Okay so here is my story. A couple months ago I needed a paypal account so my mom created one. She put down my name but used her age so it was already confusing and kinda messed up. I was unaware that she put that in and one day I needed to transfer some money from my bank account to my paypal and my request was denied because I entered the wrong date of birth. So now I'm stuck because my legal identification would not work. I thought you can be 14 and have a paypal. I recently had my mom make a paypal account and I made a student account with it but there is one problem. I want to add my bank account to my new paypal student account but it wont let me add it because it is registered on my old account. I tried contacting them via email but as usual they in no way helped me. If you have any advice for me I would love to hear it. I need a paypal account badly because it is my way of accepting payments for people I work for (I am a Java Developer). Thanks again!

There are software products that can be used to limit kids access to internet sites. Search www.versiontracker.com. One such program is called Kids Server, another is Intego Content Barrier, and a third is KidsGoGoGo. All are commercial products.
You can also block specific websites by address simply by adding it to the OS X hosts file. This requires a bit of Terminal usage. Open the Terminal application and at the prompt enter the following (press return at the end of each line):
prompt > sudo nano /etc/hosts
You will be asked to enter your admin password. It will not be echoed. When the editor opens you will see something like the following:
# Host Database
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
Insert additional lines at the end of the file that look as follows:127.0.0.1 insertURLhere
Then press CTRL-X to exit the editor. You will be asked if you want to save the changes. Answer yes.
Quit the Terminal when you are finished. Any attempt to access a site entered into the hosts file will be routed to 127.0.0.1 which is the localhost and will fail. Because the hosts file can only be edited by an admin or root user your kids will not be able to change it. The main drawback is you must use a specific site address or a site address with wildcard (*.aol.com, for example, will block any site that contains .aol.com.)
If you're not into the Terminal game there is a shareware preference pane called Hostal (www.versiontracker.com) that can be used in a similar fashion as the above, but is a bit more user friendly and does not actually modify the standard hosts file.

I don't remember it being clearly documented either-- but I'm guessing the amount of space for emails can't be more than the storage allotment for your BC plan.
If you do plan on getting into BC for freelance I highly recommend using Google Apps for your email. You can host it at your domain and it's pretty affordable if you want just a few email addresses. The price you pay is definitely worth the stability and features you get with Google Apps.
In my experience, BC email in the past was somewhat unreliable. From what I've been told by some clients they rarely have issues anymore with it but BC does have some downtime on occasion and email is affected for a short period of time. You won't lose mail-- it will just be delayed.
Sorry I don't have an answer on email storage limits but I will always recommend using Google Apps for your hosted email for reliability and features... if your business depends on email-- go Google.

ICloud Account limits you to 3 account setups per device.

It appears that Apple has set a limit to all devices to only allow three iCloud creations. That means if you hve a family of four you can not create all the iCloud's using the same computer. Better yet if you have a company or an organization and want to take advantage of iCoud services you need to do this from each computer you have. Lets not let you be efficient and have an IT person or HR peson set up the account to ensure uniformity. Because after the third account you get "Account limit Reached" you have reached the limit of free accounts for this device !
Also, if you sell your Apple device, guess what the next person inherits your limit cap. This is tracked by serial number. This is a extremly narrow thinking for an inovated company such as Apple. Trying to position itself to expand in small and mid size companies, this seems short sited. I hope that Apple will address this issue quickly. Maybe have an avenue for a company to submit their e-mails for iCloud accounts to ensure that fraudulant accounts are not being created.
If anyone has found a work around or fix for this issue please respond. Also, any other people that are having the same issue please let Apple know. Especialy Small to Medium businesses need to offer feedback to Apple on how they can be assisted and encouraged to use Apple products to best serve their company's needs.

My account limited - no customer service - no answers!

Please someone reply to me! My account was limited because of suspected fraudulent activity, "a sign in near Tampa". I happen to be close to Tampa on holiday and I was indeed signing in. This happened July 14th, I do not have much time and need to get my funds as they are my only source of income while on holiday for the next 3 weeks. I have completed all steps required but my photo ID is still not verified. It should not take this long. Dear Paypal Customer service: Please move things along! Account Limitation with NO solution.

This is maybe the same problem like anyone. Account got limited, Paypal asked you to upload your gov ID for review. To do that, you have to go to your Resolution Page and find that magical "Resolve" button where it is nowhere to be found. I'm already tired browsing here and there for solution; and ended up with no answers. Emailed, no answer. Called, number invalid. What other options are there for us to reach you? Click on the words "Contact" at the bottom of your paypal account summary page and use the phone option (if there is one in the country you are in) > click on the "call us" option on the left (fees "may" apply so check the cost with your phone tariff first, as you sometimes have to wait a while to connect).
When you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get transfered to an agent or say the word "agent".

Account limitations flaw?

My teenager has fooled Panther and probably Tiger. My 10.3.9 acccount management allows me to prevent my teenager from using applications that are not on the 'list' It works well EXCEPT My teenager has figured out the all they have to do is download a new copy of the banned program and install it each time they want to use it. If they quit and try to reopen it IT won't work. So they have left me (so far) 12 copies of AIM (aol instant messenger. on my hard drive. Apple customer service recommended using the DSL provider software to block access to the AIM website The problem with that is you have to list web sites that are acceptable and websites tyhat aren't. You just can't block a website. (isnt that silly verizon yahoo) I have repaired disk permissions and other account members can do the same trick. So is this is a security flaw in OS X? as a mac lover since the 512KE in 1986 I am a little worried.

Here my problem I need to be able to limit my AD users to a 10min access to the WLAN. I see you can do this for guest accounts, but you have to manually enter a username and password. I would like the web authentication to use our ACS which is tied in to our AD. Is there a way to do this?

Here the whole story. I have a bookstore that going to have “Demo” pc for students to buy. The want to show the internet on these devices, but our security guy require all users to logon. I was hoping to find a way to let user logon quickly to test these devices.
I have already figure out the web auth and that great feature, but you have to manually enter each user. If I could get that to use AD and limit each to 10min that would be great. I would like to setup a SSID for the demo devices and limit users to 10 min.
I have 2 WiSM controllers running 6.0 also have WCS .

Limited user accounts

When I attempt the following sequence:
system prefs./accounts/'select' user account/limitations/some limits/'select' others/choose "locate"/go to hard drive/'select' application/'select' add.
Then that sequence gets repeated to add more applications for the user to access. Also, the 'applications' I'm selecting are not in the 'applications' folder. They are stored in their own separate folders.
Then I exit System Prefs.
Then I reopen System Prefs. and all the applications I had selected are gone from the 'users' selection, except one.
Any ideas or suggestions or is this too vague?

Having a not updated iPod has it's disadvantages but I don't think it physically damages the unit.

My account is limited(Under age) and i have money

So i made an account and sent in proof and stuff, but they made my account limited so i cant do any thing pretty much and i recently ot a refund which is now stuck in paypal because it didnt go back on my credit card so my questions are: i turn 18 on august 28, is that when the liimit will be removed? also, is there anyway to send that money back to my credit card or use the money?

Fixed1 Auto-detect apparently wasn't my problem. In this case I had another software (XPLAY) which was causing interference with the connection so iTunes and XPLAY were competing for control and nobody won ... until I took off XPLAY. Running well now. Thanks for the responses though and glad we're all moving along!

Can't transfer money in my account to my bank?!

I want to transfer my money into my account over to my bank. I understand you can only withdraw 500/month, but my account is at 100% (one of the criteria to lift the 500 limit). So what's the problem?!

Possible conflict with iTunes 7 and non-admin account

I've tried burning cd's in my usual windows account (limited) and it comes up with the error message "disc burner or software not found", but when I log into my admin account and try and burn an mp3 then it burns just fine. I wonder if they changed the way version 7 burns cd's...
Any solutuions or fixes?

I'm not really looking for a way to roll it back. I was just hoping to find a fix for the current version, or make them aware that there is a problem with running it in a non-admin account.

Cannot add Dreamspark student subscription to my account.

Hi, I am currently holding a Dreamspark student account. I have register Azure for free before and now I try to add student subscription. Here is what happen when I click on register from Dreamspark page.
"Oops! You already used your one DreamSpark or you are not eligible for it."
And whenever I want to start a project, wordpress for example, I have to add my credit card information. As I understood, Dreamspark student account does not need a credit card information or time limitation and account limitation.
I think because I have added the free Dreamspark subscription before the student subscription so it won't allow me to add another one. Could anyone help me fix this problem?

Can't access other accounts

Suddenly I can't access other accounts in my Mac, everything works fine but when I choose to log into other user account it just remains in the progress bar and never logs in, even if I create a new user account it does not let me in (password or not). The information is intact but I just can log into the administrator account (no changes has been done in the accounts administration since they where created, everything happens in a sudden)

With 10.3.9 you would go System Preferences-> Accounts -> (click on an Account)-> Limitations, then either No Limits or Some Limits depending how they were originally set up.
You can adjust the criteria at this point.
You may want to try deleting an account that is least used and re-adding a different one in its place. This will give you an account to experiment with to see if it behaves as the other accounts you're having trouble with.
You'll likely be able to solve the problem by seeing what is different between this new account and your old ones.

Can I use 1 (company) apple account to install a (free) app to several iphones?

With our company, we have an app in the app store.
But suppose we have some company iPhones that we want to use for promotional issues. More concrete: we would like to install the app on those (10) iPhones, so people (journalists, politicians) can learn what this game is all about.
The question is: can we use our 1 apple account to install this game on these several iphones? Or is the number of apple iphones with the same apple account limited?
Actually, the game is not free, but we'd install the games with some generated promotion codes.
"Just try it", you might say, but the problem is we still have to buy these iphones. Buying them to see afterwards that the installation with 1 account doesn't work, would be kinda silly, wouldn't it.

One possible way of making this work would be with the AppStore VolumePurchase Program.....the issue is that the Apps can't be free. If your company App is available to the general public, then you could use the VPP to place it on the phones without having to have a corporate iTunes account on each phone. You would basically be buying the App from yourself. Gifting is another option, but this also won't work with free Apps. You might be able to make the VPP work, somehow.....hope this helps.

Permissions for software use in managed account

I have developed educational software that I cannot access through a managed account in 10.4 and 10.3. When installed in 10.4, I can access it from an admin account, but in a managed account, I get a message saying I do not have permission. In System Preferences>Accounts>Managed Account>ParentalControls>Finder&System>Applications, the software is not included in the list, but clicking Locate lets me click it from a list but the message comes up that the software "...does not work with the limitations you have selected." I do not see where I selected any limitations except to make the account managed. In 10.3, I went into SystemPreferences>Accounts>Managed Account and the list of software to assign permissions in managed account (Limitations) has a place to check a box in front of the software, but the box does not stay checked after trying unsuccessfully to open the software. I use PackageMaker as my installer software and have checked all the permissions for read/write/execute (0777) for owner, group, and others. However, when I go into the installed software's GetInfo Ownership & Permissions and the owner is the managed account, the pull-downs are grey and disabled. The same happens when I merely drag/drop the software into the Applications folder.

That message really annoys me because it is an example of a poorly worded (misleading) dialogue - the problem has nothing to do with unix "permissions". It just means the app isn't in the list of applications approved by the "admin" for use in the managed account.
If you are the developer, make sure you have given your app a unique 'CFBundleIdentifier' or else it likely won't be possible to add the programme to 'mcx_settings', meaning it won't work in a "managed" account.

If the app isn't a "package", give it a unique "creator" code there is probably some procedure somewhere about figuring out what is allowed or what has already been taken, but I'm not a developer so I can't give you any more details...
