Account pop-up disappeared?

I have an account with an alias, and in the account info, the alias address follows the account address with a comma. But the Account pop-up does not appear in the Compose window. There is no way to send using the alias.
This is not a facility I use very often, and I am not sure just when the menu disappeared. Maybe on the 10.4.5 upgrade? OTOH, not long ago I added a second account definition for a different server, maybe it disappeared then...
Any suggestions on what I can check or change to get the Account popup?
Thanks...

    Sort of.
    - Apps and other purchases are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - You have to log into the account opd do certain things with the purchases like transfer then to your computer.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

How do I change or recover a forgotten Apple ID Password?
If you've forgotten your Apple ID Password or want to change it, go to My Apple ID and follow the instructions. SeeChanging your Apple ID password if you'd like more information.
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

I dragged my notes from one iCloud account to another iCloud account and they disappeared.  How do I find them?

    Hello reallilybart,
Thank you for the question. You can export the calendar events from your previous iCloud account and then import them into your new iCloud account.
First, use these steps to export your events from your original account and make note of where you save the file to:
    Export a calendar’s events
In Calendar, click the calendar’s name.If you don’t see your calendars, click Calendars.
Choose File > Export > Export.
Choose a location for the file, and then click Export. The events are exported in an iCalendar (.ics) file.
Next, quit the Calendar application, and log out of your original iCloud account in System Preferences > iCloud.  Then log in with your new iCloud account and open Calendar.  The final step is to import the file into the calendar for your new iCloud account
Use these steps to import the calendar events:
    Import events into a calendar
If you want, create a new calendar for the events.Add or delete a calendar
Choose File > Import > Import.
Locate and select the calendar file that contains the events, and then click Import.
Choose the calendar you created or another calendar to add the events to.
You can also drag a .ics file to Calendar. The events in the file are added to the calendar that’s highlighted in the Calendar list.

  • .Mac aliases no longer appearing in Account pop-up menu

Hi, a couple of days ago I noticed that my .Mac aliases are no longer listed in the Account pop-up menu of new messages. I thought it's a temporary .Mac problem, but this has continued.
The account is a .Mac account (not POP nor IMAP), and I can go to Mail>Preferences>Accounts and click on the "Edit Email Aliases" button and can see that they are all still there on .Mac.
How can I get them to show up again?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Hilal.
I don’t know whether this would make a difference, but it may be worth a try:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
    4. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
You’ll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

Question why has my balance on my itune account have totally disappeared when I have only been using it for less than a year? had still fair bit of money in it too. around $60

First, make sure you're logged into the iTunes Store using the account ID and password you set up, or used, when you redeemed your card/gift.  If you are, try signing out of the account and back in.
If you're sure you are using the correct account and that you're signing in to the iTunes Store, and signing out and back in doesn't help, go to the Purchase History and review your purchases to make sure that you should indeed have a balance left. iTunes doesn't always refresh the balance it shows, so it's possible you spent the money and it just wasn't being reflected in the display. This display error can usually be corrected by logging out of the iTunes Store and then back in.
If you confirm that you should have balance left but the iTunes Store isn't showing it correctly, send a message to the iTunes Store customer service department through the contact form you'll find by selecting the most applicable section of their Support page (select the Contact Support link and follow the instructions) and explain the problem to them.
    Good luck.

  • Account Pop Up Mix up

ok my i was trying to update an app i have, and i know you always have to confirm your password to allow a purchase or an update. but now the probably is that my sisters itunes account popped up on my ipad and know i can't update the app or get new ones. anyway i can get my account to show up when i purchase or update an app?

    Did you try this?
Go to the purchased tab of the app store and find the apps that need updates in there. Tap on one of the apps in order to take you to the app description page. Tap on the app in there and see if you can update them that way.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. But .... You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If  those don't help, try signing into your account everywhere on the iPad, in the App Store, iTunes, the settings and in iBooks as well. You can access your ID in all three apps in the lower left corner of the main tab in each app.
If that still doesn't work, maybe you will have to restore the device - if you have a backup - you could restore form that.

  • HT1311 The wrong account pops up for password while updating apps

I have a problem with updating my apps. Well, i created a new account and am currently using it in both itunes and my device to download apps but when i want to upate my apps, my other account pops up for password but i can't use it. Anyway i want my new accout to pop up when updating, what can i do?

You have to log into the account that purchased an app to update an app. You you have apps that need updating that ere purchased from more than one account you have to update them individually until and the remaining apps that need updates were purchased from one account.

  • Why dosignatures in my POP mail account continue to disappear?

Signatures disppear in my POP account. They show up in "All Signatures" but are not usable when sending an email.
I reenter the signatures in my POP account, and they are usable for a while, but suddenly, when I click on Signature in an email to send, signatures do not appear. Then I have to go back and reenter them again.

I have exactly the same problem. I'm also with Plusnet, Mail always worked fine until maybe a week or so ago. I'd upgraded to 10.10.1 earlier in the year and had some problems with Mac freezing or shutting down at random, which seemed to have eventually sorted itself out somehow, eventually, but never had any problems with Mail.
Problem is exactly the same as you state, have just tried what you said Plusnet suggested and no luck for me either.
Have now also done the most recent upgrade to 10.10.2 but Mail still doesn't work properly.
I have 4 Mailboxes for different addresses, the three affected ones are all (incoming)mail.plus.net (outgoing)relay.plus.net the only one unaffected is (incoming)pop.secureserver.net (outgoing)smtpout.secureserver.net
Some emails have not been sent or sent without attachments and v.v.slow to get incoming emails. I have to check on webmail to make sure I get the incoming emails but it doesn't show the sent messages from Mac Mail.
Hope this info helps in some way, do post if you find a solution/cause.
    Cheers, Chris

  • Network Accounts - Red Dot disappeared?

    Afternoon all
We have 12x iMacs on an Active Directory network. We have the usual 1-2 minute wait after boot before network accounts are available - however 10.8 gave us that red dot that clears once accounts are available, but in Mavericks there's a pop-up warning that disappears, but no red dot, so you can't tell when the problem has cleared and when you are able to log on.
Is this an option or has it been removed entirely?
    Thanks, Tom

I do believe it's fairly normal... one of the crazy things about a fully cooperative multitasking OS, it can try to connect before the Interfaces are up & ready.
Found a work-around. This command adds a delay, in this case 45 seconds, before displaying the Login Window.
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow StartupDelay -int 45
If the Login Window UI detects that the network servers are available when it starts, it will skip the delay, also if network servers become available before the delay expires, the Login Window UI cancels the delay and displays.

  • User Accounts iTunes, Apps disappear each logout/logon after 10.4.4 upgrade

My whole desktop goes back to default - my files and iTunes and applications are under a username1, username 2, username3, etc. each time I logoff and log back on. I tried the username_new and idisk restore and notheing helps. It's like Groundhog Day (the Bill Murray movie) -- I configure my desktop, restore my Dock with my apps, reimport my iTunes library and then logoff and back on and it all 'disappears' and goes back to like it was when I first got it out of the box. I upgraded to 10.4.4. I try to rename my accounts and my permissions on iDisk are invalid, my keychain keeps popping up and asking for my password every 5 to 10 minutes, etc., even though I gave permissions in keychain access, etc. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If you have all your files backed up including all the folders, like Documents etc then Delete the account and then in the Users folder make a folder with the shortname of the account you want to setup then copy all the folder which were in your original user folder, like Music and Documents etc into there.
Then make a new account, ensuring the shortname is the same as the folder you've created in the users folder, then it will say that a folder already exists in there with the same name, do you want to use this folder as your home folder, say yes, and it should be ok from there.

  • My Mail accounts in Mail Disappeared it restarted from hanging.  The mailboxes I found at the Library, how do I put it back into MAIL?

Please Help, My MAIL has been hanging, so I forced Quit the program, and restarted my iMac. When I opened Mail again, all the e-mail accounts both POP and IMAP accounts disappeared. Fortunately, I found the POP- Accounts in the library folder but I don't know how to link it back to MAIL.  Can somebody help me put my e-mail accounts back to MAIL.

I have tried several tests to see whether I could duplicate your problem. And so far I haven't been able to.
For example: I take my project files and drag them out of their project folder into a different drive (to the root level of the drive). Then I delete that original project folder. I create a new folder in the second drive and rename it to something completely different. I then drag my individual project files and folder into this new folder.
I repeat the process with the reference event – making a new, renamed event folder on the second drive and dragging the individual files into it. Then hiding the original event folder.
When I open FCP, it not only sees the renamed project, it is still linked to the renamed event.
So I'm not sure whether all that's encouraging or discouraging.
It seems to me that if you rename your original back up file (the one with the date) to Currentversion and then hide the other, it should appear in your project library in FCP.
As far as Time Machine is concerned, it all depends on your preference settings. Open TM and se what your last BU was.
    Good luck.
    Russ

  • Cannot send attachments in Mail using .mac account, pop account is fine!

Within my Mail.app, I have 2 accounts: one is a .mac account, the other a pop account.
When I send attachments (jpg always and sometimes pdf) with the .mac account, they do not get encoded properly and my recipients cannot view them -- or they can view, say, 10% of the photo.
When I send the same attachments with the pop account, and within the same Mail.app, I do NOT have this problem.
Furthermore, if I send the attachment from my .mac webmail, I do NOT have the problem.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
I have tried Repairing Permissions, deleting the outbox.mbx (and emptying the trash).
Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy.
I am running Mail 2.0.5 on Tiger 10.4.3
Thanks a lot in advance, Neil
Long live the sunflower iMac, iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Hello Neil.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
    None that I'm aware of.
The Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for message/attachment encoding (which is the internet standard) for all email accounts.
Is your POP account and the SMTP server used for the account provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
If so, try selecting/using your ISP's SMTP server (the same SMTP server used to send mail via your ISP's POP account) to send mail via your .Mac account as a test.
