Account Info Update?

Greetings
Not having purchased any songs in a while, I decided to upgrade 2 of my iTunes albums. When I clicked the buy button, the window appeared telling me my account info has changed. When I put my password in and and click the billing info button, an alert on my account page tells me my credit card is about to expire, but it does not expire until 2011 (and it shows this). I cannot purchase until I put my 3-digit security code in again.
Is this legit or a possible scam? Could this have happened because I recently upgraded iTunes to 8.1.1?

    I am trying to set up a family sharing with a new iMac and other Mac pro computer and other apple products.     Happy Holidays!  The resource below explains how to edit the credit card information for the Apple ID account that you want to use for Family Sharing.  Once you've made the changes, I would suggest you sign out of your iTunes Store on all of your devices, and then restart them.  The changes should take place quickly.  There is a link to the iTunes Store support below if you need more help.

    Alternatively, you can:
    Open iTunes.
    Click iTunes Store.

    From the Account Information page, click Edit to the right of Payment Type.
    You can see the payment methods that the iTunes Store accepts in the Payment Type section. If you want to remove the payment method, select None in the Payment Type section. See what to do if None isn't showing or you can't select it.

    After you change your payment information, the iTunes Store places an authorization hold on your credit card.

    Back in 02/2012 I was charged twice for "Kingdoms at War" , 200 Nobility points, A thinking Ape. I didn't order this. I have changed my password twice. I just updated my account info to use ITunes for downloading music and a charge for $39.98 was taken from my account for this again. In researching this, it appears that "Kingdoms at War" is a free app. . . so someone must have accessed my account to purchase gold. . . or ITunes erred. How do I get this resolved? I would like to use ITunes without being forced to pay this $39.98.

    Thanks for the help Niel.  I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions.  After numerous guesses, finally got them right.  Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info.  Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again.   Thanks for the fast response!!

    You are most welcome. It would be best to delete those apps and re-purchase them (or re-download them if they were free) under you own Apple ID. That way you will be able to continue to update them, and will also be able to access them under your Purchase history if you need to download them again, or download them to another device.

    I suspect you have the original, 1G iPod touch. Those can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3,
    If y ohave a 2G those can go as high as 4.2.1

  • Help! Performed software update, now emails and account info gone.

    Yesterday morning I performed the software update (Java, couple of security updates, QuickTime), and restarted.
    Essentially, every e-mail received between early November 2006 and yesterday is gone. All folders created since then (and since I have started a new business, there are a lot), as well as new account info (new provider for second business, separate from first) is gone, or at least missing in action.
    I've been backing up monthly, but for some reason there is no backup since one in January, and Backup (the software I've been using) apparently can't restore even that one – not that that will solve more than a small part of the problem.
    ANY suggestions on retrieving the missing emails will be gratefully received, as well as any ideas on how this happened in the first place.

    Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of some filesystem corruption that should have been fixed first, or not having installed the update properly (e.g. applications running while installing it), or having ignored Apple’s "Important: Please read before installing" warnings, etc.
    Although you may have lost the account settings as a result of some preferences file corruption, you shouldn’t have lost any actual messages or mailboxes. Have you tried searching for them in Spotlight? In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Can you see the missing mail there?
    If the messages have really been deleted for some reason, and they are not on the server and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.
    And you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described in the following article, in case there is something amiss in the filesystem that has a bearing on what happened:

  • I'm trying to order prints via iPhoto. I correctly go through the process but when I click "buy"(1-click is enabled), I'm told that my account info has changed and to go in and confirm or approve my Account Info. However the info is correct and updated.

    I'm told when trying to order that I must approve account info. I do that, over and over but always get the same screen. Now i'm told I can get help for this issue but must pay for it, as it is "technical support".

    Log into your online Apple account, Account, click on Change Account Information and reenter all of the information in your account.  It might be that the expiration date on your credit card and passed and needs to be updated. That's what happened to me.  In any case, reenter all of the information, save, relaunch iPhoto and try again.

    My iPhone 3 will not recognise my update account info (specifically user id).  When prompting me for my password for App updates & purchases the prompt refers back to my previous inactive username therfore it will not accept my password.  If have triple checked my account information in apple id settings & even changed the password for a third time.  I have also tried turning the phone on & off once my id settings were updated.  can anyone help?

    5. Enter your user name and password.
    6. Tap "Country/Region."
    7. Tap "Change Country/Region"
    8. Select the country/region where you are located.
    9. Tap "Done".
    Note: If the change doesn't take effect, sign out of account and sign in again.

    I just thought of something. I plugged it into my iMac and synced some songs over to it from my iTunes. Is there a chance that is why the apps ask for my iTunes account information? But his iTunes account is still in the iTunes Store in settings, I'm so confused.

    I updated my billing info on the website, and turned on "express payment".  Still, I cannot download onto my iPad.  I get an error message saying "PayPal is not supported on this device".  I used a visa card when I updated my billing info.  Why can I not figure out how to correct this?

    The iPhone should get the account info from a Sync in iTunes. Ensure you are logged in (see your account name at top right of iTunes) before doing a sync.

    Ok.  Found something that said to shut down and hold the option, command, p, and r keys on restart.  Held them down for a few restarts and everything automatically signed in and works.  Woohoo!!!

    There might be a block on your account (iTunes or bank). Yep. Best to contact them and have them check your account.
