ACER ASPIRE ES1-511-C83X WINDOWS 7 INSTALLATION

For the last couple of days I've been trying to install Windows 7 64-bit on my new ACER Aspire E15 [es1-511-c83x] that came with Windows 8.1  preinstalled. It  supports UEFI and LEGACY boot options settings in BIOS utility.   When I try to boot it from the Win 7 DVD it’s hanging on “Starting Windows”  logo screen after the files are loaded and the system is halted.I tried to run it in “Safe mode with Command prompt” and it stops at:
Loading Windows Files:
Loaded: ...\system32\drivers\disk.sys
When I start the installation from Win 8.1 interface and choose disk partition that was created with Win 8.1 I’m getting this message:
“The partitions on the disk selected for installation are not in recommended order. For additional information about installing to GPT disks go to the Microsoft website and search for GPT. Do you want to proceed with installation?”
If I go ahead it’s hanging again on “Loaded: ...\system32\drivers\disk.sys” after the system is rebooted.
I want to install windows 7 along with my Win8.1 with UEFI and GPT. I thing from windows 7, these configuration will work.
Do I have any other options?

  • Problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1. Acer Aspire E5-511

I bought an Acer Aspire E5-511, but I have problem with touchpad and Windows 8.1.The touchpad (Synaptics) is not working with Windows 8.1 x64, but it works fine with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.When I install Windows 8.1 and have to choose” language to install” I can’t choose anything with the touchpad. I should plug in my mouse to continue. I doesn’t work even when it’s fully installed and with latest driver (available only for win 8.1 x64) from Acer’s website. I tried with an older driver, but had no success. I updated BIOS, but it doesn’t work again. In hardware IDS in device manager it shows HID\… not ACPI\… (like win 7/8). Fn+F7 doesn’t help. When I try to install Windows7/8 the touchpad is working properly at the beginning (I can choose ”language to install”, “Time and currency format”… and the touchpad works after install even without driver).

SOLUTION So guys after deep research and troubleshooting I found that you need to keep notice of a few things at time of installation: Installation Mode: UEFI (only)- LEGACY would create touchpad issues. after installation of windows just follow the driver installation hierarchy 1.Intel NB_Chipset_M Baytrail-M 2.Intel I/O Driver then rest of the crap. Note:After doing all this make sure your touchpad is active >> Fn+F7 Just wished if this solution came from an acer executive , the world would have been a better place , but anyways this is what community is for. • Acer aspire ES1-111 issues

Hi all,I decided to register in this community in order to get some advice and opinion about issues I'm experiencing with this laptop. I'm an owner of an Acer Aspire ES1-111 which I bought a week ago. Since its first configuration I noticed problems using it with windows 8.1 (its native OS). For example touchpad or keyboard not working properly and, most of all, shutdown problems. In this particular case I was never able to shutdown properly the device, because it either freezed or remained with the power indicator that continued being "on" although it seemed that the system was shutdown. However, in order to really shutdown I had to press power button. Firstly I decided to reset the system with the integrated software eRecovery but problems remained. Secondly I decided to do a clean install of the operating system and I tried both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. In both cases, installation process finished without problems but when trying installing all drivers I experienced freezes and again shutdown problems. I followed an order to install drivers (Chipset first, than VGA etc), but in most of cases I had the aformentioned issues. I also tried disabling "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" to no avail.  But now comes the strange part... I finally decided to give a try to Windows 7 and, to my surprise, everything is working fine! I was able to install drivers properly and to shutdown or restart my notebook without problems. Now I'm using it with Windows 7, but, as it is in warranty, I would like to ask you what do you think about this issues.  I find quite strange that a notebook isn't working properly with its native OS but it's fine with an old OS!! Do you think I should send it to Acer assistance or ask to change it (although, I don't know if I'm still able to pursue this second option). Thanks for your attention! Mic

Bios was set to UEFI when I bought the notebook. System was very slow on its first configuration, probably due to all the third part softwares installed. Also the hdd was not partitioned, something I didn't like. So, after a reset with Acer eRecovery software that didn't solved the slowness of the system, I decided for a clean install with a Windows 8.1 bootable usb stick I had. And, in order to select the boot order desired, I had to change bios mode from UEFI to LEGACY. But, I think that this step was not the best option for a notebook that has a native UEFI bios, as my struggles showed. So, after some research, I decided to reset bios to UEFI, create a usb bootable stick that was compatible with UEFI (through RUFUS software) and run again installation process of Windows 8.1. And this time, all steps were done automatically and without problems. System is far more usable now. Yes, I lost the eRecovery partition, but I can alwasys use the one that the new installation has created.

  • BLACK screen Acer Aspire E5-511 Windows 8.1

Hi guys. I'm at my wits end here. I want to throw the computer out the window. Here is what is going on. First, it's my Mom's computer, all she uses it for is facebook. She got it at Christmas, but didn't start using it right away, has really only used it a couple of months now. She said all of a sudden yesterday evening, while playing a game on facebook, the screen went black. When she tried to start it up, nothing will happen. There is no cursor, nothing. The power light will come on, and you can hear and feel the fan. I have taken it apart, put in another hard drive, no luck. I put in more memory, no luck. I took out memory, no luck. I put the memory in the other slot, no luck. I have hooked it up to an external hdmi, no luck. Tried hooking an external cd rom to it, no luck. I have tried restarting with just the battery in, nothing. I have tried powering on with no battery, and just the charger, and nothing with that either. Again, the light and power will come on, but the screen doesn't do anything, not even a cursor. I have hard reset, soft reset, and done it all. I want to scream. I really want to get this working for my Mom, she's the best, of course. The only thing that I think might work, is a bios flash. I don't know how to go about that with a windows 8 computer, as all the tutorials that I have found are for older windows computers, and you need a *.fd file, and that does not seem available here on the acer site, for Mom's particular model. This also seems to be a common problem for acer computers, and that is not cool. Can anyone suggest to me how I can update the bios, or anything else that I can try, that might work?

    TheRealMrsMVP,
Sorry to hear that the Christmas present is not giving the best experience, it sounds like a hardware issue if you could not get an external display as well.

  • Acer Aspire E5-511. touchpad/mouse move cursor but will not open any programmes other than McAfee,

Just purchased this laptop, initial thought it was a great improvement on my 3 year old Aspire!!!   Latest problem after doing a complete scan with McAfee is the touchpad or remote will move the cursor but will not open any programmes other than McAfee.   The Windows symbol (bottom left hand corner) does not light up when the cursor is over it and I am unable to use windows key + C to get charms bar.  For background I have been unable to install windows updates since I have had this computer, two days, hence doing a scan to look for reasons.

Thanks for your suggestion Acer-Justin.   Sorted it by a switching off/reset using keyboard.   Sorted update problem using Microsoft who found a problem with update system then installed Windows 10 - all appears ok for now.

  • Acer Aspire V7-582PG very slow after upgrade to Windows 10 - ExpressCache not working

Upgrade my Acer Aspire V7-582PG to Windows 10. Startup and main windows events are very slow. The caching SSD is not used at all. I checked and I noticed that the ExpressCache software is removed during the upgrade to Windows 10. The folder "C:\Program Files\Condusiv Technologies\" is empty and the background service is gone. Tried to reïnstall an old version of the ExpressCache software (1.0.94), but Windows 10 is actively blocking this software and won't let me install this. Anyone have this working? Or contacted Acer Support about this problem?

Hi IronFly Thanks for your assistance, sadly this is one of the earlier solutions I have tried, however - still not working. ExpressCache does install with this particular installer - however, running 'ECCmd.exe -info' in admin command prompt gives me a result:  Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]

    Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire E 15 running Windows 8.1. The problem is when it starts up all I get is a Blank/black screen. No BIOS screen, if i look closely I can see the screen flicking. The machine does statup but I never get anything on the screen. I've tried removing the battery?

  • Install Windows 8.1 Pro on Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591

Hi forum, I recently bought the Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591 and I noticed that it only comes with the Core Edition of Windows 8.1. As I need some of the features of the Windows 8.1 Pro Edition (joining domains, remote display etc.) I would like to upgrade the System to Windows 8.1 Pro. I still have an unused Pro retail key (no OEM, no Upgrade Pack) here so at the moment I'm downloading the ISO for Windows 8.1 Pro. But prior to installation I would like to make sure that everything works out fine and I don't run intro problems. First of all: is there anything I need to save from the old OS (except from the recovery partition- I already saved that to a USB drive using the recovery program provided by Acer)? Do I have to know my Product Key (using for example a key viewer software) just in case? Do I have to disable secure boot in BIOS? Second: can I just install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website? Drivers should still work, right? Third: if I ever want to switch back to Windows 8.1 Core (the OEM edition) do I just use the USB pen drive created with the acer recovery tool? Will my retail Windows 8.1 Pro Key be usable again if I switch back to the original OS? Sorry for asking that many questions but I just have to make sure that it runs trough right in the first place because I need the Laptop to function. What would be your standard procedure to this kind of "problem"? Thanks in advance and with regards,The_DJ  Edit:I might have forgotten to mention that I want to do a clean reinstall without all the bloatware from Acer. That's why I'm using the Windows 8.1 Pro "Vanilla" ISO and if I ever want to switch back to core use the Windows 8.1 Core "Vanilla" ISO. Is that possible or would I have to use the recovery partition saved to my USB drive?

Changing the Operating System may cause driver conflicts. The compatible drivers for Windows 8.1 will not be available in the website for this laptop. Hence, some of the features on the laptop might not work after changing the OS.  1: Since you have already created the USB recovery media from the laptop, you do not have to copy anything else other than this.  Make sure you you backup all files before installing the OS, as it will remove all data from the laptop. I see that, you have the unused Pro retail key for the OS, hence, you do not have to have the OEM product key. You need to use the product key for Windows 8.1 Pro to activate it, not the Acer OEM product key.  In the BIOS, select BOOT tab.  Select BOOT MODE as Legacy Mode instead of UEFI.Disable Secure Boot. Under Boot Priority Order, you need to select 1 as CD/DVD (if you are using disc), or USB FDD or USB HDD (if you are using USB drive) to install Windows 8.1 Pro.  Then press the F10 key and select "Yes" to save the changes in BIOS.  ->You an install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website. As said before, there may driver conflicts.  -> If you want to switch back to Windows 8.1, you may use the USB reovery drive (which created you have created from the recovery partition). When you do this, the Windows 8.1 Pro and it's product key will be removed from the laptop and the factory shipped OS, drivers, apps (and the OEM product key) will be installed automatically. You do not have to use the Windows 8.1 Pro key with Acer OEM USB reovery media.  -> You need to do a clean install using the USB recovery drive to install factory shipped Windows on the laptop.

  • Can't complete a clean installation of WIN 7 PRO on an Acer Aspire 4738

    Hello,
If any one could help me with this problem i would really appreciate it.
I have an Acer Aspire 4738-6888 (icore 5, 3GB RAM, 500GB HD), it was running win 7 ultimate 32 bits but started working erratically so i decided to perform a clean installation. HD was formatted entirely.
Then tried installing WIN 7 PRO 64 bits from a DVD, but the installation program does not load and shows a kernel error oxc0000098
It is funny that if i use a WIN 7 PRO 32 bits DVD, the installation programs loads and starts, everything seems to run normally (HD partitions can be created and formatted, Files are expanded and configuration begins) but just after the third restart
when the assistant shows the message " preparing to run windows for the first time " the blue screen appears showing a "Memory_Management" error. Tried one more time but using a WIN 7 ULTIMATE 32 bits DVD with same results.
Finally, I tried using the "repair option" from the DVD and get this message:
    StartupRepairOffline
    01: 6.1.7600.16385
    02: 6.1.7600.16385

Before hand thanks a lot for your help,
    Rgds,

    Hi GustavoCh,
What issue did you meet so you want to reinstall?
Could you please use the Windows install image to install Windows in other computer or virtual machine? So we can make sure this issue is not caused by the image.
I think this issue is related to hardware, please contact the manufacturer for better help.

  • Please help Mum's Acer Aspire 8.1 won't boot to windows even with a windows disc BSOD

Hi.  I am sooo very frustrated.  My mum has an ACER Aspire E1-522 series.  She's been having probs with it since last summer as it turned very s-l-o-w and would take forever to do its updates...however, the internet is messed up here sometimes and hard to 'jump onto' with Wifi as she's not 'hardwired' to the internet.  Anyway, I had cleaned out her system a few times, no probs...Then AFTER the last update from windows ( approx. a month ago) and the computer shut itself down. Whenever she turned it on, it would 'interrupt' her after sign on screen for Windows and then say it was fixing itself.  I told her I would try to fix it (as we CANNOT afford to take it to repair for $100+) So I bought a 16g usb to do a back up on (it has never been done) as the back up would not go onto discs (??) Now, that I invested $ in that, the darn thing will ONLY come on with logo, and IF I'm lucky, will come on with blue screen "windows encountered an error, wait for repair..." then it goes black (or sometimes blue) for days...WHAT can I do?? How do I fix this? I don't know how to get the battery out either, but I don't want to damage the computer in case it does have to go to the shop.  And how does one even 'get in' for the RAM in case that is the problem? PLEASE PLEASE help!! ( it's not even 2 yrs. old... but it is out of warranty...) Thank you for reading my rant! (OH-PS: We tried to boot to windows with a disc and NO luck..)

    Hi,
Would you please first check if the system can startup into Safe mode?
Then, please try the startup repair in Advanced menu after you boot your computer via installation media.
How Run "Automatic Repair" to Fix Startup Issues in Windows 8 and 8.1
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2843-automatic-repair-run-windows-8-a.html
Then, if the issue still persists, try to boot PC in WinRE, and enter command prompt to run following commands:
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

So I call Acer Technical Support They said :
there is NO OTHER WAY to change this UEFI to LEGACY MODE (Build-in Bios mode CANNOT change other than UEFI)
you must install via DVD who FULLY SUPPORT UEFI -> Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 (ONLY in x64bit mode).
I hope you can resolve these for me.
    Thank you.

It is possible to install Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit from DVD to a UEFI based hardware, but must be done using an answer file. It may or may not work if you are using a recovery DVD. Either way, the OS is not supported on that hardware.
Windows 8 32bit is supported on UEFI hardware.
The problem with Win7 32bit on UEFI is a problem in the bootloader. The OS cannot boot because the bootloader cannot find the OS. I had suspected it may be possible to get the OS to boot by using BCDBoot, but since it isn't supported I have not put in any
effort to determine the method of doing it.
