Snugglebug,
"What do I do?"
iTunes relies on QuickTIme for playback. You'll need to reinstall it.
You'll find it here:

  • Accidentally Deleted Quick Time

I was recently removing unused programs to open more space on my hard drive, and I accidentally deleted Quick Time. Now everytime I try to open my iTunes, I get an error and I cannot open it.
Is there any way I can reinstall Quick Time?

Yes, you can get a stand alone version of Quick Time for download by just clicking on the Quick Time tab on the top of this window. But, you may want to make sure you get the correct version of Quick Time for your iTunes installation. Right now Quick Time v. 7.0.4 is the most current version of the program, but it matches up with iTunes v. 6.0.2.23. If you have a different version of iTunes you'll have to find the compatible Quick Time version. You can find older Quick Time versions by clicking on the Downloads tab in this current Support screen.

  • How do I uninstall Quick Time Player 10 from a Mac

I cannot find an article that explains how to uninstall Quick Time Player, version 10, from my Mac Snow Leopard.  I need to install Quick Time 7 in order to install Quick Time Pro 7.  Just moving the program to the Trash did not help.
    Thanks.

I need to uninstall quicktime completely. It says that it is open when I try to trash/delete it. There is no other error message. I cannot delete it because it says that it is open. I cannot open it because it has become invisible and will not show up when I try to open it. When I click on the icon it flashes as it should as if it is opening but it does not open. It does not show up on my list of open apps. It may be (and probably is) corrupted but I cannot tell. Either way, I want to completely erase it and re install it. just tell me how.
QT is a structure embedded in the in your platform's operating system. To remove/replace it, you would have to delete/reinstall the entire operating system. On the other hand, the QT 10 Player is an application that provides a graphich interface with the QT structure embedded in your system. It can be removed/replace by simply deleting the QT Player app and reinstalling another copy. This is easily done on Snow Leopard system by simply extracting/installing another copy of the app from you included system discs but an be a real problem under Lion since most people do not keep a a local image of the recovery installation software on their local drive.

  • Buffer Override and Can't uninstall Quick time

I just upgraded to Quick Time Pro for $32.00 and can't get quick time or itunes to open. I tryed to uninstall Quick Time but it says error and can't uninstall. I get a Buffer Override when trying to open. I believe that I just got ripped off for $32.00. Apple must be short of money and ripping us off.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. See notes 1 & 3 below the box in particular, and include the ..\Program Files\QuickTime folder in the removal process.
Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I UNINSTALLED QUICK TIME BEFORE INSTALLATION OF NEW PRO 7

Windows - Without being able to follow the instructions of start menu leading to the existing Control Panel for
Quick Times, as I uninstalled it tryin to save time; how do I access the registration portal to enter the registration code I previously paid for a few months ago?
Paragraph 1 of the instructions to download 7 Pro includes a reference that the instructions begin as they do with the presumption that the previous Quick Time Version is still in the control panel.  as follows:
"Note: The Quick Time 7 Control Panel will only be available if Quick Time 7 is already installed."

  • Why can't I uninstall Quick Time?

I cannot uninstall QuickTime / update ITunes because it cannot locate the directory where 'Quick Time.msi' is located.
I deleted the Quick Time folder in the Program Files, but it didn't help. I'm not real big on computers but I've been pretty good in the past. PLEASE HELP. I want to update my ITunes, and my IPod but I can't.

  • Installing and uninstalling Quick time

I am trying to install quick time and every time I get this message '' The installer encountered errors before requested operations for quicktime could be completed, retry later. '' I have quick time in my add / remove programs so I try to delete but then it says ''fatal error during installation ''
I have tried evrything in support but still no joy can you help please

    No need to apologise.
Given that you're getting a BEX I think we'd better check for old QuickTime componentry on the PC. (Other things can cause a BEX, but this seems a likely possibility.)
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in "My Computer" open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Uninstalling Quick Time 7.3.1

I purchased Quick Time Pro the other day because I was watching a streaming video and when I ctrl-clicked it, the menu said I could save it to disk if I upgraded. Not only could I NOT save it to disk when I purchased Quicktime Pro (the menu item was no longer available) but now I can't open my Flash-based .mov files in either Quicktime, VLC or Real Player.
This is a major problem for me. Is there a way to go back to the earlier version of Quicktime Player?

Seems I got bit by the Mac bug even worse! Bunches of my apps won't open...address book, MacMail, even Disk Repair or Console. Been running current OSX on this wonderful workhorse G3 since Steve was in his garage...narry a problem.
Now, oddly, the apps seems to start...even appear in the dock with the triangle, and show up in ForceQuit as if all is normal. Only prob. is the app is NOT there
The second I do the restart after installing 7.3.1 Quack Time, I got nuttin but trouble. Funny, iTunes and even QuickTime player work ok. So you know what that means? If I call support and pay the bucks, they'll tell me it's phases of the moon or Bill Gates, but it "certainly can't be QuickTime." I just KNEW they'd do something someday to make me have to spring for a Mac Pro...I just didn't think an update would sneak in my back door and zap me.
Anybody else having these problems after the update...or do I just let them beat me up and tell me it's something I did???

  • No sound on music videos. I've uninstalled quick time and reinstalled. No good. Anyone?

No sound on music videos. I've deleted and reinstalled quicktime and that didn't help. I see there were some problems with this associated with earlier versions of iTunes (7.6 for example) but I'm using the most current version. Any ideas?

There is no speaker selection at the bottom of my iTunes. There is my system speaker icon on the bottom of the window however. Not sure what you mean?.

  • How do I get Quick Time to work on my computer again?

Apparently I am old and a dummy and it seems I accidentally uninstalled Quick Time from my computer instead of uninstalling something else that I was intending to uninstall.  How can I get Quick Time back?  I've tried the download from the apple.com site, but it never shows up in a file other than some binary file and I don't have the option to "run" after download, just save to this binary file.  PLEASE can someone help me?  THANKS in advance for any and all help.

    Hi 1 olddummy,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  First of all, you are not old or a dummy.  I'm sure you can give me hundreds of examples of things you can do because of your knowledge and experience, so give yourself a break .   I just want to clarify .... are you using a Windows computer or a Mac?  I'm going to assume Windows and include an article for you that will explain how to delete the iTunes application and all of it's components (because Quicktime is tied to this program).  This will not affect your iTunes library, only the application itself.   Once that is done, you should be able to work with Quicktime again.

  • Accidentally uninstalled QuickTime, Itunes wont work

I accidentally uninstalled Quick Time and now Itunes will not work. I tried re-installing Itunes and quick time but I would get an error saying old version of quick time could not be removed. I read a guide that said to remove itunes and I did and then says to remove quicktime when I try to remove quick time from program files it says: cannot delete QuickTimecheck.ocx it is being used by another person or program, please close any programs that may be using that program and try again. All I have open is this web page open and the program files containing Quicktime, Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

    QuickTimecheck.ocx
That's a web browser plug-in, so I'd try closing your web browsers too. If you still can't remove the folder, restart the PC, don't open any applications whatsoever, and then try the deletion again.
If still no luck, post back and let us know if you're still getting the same error message when you're doing the deletion, or if you're getting a different error message now.
