ACE Probe Failure Error Messages
Hi,
I'm looking for the difference between the below error messages for a probe failure:
Server open timeout (no SYN ACK)
Server reply timeout (no reply)
I guess what I do not understand is if the ACE sends a TCP probe - he sends a syn and expects a syn ack back. If no syn ack back then there's no reply right? Any feed back on these errors would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob,
By default, when the ACE sends a probe, it expects a response within a time period of 10 seconds. For example, for an HTTP probe, the timeout period is the number of seconds to receive an HTTP reply for a GET or HEAD request. If the server fails to respond to the probe, the ACE marks the server as failed.
Here is where the "Server reply timeout (no reply)" comes into play, and it is due to the server not replaying back to the ACE once the content request was made (sequence: SYN,SYN/ACK,ACK,GETorHEAD,..........no reply), this is the difference between Server open timeout (no SYN ACK).
Server open timeout (no SYN ACK), here the ACE is just opening the connection and doing the TCP synchronization.
In the logic you explain, yes, we could say that if there is no SYN/ACK, there is no reply from the server. But, in ACE language, if there is no SYN/ACK, well we have an error to know that the problem is during the 3-way-handshake, reason could be that the port is not open in the server or in the firewall if we have one in between, etc..., and if there is a reply timeout, this is to know, that the issue might be related with the server having trouble replying back to the ACE, and possible reasons could be that the server is overloaded and unable to reply within the 10 seconds, there is a lot of congestion in the network, etc.....
So as you can see, this help to differentiate the possible troubleshooting that we might need to apply depending on the error message.

Hello, I am getting a Kern Protection failure error message when trying to start up my Olympus DSS Player dictation software. I have been using the software without issue for years until last month. Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 - every time I click on a link in Outlook, it causes a "General Failure" error message that says, "The URL was:" ... "The system cannot find the fix specified."
However the site opens fine in Firefox.I have same problem and found article below that worked but then i ended up having to do system restore because outlook stopped sending emails after i synced new iPhone while at Apple store that caused problem!!!

False heartbeat failure error messages
Hello Everyone,
I am receiving false heartbeat failure error messages from all the agents in our environment.All servers are reachable and online at that time. The alerts get auto closed after 2-3 mins without any troubleshooting.
Can you please let me know how can i stop these alerts? We have configured alert emails so support team get notified of these alerts and they think something is wrong with the servers. We have two management servers and 70 agents in our environment.Since you are receiving false heartbeat alerts for all the agents in your SCOM. There could either be a network problem on the MS servers or the agents. Check the event viewer for any network related errors or if their SCOM Health service keeps restarting
every few minutes. Check out for other errors too on the agents that might point to the cause of these alerts.
Alternatively you can increase the Heartbeat interval (default is 60 seconds) and/or the number of missed heartbeats (default is 3). If the issues get auto resolved then increasing these values to appropriate seconds and counts will not cause false
alerts for you.

The documen t was originally created with Word (*.doc) then printed to PDF format; now I need to convert back to Work, but I get the "Conversion Failure" error message, both on conversion back to *.Doc format and attempt to convert to *.docx format.Hi lfordlaw,
How large is the PDF that you're trying to convert? How did you generate the PDF from Word (did you use Acrobat, or Word's built-in PDF generator)? What version of Word are you using?
The answers to those questions should help us get to the bottom of things.
In the meantime, please try the following:
Clear the browser cache and log back in to https://cloud.acrobat.com.
Try a different web browser (see System Requirements | Adobe Acrobat Pro and Online Services for a list of supported browsers).
Try to convert a different file (if you can convert another file without error, the one you're receiving the error on may be damaged).

I send email notifications on insatnce failure of Scheduled reports by configuring notification option in CMC.
I would like to send the Error message for insatnce failure in the message content.
Is there any way to achieve this ?Any dynamic system variable like %SI_STARTTIME% available for this ?
I am looking for error message as we see when click status in Instance History of a report.

It is not possible at present with the product as it stands out of the XI3.1 or BI4.0 to email the error message with the schedule email notification.
I would suggest that you log this requirement in the SAP Ideas Place:
Idea Place (https://ideas.sap.com) allows customers to log Enhancement request themselves without the need to contact Support and work more closely with Product Management.
Here your idea can be evaluated by other customers and voted upon, prior to our Product Group organization deciding on the idea as a possible enhancement.

Ace probe failure after IIS app pool recycle?

I suspect this is caused by an IIS6 setting, but posting here in case anyone has seen this. For this one particular site, we have 4 servers in the farm. 2 of those servers are fine. The other 2 (new) servers will generate probe failure after the site's app pool recycles. I then remove the 2 servers from service and re-activate (no inservice, then inservice) and the probe comes back as operational. It appears that the app pool recycle somehow is resetting the hash on the default page, though I'm not sure how. Any ideas are very much appreciated.Yeah, the hash is inside the probe. Here's the config for the serverfarm and the probe. Public-007 and Public-008 are new servers...the other 6 have been in the farm for the last 2.5 years and they don't have this issue. It's only the 2 new boxes that the probe fails when the app pool is recycled.

Video/Audio Lock Failure Error Message
Every time I try to watch a show or a movie On Demand the screen goes black. Then a few moments later I receive an error message stating: " Video/Audio Lock Failure." Does anybody know how to fix this?
I just upgraded to FCEHD 3.0 from FCE 1.01. I was in the middle of capturing clips on a large project when I made the move (today). I got this same message and just found this answer -- thank you very much.
Should I go back and recapture all the clips that I did in FCE? I did not get the error message, but I have no idea what the settings were, either.
BTW: I am using a Sony PDX-10. Why would a professional camera be set up in 32K audio? -

having to turn the printer off and on again to no avail.
What's the definition of insanity? something about doing the same thing
over and over again and expecting a different result? yes, I'm reaching
that point.
I have: turned the printer off and on repeatedly. I have recirced it
(unplug, wait, replug, turn on, repeat/repeat...)
I have removed all of the ink cartridges, I have removed the printhead...
None of these are ameliorating the problem. The printer was working fine
until I replaced a cartridge. This ALWAYS happens when I install
fresh ink. But after 20 times of turning it off/on again it usually kicks in and
decides to print.
Not this time. It is not budging. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I can't even get it to clean
the printhead for this roadblock.

Import failure - error message 1231
I have successfully imported a number of mp4 files (in folders with other source material from Sony XDCAMEX - PMWEX3). One of the files was mistakenly deleted from the project window.I have unsuccessfully tried to reimport it several times but an error message is displayed: (Drusilla/pro/3.2.0/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../Src/Mac/MacFile.cpp-1231).
On another - (may be not connected) -occasion I got error message (Drusilla/pro/3.2.0/Libraries/UIFramework/Make/Mac/../../Src/TimeBarControl.cpp-1231).
Any ideas, please?Please provide

Installation failure error message, but restarts in Leopard anyway
I finally cleared enough hard drive space to install Leopard, only to have installation fail several times during disc verification. The DVD was spotless, but I cleaned it anyway and tried again a few times with the same result. Tech library article 106693 suggested my 3rd party RAM upgrade may be at fault, so removed it and tried again. Disc verification completed, and installation continued for several hours before I got another error message (related to a corrupted Epson printer driver). I restarted so I could put the PowerBook to sleep, and it booted in 10.5 and brought up the setup assistant. So how do I know if I have a complete and stable installation?
One thing you could try if you can - burn a duplicate of the installer disc. You will need a dual-layer blank disc and your Mac will need to have a dual-layer SuperDrive. Although getting a replacement is still a good idea.

1. Insert the DVD/CD;
2. Open Disk Utility, and select the DVD/CD from the left side list (select the DVD/CD icon on top);
3. from the DU File menu select New | Disk Image from Disk 1;
4. Choose to format the disk image as DVD/CD Master, name the disk image and click Save;
5. When the .cdr file is finished select it with mouse and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info and check the box to lock the file;
6. Choose the .cdr file from the left side list, click Burn, and insert a new, blank DVD or CD. -

I went through the below who has the same issue and solved it by increasing the work process of the IDOC's. Can anybody explain how to increase the work process of the Idocs and also the reason for the failure.

Scanner failure error message when trying to make a copy
I have a continual scanner failure message on m y 750 xi when I try to make a copy. Unit prints OK from my computer, but refuses to just make a simple copy. I have tried shutting of and resetting and unplugging and all that stuff many times. The light on the scanner does come on. Thanks.
I too am having this problem and have had, for about a week now.
I've found that by logging off itunes (if I can), closing it down, and then restarting it, sometimes allows it to work for one transaction (say downloading an updated app). After that it's back to the same error.

Mixer levels revert to prior setting when I play track
