Accounts Preference is missing
Just this morning I noticed that on my Powerbook G4 (running 10.4.11) the Accounts preference is missing from the System Preferences window. I'm not sure what would cause for this to happen. I have shutdown/restarted several times to see if there was a glitch, but it's still missing. I've never had this happen before. I downloaded and am using Onyx to run a clean every now and then, but I don't think this would have affected anything. I remember setting up a new admin user about 7 months ago, so I know at one time it was there. The laptop only has an admin user. I never added guests. When I start up, it always goes to the login screen where I have to enter my password to access the machine, so I know that my account info must be somewhere. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Any suggestions?

Account preference pane missing
Running an iMac G5, OSX 10.4.6, 1GB RAM
I recently purchased a refurbished iMac. During setup I choose the move files from another computer (iBook G3 running OSX 10.4.6). This worked fine, moving my applications, documents and user information. I ran updates to bring the sytem to what was on the iBook. This was two days ago.
Now my Account preference pane is missing when you select System Preferences. I have no trouble logging in (was set on auto login), but I can't see the Account pane in System Preferences now to add another account.
Is there a way to bring back the Account Prefernce Pane selection to the System Preferneces screen?Hi Doris, try this:
Navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache and delete that file.
Then navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist and delete that file.
Now relaunch system preferences. Let us know.

I've searched around on the forums but haven't found anything that matches what I'm experiencing.
When I go to System Prefs, my Accounts icon is gone completely. It's simply not there. When I click on my user name in the upper right of the desktop, I have the ability to select "Account Preferences" but in doing so nothing happens.
I've done simple steps already such as verify and repair permissions; I've run Cocktail and MacJanitor. No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.596/3042

Now try the next software troubleshooting steps:
- check for corrupted preferences with Preferential Treatment
(just to make sure)
- "Repair Disk" with Disk Utility, booted from the OS X install DVD
(looking for a Directory problem...)
- DiskWarrior would be even better than Disk Utility...

Missing accounts preference pane
I recently transferred data to a new hard drive using the migration assistant.
Now the Accounts Preference Pane shows only a blank page. All else seems to work.
G4 Quicksilver with 10.4.8. I have repaired permissions and done a check on hard drive.Navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Delete these 2 files and relaunch System Preferences. You may have to reset a few of your System Preferences.

"Accounts" preference pane icon gone after 10.5.2 update
This weekend I realized that the Accounts preference pane icon is now missing from my system preferences. I checked my system/library/preferencepanes folder and the accounts.prefpane file is indeed not there. My login information is working fine; I just have no way to change any user information now. I have a feeling the 10.5.2 update has something to do with this.
Has anyone else noticed missing preference pane icons in their system preferences lately? Anyone know how to get the Accounts.prefPane back? Any help would be much appreciated.Welcome to Apple Discussions.
That's odd. You may be able to repair this with the 10.5.2 Combo Update.
This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It has worked well for many.
Run Verify Disk in Disk Utility before update and Repair Permissions after.

Internet accounts preference pain won't load
I have an issue where my Internet Accounts preferences pane won't load and when I try to sign-out of my iCloud account, it tells me that Parental Controls are turned on (which they aren't). You will see a bunch of Calendar errors because I was following the advise of another thread and cleared out the contents of the Mail and Calendar folders in ~\Library but this didn't help. I have exhausted all of the threads that I can find. When I create a new profile on my mac, it can connect just fine.
When I try to open the Internet Accounts pane in Preferences I get the following logs:

<Email Edited by Host>So, we are getting closer. I ran the find command and when it didn't fix the issue, I ran the Reset ACLs. Now, I can log into my iCloud pane and it shows all of the iCloud services. I can't enable mail or calendar. It locks up when I try. Also, the Internet Accounts pane still won't open.
I ran the first find command you gave me and it resulted in 24. Any other thoughts?

I discovered today that one of my accounts preferences are gone. None of the files were gone, but when opening applications, especially address book and mail, all of the preferences and all of my contacts were missing.
The only thing that could have changed anything would be that I ended up removing the password from my account. The account that was affected was a different account though. That account was open. Two other accounts on the computer were not affected and were not logged in.
I have searched through the forums and they have not helped me. I have not changed the name of my home account nor do I have FileVault on.
Help is much appreciated.Open the Users folder on your hard disk and look at the folders inside for the one which contains your account's files. Once you've found it, open it and create another Finder window. Click on the Applications item in the sidebar and then open the NetInfo Manager application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder. Under the list of properties for your user account, find the home entry.
Once you've done this, you have two options:
1. Go back into the Finder and select the folder you found. Choose Get Info from the File menu and note down what is listed in the Where line under General. Type this into the home property for your account followed by a / and then the name of the folder.
2. Note down the home property, and then choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Enter this path in, remove anything after the last /, and go to that folder. Drag the folder you found into this location, and then rename it so that it has the same name as the last part of the property.
In either case, you will now need to log out and back in. Don't alter or delete any other accounts, properties, or groups in the NetInfo Manager.

Given that you are logged in as that user, and most likely the admin user of the Mac, then it makes sense that you can change your own settings. If you were logged in as a different user, then you would not have access to change the settings for this admin account.

Since I (reluctantly) abandoned MobileMe and switched to iCloud, when I use Mail Connection Doctor because a problem is indicated with one or more of my email acocunts, it shows both iCloud IMAP and Me.com SMTP accounts. The iCloud account is fine but the SMTP acount has a red button against it.
So Connection Doctor shows the old SMTP account always failing to connect (of course - as it's been abandoned). However, this account does not show up in the Accounts Preferences pane so I am not able to delete it. This also happens with another account which I deleted in the Preferences pane some time ago.
How can I stop these phantom accounts appearing in Connection Doctor? It's very irritating to constantly have faults indicated which apply to abandoned accounts.
Thanks people!Go to your iCloud account in Preferences>Accounts. Set the 'Outgoing mail server (SMTP)' drop-down menu to 'Edit SMTP server list'. Then:
Set the server name as shown here. Then click the Advanced tab and check the settings.
If you are still having problems, you could start the setup again from scratch. Assuming that your signature is correct and you are running Leopard, delete any iCloud or MobileMe accounts in the list and then follow the instructions here:

Mobile Account Preferences visible on Menubar for Network Accounts
On Mobile Accounts (setup with Profile Manager), acting as network account (home folder in server), the mobile account preferences are shown on the menubar. In addion, it says "last home sync" incomplete. Both are wrong according to my understanding.
However it makes sense - and it if the case - if the account is really working as mobile account with local home folder on a e.g. macbook.
Does anyone has the same issue?I have the same issue. No fix yet.
One of my machines has joined the network and seems to be ok in almost every way...clearly with the exception of this way.
I will post if / when I find a solution.

We need some information, starting with the email provider (eg. Google, Yahoo, Bellsouth, etc)

how do I save changes in mail accounts preferences? I add and delete mail accounts but when I close and then reopen mail, my changes are not saved, despite messages within the mail window saying that my changes are saved.

Can't reset SMTP settings on account preferences - inactive/gray

It looks like Mail was updated (great in theory, bad in practice), and now I can't send from Mail. I get the error message : "SMTP settings are not sete, please use Accounts Preferences panle to set SMTP options.
So, I dig out my incoming server, pop.mail.yahoo.com and my ourtiong mail SMTP server info: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
But when I go to Preferences/Accounts, it won't let me make any changes. All the fields are gray and inactive, except for "E-mail aliases" which I tried and nothing happened.
Help! All advice is greatly appreciated!

First of all, I don't know what you mean by "Mail has updated"-- please explain? if you mean Mail has suddenly opened as though new, then you may have an issue with available free space on your hard drive, or if partitioned, on the boot partition. Check free space if this is what happened.
As for the grayed out entry info, it appears you proceeded into setting up the account in the Preferences with the Account Type set to .mac, which of course, is not what you would use for a Yahoo account.

kindly elaborate on your error,
check in condtions tab of the sales order by going to the analysis tab,
the g/l assignment is made in pricing procedure for the condtion type ,
if you have copied the pricing proc also and changed the condition type then this hould not arise and if you have created a new pric proc kindly check, is there any account key(second last column) mentioned inthe relevant pric proc in which that condition type is inserted.
if yes then seein vkoa what g/l account in maintained in front of that account key

Adding ChecksForPayment gets -5002 ("Account number is missing")
When trying to add a ChecksForPayment object, I am getting a -5002 error with the description "Account number is missing [OCHO.BankNum]". I am setting the cfp.BankCode to the value of the OHEM.bankCode field. Is there something else I am missing?

Dont type the cfp.BankCode value, let it empty, only use the Bank Account Code in the column: CustomerAccountCode ; with that works fine.
