ACE study: what to read?

Hi All,
Having been a pretty hard-core InDesign user for 10 years, I want to take my ACE InDesign exam fairly quickly.
Are the Adobe Classroom in a Book series any good? I have always used the Visual Quickstart Guides which I have found to be comprehensive.
I reckon I'm 60-70% there so just need a good reference book for a fairly advanced user.
Also, on the ACE subject, should I do CS4 first (used that since launch) or study more and go for CS5 (not used at all)?
Any tips gratefully received!

Yeah, what Steve said, plus other material and practice.
I did the exam recently and hadn't used CS5, or even CS4 much, so had a big job to learn from my base of mostly CS3.
The IDS guide was a great resource and excellent value, but some sections just refer you to the program or online help – so it's not all you need. I found the online adobe help to be just as useful – read up on all the areas you don't know much about and pay particular attention to the tips and notes. Often there is a page of info on how to use a tool, then one line on when it won't work or other cautions – and you can bet that they'll be testing the obscure facts!
Keep trawling around the forums here looking at problem fixes and also the InDesignSecrets site.
I don't think the VQS book would help you much – it's a great book to learn the program, but probably not so useful for an Adobe Uncertified Expert

Leopard required a Wireless Mouse software update. See if Software Update offers this.

As an Administrator, how do I see what a Reader sees? For example, I am developing a SharePoint 2010 list. My users will have read rights only. How do I see the page from their view.

Create a new user account that only has the level of access that the target user has. SharePoint does not have a "view as" or "view as permission level" function.

Some times my mac slows without lot of cpu load but I can hear my internal disk working a lot...
I try to discover what process is using my disk but on activity monitor I am not able to see nothing... I've tried atmonitor but nothing... on istatmenu you can see global disk activity (high) but not by process ...
Is there a way to see on activity monitor or 3rd party monitor I\O activity like on MSwindows or Linux?

*OS X* has support for DTrace. There are a few shell scripts available such as iofileb and iotop, and for a GUI application, there is Instruments if you have the *Developer Tools* installed.

Cisco CSS and ACE study guide

Hi,
Im ready to kick start Cisco CSS and ACE load balancers. I found that 642-972 DCASD and 642-975 DCASI are the relevant exams for that. But, they are expired now. And, I couldn't even find the old materials for those. Could you please anyone assist me in getting started with this?

Thanks for your reply. BTW, wasn't there any specific study guides for 642-972 DCASD and 642-975 DCASI from Cisco? The reason behind this question is, I want to go step by step starting from how load balancing works, the basics and terminologies of load balancing and its various options and operations etc. I have been working with Network Security and just stepping in to DC operations.

Don't believe what you read... there's no error.

The only error I've found w/ iWeb is it SAYING there's an error...
If you publish your site and get the dreaded error massage just leave iWeb open and sync your iDisk completely then close iWeb and sync your iDisk one more time, just to make sure.
Make sure you empty your Browser cache files and I clear my History too, then look at your site.
Even though I get the error message my site is still updated as long as my iDisk is synced-up. In fact I did a little remodel on some of my pages at http://www.iWebTricks.com last night and ALL the changes went through despite the "fake" error message.
It's true the next time you Publish it creates the "red" pages over but it doesn't seem to upload those pages given that when looking at the files that are synced to the iDisk it appears as though only changes since the last time you Published (error or no-error) are synced.
I'm happy enough that I can at least get my site updated for the time being until Apple gets this fixed but the main thing is getting your site out there which still can be done w/ iWeb although somewhat troublesome. But then again manually inserting HTML onto every page after every Publish isn't a walk in the park either...

I've tried this advice and the advice on your website, but I STILL can't get the website to publish!
Now on iWeb the icons are blue, which should show mean it has published, but I've checked the website on Safari both using the 'visit site' button and entering the url (I'd cleared the cache and the history), as well as checking it from Netscape on this computer and from IE on another computer.
Am at end of my tether, as have paid for .mac membership but am not getting what I want from it.
I've tried publishing at various times of day but no luck.... I've not been able to publish anything at all on the website yet, have got 1.1.1 and all the work on the website has been done on 1.1.1.
Any help would be much appreciated!

What PDF reader for IPAD recognizes hyperlinks to be able to jump within a document and internet ?

I have created a WORD document using WORD 2007 and converted it to PDF. The document has hyperlinks and clickable bookmars but the regular IPAD PDF readers do not recgnize the links. Does anyone know what application for an IPAD would make the PDF links function?

How were the hyperlinks inserted in Word? I think the PDF output is different if you use the Insert Hyperlink function, or just type the plain URL.

What external read / write DVD drive is best for imac

I have just bought a 27" iMac computer that is not fitted with a DVD read write external drive. Any advice on what I should buy?

There is no "best for Mac." "Different folks for different folks." It's all about your personal preference. Whichever one you decide to purchase, make sure you read all of the reviews.
I personally use a LaCie external burner drive.

What does "reading xmp..." actually mean?

I know this may seem like a silly question, but i cannot find the answer to it anywhere. Some projects take ages to get past this stage, others don't. What is media encoder doing whilst displaying "Reading XMP..."? One project in particular stays on that for a very long time (it hasn't yet got past it and it's been ten minutes!) - it is a 3 hour long timeline with DSLR footage etc, but right now i am only trying to render out the first 2 minutes of it as a test. Do XMP files become corrupt, could this be why it sometimes gets stuck on reading xmp for a long time?
I am running a custombuilt macpro (it works perfectly fine!!) with an i7 3.9GHz CPU, 16gb ram and a geforce gtx560ti gfx card on Lion 10.7.5, I have no plans to upgrade to Mountain Lion as I already tried and it slowed my system down to the pace of a snail.

AME can show that and get stuck there when the Importer (the plugin that decodes the footage or does the dynamic link back to a sequence) get's confused.
There is a bug in CS6 that crashes after that "Reading XMP" is displayed. It suggests that it's the XMP read that died but sometimes it's the next bit that didn't update the status.
There are also other times that the .xmp sidecar file is corrupted. If you do have an xmp sidecar file delete it and the Importer will re-generate it.
Having said all that.....
When Premiere/AME/AfterFX etc open a file they need to gather basic information about that file like length, framerate, width, height, pixel aspect ratio.
With some file formats that's not easily gathered from a header at the front of the file.
So, it has to scan the entire file to work out that information.
"Reading XMP" is reading any metadata (like exposure, apature f/T-stop, ISO, etc) but it's also the above indexing.
So, if you have a video format, expecially h.264, which is lacking in the basic information it has to decode the entire movie to work it out. That takes time.
Fortunately after the first time it's done this it'll put a .xmp/.xmpses/.index file next to it so that it doesn't need to do it again.

i updated my phone and then i have to activate it but in ¡tunes says that i dont have a sim card and my phone says it has no service, so i cant activate my phone. i have tryed shuting it off, taking off and putting in the sim card; the sim card is perfect because i already try it in another phone, and it works, i have put another sim card and the phone does not read it, i dont know what to do anymore... can someone help me? does someone has expirience this before?

There are 2 major DVD formats, and 6 within those. DVD+ and DVD-. The DVD+ standard has advantages when it comes to video recording on TV DVD recorders. They can start recording faster, so it's much easier to put the disc in and hit record to write your favorite show to disc immediately. For PC data, there is very little difference between DVD+ and DVD-. DVD+ will most likely win the format 'war'.
DVD- is the DVD-forum approved standard, and it uses the regular DVD logo with Recordable and Rewritable. It's basically the same technology as CD-R and CD-RW.
Those are the two main formats, but there are several discs within those:
DVD+R - Write-once media conforming to the DVD+ standard. 4.7Gb, up to 16X speed.
DVD-R - Write-once media conforming to the DVD- standard. 4.7Gb, up to 8X speed.
DVD+RW - Rewriteable media from the DVD+ standard. 4.7Gb, up to 4X speed.
DVD-RW - Rewriteable media from the DVD- standard. 4.7Gb, up to 2.4X speed.
DVD+R DL - Dual-layer write-once media from the DVD+ standdard. 8.5Gb, up to 2.4X speed.
DVD-RAM - ReWriteable media from a subset of the DVD- standard. NOT common, and very expensive, but EXCELLENT for use as a large floppy disk drive. Only a few consumer drives write to DVD-RAM discs, mainly those made by LG.
If you want to record movies, you should be aware that DVD+R media is less compatible with TV DVD-players (especially older ones). Also, some PC DVD-ROM drives won't read DVD+R discs.

Address , Phone and Email gets pick up automatically as soons as you sellect Partner ID! As per my knowledge that is achieved by :

Then you need some DataOperations in the event handler which starts the ListModification.
Place them before the Start operation
They should assign the PartyID related attributes (one by one) to the resp. fields in the ListModificationStructure.

Eric’s reply of “very soon” was in response to my guesstimate comment, yesterday, of late-Dec for the LR 5.3 release with a release-candidate prior, based on the historical schedule of 3+ months between LR releases and LR 5.2 came out Sept 17th.
The obvious link is that LR and ACR are updated about the same time to keep LR and PS-ACR fully compatible.
I wonder if there will be multiple RCs per version, now, to get cameras added quicker, or if the many-small-updates-for-CC mentality has taken hold so there will be smaller, more frequent updates than 4 times per year.
