Account annoyingly redirecting me to chinese skype...

Hello. I've had my skype account for some years now. I have always recharged it in the US and I created my account in the US. I've been trying unsuccessfully for some time now to add credit to my account but it redirects me no matter what I do to skype.tom. It is getting annoying, this place only offers calling plans, I want it as I always have used it, pay on the go!, what to do? Please help me remodify this so that I can purchase from the USA website. I even tried connecting trough a VPN US server while in China and it STILL redirects me to the chinese skype. I know that it has nothing to do with the connectivity because I have had to add credit to my sister's account and I can do it through the skype website with no problem. It is just my user name that is stubbornly redirected to china skype.
Please fix this!
thank you

  • Hacked account. Wondering how to contact Skype sup...

    Hi everyone,
my account has just been hacked. The thief has change the password and the email address.
I would like to contact Skype support, but I found only two ways of doing that: this community and the chat support (that is not working at the moment).
How can I get a reply from support? No idea.
I also had some credit on my account, I was worried if Skype saved my credit card data for later, so the new "owner" could charge the account with my card. Is anyone able to give me a feedback?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi, Antoital89, and welcome to the Community,
Unfortunately, you have just realized a principal reason malcontents hijack accounts: to use up the credit or to take advantage of any subscription, and then to top up the credit using the payment method on file.  Change your credit card account password immediately if you have not already done so, as well as any third-party payment processing system account if you happen to use one (such as PayPal or MoneyBookers).
To recover your account, you will need to contact Skype Customer Service directly.  Try using a different web browser than you typically use; believe it or not, this works most of the time!
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started.  If you have a Skype Premium subscription, you will be diverted to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent; if not, complete the webform and you will receive a reply via e-mail.

    Elaine

  • Re: Bizarre Chinese/Skype Manager Emails

Hi - my husband has same problem (we are in UK) and has received same Chinese email with 100 Euros been credited to the account.  Our bank has called us to query the credit card transaction and we have cancelled it as it wasn't requested.  Also he can't now log in to his Skype account, and attempts to get a new password have failed to get him back into his account.  Have you or anyone else made progress?

  • How to stop the browser redirect me to Chinese version websites?

For example, when I typed in nba.com, it goes to http://china.nba.com/index.html?gr=www. Similarly to bing.com.
In addition, when I shop in any website, the currency shows in CNY other than USD.
I'm using the newest version of Firefox (English version) downloaded from the official website. I run the browser in Windows 7 pro English version. The only personalized setup I made to the system is under the Region and Language, Language for non-Unicode programs is Chinese (simplified, PRC). While this didn't affect other browsers as well as previous version of Firefox. I removed this setup for a while but the Firefox still redirecting the websites to Chinese version.
It really bothered me. I love Firefox. Please help!

Are you located in China? If so, the websites determine your location based on your [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address IP address].
There's no universal way to stop this.
    * There might be a special URL you can bookmark that always loads the US version of the site, e.g.
    * You usually have to go into the site's preferences (if available), and set your language and locale preference there. This requires allowing cookies from the site in question to store the setting.

Foreign non-Unicode programs might run correctly in the English US locale when launched through Microsoft Applocale.

  • Can't add account, am redirected to mail

I am unable to add ANY mail accounts under system preferences.  It hangs and eventually redirects me to mail preferences.  Did keychain & disk repairs & reinstalled Mountain Lion.  Everything works fine on my other Mac.

I can add it in Mail preferences no problem.  I am concerned that not being able to add it as an account might be the sign of a larger issue.

  • Account Hacked and No Response From SKYPE

My account has been hacked as of yesterday morning. Received the emails indicating that my password and primary email address are changed, and Skype will not allow me to change these; everytime I try to change email or password, it relates it back to my microsoft account, not Skype. In 24 hrs I have tried to reach customer service three times, with no response. I appreciate that there is a "within 72 hrs" clause, but why can I not at least get this account closed/ blocked/ suspended while you wait. This screams of poor customer service as well as a very laissez-faire approach to my security. Please help!

Hi, MAHDPG, and welcome to the Community,
Please do contact Skype Customer Service again.  If you were provided a ticket number or identifier, be sure to include it in your follow-up correspondence.  We here in the Community are not authorized to access Skype accountholder data, so contacting Skype Customer Service is required.

  • Always redirected to local Skype website of anothe...

Whenever I want to buy a new subscription, I was redirected to a local version of the Skype web site of my home country (which I registered my account with initially). The problem is that it ask me to pay using local bank accounts and doesn't have an option to use up my existing Skype credits. Since I'm now in the US, I don't have a way to pay through them and I also don't want to waste my Skype credits. Customer service responded that the only way to use Skype credits is to send SMS messages or to use them for Skype Wifi (both of which I don't need), and the only way not to be redirected for payment is to sign up for another account (which I want to avoid too because I have a long list of contacts..) I'm pasting my problem here in the hope that someone in the relevant department can see it and provide a way in the future to get around the issue (change account type, select which website to use for payment, etc.). Thanks!

The reason why you are being redirected to a Taiwanese Skype website is either the creation country of your account is in Taipei, Taiwan or you went to Taiwan and logged in using Taiwan’s IP address. Our partner in Taiwan is detecting your account’s IP address, which is why you have been redirected to our partner’s website.
PC Home is a Skype Partner selling Skype Credits and other Skype Products in Taiwan, to provide you with the best possible service, they handle all your payment and customer support in both English and Traditional Chinese. Hence we have migrated to ensure you get the best support.
To fix this issue for you, contact PC Home via their website, visit: http://skype.pchome.com.tw/cs.jsp or email them at [email protected] for the un-tagging of your account. To have it un-tagged, kindly provide them the following documents:
Copy of their telephone bill/statement showing their new address. Kindly remove any sensitive information before sending.
Proof of Identification with the address included.

  • How Do I Close My Skype Account?

    Dear Readers,
This question is asked a lot here in the Community, particularly on this message board.  Perhaps this topic added here will be helpful.   This FAQ article explains the process of how to remove your Skype account (the blue type is actually a "link" to the FAQ article): https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA142/how-do-i-close-my-skype-account
First, remember to cancel all active subscriptions. If you think you might be entitled to a refund, please see this FAQ to determine this:  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12147/when-can-i-get-a-refund?
Second, remove any saved payment methods from your account dashboard.
Third, remember to change the account status or presence setting to "offline."  For your convenience, an abridged version of the FAQ article's text - specific only to removing a Skype account - is copied and pasted below:
How do I close my Skype account?
If you want to close your Skype account, you’ll need to contact us so we can close it for you.
First, make sure you’ve cancelled any subscriptions or recurring payments, and used up any Skype Credit you have. Everything associated with your Skype account – including contacts, purchases and history – will be lost when your account is closed.
Next, contact Skype Customer Service and tell us you’d like to close your account.
It might take up to 30 days for your name to disappear from the directory, but after that, no one will be able to find you in Skype. Your name will still appear in your friends’ contact lists unless they remove it, but they won’t be able to contact you.
In the meantime, you can remove your personal information from your profile to prevent people from finding you based on those details.
    Remove your profile information
This will make it more difficult for people to find you in the Skype directory. You can remove or edit all of your details except for your Skype Name.
    To remove your profile information:
Change your profile picture and mood message.
If you have a profile picture that identifies you, you might want to change it. In Skype, click Skype > Profile > Change Your Picture… (on a Mac, click your profile picture and then Change Picture) and browse for a different picture.
You can leave a status message saying you’re no longer active on Skype, or giving your new Skype Name if you’re using a different account. Go to Skype > Profile > Edit Your Profile… and then click Enter mood message. (On a Mac, click your name or profile picture and then click Add Mood Message.)
    Sign out of Skype.
It’s a good idea to set your status to offline or invisible, and then sign out of Skype on all your devices. Type the chat command /remotelogout into the chat window to sign yourself out of Skype on any other devices you might be using, then sign out on the one you’re using now.
    Go to your account.
Sign in to your account on skype.com
Can’t sign in? Find out what to do if you’ve forgotten your username or password.
    Go to your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and, under Settings and preferences, click Edit profile.
    Edit your profile details.
In the Personal Information section, click Edit.
Remove your information from the Personal Information and Contact Details sections. Some fields are mandatory - replace the info in these with random characters, because you won’t be able to save it if the fields are empty. Click Save.
Please remember this is a one-time request which cannot be reversed.
One more point to keep in mind: removing your account from the Search Directory will not "pull," "remove," "delete," or "retract" instant messages or file transfers that you have previously sent to your contacts.  Your account name will still appear on their contact lists, although they will no longer be able to contact you using the account name you have requested be removed.
The last step of the process is to file your request to remove your account with Skype Customer Service.   This final and required step in the process is often overlooked, and we here in the Community are not authorized to process service requests.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Skype is aware of sporadic website issues.  Temporarily enabling scripts, disabling browser add-ins that might disable pop-up dialog boxes, and temporarily enabling pop-up dialog boxes may help get you through to Skype Customer Service.  If you still experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser.
Look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
Last and not least, when you reach the last step of the process, remember to click on the "Start Chat" link when you are provided the choice of visiting the Community or starting an instant message chat with a customer service agent.
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Account Hacked - Skype Support Useless - NO REFUND...

So my skype account was hacked last week, just found out right now. Luckly my credit card on file had expired so they only ate $8. To make it worse, the Skype login and password change system on the website isn't working properly (even though their heart beat page says its fixed), and Skype support kept trying shift the login problems on me. Oh... and no refunds? Hmmm... well... no more money for you Skype. Not one cent ever again. Its computer to computer chats from now on, and I'll find a better VOIP provider.

We are investigating a problem in our web login process. For the majority of our users that attempt to access Skype through login.skype.com the page will not load. We are working on fixing this and will report once it has been resolved. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience this causes to our users.
