Accidently deleted track numbers. How do i get them back without manually doing it one by one?

I was going thru my itunes to try and get it all in order.
I highlighted an album, get info, checked a few boxes, and i thought all was looking good.
Then i discovered a heap of songs did not have track numbers.
I eventually worked out that one of those few boxes i checked was the track number box.
So now i am missing quite a lot of track numbers.
Is it possible to to get them back? Or do i need to sit here for days to manually put the track nubers in?
Please give me good news because its about 20G of music missing track numbers :-(

MusicBrainz often isn't that successful, and then there is the problem of getting iTunes to recognize the external update.
Start with this method to restore your most recent library file that had the correct information.
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced turn off the option to Keep iTunes media folder organized.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. iTunes should now have the correct track numbers, but the files won't be where iTunes expects to find them.
To fix this new problem use my script FindTracks.
When that is done use iTunes Folder Watch to catch up with any files that have been added or removed since the backup file was created. Any files added at this stage will probably need their track numbers fixing by hand.
You can now reenable the keep organized option.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Out of the blue, all of my purchased ringtones and music aren't displayed anymore on my iPhone.
I went to iTunes to see if they were stored there, but the downloads folder also appears to be empty. If I try to select a ringtone I've downloaded before, a popup appears saying that I've already purchased that item and asking if I want to cancel or buy. If I click on buy, then I pay for the item again even if I already have it! The only place I can still see my purchased items is in the iTunes application on my computer, but even though I've already selected sync, the ringtones and songs still won't appear on my iPhone.

I'm having the same problem on an iphone 4s running iOS8; when i updated to iOS8, all my ringtones went missing, and when i got a £50 gift card for christmas (2014), I purchased some songs from the iTunes store on my iPhone. i downloaded songs from paramore, panic! at the disco, coldplay, and imagine dragons, over wi-fi, and they went into my iphone music library; but when i re-opened the music app a few days later, in a place where i had no wi-fi, except for my 3G phone signal, some cloud icons appeared next to my newly purchased songs, telling me to re-download them from the cloud, when i haven't even deleted them. this has happened twice now, and i had to use up some of my 5GB data allowance to redownload them from the cloud. If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

If you re-format it you will lose all the data on it!!!!! So make sure you have backed up the drive or moved all the data on it to another external HD or the internal HD on your iMac.

Where is the backup of the media and other important files from the computer? Ultimately, it is the users responsibility to ensure that backups exists. Waiting until there is a problem to decide to do a backup is not smart. Would you wait until a fire started in your home to call the insurance company and inquire about homeowners/renters insurance????
In the event that no backup exists (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files):
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content. They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes. On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer. Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this.

On your iPod Touch, open the iTunes app. There should be tab named "purchased", which shows all your purchase history. Choose the "Not on this iPod" tab and you'll get a list of purchased products that are not on your device. Hope this helped.

With the first sync with an address book app on your computer that includes at least one contact and the same for the iPhone, a merge prompt is provided, which you want to select. The other option is to replace on the iPhone with what is available in the address book app on your computer.
If this was the first sync for this data, sounds like you did not select the merge prompt when provided.
Contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. If you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes again, don't. Try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. Decline the prompt to update your iPhone's backup as the first step.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.

Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

I accidently deleted my iphoto off of my MacBook Pro. It is an OS X (10.6.8) and the processor speed is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The memory is 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I cannot get it back or find it anywhere. The new version of iphoto in the App store isn't compatible with my MacBook because its for a newer version. Is there any way i can recover the application without having to buy a new one?

If you installed iPhoto from a DVD, reinstall it again from the DVD.
If you purchased it from the App Store, you can download it again from their without repurchasing
NO purchase mentioned. You reinstall from the original source which was probably a purchased iLife DVD. Maybe the restore DVD that came with the computer. Possibly but unlikely the App store. If it was the App store you do not repurchase but you reinstall from your purchases list
