Accidentally removed Widget Icon from Dock

Hi--I accidentally removed the Widget Icon from my dock. How can I restore it?
Thanks

If you are referring to the icon for Dashboard, then simply locate the application in your Applications folder, select it and drag it into the Dock.

Your Home folder is located in the /Users/ folder. Double-click on the disk icon on your Desktop. Double-click on the Home folder. Select the Downloads folder and drag its icon into the Dock on the right side of the Dock's sizing bar (next to the Trash icon.)

  • I can't remove an icon from dock

I installed some Canon software with a CD, then found that the software wouldn't work on the OS (10.9.1), but that iPhoto worked fine. So I dragged all the useless software in applications to trash and deleted trash. The icons for the various useless apps remained in the dock. I dragged them out but they wouldn't disappear with the usual puff of smoke, so I dragged them to trash and all but one of them disappeared. I can't get this last one off! Any suggestions?

Write a nasty email to HP about this obnoxious behavior. What they have done is create a hidden program that runs automatically on startup and inserts the thing in your Dock. You can delete the noxious program, but it leaves an entry in the login.plist file so that the system tries vainly to launch the now missing program. Bad HP! You need to remove the program AND edit your login.plist file. See this description:

I consider this behavior adequate reason to not buy HP products.

  • Removed an Icon from dock...now i cant find the application!

When i first got my MB at christmas there was an icon on the right side of the dock next to the trash. It was a disc with "@" on in attached to a spring. I dragged it out of the dock to remove it. I am still unsure of what its purpose was but i cannot find it in my application folder or anywhere! Was this a program that a i should have kept or do i need to reinstall it? Any information on what it was called and what it did would help. (sorry if this is a seemingly stupid question, i am just curious as to what i did)

It was just a web link to the Mac OS X website...
If you really wish to have it back, go to the Mac OS X Website, and drag the page icon (next to the url box) to that place in the dock.

  • Can't remove HD icon from dock

I somehow managed to put an icon on my dock not only once, but twice, to open my HD. Obviously, I don't want either one on there. But, I cannot delete either icon. I have tried dragging away, into trash, using the delete button- nothing seems to work. How do I get these icons off my dock? Thanks.

  • Accidentally removed "@" icon from Dock (launches safari)

    Hi,
I accidentally removed the "@" icon from the far right side of the Dock (it launches safari). Can anyone tell me how I can get it back?

*Hi Joseph, Welcome (Back)* to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
Hmmnnn, I did not know you could launch Safari that way. The "@" usually is a URL that has been dragged to that location.
The standard way to get an App onto the Dock is to go to the Apps folder and drag the app to where you want it in the left portion of the dock. It will then stay there until you right (Control) click on it and ask that it be removed from the Dock.
    Hope that's helpful.
    Good Luck, JP

  • How Can I Remove A Persistent Icon From Dock

I've got an app's icon in my dock with a question mark in it.  I am unable to remove the icon from the dock(I should be able to push the icon out with my cursor and have it go "poof" but can't).  I deleted the app from my hard drive but the errant icon persists. I would think that there would be a file in my system  representing the icon but can't locate it.  How can I permanently delete the icon ?

First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
    Setup your Dock icons again.

  • Can't remove icons from dock

I purchased a brand new macbook pro today, and I have been trying to remove certain icons from the dock for the last half hour. I am completely unable to click and drag the icons, not even to reposition them on the dock. Also, when I hold the control button and click on an icon on the dock, the "remove from dock" option is completely absent. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run:
    defaults write com.apple.dock contents-immutable -bool false;killall Dock

  • How do I remove an icon from the dock of an iMac 10.9.5.?  Dragging doesn't work although I have tried a number of different places.  I recall right clicking used to give me a remove option.

How do I remove an icon from the dock of an iMac Maverick, 10.9.5?  I've tried dragging different places: desktop, finder list etc.  No luck.

Drag up towards the centre of the screen & hold for a second or so. The icon will have the 'smoke cloud' appear, let go & it will be removed.
There should also be a 'Remove from Dock' option in the popup menu. It is in the 'Options' section . ctrl+click will 'right click' if right clicking is disabled.
If this is not possible the Dock is locked (this may happen on a 'Managed Mac' normally setup by a company or school etc). See your tech support in this case.

  • I clicked on iphoto app, it wouldn't launch.  Then, I accidentally removed it off the dock.  How can I retrieve it?

I clicked on my iphoto app, it wouldn't launch.  Then I accidentally removed the app from my dock.  How can I recover iphoto?

The good news is that even though you've apparently deleted the application itself as well as its icon in the Dock, neither of those deletions will have affected your iPhoto library or the pictures in it. You would have to have deleted that separately for your pictures to be gone now.

  • I accidentally removed my iPad from iTunes in the cloud manage devices.    is there any way I can restore this?

I accidentally removed my iPad from iTunes in the cloud manage devices is there anyway I can restore this?

    Hi Eric Ferguson,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For troubleshooting on this, take a look at this article:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.
    Also see:

For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing.

  • How do I remove padlock icon from all my files?

On one of my drives, every single file has a little padlock icon superimposed over the file icon. I recall when I did a clean install of windows 7 RC over my Vista install, I wasn't getting write access to the drive so I had to take ownership of the drive and mess with the security settings before it started working normally.
I have to admit, I find the security settings in all versions of NT mystifying... For instance, although my account is in the administrators group, having full access to administrators never seems to work. I always have to add my individual user account and explicitly give it full access.
In any case, I can't remember exactly what it took, but after messing around with the security settings for a while, I eventually was able to have full access to the drive and have no problems reading/writing/deleting files and folders, but there's the padlock icon still on everything.
Can anyone explain how to get rid of it, and/or maybe point me to a good, clear, understandable guide on how to properly set NTFS permissions.
    Thanks!

  • I accidentally removed my iPhone from manage devices in my iTunes account.  How do I get back on as a device to use my account?

I accidentally removed my iPhone from manage devices in my iTunes account.  How do I get my iPhone 5s back on as a device to use my account?

    Hi jakefrombishop,
If you changed that old ID to your current ID using Manage your Apple ID, try the following to see if it will accept your current password:
    1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and sign on with your current Apple ID and password. EDIT the ID and change it to the old email address. This is temporary. Do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password: Apple - My Apple ID
    2.     Now on the iPhone, where it is asking for your password to turn off Find My iPhone, type in your current password
    3.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and sign on with the old email address and your current password. EDIT the Apple ID back to your current email address. You may need to verify it again.
    Fingers crossed!

  • How to Remove the Icon from the OWL Screen

    Hi All,
Can we remove the Icon from the OWL screen for some fields without removing the Hyperlink as in the standard for Opportunity for Account Fields as shown below:
As in the above OWL screen, i have to remove the highlighted Icon.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Malkit Singh

    Hi Malkit,
You can check Icon in Thing Type like COD_Account__TT screen.
Once you are in TT screen just go to "Controller" and select "Thing Type Data" from left side pan.
But how to remove it I don't have any idea.
