Accordion widget not pushing content out of way

Hi,
Following a Lynda.com tutorial I added a menu to an accordion widget while designing a mobile site.  Expanding the accordion is supposed to push the page's content downwards but it is simply unfurling over it.  Does anybody have any idea what might be going wrong?
Thanks,
Peter

  • Accordion widget not pushing content down

I followed the instructions for putting the menu inside the accordion widget. It has worked great for me in the past. But now, the menu just shows up behind the content. I've looked at several discussions, and I have everything set up correctly. No scroll effects, etc. I followed the step-by-step instructions on Lynda.com and in an earlier version of Muse it was perfect. Now it isn't. Here is the business catalyst site URL.  pitv.businesscatalyst.com. Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
Coud you please try the suggestion provided in the following thread
Re: Accordion Widget is Not Moving Other Page Items Down When Expanded
Do let me know if you have any question.

  • Content below Accordion widget not moving?

I want to have content below the accordion widget to slide down when one of the panels is open.  Right now the accordion widget slides behind the content when one of the panels is open. I have "Overlap Items Below" checked.
From the Lynda.com site: " The Accordion panel now includes an option to Overlap Items Below. When selected, content below the Accordion panel will move down on the page as an Accordion panel is opened/expanded."
    thanks

That seems like a typographical omission on Lynda.com's blog.
You need to uncheck that option to move the content below accordion down upon opening the panel.
Please check below excerpt from Muse Release Notes here: http://helpx.adobe.com/muse/release-note/adobe-muse-release-notes.html
The Accordion panel now includes an option to "Overlap Items Below". When selected content below the Accordion panel will not move down on the page as an Accordion panel is opened/expanded.

  • My accordion panels stopped pushing content down suddenly

They were using the default behavior of pushing content down when open so the pop-out copy could be read, but suddenly stopped working and are now overlapping content below when opened. I don't want this. How can I get them to go back to the way they were?

What's "Overlap Items Below" set to?

  • Tabbed and accordion widgets not working after latest export.

The accordion widget was working on the sites I built, but now when I export the sites after changes, the accordion and tabbed panels don't work.
The link below shows the old accordion and the new one I was placed from Muse.

I don't have time to redo every accordion and tab on the site. Any ideas why it is not working and what I can do to fix it.
    Thank you,

I'll check that error message out when I get home, but for now, you could try adding this to your .xinitrc instead:
    setxkbmap -option caps:escape
    This helped. Thanks!

Or maybe try setting by keycode rather than keysym in .Xmodmap. e.g.,
    clear Lock
    keycode 0x42 = Escape
(I think you'll need to use xev to find out what keycode your escape key is though.)
This one didn't work though. I tried removing the clear Lock line, and I don't get any errors. But then it doesn't work properly.

  • Accordion widget not working in publish

My presentation consists of one slide with an accordion widget on it. It previously worked when I published it. I made a text amendment and how it doesn't. I've taken scaleable html off - any other suggestions?
The screen shows a grey 'loading' box and then reveals the correct page minus the widget.
    thank you.

I don't see immediately an answer, but maybe someone else pops in, and he/she will certainly ask you which version of CP you are using, if the Interaction is updated etc...
Can you also check if it is visible in output? Normally the stack order is not important, because an interaction gets automatically on top. However, if you are on CP6, all interactions paused the slide at the first frame. If you should have set the Interaction to fade in, maybe this could be the problem.

  • Accordion Widget not saving current scroll position

Accordion widget saves scroll position in Firefox, however in
IE7 the position gets reset to the center of Accordion Widget.
Example. Select Alabama and then select Wisconsin to see
    effect.
    See www.Qualite1.com/contactUs.html

    Hi ghaug,
This is due to the tabindex attribute that is on the
top-level element of the accordion. Apparently when an element is
focused in IE, it tries to make sure the top of that element is in
view, so it is "conveniently" scrolling it into view for you.
To prevent this behavior for accordions like yours that don't
fit neatly into a single screen, you are going to have to remove
the tabindex attribute from the top-level accordion element. If you
still want/need keyboard navigation of your accordion, then you
have to switch to using links in your accordion tabs. You can find
    an example here:

  • Inserted HTML does NOT push content when resized

    Hi,
we are building a website for a hotel and are bound to include their channel manager module into the site. In order to do that, you have to follow these steps:
    1. Paste JavaScript code into the head section to load the module.
    2. Place a short line of code with "insert HTML" into the site where the module should appear and that's it.
The module is generated by a server-side script from the channel manager's server and pasted into an iFrame that is also generated by this very script. The thing is: It resizes the height of the iFrame depending on the displayed content in the iFrame. So we start with 301 px height when we call the page and start the search for free rooms. The results are displayed on a 1400 px iFrame, which resizes properly when showing the results.
THE PROBLEM: The footers stays put and the iFrame runs behind it and off the display port. There is also no scrollbar showing up allowing me to scroll to the bottom of the iFrame.
    We got three layers:
    3. Top Layer (Containing top navigation and footer, both defined in a master page that is applied to the content page)
    2. Content Layer (Containing the inserted HTML with the generated iFrame)
    1. Background Layer (Well, it contains background elements)
WE NEED: The footer to be pushed by the ever resizing iFrame and get a scrollbar when neccessary due to iFrame height.
    What are we doing wrong?

Thank you for your suggestions, although I don't think they will fix the problem.
We cannot alter the server script in any way, since it is located on the channel manager's server and is just called with a customer id to show our client's hotel related data. They resize the iFrame using an inline height style tag. This causes the page to not recognize the size change and not even showing a scrollbar at all, when the iFrame exceeds the view port.
We already put a div around the JS-call which expands with the iFrame as expected.
    <div id="u1218"><!-- custom html -->
    <div>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    function();
    </script>
    </div>
    </div>
This results in an iFrame inserted after the script tag, the div around the script expands correctly. We already removed any master page objects, created a blank new master page to define header and footer areas and pasted our menu and footer directly into the page of question on the same layer as the inserted html box went. So for our understanding the expanding div around the script should push the footer on this page to whereever it ends. It just doesn't. Also we do not get any scrollbar, although the iFrame clearly gets larger than the viewport area and the page just doesn't recognize it.

  • Spry accordion widget not playing nicely with IE7

    Good day.
The answer to this issue may be on this forum somewhere already, but I cannot take the time to scour the several hundreds of posts.
I've build and customized my first spry accordion, which can be viewed at http://www.brianfisherart.com/Bio/Contact/
In Firefox and Safari, it works perfectly! IE7 however has some issues. the panels get too large on mouseovers, and jumpy and even larger when opening lower level panels.
Just hoping to find a quick fix.
    Thanx in advance.

I'm certainly not going to do your search for you, but you might want to see if using the current version 1.6.1 works better.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/
If that doesn't work, you might want to go to the Spry forum.
Of course, now that you've posted, I wonder if any of the links in that "More Like This" box apply?

  • Close all in accordion widget?

Is there a way / I wish you would add  a Close ALL option to the accordion widget. Because the widget can push content down the page, if the accordion is left open and a user clicks on a nav bar that has an anchor placed when the accordion is closed, the anchor now is not in the correct position.
Kind of a  "lose focus, then close all" action.

    Hi
Accordion has the inbuilt feature to Close all , so when user clicks on the open tabs they can close all.
For this you would need to enable close all in Accordion control interface.
If you are referring to add a button on page itself where if user clicks then all open tabs should close , then probably you would need some customization.
Because open tab in Accordion will only close on click on the tab itself.

  • Accordion widget as a menu navigation

I want a vertical menu navigation, with some pages having sub level pages.
The vertical menu widget only seems to position the sub level links to the right. But i want it all vertically stacked with the sub level links only showing when on that page.
    e.g.
I have tried using the accordion widget as a menu navigation, by removing the show/hide content and adding the sub level link in the needed ones.
But when i set the links to the pages the active states don't seem to work when on the particular pages. Any ideas?
Any suggestions how best to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Nick

    Hello,
When you say that the active state does not seem to work, if we take the example you have posted above, You want the Design should be expanded when you are on Exhibition Design page and "Exhibition Design" should show the active state. Correct?
In that case you would need to place the Accordion Widget not on Master page but on  each page Separately.
And on the pages where you want the Top Manu Labels to be open (expanded), keep them  open on that Particular page in Design view before Publishing/Exporting the site.
This way, you would be able to achieve the states for the submenus and expansion of Top Menu on the particular pages.

  • Spry Accordion Widget Init Closed, Without Snap?

(This is a topic discussed in
    another
thread, but I didn't want to hijack the thread with my own
question, so I started a new one...)
I want to start my Accordion widget in a closed state. I
figured out the trick of setting the default panel to '-1' and
turning fixed heights by altering the code in the footer of the
    page to:
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("Accordion1",
    {defaultPanel: -1,
    useFixedPanelHeights: false});
When you do this, however, the page loads with the first
accordion panel open and visible for a split second until the page
is loaded, at which point the widget snaps the panel shut. This is
very ugly and undesirable, especially given that this accordion is
on a page element common to every page on the site.
I've tried setting an initial class that is hidden, however
the Spry Accordion widget is written in such a way that it
preserves whatever classes you have rather than replacing them.
Does anyone know a way to load the page with the accordion
panels shut without this initial flash of the first panel snapping
    shut?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hey Al,
Nice plug for your own application! Here is another one,
since I am one of your happy customers.
I used the Spry widgets in the new DW CS3 and spent a couple
of days trying to tweak things to get them to work the way I
wanted. After getting input from my brother (his site that I am
working on) he really wanted some more style than what I was coming
up with using the basic DW widget. I smacked my dollar on the
barrel head and tried out PVII Accordion instead.
I can't tell you how fast and easy it was to insert and
customize this plugin. Not to mention they had some nice little
themed styles, one of which (the cobalt blue) was a real close
match to the color scheme I originally was using! (PS - any chance
of getting more theme styles down the road for this plugin or
matching styles for the other ones???)
Changing the open or closed state of the panels - it was so
simple!!! I simply went into the modify option and chose the number
that corresponded to my different panels in the menu list. My buddy
used an expression about DW CS3 that fits nicely with using tools
like PVII Accordion Magic. You can use a screwdriver with some
precision and a lot of hand strength to build what you want but it
will take you alot of time...or you can plugin a power drill and be
    done with it!
To see it in action on my current work in progress go to:
    http://www.dvdflashbacks.com/williamsburghealth/index.php
As for sstringer's original question - how to do this in DW's
    Spry widget...
I think you are onto the right track with the -1 setting. If
I am not mistaken though, Spry uses 0 for the first panel, so I
think you would need to use an option like {defaultTab: 1} to open
the 2nd panel and so on.
PS - Just so everyone knows - I am not a sales person for
PVII - just a very satisfied customer!

  • Can I set my accordion widget to "expand all" tabs?

I am using an accordion widget to display content on my web page. Is there a way to allow the user to "expand all" of the accordion tabs at once?

One way you can achieve this is by creating single panel accordion files, just copy the file down for each section, make sure to set the accordion setting to "Can close all".
See attached screen shot when published.... the panels are all closed, but you can open all to view.

  • All time Bug! Accordion widget does not retain content position as in design view

I have noticed that content placed inside an accordion widget that is stretched to fill browser width do not retain the position of its elements. This is very annoying as ones layout does not look right and balanced across screen.

That was it KathH --- THANKS!!!
Had created the row w/out <td> cells to carry the top banner (sort of cheating) on spanning the cells i guess ( )
Anyway, re-wrote so that the banner table was independant and did not require span and picked up the data table independantly.
Problem solved and designer picked up the image precisely.
    Thanks again!!!
Curious though that the image is dependant on the <td> tag.  I would have expected any image called within the page to display in the designer regardless of location in the html.
Oh well, fixed and onto the next challenge.
    Once more THANKS!!!

  • Is there any way to swap out the 'Widget Note' icon or have it triggered?

    Hi,
Is there any way to swap out the 'Widget Note' icon?
Not only is it bad artwork, I have a cool custom button that I wanted to bring up the Note widget. Also, when I put the Note Widget on top of my custom button, it blocks the button's glow for the mouse over state, wven when I choose the option of making the widget transparent.
Any way my custom button could trigger the Widget Note to launch?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    cheers

    Hi digitalnoob
To use your custom icon image instead of default Note icon, you would have placed your image on top of the "transparent" widget.
To make these objects available on click of some button:
    Group these two objects.
Make this group invisible in output.
Add the button which should trigger this widget.
On the button, set the action to Show this group.
To hide this group on 2nd click you need to use some advanced action and variables. Else, you can have a different button to hide this group.
