Hi folks, I'm having an odd issue that I believe happened a few months ago while my old boss was still here. A user at a remote office began suddenly began receiving outlook password prompts on her computer and phone. I reset her password and logged her on to her computer with the new pw.
A bit later she calls back and says the prompts still appear. I check her account in AD and it shows as locked, so I unlock it. Then I connect to her computer and log her off, and when I try and log back on it says the account is locked out. At this point, I can't log on anymore, I just get the account is locked out message...even after just choosing unlock account in AD.
I'm pretty sure this happened a few months ago too, my boss at the time used some command line utility to check on it, and he found that the account wasn't eligible to either have...

    you can search the logs of the DC that's locking the account for error 4740 to find what machine is causing the lockout (in the error text). then you can at least look at that PC/server and see if something is running under that account to cause the issue.
    if you have multiple DCs and don't know which one is locking out you can use the lockoutstatus.exe tool from MS to find it -  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18465

    Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update.  You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time.  And of course make a backup of your whole library first.  It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates.  Better safe...

    Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
    Then do some house cleaning in iCloud (or purchase more storage)
    Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Select a device if more that one > Show All Apps and turn off some apps that you don't need or care to be backed up.
    Also, connect to iTunes and empty your Camera Roll onto your computer. Photos & videos tend to eat up a lot of space.

    Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
    Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
    Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
    Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
    Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.

    Sorry, but you can't, if you live in Haiti. As you say yourself, there is no iTunes Store for Haiti and you are not allowed to use the iTunes Store of any other country.
    If you live in a country where there is an iTunes Store, check to see if Apple sells physical gift cards in your country and if so purchase and redeem one of those. There is no way to purchase an electronic gift certificate from Apple without a credit card from the country whose iTunes Store you wish to use.

    A very strange thing started to happen to my Macbook Pro since yesterday. My Imap accounts won't go online. My internet is working fine. My POP accounts sync normally. When I try to put the Imap accounts online Mail gives me the following message "error 51 - network is unreacheable". I have no idea of how to correct this.

    Well, I don’t know what could be the problem either, but something to look at is that there is nothing wrong with your network settings.
    In particular, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Try also turning OFF all the network port configurations except the one needed to connect to Internet and see whether that makes a difference -- if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.

  • Droid 1 won't unlock

    Earlier today I dropped my phone, but nothing cracked or broke and it looks just fine. I've used it since then, too. But I just got a text and when I went to slid the bar over to unlock my phone, it won't slide. It starts to move and it vibrates, but it won't slide all the way and thus my phone stays locked. I've restarted it a few times, pulled the battery out and let it sit, and it still won't unlock.
    Anybody have any solutions/advise? It's really bugging me just watching the notification light blink and I can't check it >:(

    I know it can be upsetting to have content in your phone that you need to access, but cannot.  Let's try to figure this out, and hope it didn't get internally damaged with the fall.  Are you still unable to unlock your phone?  Are you able to answer it if it rings, or place phone calls?  Since you have already tried restarting and pulling the battery, the next best option is a Hard Reset.  You may have to use the Alternate Method if you're still unable to use the keys on your phone.

  • Do I really need to wait 57 days to turn on iTunes Match?!

    Last month I downloaded all my previously purchase music from iCloud to one computer to consolidate everything for the iTunes Match launch. I downloaded from my two Apple ID accounts, one I use for iCloud and one I use for store purchases, both of which I've used to purchase music from previously. I turned on Match and all went well on my computer side but when I turned on Match on my iPhone, I got the "Device Is Already Associated With an Apple ID....this device can be used with another Apple ID in 57 days." When I click OK to that it takes me to a screen that says "Add this computer to iCloud to share this music..." there are two buttons, one says "No Thanks" and one says "Add This Computer"...neither button works. The iPhone Music settings is showing the ID I purchased Match with.
    If anyone else has this problem I would appreciate any help. It is just insane if I am being told that I need to wait 57 days to use what I just purchased, just because I was being proactive in consolidating all my purchased music.

    I've had this problem too. I had to call apple and have them reset everything and it took a couple days. lesson learned: write down security questions and answers!

  • Apple makes you wait 8 hours to try to access your account

    This is insanity.  All of a sudden my devices are telling me I need to answer a bunch of security questions that I have no idea what the answers are.  I can't access my apple ID.  I can't make any purchases.  I can't do anything for at least 8 hours.  The only available tech support is scheduling a phone call for like THREE days from now.  What the **** Apple??  You close my account down and make it impossible for me to get help for up to 3 days?!?!?!?  This is bull$h!t

    Says that I can have a reset sent to my alternate email address, but the link they describe being underneath the first two security questions that is supposed to say "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email protected]" doesn't exist.
    Hey Apple, great job completely crippling your customers.  You block my account, and provide no way for me to gain access.  I can't make a new account because if I delete this one, all my purchases disappear.  I can make a second one, but that means I will constantly have to switch back and forth and that will invalidate any purchases that I've made on the opposing account.
    This is an extremely poor security strategy.  Not thought through at all.  Apple, why don't you spend a few of those Billions of dollars just laying aroud and do slightly less than a half-assed job when coming up with a security plan.

    My iCloud email account won't sign in. Every time i try to long on it say "Unable to verify account name or password". I just reset the password to what i thought was my iCloud account,  but ended up just being my apple ID. It signs in on my iphone with the password i try to type in to my Mac but it says it's wrong, help??

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

    I recently updated to Mavericks and now all my e-mail accounts won't send. They all receive ok but when I send I get a message "sender address rejected by server" and " Authentification required" The passwords are still intact

    Check the Mail settings for your account, especially the SMTP (outgoing) address, type of authentication, and entry of the proper email username and password. You can do this when you select the account then under the outgoing mail server use the dropdown menu to select the Edit option. Select your outgoing configuration in the list. Check the settings below, then click on the Advanced tab and check those settings.
    If all is OK, then I suggest your reinstall Mavericks:
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
    OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
                     if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.

  • Yahoo! Mail Account Won't Add After Restore

    After restoring my iPad through iTunes, my Yahoo! Mail account won't add back. When I restored, restoring from a backup crashed my iPad so I created a new one and lost all my data. I go to Settings > Mail Contacts And Calendars > Add Account > Yahoo! I type in all my data, I know the password is correct because I can log in on Safari. I tap the next button and it presents me with the error dialog "Server Unavailable, please try again later." I must have tried this 20+ times. I've waited for weeks and it has been to no avail. Please help.

    I found out that older Yahoo! accounts no longer work on iOS devices. You'll have to update to the latest version of Yahoo! mail. Unfortunatly, some people (including me) can't update to the latest version at this point in time. It's understandable because I've had m Yahoo! account since 1998. Maybe they dropped support for updating?

    Everytime I lock my iPod it won't unlock.
    The only time it will unlock if I reset it.
    A couple a days it got wet (I waited 5 days) and now it's play music fine but that's the only problem. I already resetted it using iTunes and still it's like that. Is it cuz my iPod got wet??

    Yes it is. How long did you let it dry before you tried to use it?
