ACE 4710 use dns name in real server

Is there any way to use a DNS name in real server and not a static IP.

Hi,
This is not possible at the moment. With ACE EOL, i don't think it would be added either.

  • Unity Express Backup: Can we use DNS name of FTP server instead of IP address?

    Gentlemen!
In the Unity Express system, can we use DNS name of FTP server (Microsoft FTP Server) instead of IP address in the General configuartion for Backup Server?
    e.g.  FTP://FTP_Server_Name/Directory
Additionally we need to configure/add DNS server name in the Domain Name settings under system menu. Is there any additional configuration would require for setting up FTP server with DNS entry & above config?

    Backing Up and Restoring Data
    Last Updated: May 12, 2010
Cisco Unity Express backup and restore functions use an FTP server to store and retrieve data. The backup function copies the files from the Cisco Unity Express application to the FTP server and the restore function copies the files from the FTP server to the Cisco Unity Express application. The FTP server can reside anywhere in the network if the backup and restore functions can access it with an IP address or hostname.
We recommend that backups be done regularly to preserve voice-mail messages and configuration data.
Backup and restore commands are available in configuration mode and in offline mode.
•In configuration mode, commands are available to set the following parameters:
–Number of backup files to keep (the oldest file is deleted).
–URL of the FTP server where the files will be stored.
•In offline mode, perform the backup or restore procedure. Decide the following:
–Type of files to be backed up: all files (configuration and data), only configuration files, or only data files. Data files consist of voice-mail messages. Configuration files consist of all other system and application parameters.
–URL of the FTP server where the files will be stored.

  • Add LPD printer using DNS name

I am trying to add a networked printer in the Print Center using LPD and the DNS name. Whenever, I type the full dns name, I get an message that says "invalid or incomplete address". I know the dns name is correct and can add it no problem to systems running OS X 10.6 and 10.7. I can also add it in 10.8 using the IP address.
Has something changed in Mountain Lion or is this a bug?

I was just on the phone with Apple support as well. The "senior advisor" I talked to said he was familiar with "some other instances" of this happening. He opened a case and told me he would get back with me as well. He did say there is no known resolution.
The initial person I sopke with told me they only support direct connection of printers, not networked printing. The senior advisor tolde me that this is an issue with non-Mountain Lion compatible drivers… We are running primarily HP and Xerox workgroup-class devices that are a few months old up to 5 or 6 years old. They all print fine in ML if we get them set up (using an IP address). We are a publisher and would notice very quickly if print drivers didn't work correctly.
Hopefully, others reading this post will contact Apple as well. The squeaky wheel gets the attention. Will update this post when I hear back.

  • ACE 4710 using SAML Tokens

    reposted from another forum:
Am using an ACE 4710 and am converting incoming WSS username tokens to SAML Tokens - authenicating against Tivoli directory.
The receiving web service is attempting to validate the SAML token but fails on digest verification. i.e. calculates the digest value over the SAML token and fails when comparing to the digest in the Xml Signature block.
Is anybody else using SAML tokens?
Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

You are right we are using transport encryption (SSL) to protect the WSS Password.
We then use LDAP to authenticate the username/password and create a SAML token using attributes from LDAP. The ACE Xml Gateway creates this SAML token, signs it and inserts into the SOAP header that is forwarded to our service.
At our service we are trying to verify the signed SAML token. The error we are seeing is the Xml signature digest created by the ACE XML Gateway is wrong.
With XML signature some Xml referenced by an ID is canonicalised, hashed (digest created) and then this digest is encrypted using the private key of some certificate.
On receipt we repeat the process, canonicalise and hash the Xml referenced and compare our computed digest to the one created by the ACE device. This is where we get the error. We are using the standard canonicalisation and hashing algorithms (c14n and SHA1 respectively). Our code can successfully verify SAML tokens from other sources.

  • Reports with wrong Server details (using ODBC name instead of server name)

When I save a report either in Crystal Reports 11 (File save as, Enterprise u2013 Central Management Server) or Central Manager Console, Objects New Object I get an error.
On looking at the database all reports I am adding or saving are automatically taking the wrong server details, and it is a greyed out field, so I cannot edit it. I presumed it is getting this information from my ODBC settings, but appears to be using the ODBC name/description as the server name (The Database and usernames are correct). This is happening on every report!
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? How I can save or add new reports with the correct details?
Not sure if this will help, but the error message is:- Failed to open the connection. D:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\wdcsql1.reportjobserver\~tmp117852b044ee296.rpt

No, Crystal Reports in not installed on the server, and the ODBC settings are not setup on the server. However I did add the correct ODBC settings on the server but this has made no difference.
So do I need to setup all the ODBC settings in advance of anyone saving a report (I will need to try and find obtain them all)?
Should the server also have a version of Crystal Reports on it?
One report is working but it was added by the guy that installed it, and this report is using the same database as all the reports that I have added, and should be the same ODBC settings.
The server (server username) does not have access to the original location of the reports, so it cannot run the reports - however when I save them to the server via enterprise or the import tool, does a version of the report get saved on the server? If so can you point me in the direction of them, so I can try and run them via the server?

  • Shouldn't ACE 4710 ignore cookie stickiness when the server is down?

    Hello,
I have implemented sticky load balancing with cookies. The problem is that if one of my two servers in the server farm is down (and even if the ace recognizes it as down via a probe) it keeps sending the requests to the server that is down, obviously because it has set a cookie for this server,
Shouldn't the ACE ignore the cookie when the server is down?
Is there a command to ignore cookie stickiness if the server is down? Is there another workaround?
an example of my config is
    serverfarm host SF_Ebanking
      rserver RS_IAS_1 XXXX
        conn-limit max 4000000 min 4000000
        probe http_probe_ebanking
        inservice
      rserver RS_IAS_2 XXXX
        conn-limit max 4000000 min 4000000
        probe http_probe_ebanking
        inservice
    sticky http-cookie ACE_COOKIE ebanking_sticky
      cookie insert
      replicate sticky
      serverfarm SF_Ebanking
      16 static cookie-value "server01" rserver RS_IAS_1
      24 static cookie-value "server02" rserver RS_IAS_2
    thanks,
    george

This is not as obvious as you seem to believe.
ACE will not select a server that is down !!!! Even if the cookie points to that server.
What might be happening is that the connection from the browser to the ACE has not been killed, so when client sends a new request it reuses the existing connection and ACE does allow an existing connection to be maintain with a dead server by default.
Try the command 'failaction purge' under the serverfarm.
This should kill the active connections with the dead server and allow a new connection to be open with the other server even if the cookie points to the dead one.

    Gilles.

  • Domain name/"primary DNS" name/mail host name/mail server name/mx name

    Hi,
I have registered my domain name (N.com) with an external dns server and created an MX record (mail.N.com) for it as well. My server sits behind a router and internet traffic is port(80)-forwarded to my server's fixed internal ip address (I can access my webpages from the internet just fine). When I initially setup the server I was asked to give it a "primary DNS name." I naturally assumed that N.com was supposed to be entered here, but that just caused all kinds of problems (though I still do not understand why). So I reinstalled and currently have server.N.com as the primary DNS name of the server (although it shows up in Server Admin and Workgroup Manager as server.local--why is that?)
I have had no luck getting any email from the internet with the default settings in mail services (domain name of N.com and host name of server.N.com). Having no luck with the defaults, I assumed that maybe I needed to change the host name to "mail.N.com" so that it matched the MX record. I also changed the user preferences in Workgroup Manager to receive mail from mail.N.com--but still no luck. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how come none of the Mail Service literature mentions anything about what a mail "host name" is supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the same as the "Mail Server" name that Workgroup Manager asks each user for? and is it the same as the MX record name?
I am just needing some help to connect all these variously named, but undefined, dots.
Also, how come I can access webmail from the internet using www.N.com/webmail but can't do it from any computers within my physical network (I have to use IPaddress/webmail or server.local/webmail)?
Also, should my user email addresses be [email protected] or [email protected] (which is the current default)?
Thanks in advance and good luck!
    John

I had been told by a friend that ... regular email coming in from the internet would go through port 80
    Unfortunately you were misinformed.
My MX record needs the extra subname (such as "mail") in front of the domain name, right?
Not at all. A MX record for 'N.com' is entirely valid (expected, in fact).
An MX record tells remote mail servers where to send mail for any domain/subdomain. If you think about it, let's say you worked for Apple and you wanted people to be able to send email to [email protected], well then you need an MX record for 'apple.com'.
You can see if you dig MX apple.com that they actually have 9 MX records, but the point still stands.
Now, you might also have MX records for subdomains so that you can have [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. Each of these subdomains would need a separate MX record.
So, in general, for any set of email addresses @[anything.]domain.com you have a MX record telling remote mail servers where to send that mail.
Of course the MX record name is mail.N.com, but I think you are implying that the in the Mail settings of Server Admin where it asks for domain name all I need to put there is the N.com, right?
What I mean is that you need to set the domain name to whatever domain name you expect to receive mail at.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected], then you enter 'N.com'.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected] then you enter 'mail.N.com'.
If you want both forms, enter one in the main domain and add the other(s) in the Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases section.
Is there anything in the Mail settings that needs to have the full MX record name (mail.N.com)?
Yes. Either the 'domain name' or the 'Local Host Aliases' needs to contain the same thing as your MX record. That's because the MX record tells remote servers to send mail to this machine, but the machine won't accept the mail unless it is configured to do so.
What is the "host name" supposed to be?
This should be the name that remote servers see when this machine tries to send outgoing mail.
Ideally this should match the reverse DNS of your IP address, that way when it connects to a remote server it says "Hi, I'm $hostname" and the remote server can lookup the machine's IP address and see the same result. This will reduce the problem of remote servers thinking you're sending them spam.
If you only have a single IP address then this probably needs to be something like 'N.com'. If you don't have control over your reverse DNS then you're going to run into a problem.
Also in the user accounts (in Workgroup Manager) what should the "mail server name" be? Is it the host name or the domain name?
    Off hand, I don't know.
Also, why are all the default user email addresses [email protected] (the name I gave the server at setup)? Why doesn't the user accounts create [email protected] as the default address?
Presumably because the mail server says it is 'server.N.com' and therefore any accounts on that machine would be [email protected]. Changing the domain name (as above) should fix that.

  • [10.6 Server]Strange DNS Name

    Hi,
I'm having a strange (local) hostname on my XServe, running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.1.
When I view the DNS Name in the 'Server Preferences, Information-view', it shows: xserve-002436f2bc56.local
I see the same name as a prompt when I start the terminal.
How can I set (and save) the hostname of my Snow Leopard Server?
    - I've set the hostname in the PreferencesPane 'Sharing' to xserve01
    - I've set the hostname in the Terminal, using the command 'hostname' to xserve01.going.nowhere. (fully qualified domainname in our local domain)
    - I'm running DNS Server on this machine, and both the A-record and the PTR-record are set correctly: 192.168.0.111 <-> xserve01.going.nowhere
    Just to be complete:
    OS: Snow Leopard Server 10.6.1
    Services: Only Bind
    IP: 192.168.0.111
    DNS1: 192.168.0.111 (itself)
BTW: When I set the hostname in the terminal, but sort of saves that hostname as long as the server is up. But it doesn't change the DNS Name shown by "Information" in the Server Preferences.app.

That is the default name if you do not specify one at setup, which is your HW Type and MAC Address.
To change, open Server Admin, highlight your server, then click the the Settings Tool button, then select the Network button. You will see xserve-002436f2bc56. Change it there.
    OR
    `sudo /System/Library/ServerSetup/serversetup -setComputername NEWNAMEHERE`

  • Getting single "generic" WLS 4.5.1 app to serve multiple DNS names, including SSL

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to figure out a strategy to enable a single web application
based on WLS 4.5.1 (SP13) running on Linux to serve multiple DNS
names, with some specific pages to be transmitted using SSL.
While the JSP pages differ in colouring and screen layout (but not in
    logic),
the entire EJB business logic is identical for all DNS names. So are the
    servlets.
The application data to be presented to the user can easily be mapped,
and presently (with the application responding to a single DNS name)
it is cached using a JNDI tree. To minimize coding effort, and
to continue utilizing the present caching concept, only expanding it to
    support
multiple similar "virtual" applications, I would prefer to
continue using a single WLS instance when making the application "generic".
But as a consequence of this, I could only present a single SSL certificate
to the user if I had WLS answer internet HTTP requests directly.
What would you think should be done to get the browsers
"display the closed padlock while in the order form" for multiple DNS names
served by this same application instance?
One approach might be to put Apache in front of WLS, and configure it
to serve multiple virtual hosts (one for each DNS name to be served,
encoding the differences between the request URLs somehow in the ServerPath
directive, and providing a separate SSL certificate for each of those
    virtual
    hosts).
Does this make sense to you? Any experience in this area? Which Apache
and WL modules should I be using - which combination
    of mod_proxy, mod_ssl (by Apache), mod_wl, mod_wl_ssl[_raven] ?
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    Ruben
[A minor add-on question is: Is the situation truly different with
WLS 6.0? I understand it supports virtual hosting on its own. Can multiple
(web) applications running under a single common WLS "umbrella" server
instance share the same application data? I would expect so - is this true?]

Ruben, I can't help you with the specifics of the configuration but your
general strategy seems correct to me. WLS does not handle multiple certs
and one must front it with a Web server if multiple certs are required.

  • New app version detected after server ip changes (server using DNS / dynamic ip)

I have a JWS app deployed. The codebase URL is using a name for the server (dynamic IP address), and when you start the app it detects a new version every time there's a server IP change (I have no way to get a static IP for it). As long as it's the same app, how can i prevent this to happen?
I need changes to be checked every time the app is launched at the client side, but this behaviour is a problem for me because I have a limited upload bandwitch available at the server side.

Ok, it seems to have been a problem for some time. I found this thread:

  • Change domain name clients and server

    Hello,
I want to change the domain name from eg ".vancouver.gov" to ".vancouver.local" on all of our devices in the network. Zcm has been installed with ".vancouver.gov" and the clients also are registered with ".vancouver.gov". When i change the domain name on the workstations and change the corresponding dns entries of the workstations to ".vancouver.gov" i cannot register workstations anymore and wol does not work anymore. Distributing applications to the workstation does work.
Anybody now how to accomplish this change.
We have about 400 workstations and 1 zcm 10.3.3 server.
    Thanks.
    Ren

    I would recommend an SR.
Changing the DNS of Devices should not impact any of that, so long as
the clients can still properly resolve the servers and you are not
    destroying the old DNS zone.
This may indicate that the CA/Server CERTs do not have the fullied
qualified DNS name of the server but perhaps just the short name.
Also, I would not recommend attempting to fix any certs right away, but
rather using the "Additional DNS Name" setting on your server, since
changing a Cert could cause lots for work on client PCs.
Later versions of ZCM make changing server certs a little easier but for
10.3.3, I would just use the server setting instead of a change.
But since I suspect you can create an SR as most government accounts
can, it may be simplest to go that route but keep my thoughts avoiding
any cert rebuilds in mind if there is any issue with the names in the
    server cert.

  • NAC Profiler DNS Name Queries

    Hi Guys,
I'm having an issue with NAC Profiler 3.1.1_18 when trying to profile servers using DNS Name.
I have one collector configured to  do DNS Collection with Zone transfer enabled.
If I do a search with string *.server.*, the system returns me just servers with the word "server" in dns name. This is working fine.
But when a create a profile (named Servers) and add a rule to match dns server names with the string *.server.*, profiler will put in the Servers' profile all devices that has any data on DNS Name field. no matter if it has the word "server" in the name or not.
Any idea about what I'm forgetting?

    Hi Luciano,
You may wanna test quickly by using the following string in the DNS Name field: /server/i

  • DNS Names Not supported by voicemail module - workaround?

    Hi,
I have an NEC UX5000 voicemail system that doesn't appear to support DNS Names.  Our SMTP host's WAN address changes often.  Instead of playing catch-up and change the wan address when someone tells me they are not getting their voicemails, is there a better way to handle this?
I was thinking of some type of IP based DDNS solution.  If I could point my mail server to an internal address that never changes, and have that dynamically get the IP of the SMTP server, and then translate it, that would fix my issue.
    Your thoughts?

              Hi,
I have 2 managed servers hosted on different IP addresse in a cluster.
I have configured Cluster address in weblogic console to these 2 IP addreses seperated

If I am doing lookup for a session bean from my application, which URL i should
              use in lookup?
If I have a DNS name configured, how I should use it? Can I lookup using DNS name
              only?
For Ex this is what I have done-
              I have 2 managed servers : 10.1.30.155 and 10.1.30.151
I have configured cluster addresses to '10.1.30.155, 10.1.30.151'
I am using url- 't3://DNSName' for Session Bean lookup.
Can any one guide me on this?
              Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
For the manual create the CNO usually cause may issue, you'd better don't use that method.
