ACE License downgrade

Hi All,
I had an issue with two ACE modules, working in active/standby mode. The active module was replaced after RMA and now I have active module with license ACE30-MOD-16-K9 and standby is with ACE30-MOD-08-K9. I have received the new ACE30-MOD-08-K9 lic file for the active module and now I need to downgrade active module license to ACE30-MOD-08-K9.
Does someone know what is the process to downgrade License from ACE30-MOD-16-K9 and standby is with ACE30-MOD-08-K9?
Thanks in advance

Yes and no. You can't have competing licenses installed. But you can have a base license and an upgrade license installed. Upgrade licenses basically enhance the numbers of whatever license was before it.
As applies to what you are doing, if you have a backup ACE, you can turn off config sync, uninstall the license on the standby, re-install the correct license, then turn sync back on. It will re-copy all the configuration. You will want to backup you SSL certs/keys and script files prior to doing this since they don't sync.

  • Flash Builder 4.6 Premium License downgrades to Standard License

I've installed the Flash Builder 4.6. When I start it in demo mode, I get the premium version of Flash Builder (because that is the version I've installed). When I enter a license key that is for a premium version of Flash Builder it gets downgraded to the standard edition. The key is definitly for a premium version, I've checked that at the IT support, and one of my co-workers (we have multi-user license) uses the key for the premium version too.
A side note: I have prevouisly installed Flash Builder 4.6 Premium but I had to uninstall it because it didn't work anymore. I have this license problem with the re-installation of Flash Builder.
Do you have any ideas what is wrong?

I am seeing a similar problem too...
I was using Flash Builder 4.6 on a FB 4.5 Premium serial number.
Upon upgrading to FB 4.7, which required me to enter the new FB 4.7 serial number I was sent, along with my old FB 4.5 serial number in order to qualify for the upgrade, FB 4.7 is now running in standard mode according to the splash screen.  Additional trying to use the Run -> Profile menu does not work, it tells me to go learn about buying premium upgrade.
According to http://www.adobe.com/products/flash-builder/buying-guide.displayTab2.html FB 4.5 premium, or 4.6 premium, are supposed to upgrade to FB 4.7 premium at no charge.

  • License downgrade query

    Hi,
    I've purchased windows 2012 R2 standrad license.
It's current unsed(not installed on server).
Pls. suggest can I downgrade it to 2008 R2 standard?
From where I'll get keys of 2008 R2 license?

    Hi,
You can downgrade, but it depend on your media for the next step. (retail vs VL vs OEM)
    Please see that link;
    http://www.microsoft.com/oem/fr-ca/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx#fbid=4ej9DrEQ_R6?hashlink=server
    In big;
    - If a VL, you can call Microsoft licensing and they will generate you another key for the 2008R2 in your VL's account.
    - If OEM, you need to call your revendor to get the media kit to re-install.
    - If retail you can use a a retail kit you have to downgrade.

  • SQL License Downgrade

    Hi,
I would like to ask help on some scenarios on SQL 2012 Standard Implementation.
Say for example, i have 1 clustered SQL 2012 Enterprise Evaluation scenario. Im planning to downgrade it to SQL 2012 Standard(now licensed edition). I checked here,https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393.aspx and
found out that this scenario is not supported. I already have populated some databases and i dont want to do fresh installation.
Could you recommend on what will be the possible solutions for me not to do fresh installation?
Can i backup my database file and once fresh installation is done, i will just load/import it. What will be considered if doing this?
Is it also possible for me to remove the node(s) from the cluster and apply the license and once license is applied, add to the cluster
again? Will there be any problem doing this?
    Your answers will help alot.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hello,
Evaluation Edition to Standard Edition is a supported scenario for an in-place upgrade. Please proceed with the in-place
upgrade since SQL Server setup supports the edition upgrade.
    The procedure is the following.

  • ACE License Problem

    Hi,
I've a problem with license install procedure on ACE. If I try to perform cisco procedure:
    LICENSE KEY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
After you have received the software license key for a new or upgraded license in an e-mail from Cisco Systems, you must copy the license file to a network server and then use the copy command in Exec mode to copy the file to disk0 on the ACE. The syntax for this command is:
    3-4
    copy tftp://server_name/path_filename disk0:
    The arguments are:
. server_name-Network server where you copied the license file.
. path_filename-URL location of the license file and the name of the file.
. disk0:-Flash disk in the ACE.
For example, to copy the ACE-VIRT-020.lic license file from the license directory on the track network server, enter:
    host1/Admin# copy tftp://track/license/ace-virt-020.lic disk0:
To install a new software license on your ACE or to update an existing license to increase the number of virtual contexts, use the license install command in Exec mode. The syntax of this command is:
    license install disk0:filename
    The arguments are:
. disk0:-Flash disk in the ACE.
. filename-Filename for the license file.
    For example, enter:
    host1/Admin# license install disk0:ACE-VIRT-020.lic
    I received this message:
Installing license... failed: License server does not support this feature
    Could somebody help me?
    Regards,
    Dino

    Hi Dino,
the first license that i received was a text file with ASCII DOS control codes but the ACE needs Unix/Linux style ASCII control codes.
If you have Linux machine around you should be able to use the programm dos2unix and convert it.
There are also Editors around which can save the file in DOS or UNIX flavor.
Anyhow if the license file is converted and you created an online lincse this should work.
Copy the file with tftp: to disk0: and use license install disk0:name.lic.
    Hope it helps.

  • Creative Suite Licensing: Downgrade Photoshop Version

We currently have a number of users that are licensed for and running Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard on the Mac. As you know, one of the applications that is included as part of that suite is Photoshop CS6. I am told by our designers that there are certain changes specific to Photoshop with version CS6 that simply do not work for them and they need to run Photoshop CS5. My question is does Adobe allow the downgrading of only that one application, Photoshop to version CS5 if the rest of the suite is at CS6? I am assuming we would not need to purchase an additional Photoshop license under that scenario, but I know Adobe can be funny with their licensing rules.
    Thanks!

Yes, that's true and it's also only possible for Volume licensing customers of the older traditional products... not for individual purchasers.
Fortunately now with Creative Cloud, Adobe is maintaining an archive of previous versions available for download and use...  The collection right now includes both CS6 and the 2013 CC releases.
These older versions are available to all members at any time, including CC for Individuals and Creative Cloud for Teams.
PS - Have no idea why your designer would prefer PS CS5 over CS6 though!  CS6 (and CC) are much nicer to use IMO.

  • Acrobat DC license downgrade

I just purchased an Acrobat DC license.  Every other machine that we have with Adobe has Acrobat XI.  I tried to install XI with the serial I got from DC but it did not work.  Is there a proper way to do this so that I do not have only one machine with a different version of Acrobat?

    You can't.
Acrobat licenses are application-specific. They don't give you any rights to install previous releases or different versions (DC vs XI, Pro vs Standard etc.) - and Adobe only sells the current version on the website. Some resellers are still offering Acrobat XI 'boxed' licenses, or you could subscribe to Creative Cloud - which does allow installation of either Acrobat DC or Acrobat XI.

  • Licensing requirement in VMs & downgrading WS2012 to WS2008

Need clarity on few licensing requirements that we have -
Background - We have purchased WS 2012 SE licenses for one of our client. Few of client applications are supported only on WS 2008 environment. As per our setup, we had planned for few VMs alongwith physical servers. So the architecture will now be having
fewer downgraded servers running on WS 2008 and rest on WS 2012 or ALL downgraded on WS 2008 - as per the licensing requirement and our best fit to them - based on our understanding on the following :
Query 1 - WS 2012 SE comes with support of upto 02 VMs. Can we use 02 VMs + 01 Physical server through the same license ? or do we need to go on for more licensing ?
Query 2 - If we downgrade to WS 2008 - how many VMs it will support with the same licensing ?
Query 3 - Can we keep WS 2012 server on our base physical machines and run VMs on downgraded WS 2008 ?

Q: If I want to use the software from an earlier Windows Server version or edition, what are my options?
A: If you have Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition you will have the right to downgrade software bits to any prior version or lower edition. If you have Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard edition, you will have the right to downgrade the software to use
any prior version of Enterprise, Standard or Essentials editions.
The ability to downgrade does not change the licensing or support terms in which you can use the product; the purchased product (Windows Server 2012 R2) rights apply. This means that the license will continue to cover two physical processors and the virtualization
rights do not change. In addition, the Client Access License (CAL) corresponding to the purchased version will apply, as an exception; if you are running a previous version of one of the eligible downgrades you can use the corresponding CAL version if one
    exists.

    Hi:
You can probably downgrade your Vista notebook to XP, but you don't have a license (downgrade rights) to do that from Microsoft.
Normally, only business notebooks and desktops were given downgrade rights to XP due to the risk of companies operations grinding to a halt because of software incompatiblities with some programs and Vista.
Personally, it would be better anyway to move on up to Windows 7.
Since your notebook came with Vista, it can run Windows 7. For any missing drivers you may have you can normally use the Vista drivers on your notebook's support and driver page.
Additionally, you may want to read through this dv2000 upgrade guide for Windows 7.

  • Ideas on adding licenses to a 8.X Communications Manager cluster before upgrade to v10.

Hi, hope is all well. This is something I started working with my global Cisco reseller but it takes sometime I wanted to make sure I see different options if possible to present. My company has deployments of collaboration products mainly on v8.x (all three main 8.0.2, 8.5.1 and 8.6.2) going to v10 during this year. Some already run on UCS but some are on MCS and will be late in migration. For those late, there are some growth need in end user/phone deployment but since v8 is end of sale, my provider may not be able to sell licenses.
If this is true, they might offer to buy v10 licenses with software subscription just like new deployment, which is not too bad at all since we will use this added amount on future v10 upgrade, but has anyone ever did that? I am afraid we use v10 PAK (if possible) to generate v8 license file, will render it not upgradable later. Reasoning is, let's say there is 1000 licenses on v8 with UCSS and we buy 15 v10 licenses downgraded to v8. Once we processo v8 to v10 upgrade on PUT, Cisco might see only 1000 original v8 liceses to provide upgrade instead of 1015.
Does it make sense or am I missing something here? Thank you very much for any suggestions.

I was also unsure about how many CALs I would need to purchase, they have 10 workstations on premises which need to access the server plus 16 Android tablets which will be accessing it via IIS. Does that mean 10 CALs or 26?

  • Regex limits on ACE

    Hello!
We are moving from CSS to ACE and I'm concerned about the number of regular expression rules we will have to implement.
I've read that using double wildcard expressions (.*) in too many class-maps can cause memory problems for the entire ACE.  For example .*website.*
If I consolidate my regular expression rules into something like the following:
    (www\.)*website(1|2)*\.(mobi|net|org).*
should I still be concerned about using too much memory?  Does a statement like (www)* constitue a wildcard expression?
We have more than 100 domains that we need rules like this for.

    Hi Jeremy,
I ran into an issue someday where I had exhausted all of the regexp memory in my ACE from using too many wildcards in my URL matching. The symptoms were class-maps not matching regex despite being the correct syntax.
I opened a ticket with Cisco, but they could not reproduce the issue in their labs.
We were stumped until the engineer examined my “show tech-support” output and saw that the regexp memory usage was very high (i.e. maxed out!):

Wow, that looks ugly in HTML.
Anyway, the line you’re interested in is the regexp line with 915387 bytes currently used, 1047557 bytes used at peak, 1048576 bytes max, and 63 denied requests to access the regexp memory.
Note that the regexp memory usage was consuming 900+ KB of the 1MB for regexp.
Also note the denies in the right-hand column.
I knew something was up because when I added my regex class-maps, my policy-map said that Regex dnld status: FAILED.
    ACE/Staging# sh service-policy int530 class-map Secure-Stage-Map

    Parameter-map(s):
    HTTP_MAP
The Cisco TAC engineer said that they recommend no more than 10 double wildcard regex statements per ACE.
A double wildcard regex is one where you have a wildcard (.*) before and after a string:
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any Website-Class
    5 match http url .*Website.*
I had probably 20-something of those.
For whatever reason, double wildcard statements use MUCH more memory than other single wildcard statements.
So I locked my regex down to use only one wildcard per match:
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any Website-Class
    5 match http url /Website/.*
Once I removed the double wildcards, the memory usage stayed roughly the same.
Hhmm… Another call to my Cisco TAC engineer reveals that if the memory is not immediately freed, I need to remove the class-maps and policy-maps using the regex.
Basically, when I created the VIP class-map and then created the regex class-map to be tied to the policy-map, the VIP requested the regexp memory for the regex class-map. So in order to free that memory, I had to remove the VIP class-maps.
Actually, I had to remove the VIP class-maps, regex class-maps, AND relevant policy-maps.
Good thing I had a backup to paste it all in once I typed “no class-map” a couple hundred times.
About a minute after removing and then re-adding the class-maps, the regexp memory usage was at a much more desirable level:
    ACE/Staging# show resource usage

    syslog buffer 0 0 0 4194304 0
    syslog rate 0 59 0 100000 0
Note that the regexp line is now consuming only 2198 bytes of the 1MB of regexp memory. Success!
Sure enough, once I checked to make sure my regex was matching URLs in my class-maps, it was working like a champ.
Would’ve rather spent the day implementing more ACE config than finding this problem, but meh.
Hope you get your answer in this scenario.
And when I am seeing your examle you are using triple wildcard expression.
    (www\.)*website(1|2)*\.(mobi|net|org).*
I don't know how much memory it would use to process your triple wildcard regular expressions , but all the time always with your configuration you can estimate how much memory is getting consumed by your regular expressions , using the above mentioned resource usage commands and then modify your regular expressions accordingly so as to best otimized usage of your memory for inculcating more regular expressions using wildcards but probably no more then 10 double wildcard regular expresion or take consultation from your Cisco TAC engineer according to the model of your ace device/card.
Also remember that header-map  also consumes regexp.
As I said the limit is 10 regular expression.
    Each header-map consume 1 regexp.
Each sticky cookie consume also 1 regexp.
So, check your whole configuration for counting the total number of regular expression this way may be if you have hit the limit.
For that sake try to combine header-maps.
    In regard to ACE,
You can allocate all resources or individual resources to all member contexts of a resource class. For example, you can allocate only concurrent connections or sticky table memory or management traffic. To allocate system resources to all members (contexts) of a resource class, use the limit-resource command in resource-class configuration mode.
The syntax of this command is as follows:
    limit-resource {acl-memory | all | buffer {syslog} | conc-connections | mgmt-connections | proxy-connections | rate {bandwidth | connections | inspect-conn | mac-miss | mgmt-traffic | ssl-bandwidth | syslog} | regexp | sticky | xlates} {minimum number} {maximum {equal-to-min | unlimited}}
Note:      The limit that you set for individual resources when you use the limit-resource command overrides the limit that you set for all resources when you use the limit-resource all command.
If you lower the limits for one context (context A) in order to increase the limits of another context (context B), you may experience a delay in the configuration change because the ACE will not lower the limits of context A until the resources are no longer being used by the context.
Following is the limit for 4 GBps bandwidth ACE device
Regular Expression Memory     1,048,576 bytes( approx 1MB)
You can upgrade the ACE maximum bandwidth to 8 Gbps or 16 Gbps by purchasing a separate license from Cisco.

  • Downgrade Rights Of Windows Server

Can I downgrade from Windows server 2012 to Windows 2008 , I got an update from the customer representative that I can do it, but they told me to check for the downgrade rights. I just want to know that how can I check that whether I have downgrade rights
or not and I also want to know how can I downgrade .

    Hi,
Customers who have licensed software through a Microsoft Volume Licensing program are eligible to use prior versions of the software edition that they have licensed. This is known as a downgrade right.
If you have legally obtained physical media (CD/DVD) of older licensed Microsoft products that your organization is currently licensed to use through downgrade rights, you can use these prior software versions at your discretion.
With the release of new product versions, previously available products are removed from the VLSC as they become N-2 versions. Support for physical media purchases of these N-2 products through Microsoft also ends at that time.
If your organization continues to require access to specific prior version products, we recommend that you first contact your Microsoft reseller to determine whether they still have media inventory. If you received past shipments of physical Volume Licensing
media (comprehensive or subscription kits) or purchased physical CD/DVD media, you can continue to use these discs to install prior versions of products that are no longer available from the VLSC.
for oem licenses, Downgrade rights are documented in the Microsoft Software License Terms that
customers accept upon first running Windows and Windows Server software. Thanks
to downgrade rights, end users who have acquired a later version of the software (such as Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard) can use an earlier version of the software (such as Windows Server 2008
R2 Standard) until they are ready to migrate to a later version Technology.
To downgrade Windows Server software customers must:
Purchase a Server system licensed with Windows Server software.
Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
Perform the downgrade or down-edition process to the eligible
downgrade/down-edition product using the media/key from a genuine, previously
licensed OEM, retail or Volume Licensing Server product.
    thanks

  • Windows Server Datacenter 2012

    Dear Team,
We are using VM esxi 5.5 and we have bought volume License from microsoft for Datacentre 2012 R2. My concern is "how many 2012 data centre system I can create on VM with this License".
Can I install 2012 enterprise /Standard or other version with this volume License.
