Accounts disappeared

Hi,
I've got a problem since I've installed Snow Leopard.
In Mail.app, my accounts sometimes disappear.. It happened already 2 times. Fortunately, I've also got a MacBook Pro, and I just had to copy Mail preferences to get my accounts back on my iMac. But it also happened on my MBP, and had to copy preferences from my iMac to my MBP.
It's a really strange bug because it happens, for example, when I read a mail. All accounts suddenly disappear, and Mail.app looks like it never been used before.
Moreover, and "strangeover", my accounts are still displayed in Mail.app preferences, in "Accounts" panel. But there's no more mailboxes..
I've noticed that when it happens, there's a "INBOX" folder created in root path, next to "System", "Library", etc.. folders.
(Please notice that I've done a clean install of Snow Leopard, but I had to copy Mail.app preferences and "Mail" folder located in ~/Library/Mail/)

This is happening to me too. Do you use MobileMe? Is it a .mac/.me email? I found that sometimes if my MobileMe syncs with the cloud my mail will suddenly disappear. It was happening both on my Macbook Pro and my MacPro. I unregistered them both and deleted all the info on the "cloud". I re-registered both computers and updated the "cloud' and thing so far are better. It hasn't happened in hours. I'll keep u posted if this solved my issue. Good luck with yours!

  • ITunes Account Disappeared Within Last Several Hours

Itunes account with AOL handle & AOL password configuration... worked fine for years until attempted to access the iTunes store this evening from home Mac. (Have another authorized machine at work) ID not recognized. Account 'disappeared' from iTunes interface on home Mac. AOL account still working
System problems at iTunes? Was I hacked? If someone somehow got my password, could they 'eliminate'/rename account with $ still in it?

You can only use the code once to download it into iTunes.  After the first time, you will no longer need the code to watch the movies.  Just go to iTunes.
If you were never able to use the code.  Then either the code is defective or someone else used the code before you.

  • My mail account disappeared!

my Mail Account disappeared and I had to add the account again. When I did this there was no Junk Box or a Trash box showing in the list of Mailboxes. His do I get these back/to show again?

The Mail app is still there. One of my accounts simply doesn't work. The same account works fine on my desktop computer (the one IPhone is synced with) but it won't download mail on my IPhone. When I try to send a test message from IPhone to that account I get an error message and it won't receive test message sent from my desktop. The tests from my desktop come in fine to the desktop but not the IPhone.
I have reset the IPhone and tried re-configuring the Mail account. No luck.

  • User accounts disappearing

We have laptops running 10.4 that have a issues with accounts disappearing.
We have the users login via AD plugin. When the user goes to System Preferences and clicks accounts it loads a blank screen. We have tried unbinding them from the AD and logging in with local admin and it still will not show up. We have to do a reinstall. This doesn't happen to all the laptops and it doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't seem to be user specific. Any suggestions.

Which version of Server are you running?
For example, About the Mac OS X Server 10.4.2 Update mentions some related issues:
    • Addresses an issue in which Active Directory users who are set as computer administrators may not get admin access to a computer.
    • Addresses an issue in which newly-created accounts may not be able to authenticate or appear in user lists.
There are lots of articles dealing with Active Directory and 10.4. If you use the "Advanced Search" above you can narrow things down.

  • All email accounts disappeared

I have a bunch of email accounts on my Mac Mail. I had just sent off one, looked away, and all of a sudden all of my accounts disappeared! I kept looking for a way to open them - but nothing. And then I tried to reboot. As I was closing it down I got a "Panic Report" (see below) - and I TRULY was panicking! There's a lot more- but can anyone figure out what this is about? Did I get a virus?
I did disk utility opening from the disk, and it found no problems. It took me an hour to figure out how to get a genius appointment. (Only can be scheduled from the Apple Store App on my phone- whew!)
But I would love it if some Genius here can tell me what has happened?!!
I am so tired of being a Beta-tester for Mac's new updates. I SWEAR I will never update again until a YEAR has passed and all the problems have been worked out!
    Thank you for any suggestions!

Copy and paste the panic report into a reply. The screen shot doesn't have enough information in it.

  • HT2736 i had i tunescard of $25 but i never use it all because my account disappear but i still had money left.  the code xxsekt32wgc6dwfh this was last sat.

i had itunes card of$25 but my account disappear but i still had money left.

If you've already redeemed the card onto your account then its amount should be on your account - a card can only be redeemed once.
To rent a film, find the film in the store and (if the film studio has made it available as a rental in your country) click on its Rent button. If you are beig prompted to review your account and enter credit card details then see if this post from mountaingoatgirl lets you do so without entering card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054 . If that doesn't work then you should be able to remove your card's details after entering them.
As long as you account's balance covers the rental cost then only that should be charged. How purchases are billed : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582
When making purchases, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits; your credit card or PayPal account is then charged for any remaining balance.

  • 10.6.5 Mail - Crazy Account Disappearing Problems on 2 machines!

My mail on my MacPro started crashing yesterday. Mail accounts (POP and Apple) disappeared. I replaced the mail.plist file and all's well, for like 5 minutes. Then one account or two would disappear, or maybe all. Then I noticed the same thing was happening on my MacBookPro, delayed, mirroring what was happening on the tower. So, some research suggested also replacing the address.plists along with the mail.plist. Which I've done now multiple times on both machines with older time machine versions from like 10 days ago. Each time all appears well, accounts show up, mail comes in, then either crashes, or one or more accounts disappear from the left menu.
HELP! Is it a virus? A Bug in recent Mac software auto upgrades?
I have to say, because its happening on two separate machines simultaneously, this is the weirdest system problem I've had in 25 years of Mac use.

Sounds like something is interrupting the housekeeping tasks in Mail, and resulting in the loss, corruption, or other of the plist.
This can happen with a sudden loss of power, or running out of space on the boot volume, even if only temporary because some other app is using the disk space.
Start on the Mac Pro, and run Verify Disk to look for possible reasons for the crash you reported. The crash of Mail could result in the loss of the plist info.
Have you any Mail plugin or enhancement app for Mail on these Macs?

  • Old accounts disappeared after adding google account

I have similar problem, after adding new Google account on BB, old account disappeared and all infos are taken from Google and not anymore from Outlook. Then re-created previous account and deleted Google one: no solution, re-installed BB-DTop Mng: managed to retrieve mail, notes, etc. from Outlook but the address book remains only Google one!
How to ERASE Google presence totally?

Also you can connect to desktop manager and change default address book.

  • Administrator account disappeared

    Hi,
some weeks ago, my administrator account disappeared. I think this happens after I used Onyx. I have an administrator account and a standard account on my Macbook. Typically, I am using the standard account. One day, however, when I wanted to install an update, I was surprised by finding that my administrator account was gone. I can not log into it. My macbook simply don't recognize that there is another account.
In the user menu, I can see my old admin account below Groups?!? I tried several things, however, I was not able to log into my admin account.
Anyone seen something similar? I guess that I probably have to reinstall Mac OS X, but I would like to avoid this option.
    Best, Crobus

the directory services record of that account got corrupted and needs to be recreated. since you don't have an admin account any more you need to enable the root account first. use this link
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1278
to log in as root. once you are logged in as root run the following terminal command
    rm /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/short-user-name.plist
Instead of short-user-name put in the above the short name of the problem admin user. It's the same as the name of that user's home directory in /Users folder. Please make sure you copy the command EXACTLY as given. it's very important. we don't want to delete the wrong thing here.
    Press enter in terminal.
Restart, log in as root again and try creating the account with that shortname (and make it admin). it will say that a home directory by that name already exists and ask if you want to use it. say "yes".

  • Main admin + all other accounts disappeared!

    Hi,
I have been trying all afternoon to get my stepdad's computer to start. He tried to change his account password the other day but did not write it down and it's been impossible to start it ever since... (I know, its normal...)
Anyway so I got an Apple tech support on the phone earlier, who basically gave me the same directives I got from the site but I couldnt even get there (using the install disc to reset the admin password) since there was absolutely no account to be found when I clicked on the hard drive (not even "root")... so then the guy advised me to just reinstall the whole system (using the "archive" option though).. so I did and the only thing that changed was that the "root" user reappeared, but still no other account.....
How the **** can simply change a password result in all the accounts disappearing? Is there ANY way I can get the account back?? Or is my only option to reinstall the system entirely and lose the whole data in the process?
Thanks a lot for your help!
(Oh by the way, when I did reinstall using the archive option the Apple guy said I should get some kind of page before I got to the login window, where I could somehow create a brand new user, but I never got that page either)
Also, the computer is a 2006 15" MacBook Pro running 10.4.9
    PB G4, 15, 1,67GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Perform the instructions in sections 1 and 2 of this article; if you don't have a good backup or the issue persists, perform the instructions in sections 1 and 3, and then recreate your accounts in the order they were initially created. Neither set of instructions will delete your data. This issue is caused by a corrupt NetInfo database; in some cases, using the Reset Password function from the Mac OS X installation disks will corrupt that database for some reason. If you choose to preserve user and network data during the Archive & Install, the corrupted database will remain where it is.

  • .mac account disappeared from my iPhone

Two odd things happened this past week - maybe at the same time, although I can't be sure.
    1) My .mac account disappeared from my iPhone. My POP3 account remains.
    2) On my laptop, in Apple Mail, three new mailboxes for the .mac account suddenly appeared under "On My Mac": Deleted, Junk and Sent. They never used to be under "On My Mac", so I'm wondering if this is somehow related to the .mac account disappearing from my iPhone.
I still get mail to the .mac account on my laptop, and it still shows up online when I go to the .mac website.
Should I just go ahead and try to add the .mac account back onto my iPhone or is this likely something more complicated?

Hello, did you resolve this? It's happening to my .Mac/ iPhone now. I've only recently set up my .mac account, and it's now disappeared off the iPhone twice in the 2 days I've had the email account.
any help would be much apperciated,
    Regards

  • Yahoo account disappeared today

I had two yahoo email accounts disappear from my phone today.  I know I looked at email earlier, but went to check it just now and both email accounts were gone.  Went to manage accounts and both were gone.  attempted to add account, both were available to restore, and when i chose to restore, it prompted me to select my exchange account is listed 6 times as EAS account?   What should I do, anyone else see this today?

Adding the account back worked, but it was unexpected that the accounts were removed.  Anyone else have this or find a cause?  Also battery life has been terrible since VRHLE update. :(

  • Calendars and accounts disappeared from ical

All of my calendars and accounts disappeared from the calendar app on my macbook pro. They still exist because I can see them on my phone (icloud calendar) but not on my macbook pro. The app wont even let me add back in my icloud account. Any ideas?

  • ICloud account disappears from Mail preferences

In Mail preferences my iCloud account didn't seem to be working so I deleted it, logged into iCloud, selected 'Mail and Notes' and the Mail account was recreated.  After signing out of iCloud the account disappeared from Mail preferences.  Why?

So, then, do you recommend that I remain "signed in" to iCloud all the time on both my desktop and my laptop so that the iCloud account always appears in the Mail application?  Or should I "sign in" to iCloud periodically to see if I have mail in my iCloud account or, alternatively, access mail in the iCloud account through iCloud.com?
The old MobileMe mail account was always present in the Mail application unlike the iCloud mail account.

  • Computer account disappears after losing trust

    Hello,
We are having quite a strange issue.
We have about 2000 PCs on our network running a range of different OS versions. Some PCs in randomly lose their trust with the domain.
The strange thing is, after losing the secure connectivity with the domain. The computer accounts just disappear from AD.
Is this the normal case when losing secure connectivity with the domain?
We also searched for the deleted computer account in recycle bin, But the entry is not there. Our domain and forest functional level is 2008r2 and we are running 2008 r2 standard domain controllers.
Please help me on the point "computer accounts disappearing from AD after losing trust relationship without present in deleted containers"

    Hi Venkat,
Thanks for your information. We would check with the NIC drivers. But please help us to understand on the point "computer
accounts disappearing from AD after losing trust relationship without present in deleted containers" Is this a normal issue when trust relation breaks?
The disappeared objects don't even exists in active directory recycle bin after removed. This is what we see as strange.
    Please help us.
