Accidentally switched iBooks account on iPad

My boyfriend found himself laid up at my place with a hamstring injury, separated from the (physical) book he was in the middle of, Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies, which he'd left back at his place in Brooklyn. As a kindness, to alleviate his boredom, I thought it would be nice to let him download it on my iPad--but using his iBooks account so that he could keep the electronic version for himself and also read it on his iPhone (he doesn't own an iPad).
Well, it was easy enough to switch accounts, and he bought the book and downloaded it easily enough. Both his book and the one I was reading show up in the library, which is not what I was expecting: I thought he would see only his book when logged in to his account, which in retrospect was rather dumb of me. What we didn't know was that I am now forbidden, apparently, to switch back to my own account. It's locked, only my boyfriend can download books to my iPad. Is there a solution to this problem? I just want to remove his book, his account, and put it back the way it was.

There is no way out for the next 90 days, you associated his ID to your iPad and Apple locks you out of your own ID now for 90 days. They implemented this feature to reduce piracy.
This is copied from the iTunes: Associating devices to your Apple ID.
Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:

Hello, my iPad has been disabled, and it says that I need to connect to iTunes. As instructed I connected to the find my iPad/iPhone site to put it on the recovery mode. However, I accidentally erased my account, so please help!!! Also, I browsed a lot to find a solution, but none of them were helpful, sorry. Hopping you could help, thank you.

However, I accidentally erased my account,
How did you erase your account?  A lot of people would like to know.  No one has found a way of erasing an Apple id account.

  • I want to borrow my wife's iPad for a trip but have access to my iBooks account. If I change her login access will that mess up her books for the future?

I assume that iBooks is limited in the same way that iTunes and the App store are.  That is, you can only change the AppleID associated with a device once every 90 days.

So if you log out of the iBook store with her AppleID, and use yours, you will have to wait 90 days before she can use her AppleID with that same device again.

  • How to transfer iBooks from one iPad account to another.

I am a teacher who will be taking on a new role at the school.  The school is going to give me an iPad with all the literature books the students will be reading.  These books were purchased through iBooks.  I already have an iPad and was curious if there was a way to transfer the books on their iPad, which were purchased through iBooks, to my iPad.
    Thanks in advance.

You can restore the new iPad using an iCloud or iTunes back up (assuming you have all of those apps backed up), or simply redownload them from the App store or sync via itunes.

  • After iBooks purchase on iPad, Books sync in iTunes incorrectly switches away from "All Books"

    Background:
    iTunes 11.4 on OSX 10.9.5
    iPad running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
    iPhone running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
same behaviour observed w. iOS 7.x and iTunes 11.x
I have a largish library of ~500 books and PDFs, managed via Books v1.0.1 on OSX. I sync all of my content to both the iPhone and iPad in its entirety as it contains both light reading and technical content for work and reference.
I've noticed that sometimes my library of books gets out of sync between the three devices and hadn't narrowed the cause. Last week I got caught without some important info available to me due to the issue, so I invested some time tracking it down.
    Issue:
With iTunes set under the Device sync setting to sync "All Books" and both ends currently in (content) sync, if you make a purchase on the iPad/iPhone via iBooks so that a new book is added to the device library … and then plug in via USB to OSX and sync the device in iTunes. iTunes will toggle the "All Books" option to "Selected Books" and only select the single entry just purchased.
That causes the new book to be synced successfully to the OSX Books library (where it was already pending as a cloud purchase anyway), but now the issue is that iTunes retains the "Selected Books" sync setting going forward for that device (with whatever context that may be referring to lost). Hence further additions to the OSX Books library and/or the iPad/iPhone library are ignored for syncing going forward, until such time as you realise and manually revert the setting to "All Books" as required.
It seems some of the behaviour on book purchasing/library changes is definitely broken and has been so for quite some time (at least last 2-3 releases of iTunes). Interestingly, adding a PDF to iBooks on the iPad/iPhone (such as via the services menu from a Safari page) seems to trigger the behaviour sometimes but not with the same repeatability.
Can anyone else verify this behaviour or know if its a reported issue?

Sorry, I was only able to get back to this issue today, but it worked.
Thank you again Michael for your help. It was as simple as just buyng a free book from the iTunes store to create a Books area, then I was able to drag and drop my 3rd party book there.
Still, I feel that there should already be a Books area in iTunes, but perhaps I am the only one who has updated iTunes on a computer without any previously purchased books on it from the iTunes store.

  • I have enrolled for the apple developer program but apparently have the same account name in iBooks. I need to change the iBooks account but don't know how. Do I change my apple id? Will this cause me problems with iTunes etc etc?

I have enrolled for the apple developer program but apparently already have an account with iBooks, cant have this it seems.how do I change my iBooks account, is this the apple id for my iPad and if I change this will it cause problems accessing iTunes etc?

I guess nobody knows if the crash that occured was legitimate or not?  Apple phone support could do nothing for me, so I guess I am left to drive 45 minutes to the nearest store.

That's probably not a good idea to try to share apps since you will have to switch ID's each time you update apps and sync apps from iTunes.
And technically - according to Apple's terms - you cannot share apps using different ID's. You can actually lock yourself out of an ID for 90 days if you switch ID's and if you associate the iPad with another ID.
The bold type is a copy and paste from the site that I referenced below.
When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.

  • I purchased an iBook on my iPad air and all software updates are done but the book is listed under purchased and will not open to view

I Purchased a book in iBooks on my iPad air with all updates complete 8.0.2 and the book is listed under purchased and will not open to view

Tapping the icloud arrow should get it to download to your bookshelf and it should then get 'downloaded' against it in Purchased instead of the arrow. See if any of the following fix it :
    - close the iBooks app via the device's taskbar and then re-open the app and re-try downloading it : iOS: Force an app to close.
    - soft-reset of the device : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
    - log out and back into your account : select the Featured tab in the app, scroll to the bottom of it, tap on your id and log out, and then log back in

  • Monitor settings lost when switching user accounts.

Hi! I just recently noticed that every time i switch user accounts, my monitor settings get corrupted.
There are 2 user accounts in my ibook. One account is used for work while the other one is used for home purposes. The work account has a specific monitor setting which is calibrated to our workstations. The other account has default settings on it.
My question is that when I switch users, the settings for my work account gets corrupted. I also can't change the settings without having to restart the book.
I already repaired permissions and zapped the pram. The same thing still happens.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Chuck!
I've had this problem too. Like you, I managed to navigate to do a restart, but nothing else would make the mouse cursor reappear.
Bruce, I wasn't using Biggy, PinPoint or any of the other mouse visibility things, simply the magnification provided by System Preferences.
I put it down to a fault on 10.4.4—a very buggy release— and haven't yet been able to reproduce it on 10.4.5.
I suggest you send a fault report to Apple ([email protected]), explaining all the circumstances. Try always undoing the cursor zoom before switching users (yes, that's a pain too!!!). And if I manage to reproduce the problem, I promise I'll send in a fault report too!

  • I installed the latest version of ibooks on my ipad. I have about 50 different collections of scanned pdf's. I can only view up to the letter M. Any idea where the rest went? These are client files. Help!!!

I installed the latest version of ibooks on my ipad. I have about 50 different collections of scanned pdf's. I can only view up to the letter M. Any idea where the rest went? These are client files. Help!!!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • HT4059 Can I delete books from my iBooks account?

Can I delete books from my iBooks account?

Yes, you can delete books from iPad and from all your OS devices.
Open iBooks, select the list display, not the bookshelves display, then click on Edit at top right. Highlight the title to be deleted and "tick" the button to the left of the selected title. Then simply click the red Delete button at the top left. You will be given two delete options, so just select the one you require.
    Trust this helps.

  • Hi, I accidentally delete my notes on iPad mini.  is there any way to recover?  unfortunate, I didnot activate iCloud

Hi, I accidentally delete my notes on iPad mini.  is there any way to recover?  unfortunate, I didnot activate iCloud.  there are several third party app claiming that they can be used to recover my notes.  are those true?

Unless you synced them with an email account or backed them up somewhere, it's doubtful. You may end up paying money for an app that cannot guarantee anything. Sorry.

  • Can I share iBooks with another iPad user?

Can I share my IBooks on my iPad with my wife who also has an IPad?

As long as she has access to your iTunes account - they can't be transferred or lent to a different account

How can I transfer ebooks of iBook library on Ipad to Imac ?
    Please help me.

To read on the iMac you need Mavericks...if you have Mavericks, the library for iBooks is available to both devices...open iBooks on the iMac and go to the Library.  Of course that does want to see an iCloud account, forgot to say that.

  • Not all ibooks syncing between ipad and iphone

I am trying to sync about 1500 ibooks from my ipad mini to my iphone 6 but it will only sync about 1400. I transferred all purchases from my mini to itunes and then synced my iphone but certain ibooks will appear then disappear or will only open to a blank white screen then disappear. Not sure what happen or how to fix this. All started happening after ios8.

On your phone go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contact section).  If you have this setting, make be sure you have selected iCloud as your default account and not something else like On My iPhone, Google, Yahoo, an Exchange account, etc.  If iCloud is not selected, make this change then add a new test contact and see if it appears in your contacts on icloud.com and your other devices now.
If you don't have the Default Account setting, or if it is set to iCloud but new contacts added to your phone still aren't appearing on icloud.com, add any missing contacts from your phone to your contacts on icloud.com.  Once the contacts on icloud.com are up to date, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then after a few seconds turn Calendars back on.  Then add a new test contact on your phone and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com and your other devices now.
