Has anyone elses Accuweather packed up after the latest N97 FW update?
Mine won't get any data at all

Mine has packed it in as well, nothing I have done so far seems to fix it.
    I've tried the following:
    - Restarting Phone
    - Removing widget from homescreen and re-adding it
    - Content to offline mode/content to online mode
    - Uninstall/Reinstall
Given that these workarounds usually resolve problems with this widget I can't help wondering if there is a problem at the server end (maybe they're releasing a new widget to match the new website).

Try connecting phone in mass storage mode and select show all files, look in 'private on E and delete the files listed, has worked for me in the past !
Storage Drives: (Mass storage E, Memory Card F)
    \private\101ffca9\harvesterdbvx_x.dat
    \private\10281e17\[string]mpxvx_x.db
    \private\10281e17\[string]pcvx_x.db
TIP: Connect the device in USB mass storage mode (File Transfer), to locate the private folder from the PC.
TIP: STRING and x_x will change depending on your phone.
After you've done this, then you should be able to re-scan and re-create the Music Library.

  • N97 screen suddenly gone black.....

Hi, i am new to the forum. I have owned a N97 now for 2 months or so, found it to be an average phone compared to the old n95 8gb i used to own. Tonight i've gone to use my phone, and the screen is black, i have restarted the phone over 5 times and still the screen is blank/black. Still responsive to touch, not that you know what your touching, i can still recieve calls but screen remains black...............i really need help, no idea what to do!

Unfortunately your phone has suffered a hardware failure.  Most likely a failed screen or loose connection inside.
You need to take it to a nokia care point (or contact your network if purchased from them) for repair. You can find details of the nearest via the "contact us" link near the top of the page.

  • N97 mini after new fw clock gone

Hi, i have updated my n97 mini and now the clock is gone from the home screen, does anybody knows any solution for this?

bizarre - there is no way to get of the clock either.
I would say reinstall the FW again and do a hard reset - I see no other option.
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

  • N97 screen gone black ?? please help

the screen on my n97 had coloured lines going through it this kept happening for a few days and then the screen went black i can still get calls etc and the touch screen still works? if i slide the phone open or close the screen sometimes goes different colours!!
can any one tell me whats wrong or how i can fix this please

From what you tell, I'm 99% sure that your device suffers from a hardware failure/malfunction. AS we cannot help you with such issues here, you will have to visit a Nokia care point to get it repaired.
Similar issues have been reported many times regarding similar devices. Most of them seems to be with the 5800 and the other 5000 candy bar touch screen phones.
    Good luck!

  • N97 WLan settings and wizard GONE!!

My wlan settings and wlan wizard has disappeared from my phone. Even after re-installing software and putting it back to factory settings, I can no longer use the wlan on my phone ... Not happy, pls help

Yes - this happened to me too. The only way I could resolve it was by doing a HARD reset (power off the phone and then press the
    Caps shift
    Space bar
    Delete button
    On button
    simultaneously).
This corrected the WLan and opther problems - but if you try this ensure that you have backed up all your stuff (contacts/data etc.) first, just in case. It will not affect stuff on a memory card, but will probably affect items on the phone and mass memory.
After the reset the firmware showed the latest version12.0.026.209.06 on my unbranded N97. What's more I seemed to have doubled the amount of free RAM, even after loading all my programs and data etc.
It's a pain that this had to be done, though. Is it a case of the update not being thoroughly tested for UK versions? We've had to wait long enough for this firmware update!

  • N97 gone berzerk! Which processes are running?

Weirdest thing. My 5-month-old N97 had pretty much settled into my routine and the battery was lasting most of the week. Leave charging on Sunday night and would last the week if I didn't get too eager with the GPS or camera.
Last Moday we finally got the Maps 3.4 update available OTA and Nimbuzz was offering an update as well, so I backed up with PC Suite and upgraded. By Wednesday morning, the battery was down to 2 bars, so I recharged. By Thursday, the battery was dead again! Something is running on the phone and draining it!!
So, besides holding down the silver selector button to see the apps that are running, is there any way to determine which processes are being executed? Even if it entails having to install some utility or something. I am explicitly quitting all listed applications, yet something is killing the battery.

  • N97 mini signal is gone

My phone has no signal. Any suggestions what to do ? You can take it outside or indoors it doesn't work. Worked before just fine.

Is the network mode set to gsm or dual mode or UMTS? If it is set to UMTS, try switching to dual mode or gsm. If this works, it would suggest that there is a problem with the 3g network in your area. Your old phone is probably gsm only.

  • My N97 experience... not all bad

When I first received my N97 at the end of June with its v10 firmware it was truly awful!
I actually went through 3 handsets in 10 days.
I experienced freezing, crashing, incorrect ringtones, slow GPS and "Out of Memory" issues constantly. I was forced, because of the low C: drive, to install widgets, themes and as many app's as possible to Mass Memory, which in turn led to problems of their own when connecting to PC Suite in anything other than PC Suite mode. I could not even install some of Nokia's own app's as they would take up the precious C: drive.
It took me quite awhile to adjust the Destinations settings, using trial and error, so that I used my home wifi and 3G whilst out.
Then, about two or three weeks later, v11 was released on Vodafone and I upgraded the firmware, using PC Suite, with no problem and was quite pleased that I did not have to reinstall everything from scratch. The only change that I noticed with v11 was that my widgets worked a little better and that my thumbnails loaded quicker. However, the phone still gave me "Out of Memory" errors, crashed and was sluggish and unresponsive to touch, sometimes requiring 3/4 taps to get it working.
Like the majority of N97 owners, I was not a happy bunny and felt ripped off when I compared the N97 to my N95 and N95 8GB. I was thoroughly cheesed off with having to go through manually clearing the browser cache every day, not being able to have theme effects on or use anything except the built in themes for fear of crashing. Also the GPS was still taking far too long to get a mediocre lock.
Then around the end of August it was announced that v12 would be launched to address some of these problems and I eagerly awaited its coming. As with all the N97 firmware releases, the Continent version was released first, this was then to be followed by the UK CV (Country Variant) at some time in the future and finally the operator branded version even later still.
It was at this point that my frustration with the N97 got the better of me and I took the decision to change the product code to the Euro one and risk voiding my warranty to get v12 that much quicker, all went surprisingly smoothly and I was able to obtain the v12 firmware weeks ahead of Vodafone's release.
The v12 firmware did bring about some minor changes but not enough to stop my handset from crashing, freezing, every now and then. I still found the phone to be sluggish and unresponsive. I was still having to spend a lot of time "nursing" it by Clearing C: drive, which was hovering around 15MB and watch my RAM usage at around 10Mb. I still could not use anything other than the built-in theme with no effects for fear of overloading the pitiful RAM.
I was also using the beta Nokia Photo Browser as this seemed to display quicker and better than the Gallery. Also, album art was a bit hit and miss although my crashes and freezes were less. To say that I was disappointed at this stage would be an understatement. I felt thoroughly cheated by Nokia who, it seemed to me, had rushed out the N97 with immature firmware just to compete with the iPhone 3GS.
I had experienced poor RAM before, with the N95, but this had been rectified to a large extent, by a firmware update. I thought about the millions of people worldwide who had purchased the N97 and had not, or could not, update the firmware and were cursing Nokia and the N97.
It would seem that Nokia had not learnt from Apple iPhone's original launch when they promised the earth and ended up refunding early adopters after pressure was brought to bear. I also despised Nokia's head in the sand approach to the lens scratching fiasco that, luckily, I have not suffered from.
By this time I was seriously considering getting rid of my N97 and moving on. It was becoming a full time job to ensure that there was enough RAM and C: drive. I was constantly having to make tradeoffs about installing certain app's and although my GPS had improved it wasn't great. I was also cheesed off using the scroll bar to go through lists and got frustrated with it on Contacts and Music, usually ending up using the Nav pad. The touch screen was still a joke with me having to constantly tap to try and get it to work.
    Enough was enough!
I'd spent over a quarter of a year trying to come to terms with what was supposed to be a Nokia flagship phone costing £500 that just did not deliver.
And then I saw a preview of v20 with its kinetic scrolling and RAM and C: usage enhancements and thought I'd give the N97 one last chance.
After all, I stood to lose about half the phones cost if I tried to sell it on.
Like most of you, I waited with baited breath for the will they, won't they, release of v20.
Then, finally, it became available for my, now, unbranded Euro firmware and I jumped on it immediately.
That's where I made my first mistake, as I downloaded v20 straight away using NSU and immediately started to get freezes, crashes and rebooting. Photo's were slow and the Music library was a nightmare.
The penny then dropped, as they say, and I realised from my experiences with the N95 and N95 8GB, that with a firmware upgrade of this magnitude it was bound to cause problems if I either just upgraded or reinstalled from PC Suite backup.
I then proceeded to format both the phone and Mass Memory and reinstall everthing from scratch. Not an easy or short task I might add.
    It was worth it though!
I had nearly 60MB free on C: drive, before installing themes, app's and widgets. My RAM was now 40+MB after boot up and rarely goes below 20MB.
Kinetic scrolling is a joy to use. The phone is no longer sluggish. The touch screen is very responsive. I ditched Nokia Photo Browser beta as the in-built photo's prog offered so much more. The music library is a lot better. Particularly with album art. Boot up time is quicker. Widgets are more stable, although Accuweather seem to have dropped "Current Location". My GPS achieves a more accurate, and quicker, lock than before. I experience a lot less lags. The built-in browser is a lot quicker, I can hold down a key in QWERTY to get a symbol. The speakers even sound better!
Also there was a lot of tinkering and tweaking of settings as this can make a big difference to the way the phone funtions, as we can see by the forum postings.
IMHO this was the N97 I thought I was getting in June. This is the N97 that Nokia should, and could, have released and I cannot excuse them for palming off inferior firmware.
OK, it's not perfect, but as Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman... "it has potential".
Am I going to ditch it? The answer is no!
Because I think that v20 has gone a long way to solving a lot of the things that bugged me. It shows me what this phone is capable of. It can multi task. It can run prog's without crashing.
Some of us wax lyrical about the N95 but I remember all the complaints about the lack of RAM and it's slowness, poor camera and video. until it received it's v20 upgrade which changed the phone completely and actually put it ahead of the N95 8GB with its restricted Mass Memory.
Perhaps smart phones are becoming too smart.
We get them and fire them up, sometimes ignoring the manuals, and then shove loads of third party software on them without a thought or adjustment to settings and expect them to work perfectly. I know from my own experience that I've had to uninstall software from a handset because of conflicts or poor programming.
I know that there are delays with the release of firmware updates between the Continent, CV and operator branded handsets but this is not all down to Nokia but rather to getting country approvals and operator "adjustments".
I must stress that these are my opinions based on my usage, app's and phone model.
I understand I may come in for a lot of flak for this and I am certainly no technical genius. I'm just trying to relate my everyday experience and frustration with the N97.
As my dear old mum used to say... "Speak as you find" and I'm finding this phone a lot better than it was.

I have had a very similar experience with the N97 and agree that now with firmware v20 the phone is just usable. It's ridiculous that to get to this point we've had to put so much work into researching solutions, resetting the phone multiple times, formatting the mass memory, reloading media and maps (also multiple times), uninstalling and reinstalling apps, and installing and reinstalling firmware updates. My wife jokingly said to me that I'd spent more time trying to get the phone running than actually using it. The sad thing is that this is pretty much true and no matter how well the phone works I will always remember the first four months of very sub par performance.
IMHO if Nokia hadn't skimped on the memory for the RAM and c drive the N97 would have suffered from a lot less problems. Also instead of spending four months trying to resolve these memory issues in the development for the v20 firmware release, they could have focussed on the multitude of other bugs. And how much do you think Nokia saved by skimping, maybe a few dollars per handset. Contrast this with how much bad publicity they have received over the N97 as well as the bad experience for people who spent US $700 for a flagship device.
Added to all these faults is the poor way that Nokia have handled this. From the head in the sand approach to the camera lens scratches and poor GPS, to the lack of Mac support, and to the complete denial that there is even a problem.
Nokia's official support is also problematic, the user to user forum is good but it should not be a replacement for official support pages (the device support pages only provide the product guide and link to the discussions forum) and getting anything other than form responses and incorrect information from the Nokia Customer Care makes this service a complete waste of time.
Will I sell my N97? No, not for the moment.
Can I recommend the N97? No!
Can I recommend any Nokia product? No!

  • N97 v2.0 firmware issues/bugs

    installed n97 v 2.0 nam version
installed great.. didnt even delete all apps or loose most settings..
    some issues
    1. the fm transmitter app seems to be gone.. although in settings you can set the channel etc. and you can enable it from the music player.  But the music player is not the only apI use it from ... what gives.. doesnt nokia think we use the fm transmitter for anything else..
    2. performance.. maybe to save memory or something but multi-tasking is not as smooth.. when i run the audible book player at the same time while garmin is running it stutter every few minutes.. this did not happen with older f/w... it doesnt happen with garmin and the music player so does anyone know how to raise the priority off apps so i can raise it for the audible player.. fm transmitter seems stronger than old f/w maybe they raised the output power.
some big files in the install directory on c drive you can delete liek ms exchange 2 meg and other directories have the preinstalled **bleep** like spore, etc. that you can remove to get another 3 or meg free.
need to use xplore that lets you look in the private directory..

    - SIP aka 'Internet Calling' is missing...Again.  Could have sworn I heard that Nokia Rep in a video saying it was added back in.
    - Skype - where is it? give me the link, i would love to download it.  What kiils me is this is a working available app that is being held back for some silly reason and the only ones it affects are the users whom bough the phone.
    - Need to reboot phone to load Music file to be added from removable Storage - it does not seem to do its own search for music, nor could I find the 'search for music' option on the context menu.
    - MP4 (h.264) video files only play audio - strange part is that a thumbnail is generated of the video. Why Real Player and not VLC or MPlayer....RP is garbage, so 1992.  It would be nice to have a video player that plays video from this decade.
    - Still no way to remove Boingo and all those useless apps to free up the precious space on C Drive.
    - Not a big deal, but it seems that some ring tones are gone - like the simple 'ring ring' tune.
    - Ovi store is better - but it would be nice you could get more than 11 items per page.
    - Still no soft keyboard we saw way back in February?
    - On the home screen, all the status icons on the top right are still all gimped together in a messy tangle (wifi, bt, gps, mail icon, voicemail etc) - cant these be spread out like on the apps menu? It looks terrible!
    - All these new widgets there was so much talk about?
    - In the apps folder there are normal sized icons as before then HUGE icons like facebook - whats up with that?
    - HTML mail still not supported in the Mail Client - and OVI Mail is terrible and not an option, not to mention going through a 3rd party to retrieve mail makes no sense.  Cant we just get a slightly improved mail client? it is almost 2010 after all.
    - Home screen - why not use a little more of the usable space such that the info displayed has a little more room to actually be relevant and readable, seems to be a lot of wasted space. like the separate clock/date/profile.  Surely there is a tighter way to display everything.  The profile can be changed by hitting the power button....
    - Calendar Widget - why not show the next few events even if they are two or three days away instead of displaying "next entry on XXX" - sort of makes it pointless the way it is.
    - Maps - why not throw us N97 users a bone and give us a free licence for OVI maps for say a year to make up for the wool that was pulled over our eyes when we all purchased this expensive 'flagship' phone that still does not have the advertised options on it.  The way i see it, a phone is good for 1 year, and I'm going on month 5 where today after the upgrade does it seem we're coming out of BETA.
    - Camera lens still gouges itself, so I am afraid to open the cover to test the camera unless I really really need to take a photo.
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

  • My experience with the N97 - "my last Nokia"

    Hi everyone,
I know this is a user-to-user support forum but I believe a complaint to be some sort helps users to decide whether the N97 is for them or not. Before you read on, this post will contain comparisons to competitors, so if you hate apples, feel free to ignore me! (Also I don't think users should stop harassing Nokia for what they have done to us - the more complaints the better. Igoring customers is not a very good corporate strategy. Eventually it will take them down - people buy Nokia for quality, otherwise they could buy a rip-off from ebay).
Just skimming over the posts shows me that I am not alone. So let me share my experience with Nokia and the N97. I am too tired complaining about this phone, at least I think my experience has made sure that no-one of my friends and relatives is ever going to buy a Nokia again.
When I bought the phone for then 500 pounds at the Nokia flagship store in London it seemed nice enough. Good camera, decent keyboard and features competitors could only dream of. Unfortunately, that's paperwork. For a start, the much advertised facebook application was completely disfunctional and taking into account that Nokia clearly tried to compete with the iphone (my apologies again for mentioning a competitor) frankly a lame joke. I know a firmware update has somewhat relieved the situation now, but I will come to that later.
Okay, so I have disabled the facebook application. Not a drama, surely the rest will work okay. But then after a week some of the pictures I took with the built-in camera weren't accessible anymore (broken image displayed). Again, I have another camera and I was hoping for a firmware update so I ignored it. I had now started using the joikuspot app to browse the internet on my linux box. Very nice. I started using email a lot on my phone but again was disappointed. I have a £165 ipod touch here. Without kinetic scrolling and an extremely bad UI design, by which I mean the icons and menus (ignoring the graphics flaws all the time) it is no match for the ipod, so what i did was to use joiku spot with my ipod touch. Before that firmware update the N97s browser was also still buggy so I used joikuspot for that too. I was now down to using my £500 smartphone as a wireless modem. What a shame. But I was still hoping for some kind of magic update.
Then finally, I found out about the firmware update. I had to open my phone, check the serial and visit the Nokia website. Unfortunately, the Ovi software and drivers supplied with the phone did not recognize my N97 properly. Something which I think was fixed with the firmware update (anyone seeing a circular dependency here? ) Furthermore, the built-in firmware update over 3G seemed to be disabled. So I made the journey back to the flagship store in London, explaining the problem. I was greeted by an extremly rude employee. Well, I think that's not really his fault, I guess he was just sick of all the complaints. Anyways, I told him that the 3G update was not working and he started to be really patronizing telling me that I wouldn't listen to him (he said it was "working" but "disabled"). Maybe I should have told him that I am a software engineer and that in 99.9% of the cases in which we disable a feature, the reason is that it is "not working". Anyways, he kindly allowed me to use one of their machines to update the firmware "at my own risk", which worked. At no point I have received an apology for the fact that I have paid Nokia £500 to beta-test their products.
Now of course, the firmware update has succeeded, but is all fine? Far from it.... As many report on this forum the N97s battery meter is faulty. Countless times, my phone has just literally died overnight. It even forgets time and date! This is more than bad - every phone I have had so far complained about a draining battery well in advance. I had to dig out my old phone to serve as an alarm clock again - the fact that the alarm clock itself is unreliable is a alltogether different matter... One time the battery died during the day - after doing nothing for 4 hours in my sports bag (started with 1 bar down). When I had to make a call that day, for the first time in I don't know how many years I had to use a telephone box. Progress?!
The firmware update has also barely improved the email client - just a few ui glitches solved. However, the biggest issue at the moment seems to be the weird memory organization. When I buy a phone I don't want to deal with something like the c drive problem. Reinstalling applications on the 32gb partition helps somewhat but why didn't Nokia do that in the first place? Has this phone never been tested? The phone is still way too slow.
I can't comment on the iplayer app - says it needs wlan to work. But the youtube player has crashed every time i used it. And by crashing I mean it took down the whole phone with it. I admit that my ipod crashed a few times too - in just under a year (~3 times). But the reset was straightforward every time. With the N97, the only thing that seems to help is to take the battery out!
Before I forget, the N97 doesn't even work as a phone. In a 30 minute conversation, the call got dropped 4 times. I don't know whether it was because of a calibration issue with the proximity sensor or a more serious problem, all I know is that this is unacceptable!
I am sick of the phone and Nokia's service. The joikuspot app ran out and asks me to pay... I have paid £500 pounds for the bloody phone already. The adobe reader asks me to pay... (somehow it ran out without me even using it). Maybe you see why I am getting angry now - the only use case that actually put the N97 on top of my old phone was gone. What infuriated me even more, is that Nokia bundles this software with the phone. It cannot actually be deinstalled! It just sits there merrily and takes up my hard drive space.
Last but not least, I have written to Nokia already, but not received a response! This is a Nokia forum with Nokia employees following the posts. I would be very, very, very grateful if Nokia could give me a refund. However, with them not even acknowledging the various problems I somehow don't see that coming. I'll probably have to sell it with a massive loss on ebay.
    Cheers,
    Will
P.s.: I have all the same small issues as the other guys here - slider lock at the side not working etc. You are not alone... Has anyone complained about the music player? I have 16gb of music on the phone and scrolling is impossible! The Symbian OS is so obviously not built for a touch screen that it hurts. Of course they don't put much music on the phones in the Nokia store so people only find out when they get home...

    2. Is there a touch querty as an input method? like windows mobile ? Request Know How. I now seem to agree to the feedback on one of the blogs.. that nokia designers feel that the average size of user hands would be that of big people & fingers like a japaneese teen. The physical keyboard does not seem to offer any additional functions other than text input !
    3. Predictive text where in the touch screen menu, the words dont get auto completed. This increases the number of taps/input strokes. Is the n97 intelligent & learn words from sms, contacts, emails. my blackberry does so. Request Know How & any options to edit custom dictionary. Auto Punctuation ? Am i expecting too much already ?
    4. Single hand use of phone impractical using touch pad t9. Entering alphanumerics on the physical querty is a nightmare... Request Know how on tips & tricks.
    5. Green tick yes or v button on top left of the text input screen. friendly again only for big handed people. Could this have been at bottom right. Is alternate screen for text input touch t9 available? Requested Know how.
    6. Unnecessary taps additional taps alomost in all menus...for eg.. sending a biz card from n97 requires 5 taps... in the other mobile phone systems it can be done in 3 taps. Requested Knowhow for shortcuts.
    7. Can In a nokia we get a view of the entire events as single thread.... No Provision for search display against keywords upon I can get call logs, messages - Here in Nokia, no search filters / advanced search and all searches results plotted to applications vs person/events. Requested Know How if it can be done like blackberry / windows mobile.
    8. Copy & Paste across applications. eg. Select text from web page copy n paste on message application.... possible on Nokia...? Requested Know How
    9. Call& Event Logs e.g Missed calls. If there are 5 missed calls the log will show the last called time only. In most other mobile systems Blackberry, windows each event is logged against a user. Requested know how on how this is handled in Nokia.
    10. Lag in picture display upon call. Number displays first and after few seconds lag the pic pops up. Is this normal & acceptable ? Other windows / rim devices show it instantly.
    11. When will Nokia enable usage of Native clients like google talk, yahoo like blackberry, iphone ? Any know how on possibility of release. Any equal alternatives suggested for n97. Tried Nimbuzz, Fring, Ebuddy. Miss the chat message notification icon on home screen, notification on the chat messaging icon, sound, breathing lights.
    12. Is there any planning for better email client? Likely Release dates?
    13. The Java App for GMAIL on blackberry shows an indicator on icon in addition to customised alert setting tone & breathing light for new messages. Retreiving Emails is consistent & auto on other devices. The Nokia Does not seem to auto refresh + No Notification. How is it handled on Nokia ?
    14. Can user friendliness be something where we can do actions with a contact or on contacts screen single view... e.g see contact on google map, Help on contacts screen/n97 help, lookup contact on server, filter by category. new address, new group, view, edit, delete, activity log (incl sms, mms, email, calls), call, sms, mms, email, send as attachment, send as im, add a custom ring tone, add picture, options - sort by, separators, sync settings, actions, switch
applications, exit. We have seen it on inexpensive phones. is it possible to be done on Nokia?
SOME OF MY STILL UNRESOLVED PROBLEMS Post upgrade to ver 12. Did you also face similar bugs/issues?
    15. Contacts inaccessible – “Memory Full Error”. No other applications were active at the time of the error. Just unable to reach any of my 3500 contacts through the contacts options & do anything.
    16. Pbk2 error upon selecting contacts in the messaging application.
    17. Audio Delay upon receiving a call. No Sound upon connection of incoming call. Especially if picked up too fast.
    18. Shows as searching for network constantly many times a day. We have 2 n97s & observed that both n97 almost have similar timing of network loss. Whereas, our other devices like blackberry do not show any weak signal signs.
    19. GPS Lock. Keeps searching for GPS locks constantly i.e Drops connection to GPS network frequently.
    20. Unpredictive battery talk time, standby & required Charge time.
    21. Voice inaudible at other end, when using loudspeaker & especially during calls from moving vehicle.
    22. Camera:
    a. Picture clarity issues. Secondary camera highly pixelated. Primary camera shows light flooding on pictures. Clarity Missing.
    b. Erroneous Time stamp on images.
c.Lens Cover Started to show minor scratch pressure.
    23. Ovi Suite recommends erroneous updates for E.g Maps 3
    24. Text Input touch t9 screen freezes / Hangs, especially when entering special characters like period(.), comma(,), exclamation (!) etc
    25. Selectively & at random contact Name not displayed on Caller ID (sometimes)
    26. Selectively Message & Message delivery display number, instead of stored contact names.
    27. Sync Issue, All contacts not synced always.
How to sync "categories" field as stored in outlook or how to map custom fields to Nokia.
    28. Format Mass Memory error, Unable to format. Unable to delete specific files.
    29. The auto lock... When attempted to unlock with querty out .. it still opens in portrait mode ?
    30. SMS Logs Not updated. e.g any sms sent before storing a contact.... after storing or adding
contact the number does not get automatically updated to the name. It reflects the number still in the logs.
    31. Picture caller... The face is half cut ..Looks weird on most images... as the number is not transparent. In landscape mode there is enough space on the screen to put up the answer or reject buttons and displaying the numbers.
    32. Browser will close on its own & return to menu or home screen.
thanks in advance for your time to stop & read. Pls do send any information that you think will be useful to me for making the n97 do some work.
    NEW additions:
    (tested on another n97)
    33. Predictive Text :
Usage for auto word completion only on physical keyboard, when the Dpad down key is used it throws up options but the way the scroll is designed you can see the full word and one makes mistakes.
    34. another strange behaviour is on the text input... this was on an email i was trying to reply. the stylus touch will paste the last keyed in word !! we wonder why.
    35. and while showing off the second n97 we have (again 3-4 weeks old) - we were asked how much did we pay for this second hand unit - 50% off .. apparently the comment as the surface has got scratched very badly.
i hope the info is good use to others who want to take the risk of buying this device

Wait for the server to come back.  If the server is down, then there is nothing you can do about it, and you must wait for apple to get the server back up and running.

  • N97 Mini can no longer be found on iPhoto.

hey, will some one kind enough to sort me out this ' dreadful problem , my N97 mini has been working fine with iPhoto, getting images/ videos off my phone, now when i plug it in, i click Mass storage and nothing on iPhoto changes, everything else works like finder, because the folders on the desktop, but i dont no what's happened, the only thing changed from other times is i have recently upgraded to snow leapard but i dont see how that could be the problem.

If you had iTunes set not to copy added recordings into its own library, then the files might be anywhere and justreferenced in iTunes. Only you could know where you put the originals, but if careful searching doesn't find them that suggests they've been deleted.
If it did copy the files but you have deleted the library from your 'Music/iTunes' folder then the songs are gone. Again, if searching produces no results then the songs would appear to be missing from your computer.
With no backups, and the songs deleted, they are lost. 'iTunes in the Cloud' might enable you to re-download songs you had purchased, but I doubt this works on Leopard, which your signature says you have.
