Acer Aspire E5-473-35TX or Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-571G-73ZJ ?

Hi! I'm planning to buy a new laptop, i already browse some online store and found thishttp://www.lazada.com.ph/acer-aspire-switch-10-e-sw3-013-10w8-64gb-intel-101-2-in-1-touchscreen-laptop-shark-gray-534535.html

Boy, those are two very different machines! The first one is very handy if you are carrying the laptop with you most of the time, especially if you are switching between carrying it, using it as a laptop and using it as a tablet fairly often. The detriment is that the screen is small, only 10 inch. The second one is a lot more powerful and larger, but it will be more of a hassle to carry (you will want a backpack or briefcase). It's better suited if you are traveling between locations and want to set it up for extended use at each destination. You are going to be less likely to want to pull it out for ten minutes of quick web surfing.

If you are having wireless issues I would suggest calling Acer Technical Support and see about having the unit brought in for service for testing to make sure there isn't a hardware issue. Here is the contact number for France, since someone posted they were having issues in France.

Hello,I would like to buy the Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (VN7-591G-51CY) with Intel I5, nVidia GTX860M and 8GB RAM. But as I read, some people have problems with WiFi connection. I mean they are being disconnected or the speed is extremely low. Does anyone here have the same problems? Does exist an option, how  to fix this issue? What are your other experiences with this notebook? I am now not sure, if buying this notebook is a right decision, because of this issue (I use WiFi at home, we have many devices using WiFi...).
Thank you,Fraosius (I am sorry, if I made some English mistakes, I am from Czech Republic )

  • Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Number Lock

I know this has been asked before but the answers given have not worked.1.  Edit the registery.2.  Disable fast startup.I have an Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black (VN7-791G) with Windows 8.1.  I want Num Lock on always.  When I boot the machine in the morning it is off.  When I wake the machine after a period of inactivity it is off.  I have edited the registry under the keyboard settings per other replys in these forums with no change.  I have disabled fast startup per replys in these forums again with no change.  I contacted Microsux because I think it is a windows issue but they said to contact Acer.  Acer chat is of no use they want you to pay them to modify the registry.  So here I and I believe others are stuck with a machine that does its own thing.

I'm having the same issue. Changing the registry values fixes the num-lock status at startup, but makes no difference when the computer goes to sleep. As soon as it goes to sleep, num lock is turned off. Microsoft support says "Check with your System/Mortherboard Maker's Support, their on-line documentation, and ask
    in their forums.
Some makers will have settings in the BIOS, others will provide utilities to do it, and others may
have methods in place which prevent doing it in Windows." Is there any such utility/setting that can fix this issue? It is my only complaint about this laptop.

  • New Acer Aspire v17 Black Edition GTX 960m Overheating Problems?

I just bought and received Acer Aspire v17 Black Edition and started playing some games on it.I always check the bottom of the laptop once in a while with my hand to make sure it isn't overheating. When I checked after some gaming today, the surface was extremely hot so I downloaded the Core Temp software to check what the exact temperatures were. I found out that the temperature of all 4 cores ranged from 85 Degrees to 95 degrees celsius when gaming. I've done some research online and was informed that temperature at this range have the risk of causing internal damage. CoolBoost is on, Active cooling is on. Core Temp might be displaying the wrong temperature anways. Is this normal or abnormal?

I have to agree with Pocopony22.  I think the main issue in cooling effectiveness here is the form factor of the case.  Being so thin I imagine there isn't much space to allow cooler ambient air to convey the heat out of the system.  Although I often wonder why manufacturers don't utilize some dynamics like air multiplication and a "jet" engine effect to use the thinness to create a more forceful air flow... I'm sure there is some reason I am not thinking of since I do not design notebooks for a living. LOL.  Anyhow based the data sheets for the 4720hq, the safe max operating temp is 100C and while the 960M is not listed in data sheets I suspect it could handle 90/95C safely.  While I personally do not condone such temperatures nor would I settle for those, in theory the processors are safe, the only thing I question is the boards and other components near these since everything is so tight.   In the end would I run my CPU at 100C for 4 or 5 hours?  No way, I would do like blackice55, throttle the CPU myself (since that way I can adjust my efforts based on a controlled throttling, rather than having to adjust on the fly if the CPU throttles on it's own) and keep the temps down a bit. Follow these simple guidelines to extend the longevity of your device: Play in area with cool ambient temps, not outside on a summer day.Use a cooler unit. Find one with fans that you can adjust the airflow (if you use your cooler on more than one device) or buy with an appropriate air flow direction based on the system cooling flow.Utilize CPU throttling in a controlled manner.Give your computer a rest once every few hours.  Let the CPU idle and cool before shutting off.  It doesn't take long with the fans running, but can remain hot significantly longer if shut down immediately.BUY ADH warranty.  Spend a few hundred bucks now so you don't have to spend another 1-2k later...Device dies from not following 1-5, always have a contingency plan. Regards,-Eli Note: Edited safe temp for GTX-960M since it's temps are not listed in the data sheets.

  • Aspire VN7 571G 55ZA Intel Graphics driver

    Hello!
I upgraded my VN7 571G 55ZA to Windows 10 yesterday and since my notebook only had Windows 8.1 Home I got the Windows 10 Home Edition aswell. That edition forces updates from Windows Update and so it does for the integrated Intel Graphics 4400 from the Intel Core i5 4210U. The problem is with the manufacturer drivers from Intel my Notebook is not able to display real 1920x1080 resolution anymore altough it is shown everywhere as 1920x1080 also the some windows are really blurry. I already tried installing manufacturer drivers from Intel under Windows 8.1 and it did the exact same thing so I had to switch back to the OEM drivers from Acer.
So under Windows 10 I got version 10.18.15.4256 force installed. When I tried installing the version 10.18.15.4256 (after trying to uninstall the drivers on it of course) I got the error message "The system does not meet the requirements for the software.". The problem also is you cannot really make a good install with a restart after you delete the drivers on it because as soon as you restart the computer Windows 10 would just install the driver again while you are still on the login screen! Now I have seen how often acer updated the drivers for my notebook and I was asking myself if we will get another driver update in the near future that is probably an up to date version of the Intel Graphics driver like version 15.x.x.x? Or is there an obvious reason that I do not see why we still get the 10.x.x.x versions of their drivers? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this will help as we have different computers. When I upgraded to Windows 10 like you did......I just let Windows do it's thing.  After it was done, I went to Acer downloads and installed the chipset driver.  After I installed the chipset driver and it rebooted, I installed the intel ME (management engine) driver.  I never manually installed the intel HD4400/4600 graphics driver.  I just used what windows gave me in the upgrade process. The intel graphics driver that windows upgrade automatically gave me is actually newer than what's on intel's website.....so I just stuck with it.

  • Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro VN7-571G-58T0 issues

I bought the laptop in May 2015, and I'm facing the following problems: 1. Wifi doesn't work properly:I have tried updating the driver of the Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 WiFi card, but it has made no difference. Acer issued a patch to supposedly rectify the problem, but it definitely didn't work. Connections keep dropping, and it refuses to reconnect automatically. The range is poor, while other devices such as phones work perfectly from the same spot. It defeats the point of having a sticker advertising "Up To 2X Faster Wireless" on the laptop.  2. Wifi doesn't work after switching on and off 'Airplane mode'I'm not sure if it's a Windows error or the WiFi card's problem, but the only solution I found was to restart the laptop each time. Any alternate suggestions are welcome. 3. Trackpad response is terribleThe first half second of any swipe is not registered. Thus, I unnecessarily have to move my finger for a bit before the touch pad starts responding. Two finger scrolling is frustratingly difficult to achieve. I find myself dragging my fingers almost halfway across the trackpad before the touch is registered. Is there a driver update that will solve this issue? 4. Speakers jarIf I'm playing a punchy, bass heavy track at above 65% volume, the speakers jar. This is with the Dolby settings on. I play the same file on another device with Harman Kardon speakers, and it's way more pleasing to  listen to. 5. Num-Lock is 'Off' after every sleep sessionNum-Lock is switched off by default, and the laptop refuses to retain the last applied setting after every sleep session. Is there a way to rectify this? 6. Keyboard-backlight setting is 'On' after every sleep sessionJust like the Num-Lock, the keyboard light kicks in after every sleep session and does not retain the last applied setting. There is also substantial gap under the keys, so at most angles, the light bleeds, making it harder to see the alphabets on the keys. More than anything, it's the wifi performance that has really let me down. Laptops half as expensive perform flawlessly, and it really pisses me off that all the painfull research and keeping an eye out for discounts finally resulted in this - an unreliable laptop. Half the issues mentioned here shouldn't be existing in this day and age. If any solutions are available to the problems listed above, please keep me posted.

    vn7571g_user,
Sorry to hear that you are not having the best possible experience with your new notebook. I'd like to try and address a few of your concerns that you have listed and see if there are some things we can resolve for you.
    1. Wifi doesn't work properly:
I see that you have posted in a couple other threads (1st, 2nd) regarding wireless issues with this notebook. We can gladly check this unit at the repair depot for you if you are not keen on changing the card out, PM me the following information and I will see what I can do for you:
    SNID or serial number
    Contact name
    Contact number
    Email address
    Shipping address
    Purchase date
    2. Wifi doesn't work after switching on and off 'Airplane mode'
If you have already tried to install/update the drivers, it could be a Windows issue. You can attempt a refresh to see if that helps resolve it.
    3. Trackpad response is terrible
This notebook uses a precision touchpad possibly, but since it uses Synaptics drivers you have a couple options:
You can change the way that the touchpad works.
It says Windows 7, but you can see if you have this option in the touchpad settings and see if it helps you out.
    4. Speakers jar
Do you have the same issue without the Dolby turned on?
    5. Num-Lock is 'Off' after every sleep session
Here is a Microsoft article that discusses this feature. You can follow the steps that they list if you would like.
    6. Keyboard-backlight setting is 'On' after every sleep session
The backlit keyboard is working as designed. Here is an article with some FAQ about the backlit keyboard to help customers understand its functionality a bit more.
    A couple final thoughts:
Did the issue(s) you are having occur before or after Windows updates, sometime a bad installation of an update can cause all sorts of things to happen.
Worst case, you can always try to restore to factory defaults and test all these things before applying updates or installing any applications or programs.

  • Acer Aspire Nitro V15 Black Edition poor wireless internet

I have the same problem, though my wifi adapter is not an Intel but Qualcom. I turned off bluetooth but no change... Connection is frequently dropping and getting slow at times. This occurance is much more notecable when I'm 5-10 meters away from the access point. None of the laptops that I had in the past have had this issue (HPs and Dells). I expected things to get better in this price range (1500 e)...

I have 3 Nitro V15 Black laptops.  One came with Intel WiFi card and the other two came with Qualcomm card.  With Qualcomm there is no setting I talked about.  It was only for Intel card.  In this case, just apply the patch provided by Acer.  And the following is from a Acer Technician and the ACER Website. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35050#_ga=1.174755426.1189951982.1426805455: Why is my wireless signal strength low after changing power settings?Wireless signal strength may decrease when Windows Power Options are set to High Performance. • Aspire E 15 ES1-511 series screen has gone black with no cursor

Ever since I upgraded to windows 10 I've been having major issues with my screen brightness being too bright with the brightness controls inverted and my laptop not being able to restart properly always getting stuck at the acer bootup screen with the loading loop frozen(seen as two vertical dots). In response to these issues I chose to reset by removing all items and not choosing the factory default option. However when the reset was done and I was setting up my laptop, I accidently closed the lid during critical updates. After setup my laptop was working normally and I wanted to check for more updates. There was a new update and I assumed this would be more fixes so I had to restart my acer. My acer once again got frozen at bootup only this time when I boot it up multiple times I was introduced with the troubleshoot menu. I decided to reset my acer once again. A while later, I saw the screen at 99%. Later I saw that my laptop was starting to bootup, but then it got frozen at the acer logo with the two vertical dots. I shut it down and now my laptop has a black screen without a cursor. I've attempted alt f10, f2/f10, and pressing the pinhole button on the bottom of my acer. The screen is still black. I've not yet attempted to just keep my laptop on for a long while. I am staunch with the fact that the windows 10 update is the cause of all this. Please let me know if there are any other solutions.

ES1-551I had the issue too after the windows 10 upgrade. While plugged into the charger the screen would boot to black and nothing worked to restart the boot process. However it I un-plugged from the charger it would boot fine. While unplugged if I plugged in the charger the screen would go black again. This worked for me; while plugged into the charger I pressed the start button and held down the F12 key. I continued to hold the F12 key until the screen became gray. I released the F12 key and waited. The Window logon screen came on and all functionality returned. Good luck.

  • Which of these 2 laptops would be my best choice for editing video?

I am going to get a new laptop mainly to use for LR and PS but I also want to be able to edit video.  Which of these 2 laptops is my best option...
    ASUS ROG G751JT-CH71
    Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz
    16 GB DDR3
1000 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
    17.3-Inch Screen, Nvidia GTX970M 3GB GDDR5
    Windows 8.1
    Or
Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G-730V
Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor (2.6 GHz)
    16 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive, 256 GB Solid-State Drive
17.3-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
    Windows 8.1, 4-hour battery life
Additionally, if you feel there is a better choice for $1500 or less, I would love to hear that advice as well.  I would really appreciate your help in making this decision.  Thanks!

Of the 2 the Asus everyday. You won't notice the difference in the CPU's but you will more so with the GPU's as the 970 is a decent step up from the 860m. Add in extra SSD/HDD and RAM (I believe it goes up to 32GB but check), and see if they have allocated the 16GB as 2x8GB sticks or 4x4GB sticks.
Other option I would suggest looking at a custom PC builder such as Cyberpower, Xotic or other (no affiliations, heck I don't even live in the same country). You will be able to get a much more tailored system with a better upgrade path within your budget. You will get better CPU, better GPU, RAM options up to 32GB and more flexible drive and msata combinations and most importantly some flexibility with the way the system is configured. Some are re-brands of popular gaming laptops, some are from the more custom line of chassis and some are just tweaked versions of your off the shelf names. Plus you don't have to crack the thing open to replace drives etc. that you are paying for but won't use due to slow speeds and the warranty implications that can come from doing this
Not saying buy this as you need to shop around and find what suits you best but as an example this is from Xotic.

  • Premiere Pro is lagging on my brand new computer.

    My Stats are
    Intel Core i7 (4th Gen) 4720HQ / 2.6 GHz
    16 gig ram DDR3L SDRAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M - 4 GB GDDR5 SDRAM
    Cache L3 6MB
    2TB internal HDD
    Editing 4k 29 fps mp4 running at 60,000 kbps
I just bought a brand new laptop that was supposedly able to edit 4K video with Premiere Pro CS6. It is an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition with the above stated stats.
I bought a laptop because I need to do editing in more than one location and was told that I was going to be able to get away without having a desktop by using this computer, yet the program continues to lag significantly.
    Any suggestions???

...I agree with Bill....I have the same laptop as him and upgraded the memory and drives like he did to achieve good performance. You machine has a better CPU and GPU than ours. As I have seen my laptop go over 20 GB of system memory use on certain complex timelines, I would suggest adding more memory...16GB these days is a little marginal...Bill and I have 24GB and if you can max it out at 32GB, that would be the best. Whoops....just saw your specs and it says maximum memory is 16GB in two slots only.....I'm not sure if only 16GB will hamper 4K editing or not...you can monitor memory use with "task manager" to see if it maxes out, ( make sure your memory settings are correct in PPro "preferences" ).
If you have the M.2 slot , using  the XP941 would be a HUGE speed improvement. PPro needs two separate drives ,( unless using the XP941 ), to work properly in most cases. Using Crucial M550 SSDs are a good choice...they offer similar performance to the Samsung 850 Pro series at a lower price. Any single spinning hard drive will be a bottleneck with 4K...and most other footage. A 5400rpm drive makes a good paperweight, or, missile to be hurled at your TV screen !! Some newer laptops offer various storage configurations....check and see what yours are. Again, just saw someone from Acer telling a customer that your M.2 slot is limited to SATA III speed and is NOT PCI. In that case, the high speed XP 941 would be out, and you would have to use an M.2 SATA III SSD in that slot AND a second SATA III SSD, ( 2.5 inch ) in the other slot. One to be a boot drive with Windows OS and pagefile and programs....the other with all media, project files, cache files, previews, etc. You can experiment putting cache files on boot drive,or, previews, too, because of the high transfer speed of the SATA III SSDs.
Check out B&H or New Egg for deals on those SSDs, being careful to get the EXACT correct size M.2 SATA SSD for your particular slot. Your performance should increase greatly.....the single spinning slow HDD is the root of all evil !!...banish it !!
Bill is also correct about safely overclocking the GPU to achieve better performance. I use the free "MSI Afterburner" utility to overclock the memory clock to 903MHz over the native frequency, bringing the total to 2907 MHz and I tweak the core clock just a little, up 30 MHz. When exporting a complex timeline with many CUDA accelerated effects, this overclock has reduced my exporting time as much as 25%. There is NO overheating....with a different program I could probably increase the memory clock even more, but, this is good enough.
One thing to note...Eric Bowen here on the forum has shown in his testing that the newer Creative Cloud versions of PPro are much better at handling 4K than CS6, or, other previous versions. I know I experienced a noticeable improvement with the newer version on other codecs as well.
    Good Luck !

  • The Windows 10 Installation Failed

I have an Acer V 17 Nitro Black Edition (VN7-791G)
I have tried over 10 times to upgrade to Windows 10. Using the app (said I was ready to upgrade) to using a USB drive setup by the media creation tool from Microsoft. Everytime I have tried to upgrade I get the same error:
    Something Happened
    The Windows 10 Installation Failed.
That is the only error I get. I have the latest drivers, did a clean boot with no programs loaded and still get the same error. There are alot of crazy ideas on how to do it but none of them worked (eg; setting the date a day into the future)
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this as Microsoft support is worthless.
    Thanks

Hi, did you get your bluetooth to pair with your any of your bluetooth devices after Windows 10 upgrade? I tried mine many times and it doesn't work.  Seems like ACER/Broadcomm have yet to upgrade drivers for this model (VN7-791G). I posted this a few days ago - still no solution. http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10/VN7-791G-bluetooth-devices-not-working-after-Windows-10-upgrade/m-p/375461#U375461

  • Changing the default GPU

I am using an Acer V17 Nitro - Black Edition. Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M, 8GB RAM, Windows 8.1 and some Intel 4000 something or other. I refer to it like that because I want to disable it! Heres the lowdown:For my own personal reasons, I want to make my Nvidia GPU the default GPU for my PC. Unfortunately, it hasn't been easy; I have scoured the internet for a way to do this and finally decided on removing the whole optimus deal altogether. So I go into the BIOS and, lo and behold, there isn't a single option that has anything to do with the GPU!  If I disable the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, Windows completely ignores the Nvidia GPU and uses some stupid Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and I can't even open the Nvidia control panel because it apparently doesn't think that Nvidia can be used as a display adapter!  Hell, I tried to do that second screen thing, but it only recognizes the Intel. I couldn't care less about my battery power, because I know that's what this is all about. 'Use the Intel for normal stuff and use the Nvidia for gaming'. My problem is the 'by force' attatched to that sentence. Please help me, I'm at my wits end and THIS close from applying the baseball bat.
