Accidentally moved backups.backupdb to trash, now stuck badly. NEED HELP!

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a new macbook pro to replace my much older, aging one. I was nearing the end of migrating everything over and needed to reformat my TIme Machine drive to allow a new backup file to start on my new computer. So, hooking up my portable harddrive to my computer, I moved the backups.backupdb folder to the finder trash and tried to delete. Realizing it won't delete I tried to move it back to the drive but it started copying instead. Now realizing I'm in trouble I went on here to try and find an answer. I did that whole process of,
cd /volumes/"Time Machine"/
sudo -rm .Trashes
in Terminal, and let it work for a couple hours, only to cancel b/c it didn't appear to be working. Now I don't care at all about the files on the time machine drive, I just want them gone from the drive AND the files gone from my finder trash. I then went into disk utility and went through the process of erasing the drive. I let it sit over night, hoping that when I woke up, the drive would be empty. Unfortunately, it's been at the "unmounting disk" step all night.
I am in some serious need of help guys, I have no idea what to do.

To install OSX 10.6 from 10.5 I followed this article guidelines as Time Machine was preventing the upgrade:

Copying a large TM repository in the Finder, although it should be possible, is not really practical because of the complex directory structure that has to be recreated. It can take days, and there's a good chance the operation will fail. Better to do a block-level copy with Disk Utility, or just start a new backup. You really need at least two backups anyway.

Hi I hope some one can tell me step by step how to fix windows 8.1, I can't update any of my Apps and can't install any new apps now and I get error code 0x80073cf9? But my problem is different than most of the other FIXES I read about, because nothing
fixes my problem to be able to install new Apps and get app updates and stop getting that error code?

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID. Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

I have implemented multicast on the network in a hub and spoke topology. i have set up ospf routing protocol and broadcast all network and can successfully ping.
I am currently using VLC player as my media streaming server and client. i have set up rtp streaming from the HUb router using multicast ip 224.2.2.2 and unable to broadcast the multicast traffic across the spokes 1 and 2 PC's
I have never used vlc player never set up multicast network before and i am struggling with this and need help.

I accidentally moved my iPhoto library. Now it says "folder empty" and I can't find any of my photos anywhere. HELP!

I was trying to clean up my startup disk and get some space freed up. I moved a bunch of stuff to my dropbox (temporary measure until I get a backup drive). I didn't realize my iphoto library is actually in my documents folder. I copy the whole folder to dropbox, and then delete the contents on my hard drive. When I go to dropbox and look at my iphoto library, it's empty. Are my photos just gone? Can they be recovered? HELLLLPPP!!!!

By default your iPhoto library is in the pictures folder not the documents folder - you should have it in the pictures folder to avoid errors like this
You probably lost your iPhoto library as generally the iphoto library is corrupted often beyond repair by putting it on DropBox - as a future note NEVER delete any important files until you have verified that you have a good copy -- and also for the future purchase an external drive formatted Mac OS extended (jourmnaled) roughly 2 to 2 1/2 times the size of your main drive and start running TimeMachine all the time so you have hourly local backups
If you do not have a backup then all you can do it drag the iPhoto library back form DropBox to the pictures folder and hold down the option key while launching iPhoto and select the library n the pictures folder - if that does not work then you will have to start over - hopefully your Masters folder is intact and has all of you original photos - to start over drag it to the desktop, trash the messed up library and launch iPhoto to create a new library and drag the folders of photos from the Masters folder to iPhoto to import them

When you say "presentation," are you by any chance talking about Power Point? If so, the music must be in one of the formats that is compatible with Power Point, which includes MP3.
The files sold in the iTunes Store are in AAC format, which is not compatible with Power Point. You can convert AAC to MP3 by following this guide:

I am following the instructions for removing and reinstalling itunes because I had a "msvcr80.dll missing from your computer" error. I have uninstalled itunes and apple software update but the next one in order "apple mobile device support" will not uninstall. According to the instructions, that one has to be removed before I can do the rest. Would love any help I can get.

Hello and thanks so much for your quick reply. I am at a standstill, because I have done those things already and it has not worked. The repair install procedure seemed to take place quickly, but the same thing happened again when I tried to uninstall it the program after that.... It seems to proceed, then the progress bar goes backward, and there it still is!
When I downloaded the Microsoft Fixit program and asked it to uninstall the Apple Mobile device Support, it started but then got stuck and I had to shut my computer off, as it froze everything up!
I'm hoping you can help..... This seems to be a problem with the new version, and it's frustrating, because I can't use Itunes on my computer at all till we find a solution.
Perhaps if I try to restore my computer to before the Itunes 11.1.4 uodate?

So is your media folder called iTunes Music or iTunes Media? And does it have a folder called Music inside it?
Before going any further you should first attempt to use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (ignore if grayed out). This will make sure that any iPod Games or Mobile Applications get placed inside the iTunes Media folder which is needed for portability.
If your iTunes Media folder is called iTunes Music, close iTunes, rename the folder as iTunes Media and start iTunes again. iTunes will automatically adjust. Close iTunes again.
On your external drive rearrange the folders that you have already copied there so that they match the layout in your active library. You should end up with a folder called X:\iTunes where X: is the external drive letter, and the media folder is X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. If the library layout was upgraded then you will need to create a Music folder inside this and move all the artist folders and Compilations into Music. You will also need to copy iPod Games and Mobile Applications from your internal drive into the new media folder. Next copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork from the internal drive into X:\iTunes. The preceding manipulations should make the internal and external copies of your library match without you having to copy all of the media over again.
Now hold shift as you start iTunes. Click choose, browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Finally use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This will ensure that any stray files that might have been added from outside your original media folder will be copied into the new one.
You can now reclaim the space used by your library on the internal drive, however before you do so I would advise you to obtain another external drive and make use of this backup tip.

PSE6: moved catalog to new drive - inconsistent with original - need help

I have a puzzling occurence since backing up my Photoshop Elements 6 catalog a week or so ago. I wanted to move my catalog/photos on my laptop from the C drive (to get it to mostly software/programs) to the D drive (mostly data and documents) because my C drive was filling up and I have lots of room on my D drive.
Research on how to do this suggested that doing a backup and then a restore on the new drive was the way to go. I had done some cleanup on the C drive catalog beforehand, though not nearly as much as I want to do in the end. Here's what the directories report after the backup/restore (I haven't deleted the C drive catalog yet, and I want to create an additional backup to an external drive before doing so):

Hi There,
Instead of Backup Restore, just use the Move Catalog Feature. Just try the following steps:
1. Launch Organizer
2. Go to File -> Catalog
3. Select Custom location radio button and choose the path on the D drive where you want the catalog to be copied.
4. Then Select the catalog and click the move button
5. Select the Custom Location Radio button and click OK.
With this, your catalog will move to the new location.
If you want to move the files within in the catalog as well, use the File -> Move command.

So stuck! Need help please with text editing.

I purchased an .eps file on shutterstock that I wish to edit. I telephoned them to check that it could be edited. " not a problem, use illustrator..... "
The image has several texts. I am trying to replace the words with in the text boxes, if that makes sense. I have tried the trial and error approach for the past 2 hours with no progress.
I have tried perspective grid etc but no option is allowing me to select the text and edit it.
Anyone have an idea how and the quickest way and there is many words to replace. Really am a novice to illustrator.

i guess the quickest method now is to text box in pshop and past it in illustrator. Or is there a better method as time is an issue with this...

I'M STUCK AND NEED HELP!

I have just started experiencing problems with itunes today. When I plugged my iPod into the computer, while itunes was pulled up on the screen, a message comes up that says,
"The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the iPod's software."
So, I went to oldapps.com to download an older version of itunes (7.2) because the newer versions won't work for some reason, and I get this message when attempting to reinstall itunes:
"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable."
This message even comes up when I try to uninstall itunes, or download itunes from the apple website.
I have no idea what to do, and I'd really appreciate some help. I don't want my $260 ipod that I paid for myself (Im 16, so its a big deal), to go to waste.

Yes, sorry, you did mention that the Zoom has replaced the Netgear. Regardless, if the Zoom is providing the NAT & DHCP services ... which I would assume that it is by default, the AEBSn should be reconfigured as a bridge.
With AEBSn still configured as a bridge, please try the following:
o Power-down the Zoom, AEBSn, and computer(s); wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o While the equipment is powered-down, connect one of your computers directly to any available LAN port on the AEBSn using an Ethernet cable.
o Power-up the Zoom; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up (plug-into power) the AEBSn; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
o Power-up the computer connected by Ethernet.
The computer should now be able to gain Internet access. Please post back your results.

Bootcamp, stuck and need help!

In any event, that camera was first supported by ACR version 7.4 which needs at least CS6 to run. Naturally, all later versions support it too.
Your choice is either to upgrade your Photoshop, or to look for, download, install, launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 on each folder containing your raw Canon files to convert them first to raw DNGs that you can open in CS5.
In no case does an Adobe application belong "on your desktop". The default install location should always be respected and left alone.
