Accidently deleted Mac OS Lion Partition from Bootcamp on MBP

I know this was stupid and I've learned to not do this again but I really need some help now. Whenever I try restarting, I can only see the Windows partition. There is no Lion HD partition or the recovery partition. I accidently deleted it on my MacBook Pro  from Windows with third party software (dumb, i know).
It came with Lion preinstalled so I don't have the discs either. Its new so I'm not concerned about data loss but I really need to get the Mac OS back. I'm not even really concerned about losing the Windows partition.

I for one don't understand lacking backups.
Lion network install
you may even have had EFI firmware update to improve
there was GPT, EFI, HFS and NTFS along with Recovery
you should see what is left now

  • Deleted Mac Os X partition with bootcamp

    Hello all,
I recently tried to use bootcamp on my Macbook Pro, but in doing so i accidentaly deleted the Mac OS X partition part of my computer.
In other words, when i restart my computer and hold Alt (option) only "Windows" shows up.
When i put in the Mac installation disc i can't figure how to re-install the Mac portion of my computer
Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Use what was said above, but after starting up and selecting your language be sure start Disk Utility; highlight your drive, select partition, and create or recreate one GUID partition. Having done so your drive will automatically be formatted Mac extended (journaled)--which is what you want. Quit Disk Utility, and return to your installation.

  • Accidently deleted the Adobe PDF printer from the Printer List

    Hi Guys,
I have accidently deleted the 'Adobe PDF printer' from the Printer List and am now unable to print any files to PDF from any application.
Any ideas of how to get it back?
    Cheers, Nosaj68.
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Nosaj68
    Welcome to Discussions.
    1. In Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility, select Add printer and reinstall it.
    2. If you can't find this file, reinstall Adobe Acrobat and that should put it back again for you.

  • How to access user data in Lion partition from Snow Leopard?

How do I access data residing on my Lion partition from the Snow Leopard partition, ie when I boot from the 10.6 partition?
I have an account on the Lion partition and one on the Snow Leopard partition, with the same short name.
But if I try to access the data residing on the Lion partition (under my user directory) from Snow Leopard , it says I do not have sufficient privileges.
How do I best solve this issue?
My user data basically all resides in the Lion partition, the only reason for keeping the Snow Leopard partition is a programme that has not yet been updated to Lion compatibility, and will not be for another two months. I have to use it daily (until the update).
    TIA
    Marc

    That was too easy :-)
    Thank you.
As an added quirk I had to open the package with the data files (by right-click, show package contents) and manually change the permissions on the four contained files. I had expected that to happen automatically when changing the packages' permissions.

  • Accidently deleted Mac App Store

How do I get the Mac App Store back when I am on Mac OS X 10.6.7?

I don't think that someone would just accidently delete the Mac App Store. If you just took it out of your dock, then it's in your applications folder, but if for some reason it's not there because you deleted it,then you probably need to just wait until the next firmware update of snow leopard releases until your system can be patched up by it or you can try to get the application off of a download, but I don't recommend because of the reason that it would be a third party download and I think that the Apple Mac App Store has extensions installed on your Mac partition.Try finding the application online and see if you can get it via a third party, but again,I don't recommend it and hopefully you didn't "accidently" delete any of it's extensions either.

  • Very slow Mac OSX Lion download from App Store

    Hi  All,
I  have  recently  purchased  Mac OSX  Lion  (3  days  ago)  on  App  Store  (Malaysia). The  download  is  extremely  slow  and
I  am  not  sure  if  there  could  be  any  other  problem  contributing  to  this  issue.
Currently  I  have  only  completed  about  1.61GB  out  of  3.74GB  after  3  days. But,  it  was  not  a  continuous  download  but
rather  stop  and  resume  every  3  hours. My  internet  connection  speed  as  I  checked  on  speedtest.net  was  4Mbps.
The  time  left  to  complete  the  download  is  shown  as  2  days  and  20  hours. I  think  it's  not  sensible  to  have  such  a
long  time  to  complete  the  download  with  an  available  connection  speed  of  4Mbps.
Any  solutions  for  this  problem ?

Thank  you  for  keeping  the  thread  alive.
Now  I'm  experiencing  better  download  speeds  with  remaining  time  of  (7  hours  and  a  few  minutes).
The  connection  speed  I  have  is  about  5Mbps.
I  would  suggest  anyone  with  download  speed  issues  to  follow  several  maintanence  tips  (if  not  all)  from  here :
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20005830-263.html
It  may  not  seem  worthy  or  the  "solution  for  the  problem"  but  it  has  certainly  made  the  difference  for  me.

  • Wont boot after Deleting Mac OS 9 files from Mac Pro

I noticed some Mac OS 9 files on my main HD. Incorrectly, I guess, I figured I could just delete them.  Well.... It allowed me to trash some, and not others. When I tried to move those out of trash back to their folders, it wouldn't let me. SO, I rebooted only to find out my Mac Pro wont boot up now!. All I get is a grey screen with Apple symbol and the indicator going round and round and round.
Rebooted holding option and selecting a Tech Tool sectioned of drive. When to my back up and copy the Mac OS 9 files from it back to the main HD. Didn't work. Then tried to use Time Machine.. still no go.
I'm thing I need to reinstall my MAc OSX 10.6.8 that I have as an dmg file on another drive.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi there:
You may be able to start up the Mac in such a way as to look
for an OS X volume at the same time using a keyboard comb-
ination at startup... Press key(s) immediately after start tone.
Press Option (opt) key during startup will start in Startup Manager
where you can select an OS X volume or network volume to run.
{There is also a way to choose a hardware test for diagnostic
purposes on startup, too. Some macs have features in the OS
    to include a 'recovery' mode on later models.}

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1533
PS: if you decide to remove Windows, you should also
consider Boot Camp to remove the partition it made.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Right, so the problem is that the MBR only contains the Windows partition, therefore Windows only sees itself. To fix this, you'd use gdisk to create a new hybrid MBR. Go to the recovery menu, r, create new hybrid MBR, h. And then follow the questions: yes to EFI GPT being first in the MBR; add partitions 2 4 5. Accept default type code hex values by just hitting enter when asked, and do not make 2 or 4 bootable, do make 5 bootable.
So the problem with this layout is that partition 3, Recovery HD, can't be added to the MBR. Therefore it appears to Windows as unallocated free space and is open game for being modified, erased, whatever. Which is why a 5 partition layout isn't recommended or supported and also has no meaningful advantage. But I'd fix it as suggested and just leave it alone until you have full backups of both environments and you're ready to do a major upgrade and blow everything away and start from scratch at that time. It's a fairly low risk that Recovery HD gets broken by Windows. And it's sort of risky to try to get rid of this extra partition you created, to go back to a 4 partition layout.

  • Mac mini lion restore from USB drive - getting no-entry sign

I'm trying to recover my dead mac mini, and I'm having lots of problems. The disc is dead - I've booted in target mode and been able to reformat it from another machine, soit's working to that extent.
There's obviously no recovery system running now, and I need to get Lion running because Mountain Lion isn't supported.
I've created a few flash drives to boot from - downloading the lion install package, opening it, taking out the .dmg file and using disk utility to copy it - all as recommended by other advice.
Each time what happens is that the boot starts, then it hangs with a no-entry sign.
    Any suggestions?

Which version of OS X came with your mini?

  • I accidently deleted or removed download folder from something on homescreen called pages ?

New to using apple n first tie out the box i delete or remove a download folder from favourite list in something called pages. Can i restore this if so how ?

Pages is a simple, but effective, little word processing package along the lines of MS Word.  If you go to the Apps Store and sign up there's every chance you'll be able to download it again from there.
When you purchase a new Mac product, it gives you the option to sign up to the iCloud with your chosen user name  ie,  [email protected]
So in the first instance I would sign in and go to the App Store - search for Pages and you should be able to download it from there.  It's a very useful Word Processing page but you'll also see several others there too and you can choose.  I don't use Pages but it all depends on whether you have a requirement for a Word Processing package.   There are loads of others on the App Store.

  • I accidently deleted my mms data files from Drive ...

    plz help

I'm assuming you don't have backups?  If that's correct, read this:
    Recovering deleted files
If not, just restore from your backup.
(Note that my pages contain links to other pages that promote my services, and this should not be taken as an endorsement of my services by Apple.)

  • Lion killed(?) Bootcamp for MBP 15" i7

I think Lion ate it or something.  Before I upgraded the OS, I ran disk utilitity and cleaned the cache, etc. like a good little user.  I had Bootcamp partitioned with Parallel 5 installed.
I saw that Parallel5 isn't compatible so uninstalled it.  But the thing is when I open Disk Utility, it keeps showing that the disk is not repairable.  I downloaded iPartition Demo and it showed that there was some error with the BootCamp disk (that it wasn't shut down properly or something)
The Boot Camp assistant looks different on Lion.  It doesn't allow me to boot up from a separate disk from the outset like before.  It doesn't appear on System Preferences.
On Utilities, it asks me to
    1) download Windows Support Software for this Mac
    2) Already have windows support software cd/dvd/external disk.
When I already have partition the HD, is it supposed to happen?
I tried installing demo version of Parallel 6 and it finds Windows 7 just fine.  So what's going on?  It still shows that on Disk Utility that my BootCamp disk is not repairable.  I'd like to repartition it because it is taking up too much space.

Here is something that worked for another user in the same boat:
"I put in my Windows 7 intallation disk, booted past the first screen into the recovery tools, and tried the automatic recovery option, and wonders of wonders, it worked.  It's now showing up just fine and I can boot into it, so it looks like all Lion did was kill off access to it in the partition table without messing up the data, in a way that Windows could correct."

  • HT1766 If I have accidently deleted my music files from iTunes on my PC laptop, can I get them back from my iPad which was synced just before I deleted all the files?

I accidently deletes all my music files from iTunes on my PC laptop. Can I get them back using my iPad mini Retina that was synced just before I deleted the files? I am a bit old fashioned, so all of my music has been imported from my CD,s, not purchased from iTunes store. I could re-import, but almost 5,000 songs. Especially when they are sitting there on the iPad.

Yes, if they were purchased from iTunes.  If they were CD's you copied to your iTunes library, then synced to your iPad, you may be forced to redownload the CDs again.
Connect your iPad to your computer via USB and with iTunes open wait for your iPad to recognized on the left side of the iTunes screen.  Right click your iPad once and a dialog box will apear.  Choose Transfer Purchases and the music apps, etc., you purchased will transfer to your iTunes library on your computer.

  • Download windows support software for mac book air running Mac oS Lion.. too slow in bootcamp

    Hi guys,
Do you know a site which I could download the windows support software for my mac book air running MAC OSX Lion. Using bootcamp takes a very long time and seems to be stuck. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Whart exactly are you having problems with?
Installing Boot Camp, manually updating the B.C. Drivers, Apple software update updating the drivers, or Windows Software updates?
You will or have a full Windows install. _ALL_ Microsoft Windows software is through Microsoft or 3rd partys. Apple just supplies the drivers for their hardware to be run in Windows.
If you want to manually install the Boot Camp drivers then try here?:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Underneath the hardrive picture is a link for _Downloads_, it shows up as an error in my browser but when i put in "Boot Camp" in the "Search Downloads" bar I got a large list.
    Hope that helps.....
