Account has been hacked and credit card charged (the long awaited sequel!)

So I started contacting Skype on Twitter and they very nicely asked me if I had offered up my information to a 'Recover your account' form. Which I hadn't, actually as I wasn't able to find it anywhere on this website. I acknowledge I may not notice everything, but I still can't actually find it anywhere, except through the link I was given on Twitter. Anyway, the best ones are usually not that easy to find, so I gathered it'd be fun. But after all, my information is a bit lonely, so I thought I'd try again because Skype liked the information so much the first time. Perhaps my information would get a bit of action if I filled it in again? I'm nice to my information like that. But now Skype doesn't want my information and tells me that 'Sorry, the page you requested is not available.' I think that's a bit uncool, actually because I got my information all dressed up and excited to have a great time with Skype but now my information is sitting alone and abandoned in a corner, all sad and lonely while Skype is out having fun with the money taken from my credit card, probably spending it with the information given by the guy who hacked my account. That's just not very nice and while filling my information into the form, I realised that the guy who hacked my account would be able to give Skype nearly all of that information too, as he has access to my account while I do not. Frankly, it's tough being my information, because it seems anyone can please Skype just as well as it can and after about seven years together, you'd think Skype would be a little nicer about it. 

Well, well, well! It seems Skype may after all have a little bit of a soft spot for my information!  I thought it was a bit sad to see it sitting there in the corner with nowhere to go, so decided to have one more go at the second of the forms mentioned above, so Information and I popped over to that page and seriously, my information was all over it, being so attentive to Skype's needs, you wouldn't believe it. I was really proud of Information there, humming a little 'Nobody dooooes is betterrrrr' to myself.  So Information was accepted in and Skype was all 'ooo' and 'ahh' about it, and then told Information to hop along now and that Skype will get back to us in another 72 hours, but that before that, Skype would send a sneaky (perhaps even flirty!) little email that will be waiting for us in the inbox when we check.  So on the plus side, now we have another Support Request Number (3 times a charm! ), but sadly no cheaky (perhaps even flirty!) email in the inbox. I can't help feeling that there's a chance that Skype is simply stringing Information along for Skype's own ends and needs and perhaps Skype doesn't like Information quite as well as Skype says? Frankly, I think Skype has sent its sneaky (perhaps even flirty!) email to the guy who hacked my account instead of sending it to Information and me. I think Skype may be a bit loose.

    My account has been hacked and my credit card charged by the hacker and all Skype has to say about it, is that I need to wait 72 hours for them to look at my query? I cannot log into my account. I have filled in the support form, but I haven't received an email notification from Skype that I have submitted it. I'm guessing that's because my account is now in the use of someone else, as the hacker changed the account over to his email address. I know he did that, as I got a notification of changing the email address at the same moment as I was logged out of Skype.  I use Skype professionally and this issue is causing me a world of trouble. The fact that Skype is a paid service ought to mean that there is better support than 'we will look at it within 72 hours.' 

    So nearly 24 hours later, and still no information either in this forum or via email notification from Skype.  Does this mean that Skype is instead communicating with the person who hacked my account? Since the hacker now has my account registered with their email address, It seems that's the most likely situation, given the unparallelled course of incompetence I'm experiencing from them.  If Skype had taken action on this right away (the moment I made the complaint, which was minutes after my account was hacked) the charge that the hacker made on my credit card would not be lost due to his usage of my account. But apparently, stopping fraud is so low on Skype's agenda that this can go on and on. If I had not been on Skype when it happened (prompting me to instantly block my credit card) there would have been nothing to stop the hacker from making multiple charges to my card, potentially running into the hundreds of dollars.  Instead of action to deal with my problems, I'm receiving notifications that I have earnt 'a new rank' in the Skype community. Whoop-dee-bleedin'-doo!

    Have you contacted your card issuer to cancel that card and changed your iTunes account password ? The hackers added two pakistan subscriptions and my debit card attached to my account was charged $49.99 and $29.99. I immediately cancelled the subscriptions and changed my password.     Hello,
       I had an old account with the username rmg185 which tied to the e-mail [removed for privacy]  I stopped using that account, however it appears my credit card is still linked to that account.
    Over the past few days there has been over $70 in charges coming from Skype on my credit card.  These are fradulent charges and my problem is that I no longer have Comcast as an ISP so I can't recover my password for that account to get in there and stop someone from charging my credit card..
    Is there a way to recover my password or at least freeze that credit card so they can't keep charging to it?  I'd rather not freeze my whole credit card and have to get a new one, changing all of my payment info on tons of sites...  Any help you could offer would be greatly appreaciated.

  • Account hacked and credit card charged!!!

    I received today 3 emails from Skype. one about Skype Manager, one about Auto-Recharge and a last one about an order for 10 euro that has been made with my credit card. In my account info I fount a strange primary email address @ 163.com [hyperlink removed] and in skype manager setting there is an administrator with username [redacted to protect privacy] and me as a fellow member. The problem is that my credit card has already been charged with 10 euro but I cant see the transaction in my Purchase history page. I can see it only as last purchase of payment method but when I click on "Download this as printable invoice" the "Oops, something went wrong..." page appears. Please help!!

    First things, first: for your safety and protection, please never, ever include any personally identifiable information such as your real name, Skype account name, e-mail address, or a telephone number in a post on a public Community or forum such as this.  Thanks!
    If you have not already done so, change your Skype account and payment method account passwords immediately.  Report the fraudulent charges to your payment method issuer and to Skype Customer Service. 
    You will need to contact Skype Customer Service to sort this, and to assume control of your account.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    As you know you must contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request. You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started!

    hi everyone,
    I just recieved a mail from skype saying my default email address has been changed successfully but i didnt change it. when i try to log in using my skype account name i cant, it says wrong password. 
    so i log in using my hotmaill address and i see the default email has changed to a mail somewhere in russia. I try to contact customer support and its near impossible, can someone help me please.
    I just checked the usage history in my account (using the hotmail address to view) and there are calls being made in russia right now using my credit.
    i have this account for years and i would like to get it back.
    Is there anyone who can help?

    Hi, I am desperate!  Someone has hacked and taken over my skype account!  I had to create a new account just to make this post!  I can't get into my other account at all as he has changed it to his details and email address, so I can't just login and change the password. Can anyone please shed any light on how I can stop him and take back control of my account asap.  he is hacking into all my contacts and asking for money and probably getting their username and passwords too.  i have sent in a ticket but that could take forever.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!     There isn't a telephone # to contact Skype.
    I suggest you, send an email directly to Skype and explain your problem in detail and they will be able to sort it.

    apparently someone hacked in, and asking people on my contact list to send money to paypal account!!!
    i tried resetting password, no luck.. ive tried everything.. emails, codes, it wont even pull up my account with the email i provided.. yet the piece of **** is online..
    im thinking, no big deal, ill just contact online customer suppo...NOPE. Not available.. "sorry we are having difficulties"... no sh*t.. something microsoft is notorious for.
    what can i do now?? how do i get help?? freaking computer games have great online support... and SKYPE doesnt?..

    I am sorry it took me a while to get back to this neighborhood in the Community.  Here is another link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    Skype is aware there can be website problems when attempting to reach their customer service unit.  If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser, and choose a different path through the various options than you tried previously.  Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.
    Please do not give up!  People are getting through.
