Account email changed?

Just about 10 minutes ago I saw that I received a new email from skype saying my account email had changed to some generic hotmail account. I immediately signed in to find that not only had it been changed, but set to my primary email address linked to the account. This would have made it very possible to remove my old email address and take complete control over the account and cause all kinds of fun with billing issues seeing as how I don't have unlimited calling and I have it set up to automatically recharge my account when the funds get low.
Why isn't there an email verification or secret question type query before changing someone's primary email address? It just makes more sense to me to require you to respond to an email verifying that you really intended to release control of your skype account to another email address.
And before it's mentioned: yes, I changed my password, scanned my drive for viruses and malware after it happened. Didn't find anything but the password is really old as I rarely use the account.

The link I provided before was suppose to direct you to customer support, because customer support agent can check your account details. As I understand you were able to discuss your case with an agent through chat support.
If you were not satisfied with the response then you could have asked for a supervisor to take a look at your case.
This forum is user to user, meaning most people in this forum are experienced users who volunteer to help. Majority of answers are provided by people who do not have access to your account, therefore you need to sort this out with customer service.
I can pass along confirmation suggestion, but if you still have trouble with your account then you need to contact customer service through the link I provided before.

After responding to the "change email" email, support gave me the reset password instructions, which go to the email of the hacker.  Apparently the email associated with my facebook account has changed, b/c that doesn't work either.  WTH spotify? Why don't you train your support people to handle this issue correctly? After writing back, it's been 24 hours and have gotten no reponse. I don't understand why you treat paying customers this way.  If this can't be fixed within the next few hours, I'll be cancelling with my cc company.

    Take in mind that Spotify can take up to 48 hours to reply.
    They are handling your case.
    If you don't receive any email after the 48 range then feel free to email again.
    Don't email before the range because you'll create another thread and it might take even longer for the first email.

    If you need to change the iCloud ID on your devices, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
    To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

    You will need the password. If you can't get it reset via http://iforgot.apple.com (if you remember the answers to the account's security questions then you should be able to reset it via them) then try contacting Support in your country, they should be able to reset it.

    You can't delete an existing account, you can only choose to stop using it.  It will still be there should you decide to use it again in the future.

    If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must use the previous owner's password to get permission to use the device. If you cannot get the password your father put on the iPad you will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

    The post where I found the links is from Thursday, June 30, 2011. The links were attached to the word '''Flint''' in first paragraph, the name '''Elizabeth''' in the last paragraph and also the word '''surprise''' in the last paragraph.
    Earlier, I only noticed the word surprise in a different line was highlighted. I went into blog edit and removed and replaced the word with something else when I couldn't get rid of the link. When I went back to view the blog these other words were highlighted.
    Is it possible this is only visible on my computer??

    Sorry, but I'm going to question this again. The only way a BTinternet user can have a flickr pro account is by the association with their Broadband email address (either primary or sub account). Using any other email address (e.g. payg) will get the user a very limited Flickr account.
    Unless the primary email address already in use by Stuart is converted to a sub account, then it is likely to cause problems and effectively stop them being a pro user.
    The link you quoted has nothing to do with altering the user's Flickr status which is actually in question here.
    Now - I am not saying that you are wrong, to me it just doesn't add up with the info I am aware about with regard Flickr pro accounts.

    If by Apple account you mean you changed your Apple ID, you should be advised that your Apple ID is used or tied into a number of different functions and services. If you have changed your Apple ID, you may find the information and steps in the following article helpful.     For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices. 
    That all works.
    It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
    I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
