Accidentally PreOrdered iPhone 4 from ATT and Apple

Anyone have any idea how the Apple/ATT transfer of information works? Am I going to receive both phones? Am I going to be charged an extra $500 for one of the phones or am I going to get both for $200?
I called ATT and the customer service guys seem to have no idea what's going to happen.

Cancel one order. I had the same situation and I called AT&T and cancelled my order. If you want to keep your AT&T order Apple has an easy way to cancel online, just go to Store --> Account --> Order Status, select your status and choose "Cancel Order" at the top right. Just make sure you are confirmed for one.

Pre ordered from att and apple?

I have been trying to pre-order the iphone 4 yesterday forever and I finally got it from att but no email or anything and didnt show up in the order status. Now it is showing up in the order status. I didnt think the order went through so I kept trying with apple and i eventually got it and its being delivered on the 24th but will they both come? Will it effect anything that i ordered from apple and att. Oh and also in the order status on apple it says Custom Configuration? Does that have anything to do with it? And for the order date on apple it says 6/15 and on att it says 6/16. Please respond with answers and thanks in advance.

I meant pre sign for the order delivery when you pre order through att. Do they give you a option to do that because i am not sure i will be home.

Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.

“Could Not Activate EDGE” error message Update ...
Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.

On my ipad mini, when I delete an email from the inbox (and it goes into Trash), it immediately deletes that email from the server (ATT/Yahoo). I've called support for both ATT and Apple and can't find a way to have the emails remain on the server.

Appreciate suggestions.
[The curious thing is, if I "move" the deleted emails from Trash on my iPad Mini into the Inbox, I can go to my notebook, open my online email and they are back in my ATT/Yahoo Inbox.]

You need to find out who the carrier was in Switzerland and see if they will unlock the device. The carrier with the lock is the only one that can authorize the unlock. You may need to check with the original owner and see if they can get it unlocked by the carrier if you do not qualify.

Only the previous owner can help you. They either need to provide you with the ID and password to delete the existing account, or erase the device and remove it from their account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515. If they aren't willing to do that, return it and ask for your money back.

To use it as an iPod it must be activated...to do that it has to accept a sim. A blacklisted iPhone cannot do that. Take it back to AT and T where you got it and get your money back.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

You can just buy an unlocked phone direct from Apple in the US, but only if you are physically in the US.
Also, note that your warranty will only be valid in the US.
