Accurate recognition of external directory move

System: MacPro, 2x2.8 quad, 4G
OS: OSX 10.5.2
S/W: Lightroom 1.4.1
Camera: Canon XTi
Format: RAW (CR2)
When a directory containing photos is moved to a subdirectory in OSX Finder, Lightroom moves it to the top of my directory hierarchy in grid view and will not allow me to correct the directory as a subdirectory.
f.e.
Initial file structure:
Pictures>20070504
Moved in in Finder to:
Pictures>2007>20070504
Lightroom almost instantly recognizes the move but instead of making 20070504 a subdirectory of 2007, it puts it at the top of the grid view hierarcy. Trying to move 20070504 in grid view to be a child of 2007, LR thinks I am trying to move the directory and tells me one by that name already exists.
If I do all of my moves in LR it works ok, BUT I have to move them one at a time!!!
Would be nice if LR allowed multiple directores to be moved at once or properly recognized the external move change in hierarcy.
Thanks,
Frank Cano

Hi John,
Karen's replicator moves the entire structure (actually a very useful
program), but I think that I changed the name of the receiving directory
slightly.  That may be what caused the problem for LR.  As a database, I
find it very finicky!  Next time I will duplicate it exactly and
hopefully have better results.  After moving each of the folders,
everything looks ok.  My work flow will import to the C drive photos
directly from the CF card,
Why the C: drive? In my experience, it's never a good idea to have a
data folder (in this case, the images) on the same drive as the OS. If
that drive fills up, you've got aggravations even starting your
system. If a HD dedicated to only data fills up, it gives you
aggravation running the application you want ... but not just starting
the OS, so your computer can always be accessed. Even replacing that
booting drive becomes easier that way, since the boot drive is then
relatively small, having only the OS and program files on it. It's the
data files that take up all the space.
I import all photos to a different internal drive than my boot drive
(in my case, a RAID-1 or mirrored drive), which I then also back up to
2 different external HDs, one on that machine, and one on another
machine. The backup happens as a scheduled task, while I am at work,
so it doesn't interfere with my use of that machine. Overnight is also
a good choice for that kind of backup.
If you don't have room for a dedicated internal drive, you could use a
dedicated external drive. And then back that up to a 2nd external HD.
Just a suggestion.

  • Internal vs. external directory services best practices

    Hello everyone,
    We have two distinct directory services here where I work, one that supports 'internal' needs, and one that is used for external clients, the people who use our web-facing applications. We are limited by the separation of the directory services. E.g., our internal users cannot use the external directory service to look up email addresses.
    I have been asked to look into design options and best practises. Is it common to have distinct services like this? Or are those external users usually part of the same service as the internal users? Is my online banking account information in the same directory service (assuming it is in a directory service at all) as the employees at my bank? Does it make sense to run separate services like this? What are some alternatives?
    Part of the integration problem is AD vs. Sun Directory Server. The external service is in Sun Directory Server and predates AD. The AD service is obviously here for the Windows environment. Some organizations I have worked with in the past used Sun LDAP as the authoritative source of data, and synced in one way or another into AD.
    Any feedback is appreciated,
    Mark

    No, what I am looking for is architectural input regarding the use of AD and a separate LDAP server. In my case I am talking about AD and the SJS Directory Server, but this would apply to any environment that has AD plus some other LDAP server.
    I need to be able to reasonably answer the general question: Why should we keep the SJS Directory Server, when we could just put all our LDAP data into AD?
    I also need to answer the more specific question: Given our LDAP data is external users only (customer, partners), does it make sense to keep them there? Again, why not just put these "external" entities into AD?
    I'm not trying to figure out how to get AD and LDAP to work together. I'm trying to figure out why I have two directories, and why I should or should not keep two directories. I've found nothing online dealing with what should be a very common scenario.

  • How to extract external directory users from a shared services group from shared services RDBMS repository

    Hi,
    I have a security group in shared services, which has external directory users. I want to extract the list of users from shared services RDBMS repository using a SQL query. Please let me know if this is possible and from which table(s) I can query such list.
    Thanks...

    You need to use CSS_Groups, CSS_GROUP_MEMBERS and CSS_USERS tables in your Foundation DB. Something like below will give you these details:
    select b.Name  ,a.Name  from HYPFOUND.CSS_GROUPS b ,
    HYPFOUND.CSS_USERS a ,
    HYPFOUND.CSS_GROUP_MEMBERS c
    WHERE c.MEMBER_IDENTITY = a.IDENTITY_ID and
    c.GROUP_IDENTITY = b.IDENTITY_ID
    GROUP BY (b.Name,a.name)

  • Cisco IP phone problem with external directory http error

    Hi,
    I have a problem when I try to open the directory on different model Cisco IP Phone for new deployment.
    In CUCM (version 8.5) we have configured internal and external directory and on each device set the "service provisioning" to "both". For all the sites configured in CUCM this feature is working properly, but not in the new deployed site. I´ve already verified the url is written properly.
    I get the following error messages for these different models:
    - Cisco IP phone 8945: "HTTP connection failed"
    - Cisco IP Comm: "HTTP error [500] "
    Thank you for your help,
    Regards,
    David Lozano

    Hi David,
    What firmware are you using? Do you have 8945s on the other sites? I found a bug, but I'm not sure it applies to your description:
    CSCty58000 Bug Details
    8945 freezes when directories is pressed
    Symptom:
    8945 freezes when directories button is pressed.
    Conditions:
    This issue happens when the phone load is 9.2.3 and the directories URL doesn't contain port number.
    Workaround:
    Please use http://X.X.X.X:8080/ccmip/xmldirectory.jsp for the directories
    URL instead of http://X.X.X.X/ccmip/xmldirectory.jsp
    You can try upgrading to firmware 9.3(1)

  • Schedule Batch in Workspace - How to set up External Directory?

    Hello,
    I am using Hyperion Workspace 11.1.1.3 and trying to schedule a batch job. I am stuck in the create new Scheduled Batch wizard. I want to export the report in the .pdf format to an external directory. But currently I don't have external directories set up (the drop down box is empty).
    Can someone please tell me where and how I could set up external directories? I looked in Shared Services but couldn't find where I could set this up.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You!

    I use the local off method but there is another way.
    Go to Settings/MIDI and use the  "Instrument Without MIDI Thru Function" selector to pick the device and channel your hardware keyboard is transmitting on.
    Settings are on a Per Song basis, they're not global like Preferences are.

  • Positioning External Load movies

    Hi,
    I have made a flash player that loads in two external flash movies this is all now workign fine with a little extra help, however the problem i have now is that when the movies load in they both show in different places, for example the external movie called new_products loads perfectly in places, for example one of the movies loads into place where i want it to but the second loads in to position starting at the top left.
    When i add x, y for the loader it affects them both, but they still originate from differnt start positions.
    The loader code is below:
    var fl_Loader:Loader = new Loader();
    addChild(fl_Loader);
    fl_Loader.x=10; // use your X position here
    fl_Loader.y=10; // use your Y position here
    new_products.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToLoadUnloadSWF);
    special_offers.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToLoadUnloadSWF);
    function fl_ClickToLoadUnloadSWF(event:MouseEvent):void
        var url:String = event.currentTarget.name+".swf";
        fl_Loader.load(new URLRequest(url));
    And the link to see the flash is here:  http://www.pestcontrolonline.com/main_flash/main_flash.html
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated

    the following:
    fl_Loader.x=10; // use your X position here
    fl_Loader.y=10; // use your Y position here
    assigns your loader to 10,10.
    if you want it elsewhere, use numbers different from 10 and 10.

  • How i configure external directory and email

    hi every one
    i have just installed and login to oracle beekeeper successfully. now i want to intergate the external directory to my active directory so that all users in it will be mapped in oracle beehive secondly i can use them for email purpose.
    i am really new to oracle beehive , i have read the administration manuals. but still confusing how to start , the parameters in external directory creation for active directory cannot understandable for me, what does authectic attributes means.
    kindly guide me in this regard and secondly if any image base document avaible so that i configure it through that.
    regards
    Oraclebeehive new user

    Hello,
    The primary Authentication Attribute, is just the LDAP attribute you will use to be able to log on Beehive
    That can be an UID, the email address, the cn or with AD the sAMAccount
    eg: uid: 123455667
    mail: [email protected]
    cn: firstname.lastname
    these attributes and their associated values are on AD and must be available for ALL employees as well as UNIQUE.
    Often the email address, the UID or the sAMAccount have unique value.
    Hope that help
    However, You may want to take some days of expertise to help you on this setting. That will simplify and speed up your learning curve and Beehive implementation.

    Fred

  • FR: - Export to External Directory

    In the old version you could set multiple directories in the fr_scheduler.properties file.
    The guide indicated:
    Note:
    When Export to an external directory is selected, the enabled drop-down menu is populated by folder locations specified in the fr_scheduler.properties file in the <FinancialReporting>\lib directory on the Hyperion Financial Reporting Scheduler Server computer. Here is a sample from that file: # ExportFolderLabel1=ExportFolder1 # ExportFolderPath1=\\\\{machine name}\\{export folder name} A system administrator must determine all the folders where exports are permitted. Contact your system administrator to specify a different folder location.
    Does anyone know the syntax in the new file for 11.1.2.2. I searched and couldn't find the reference to the new settings and how to organize it.
    We want to have multiple file directories show up in the drop down as needed.

    In this version it is added via FRconfig.cmd.
    follow below steps:
    Logon to FR report server
    Go to Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\financialreporting\bin
    Run FRconfig.cmd
    Click Mbeans
    Expand .com.HYperion
    Click Financial Reporting
    Click Attributes
    Click ExportFolders
    Specifies the folder locations when exporting and deploying
    a book as html.
    The syntax should be:FolderLabel1=FolderPath1,
    FolderLabel2=FolderPath2, and so on.
    Example: export1=e:\\exportfolder1,export2=e:\
    \exportfolder2

  • Help..Directory move..lost files?

    Hi All,
    Major problem.  I have saved raw files from the camera to a folder Photos on my C Drive, in subfolders per date i.e. 2007-01-01 etc.  I imported from each folder into LR (now 2.5) so that there is a folder for each date with the assorted metadata.  I have now moved the entire directory and sub folders to an external hard drive, via copy using Karen's replicator.  Now most of my folders in LR have disappeared.  Under the catalog, all photographs lists 10860, and they have the assigned attributes and metadata.  If I click on any of the photos, they all have ? marks meaning they can not be located, and the locate allows me to navigate to the external drive, but I don't have a clue which folder to start looking in.  Any suggestions how to fix this mess??  Thanks in advance, Bob

  • Link to external avi/mov into flash?

    I would like to know if I can link to an AVI or MOV file from flash. In other words, I want to know if I can put into my AS3 code a link which refers to an AVI or MOV file sitting out on my harddrive or server. What I would like to do is end up having it play in the swf with the original content. Kind of like hitting a button and making it go to a movie but having the movie play where the button was on the screen. Can I do something like src="" and fill in the link to the netstream or something to an external avi? or does it have to be in F4v or FLV?

    None of the file formats that you mentioned will just play by themselves, they require a media player. So if the file type is .flv or f4v for example, they require a .swf media player to display them.
    That's the good part!
    So you set up your media player (inside your existing .swf) as a FLVPlayback component or as a NetStream player and use the absolute address of the .flv file as the source to load... for example:
    ns.play(http://www.yoursite.com/video_files/your_video.flv);
    of course the exact path will depend on if you are just wanting playback locally or playback from files over the Internet.
    Put the player in whaterver frame you want and just use a button to jump to the frame with your video player in it. Also be sure to provide controls so the viewer can navigate away from the video and back to the rest of the site when they want.
    You will not be able to playback files on your local machine from over the Internet without a more complex method of allowing you to select files from your local machine by "Browse"ing for them.

  • Search and compare in an external directory

    I am still a relative neophyte to the world of ColdFusion,
    but I have created some fairly sophisticated real estate
    applications. I have an issue that I need to solve and I’m
    not sure exactly how to approach it. I’m thinking that the
    solutions will most likely involve some ColdFusion and perhaps some
    other techniques, but I’m not sure.
    Here’s the situation:
    Located on a server that is external to my application is a
    directory that has in it a large number of image files. The image
    files are all named under a very specific naming convention. These
    images are for real estate listings, and the filenames are the MLS
    number for that listing followed by _1, _2, _3, etc. depending on
    how many images are associated with that particular listing.
    What I need to be able to do is: (a.) check for the existence
    of any image associated with a particular listing (some may have no
    images) and (b) count the number of images associated with a
    listing by performing some sort of search an compare function with
    a count.
    I have no idea if this is possible using ColdFusion or what
    would be the best way to tackle this. Any suggestions would be
    appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Joe

    the images reside on another server that isn't running
    ColdFusion so I
    will need to find a solution that doesnt involve CFDIRECTORY.
    You can use cfdirectory on the coldFusion server just as long
    as you can
    log into that server as the user under which the ColdFusion
    service is
    running and then navigate to the images server though the
    file system.
    Now the default ColdFusion user is "localSystem" on windows.
    And this
    user would not normally have any permissions to resources not
    on the
    local box. But if you can provide a user that does have the
    necessary
    permissions then this kind of cross network access is quite
    easy to do.
