Accounting of users usage of applications on a database

Hello,
Where in oem grid can I get reports on the 'accounting' of users using particular databases(applications). For example, is there a report that tells you UserABC has been on for 3 hours, using 60 cpu cycle, using so much i/o, querry such and such tables, etc. Or do I need to turn on auditing to see these reports? Thank you.

Yes
You need auditing in the database target for display these reports in your GC

  • Error creating a new user profile service application: The specified database is not a valid synchronization database

When trying to create a new user profile service application on a new SharePoint install I get the following error:
"The specified database is not a valid synchronization database"
The installation then fails and does not create the third database.
I found some threads with similar problems but it involved upgrading an existing db.  In this case we want to create a new one.  Here is the relevant ULS log info:

I Tried to create another one under a different name (databases also) and I get the same error.
The SharePoint instance has the march mandatory update installed.  The sql instance we are using is an existing SQL cluster for other SharePoint poc's.
Has anybody seen this issue before?

I had the same problem and could not figure out what was wrong for the longest time.  I then had the idea to check in the model system database to see if there were any extra custom tables in that database.  Any tables that are in the model database
are put into any new database when it is created.  I had some custom tables in the model database so I deleted the custom tables in the model database and deleted the failed user profile service application and its databases and then tried to recreate
the user profile service application again and it worked with no errors

  • Initiall SharePoint Server 2013 setup -- unable to manage new User Profile Service Application

During initial farm setup, creating an initial User Profile Service Application works fine.  However, once it's created, I cannot 'manage' it through the Manage Service Applications page in central
    admin.
I get a generic error (Sorry, something went wrong / unexpected error) with a correlation ID that doesn't seem to match any ULS log entries. (Yes, I merged logs from all machines in the farm.)
A Windows event log entry says:
A failure was reported when trying to invoke a service application: Endpoint Failure
Also frequent errors in ULS logs:  (see below)
    UserProfileApplicationNotAvailableException
User Profile Application      Proxy failed to retrieve partitions from User Profile Application: Micro…
    SPDistributedCache DataCacheException
I did notice that the file 'ProfileService.svc does not exist in SharePoint's web services app at the URL you see in the error. (below)
I also found it interesting that the event log error shows 1 active endpoint and 3 failed endpoints.  I have 2 WFEs and 2 app servers.  But I'm only trying to get the user profile service app running on the application
servers.  I have deleted and recreated this service app several times under various names (deleted/recreated its app pool as well) and wonder if these other failed endpoints could be orphans from previous instances...
Any thoughts on how I might successfully create this service application?  I've already been Binging my head against a wall long enough that I would have been better off reinstalling the entire farm...  I may still
    do that.
FYI, my farm came from a slipstreamed SP1 install package, and received the July CU after several other things were already configured, including the already-failed UP service application.

  • # of Concurrent Users in an Application

Is there a way to determine the # of Concurrent Users in an application at specific points in time?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,
    >> I was still left wondering about concurrent user usage of the application
Concurrent users in a Web environment/application is a bit tricky. One moment you are there, and in the other you closed your browser, and the application can’t really know that. So first you need to define what you consider to be an active user, and from that to compute concurrent users.
@Roel – I’ve just noticed your new title as Oracle ACE. Congratulations.

    Abhishek Madan

    Hi Abhishek,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg750257(v=office.14).aspx
Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:

  • How do I restrict users from installing applications?

Or more specifically, yahoo messenger. I can't seem to figure this one out. Two user settings on our machines (public and admin), public does not have admin priveleges, so cannot make modifications like installing applications, but someone seems to keep installing messenger all the same. I investigated and figured out that it seems like when logged onto the public account, one can still install applications in their user/applications folder without needing to authenticate. or maybe Yahoo Messenger doesn't read as an application, so it doesn't need authetication? I am trying to make it so no one can install any application without admin priveleges.

"Parental Controls" works on a "white list" principle, so if an app isn't available in the "Accounts" pref pane, it shouldn't be accessible for the "managed" user because the default is to deny everything not on the list.
But also be aware that the type of "Parental Controls" you have selected may affect the user's ability to use a given programme. For example, if the "Allow supporting programmes" checkbox is selected, it may be possible to launch indirectly a programme that hasn't been approved explicitly.
Also, note that a "Simple Finder" account doesn't (and isn't intended to) restrict application access at all, whereas a "Some Limits" account does.
And as "Keith Gaboury1" points out, if a given service allows access through a web interface, restriction of a programme on the local computer won't have any effect.
"Parental Controls" are somewhat effective in preventing users from using unauthorized programmes, but as far as preventing the installation of apps, that is something that would be fairly difficult to do if the user is to have a functional account. If a user can save files to a directory (such as their home folder or "/Users/Shared" or the "admin" user's "Drop Box"), it would be possible for them to install an application there. There are ways of preventing executables in the user's own "home" from functioning, but then they could always run an app from a CD or a flash drive or a disk image instead (I'm not sure how to block those). So the "white list" approach of controlling application use (as opposed to installation) is probably the best compromise.

  • Do we have to put all account in user.txt on AS/400 initial reconciliation?

    Dear OIM expert,
We have configured IBM OS/400 Advanced 9.0.4.5 with OIM 9.1.0.
We are able to provision an account to AS/400 system.
But when we try to do initial reconciliation, we found that we have to put all existing accounts in AS/400 into the user.txt file.
Otherwise, OIM won't be able to detect all accounts.
Could anyone confirm this behavior or give any suggestion on this issue?
Do we have to put all account in user.txt on AS/400 initial reconciliation?
Which methodology that your site use?
    Thank you

Did your Mac come with MacOS X 10.7 and the iLife apps preinstalled? Or with MacOS X 10.6.8 and installer disks?
If you have installer disk, reinstall the bundled iLife apps from these disks (the second one with bundled apps) and then use software update.
If the mac came with Lion and without installer disks, either restore the iLife apps from the backup you made before you wiped the drive or look at the AppStore on the Purchases tab with your purchases. The bundled applications should be listed there, perhaps with an "Accept" button. Accept them to your AppleID and install them from the Purchases tab.

  • User Level Vs. Application Level Authorization and Authentication for Container Managed Datasources (Oracle Connection Pools)

Oracle Database Server 9i supports the usage of LABELS to enforce highly granular
resource access restrictions at the database level independent of the application
that is accessing it. In order to use this however, the particular user, and
not just the application, accessing the database must be known. Oracle Application
Server (Oracle's J2EE product line) solves this by providing the ability to PROXY
the identity of the application user and creditials (SSL Certs for instance) down
    to the database server.
I haven't seen a similar ability for BEA Weblogic Server 8.1 which allow the user
identity and credientials to be PROXIED to the database server. Is this possible?
Have I missed an important document?
    Thanks for any input,
    Raymond Tiong

Server (Oracle's J2EE product line) solves this by providing the ability
    to PROXY
the identity of the application user and creditials (SSL Certs for
    instance) down
    to the database server.
I haven't seen a similar ability for BEA Weblogic Server 8.1 which allow
    the user
identity and credientials to be PROXIED to the database server. Is this
    possible?
Have I missed an important document?
    Thanks for any input,
    Raymond Tiong
I think there is a section in the JDBC documentation for 8.1 which
describes what it takes to utilize Oracle 9i extension called "Virtual
Private Database". With this extension, one might be able to proxy the
    callers
    identity to the DB.

  • How to create a reference user for B2C application?

    Hello,
Can somebody please tell me how to create a reference user for B2C application?
I am trying to create a new account on the B2C site. It is giving me a null pointer exception. I have not created a reference user for B2C application.
Is there any documentation available to explain the steps required for this?
    Thanks,

  • All Domain User update specific application

Server OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
    PC: Windows 7 SP1 Professional /joined domain
We looking for any hint can allow domain user account upgrade specific appliation, we test servral method but all not work
    1. This is IM QQ appliction and no MSI , version change quickly, can not use GPO deploy also the patch is not download. Force update by online.
    2. We can not grant local admin right to users beacuse need to stop anyone install application without approval
    3. Can not use Windows Application Control, because that feature need Windows 7 Enterprise.
    4. Consider use local security policy, application control or software restrict but difficult for mangement over 100 PCs
    5. Try to grant everyone under program files / (x 86) folder but patch update seem involve registry and other system permission.
    6. Market has third party application control but those application can not block the application which not on their list, means we if we grant local admin right to users, they can freely install anything
seem any other information can help this case. thanks
    supporthk

    How about:
Group policy to add a local admin user account for a day or two, or a week
Group policy to apply a logon script to run a batch file - batch file to copy file(s) to local computer, "run as" the install file as new local admin account, then clean up temp & install files
Then edit the 1st GPO to remove that local admin account
Could be a way, but that force the admin to pre-package all software update and it allow a hole for the user to install anything while it's PC isnt rebooted.
Maybe in App-V it could be do-able. In XenApp you can stream to the computer the application, and you can allow the user to update. The registry hive is isolated and file are deployed when the user click the application. Never tried it with App-V, but I
heard you can isolate the application too. In both product you pre-install in a virtual's way, and that make like a .msi, that the user get to the workstation when they want to use the application in big, and the modified file are stored in the user profile
(for xenapp, surelly the same for app-v)

  • Query to find out the time used by an user for an application

    Hello All,
I want to know the query to find out the whole time used by the user for an application. Please view the below data
    Employee:
    SNO EMP_ID EMP_NAME EMP_DATE LOGIN_TIME LOGOUT_TIME
    1 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:30:00 07:30:00
    2 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:40:00 07:20:00
    3 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:50:00 07:50:00
    4 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 07:30:00 08:30:00
    5 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 09:30:00 10:30:00
By checking the above data we can say that the total time Visu used the application is
    8.30 - 6.30 (From 1,2,3,4 records) = 2hrs
    10.30 - 9.30 (Based on 5th rec) = 1hr
So the total time Visu used the application would be 3 hrs = 180 mins.
Could you please help me in getting the result from that data using a query?
