Accounting for customer inventory in SAP

Hello Experts
Here is a scenario with which i need some help.
We sell products to various customers. Consider an example product - say ABC. The product ABC is sold to multiple retail customers. To improve our forecasting and planning accuracy we need to keep track of inventory of ABC that is available at our company premises as well as at the customers premises. We also have to distinguish the customers inventory from our inventory . While running MRP inventory at customer premises should also be taken into account .
i have to set up something similar to example below in SAP
product ABC - our locations  ---  total availability  1000 CS
product ABC - customer location - total availability  500 CS (customer would send us inventory data via EDI )
We have to distingusih our inventory from customer inventory (customer inventory will obviously not be available to promise to other customers). While running MRP the total stock available should be 1500 CS .
How can i setup the above scenario ? I went through a lot of documentation and forum posts but did not get a clear understanding . Can you please help .

    Hello,
    Once you made any change of reconciliation account in customer master, you are required to execute F.5D.
    Please read the documentation available on this.
    This will adjust the postings made to old reconciliation account to new reconciliation.

    Hi Randhir,
    Use Tcode FS00 to create a reconciliation account, just as you create a normal GL account.
    Reconciliation account is a balance sheet account.
    Under the Control Data tab Update the field Recon.account for acct type with customers.
    Use this Reconciliation account in Customer master data..

    SPRO-SAP IMG-Financial Accounting-Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable-Business Transactions-Postings with Alternative Reconciliation Account-Define Alternative Reconciliation Accounts
      You can maintain alternative reconciliation account for every reconciliation account. and in FS00 choose option In create/bank/interest Recon.account ready for input. While booking invoice or payments you can manually change the reconciliation account.

    Do you want this to be checked exception? If so extend it from Exception or subclass of it. If it is unchecked exception (not forced by javac to be caught by callers), then extend it from RuntimeException or subclass of it. Exceptions are serializable objects and so have serialVersionID field. Also, to allow for exception chaining, define a constructor that accepts "cause" (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/lang/chained-exceptions.html)

  • Purpose of Reconciliation account for customer

    What is the purpose of Reconciliation account assigned in customer master. Wehn it gets posted and how it is used ? Do all customer share the same Reconciliation account ?

    Reconciliation - as the name suggests is used for Reconciliation of customer balances.At any point of time i can login into T.code FS10n and give the reconciliation account number and check the balances due from customers.
    EX: In your Company code you have 2 customers. All the customer master records are populated with reconciliation account YYYYY in the Company code data.
    When ever the system records a sale transaction, the following FI entry is passed:
    Customer Account Dr
    to Sales A/c Cr
    The accounts updated here are Customer account, sales account as well as the Reconciliation Account.(because we have entered this in master record of the customer,it also gets updated in real time)
    If i have done Rs.1000 with customer X(with recon account YYYYY entered in the master record)Rs.2000 and with customer Z(with recon account YYYYY entered in master record), the total balance of recon account would be Rs.3000.

    Depends on the clients requirement. if he wants separate recon account for a bunch of customers say government agencies, then the Fi consultants can create additional recon account.

    I have to pay custom duty to the government for the imported goods. Do we need to create a vendor master for government in this scenario or if not how can we tackle that it? Do we need to have a separate reconciliation account for this or are we using the same account that we use for trading vendors?

    Hi MK,
    The Vendor account creation for Custom vendor is a normal process, just like you create any other vendor.
    As regards a separate recon account, the normal Vendors show liability for good purchased, whereas this would be liability for taxes and duties..
    You can assign the same recon account, which you assign to all other vendors for Taxes like Service tax, Excise, TDS etc..

  • Filter the results set for custom iviews in SAP MDM

    We have a scenario where based on the user name/user role we want to filter the results retrieved by an search result iview developed for accessing data from SAP MDM Repository.
    E.g.
    We have a lookup table called Plants which contains master data pertaining to  manufacturing plants.
    The portal user P00100xxyy is responsible for maintaining master data for a plant 1101. However, the plant lookup contains data for other plants as well.
    We would like to prevent the user P00100xxyy to see/modify data for other plants in the table.
    We have explored the core MDM functionality of security/constraints. It does not provide row level granularity and we are hoping that the iview approach can help us achieve row level filters.

    The actual problem is that :
    we have approx near about 100 Account Group, so it would become very complex to replicate same condition 100 times
    AND
    these account group may keep on increasing so even maintenance point of view it would be hard to maintain.
    can u tell me some other way to do it, i mean is there any other feature by which we can perform validation in MDM.

  • LDAP  connector for Customer masters With SAP..........

    Hi Experts ,
    Our requirement is we have certain applications which are integrated
    with SAP Portal.
    For these applications Data sources are maintained in two different
    LDAPS.
    One LDAP (enterprise directory) is for USER data and the other LDAP for
    Customer  data(in this senario customer  data is nothing but business
    partner role oragnization).
      MY task is to build an interface for Customer data with LDAP sync.
    So here the question is, Can we use SAP standard LDAP connectors to
    make connectivity to the enterprise directory(LDAP)and push business
    partners data from CRM to the enterprise directory.
    In Standard SAP system which are standard LDAP connectors support
    this functionality?
    Please advice me and also let me know if we have any SAP notes for this
    senario.

    In the wiki you can find
    You can download the CAD-Integration-Software from http://service.sap.com/swdc and then goto
    Installations and Upgrades > Supplementary Components for Cross Industry Solutions > Life-Cycle Data Management > SAP PLM Integrations > select the desired integration
    But that path does not exist in SAP download software page.
    Also, in the availability matrix I can find integration with several systems (catia, solid edge, autocad...) but not unigraphics.
    Could you please provide some more information on the topic?

    The business wants to change the recon account for a customer.
    Can doing so impact the account in any way. I think we should make sure there are no open items on the Customer.
    Is there anything else that needs to be taken care..

    Customer recon accounts are usually called Trade receivables, so search for these and you shall be able to find it.  Could be the 14series or the 4 series.

    Hope all of you are doing fine.
    I need your valuable suggestion/possible workaround for the following requirement.
    u2022 The project requires me to add a custom new field to SAP coding block, which can take negative numeric values.
    u2022 The standard u201Caddition of custom fieldu201D configuration allows me to have the data type of the newly added custom field as either NUMC or CHAR. NUMC data type does not allow negative values. Standard configuration does not allow me to choose other data types (for custom field addition) like QUAN which can allow negative values (by checking the Sign at domain level in data type).
    u2022 Moreover, once I have added the custom field, itu2019s not possible to change the data type of the newly added field (say from NUMC to QUAN).
    I wanted to know if anyone of you have any project experience/knowledge about possible workaround, where we can add a custom field in SAP coding block, which can accept negative numeric values (through standard configuration or otherwise).

    No experience on that, but I strongly advise you to not trying to do something else than what was designed by SAP. So, you can create a character type field, with for example a field exit (though this technology is obsolete, it's very useful in that case) to validate its content (and reformat it if needed).
    Note that from a functional perspective, I think an amount is strange in the coding block, so maybe ask the functional people to know why they need it...

    Now i would like to add 2 more accounts(101, 102) to the same customer a/c assgmt group(DM).
    Is it possible to do this? How?

    Actually we have defined revenue accounts as per region for customers.
    Say 100 for north region, 102 for south...like this.
    My account key, material a/c group, sales org and chart of accounts will be same in this case.
