Acer aspire v5 running slow :-(

Hello to those who are reading this. I purchased an acer aspire v5 122p-0408. It is slow like a snail!! What do I need to do?
I want to delete all the apps it came with. I read somewhere else that I should delete mcafee as well..Should I restore it to factory settings? How do I do that anyway?
I have not downloaded anything besides google chrome.& firefox. I thought Internet explorer was just slow but it's obviously that's not all..i also downloaded iTunes which is a problem in itself. I would appreciate the help please ... Before i attempt to do these things on my own lol.
Thank you in advance
Tera

i have alot of steps to really help out and i've had the same problem and now its at  an optimal speed so: 1: open up start and click run and in the box type in: %temp% after that enter and delete all that next you want to do the same thing exept type in: prefetch instead of %temp%, it will ask you to get permission just click continue or whetever to continue then delete all that. thats it for the deleting part now go to start and type in: disk cleaner then click the icon that says: free up space by deleting unecessary files then in the desktop a window will appear, just wait until it changes to another window that has check marks on it and check all that is avalible there and hit delete files then wait. what that entire thing just do was remove alot of junk files that your computer kept for no reason 2: go to your battery icon, click it and go to power settings then click adjust for best preformance. NOTE: it will use up more battery power and if you dont like that then keep it at what you already have it at 3: go to your libraries and right click the computer icon and hit properties, it will take you to the control panel go to the right side and find advanced system settings and click on that then click on settings in the preformance catagory and then choose the adjust for best preformance and none of those check boxes should be checked then keep it at that or cusomize it but keep in mind that the fewer boxes checked the better. thats all for now you should see a huge change in preformance as i did if you still need more i have alot more tips but thats all for now hope it works

  • How do I install the latest version of Firefox on my Acer Aspire One running Linpus Linux Lite?

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook. It runs "Linpus Linux Lite" OS. It came with Forefox 2 installed. I have searched the web for advice on how to upgrade to Firefox 3.5.
I had a go at it, I have now lost Firefox 2, but failed to install a later version.
Can someone tell me how t0 get either Firefox 2 back, or better still, unstall Firefox 3.5?
I should say that I'm a novice so I need really basic instructions.
If this plea for help doesn't work, I'll take my netbook to my local PC chap & ask for Windows to be installed on it!

  • Acer Aspire One will only connect via Fon now on H...

Since activating Fon on my BT Home Hub my Acer Aspire One - running Linux Linpus - will no longer log on to the 'normal' wireless connection on my hub, only Fon, which has limited bandwidth, etc.
Anybody know why? Have a solution?
I've 'proved' it's the Fon activation my doing a full reset on the hub. My One connected normally until Fon was reactivated, then back to Fon connection only

Re WPA - it was fine until Fon was activated!
When I did a factory reset on the hub the One connected as normal - until Fon reactivated at which point it was back to via Fon only!
As the MAC address for FON and your normal SSID would be the same, perhaps it is seeing your normal SSID and assuming that is FON, and connecting to that in preference to your normal one.
    Really strange problem.......

  • Firefox Slow Even When Offline on Acer Aspire One ao751h-1145

I have a 2gb RAM, 1.33 Ghz Intel Atom CPU Z520, and a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my Acer Aspire One ao751h-1145. I have no viruses and no programs running in the background. I've installed and uninstalled various versions of Firefox (4, 11, 12) and even upon a fresh install before I edit preferences, bookmarks, or add-ons, the PROGRAM ITSELF is super slow. It isn't using any more RAM or processer speed that it should, however. What it does: Menus are slow to open, scrolling is jumpy, and switching from tab to tab takes like 2 seconds. Internet Explorer 8 works just fine, as do all other programs on the computer. Also, it works fine in Safe Mode. I can't find anything regarding this issue online. Help!

Thanks for reply. But, drivers are up to date. However, I found on this page (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers) that I might want to disable hardware acceleration. I did that through the options menu and Firefox is "usable," but still not what I'm used to on other computers and still not as fast as IE on the same computer. Since turning of the hardware acceleration helped, what else can I do along the same lines to speed it up more? I know a 1.33GHz processor is plenty fast enough to run only firefox by itself. The computer I'm on now (my non-netbook) runs at 700MHz when on batteries and has no performance issues. I hope I can get it because I don't want to use another browser! :(

  • Acer Aspire 5253 Slow with archlinux

    Hello,
I have an Acer Aspire 5253 laptop with the following characteristics:
    6Gb RAM
    2 cpu's AMD 1.2 GHz 64-bit
    Ati radeon hd 6250
    500Gb HDD
Archlinux use for about a year. I have used many of the other distributions
existing linux and my experience with these has been quite frustrating.
    Gnome3 - Gnome-shell:
The free drivers do not support for 3D and everything works quite slow. menus
running slow and when I open more than 3-4 windows all works pretty bad.
With proprietary drivers experience with gnome-shell is reduced to shit.
    KDE:
Works better than gnome 3, much more fluid. The problem is that when I open several
windows desktop becomes slow. Eg. Use GIMP and paint with the brush is
delay between the mouse and the lines painted.
    XFCE:
It works better than Gnome 3 and KDE but I wonder: Why use a archlinux
laptop with 6GB of ram and a "good" graphics card if I can not even draw
    with a brush in GIMP?
Could anyone advise me to use my laptop so that you can leverage your hardware without problems?

What CUDA program are you running? The only software I use that takes advantage of CUDA is Blender, but I build it from source and it finds the CUDA libs just fine. What CUDA dev package did you install?

  • Acer Aspire V7-582PG very slow after upgrade to Windows 10 - ExpressCache not working

Upgrade my Acer Aspire V7-582PG to Windows 10. Startup and main windows events are very slow. The caching SSD is not used at all. I checked and I noticed that the ExpressCache software is removed during the upgrade to Windows 10. The folder "C:\Program Files\Condusiv Technologies\" is empty and the background service is gone. Tried to reïnstall an old version of the ExpressCache software (1.0.94), but Windows 10 is actively blocking this software and won't let me install this. Anyone have this working? Or contacted Acer Support about this problem?

Hi IronFly Thanks for your assistance, sadly this is one of the earlier solutions I have tried, however - still not working. ExpressCache does install with this particular installer - however, running 'ECCmd.exe -info' in admin command prompt gives me a result:  Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]

  • Unlocking operating system on Acer Aspire One Z65, AOA-1447 running XP Home Ed.

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire One Z65, AOA-1447, running Windows XP Home Edition. Is there a way (such as a key?) to unlock the operating system so I can download a different browser?
    Thanks!

Hi Karatekidmonkey, Yes, the Netbook came with XP Home Edition pre-installed. Apparently there was a free trial period for using Internet Explorer that must have expired long ago (the Netbook hadn't been used in a long time until just recently. I tried to access the Internet on it to download a new browser but it won't go to the webpage needed. It just sort of freezes up. I'm trying to find a way to "open" the OS so it will allow me to access the Internet to download a free browser. Since XP is no longer supported, I don't think MS tech support would be able to help me with that. Any suggestions?

  • Acer aspire ES1-111 issues

Hi all,I decided to register in this community in order to get some advice and opinion about issues I'm experiencing with this laptop. I'm an owner of an Acer Aspire ES1-111 which I bought a week ago. Since its first configuration I noticed problems using it with windows 8.1 (its native OS). For example touchpad or keyboard not working properly and, most of all, shutdown problems. In this particular case I was never able to shutdown properly the device, because it either freezed or remained with the power indicator that continued being "on" although it seemed that the system was shutdown. However, in order to really shutdown I had to press power button. Firstly I decided to reset the system with the integrated software eRecovery but problems remained. Secondly I decided to do a clean install of the operating system and I tried both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. In both cases, installation process finished without problems but when trying installing all drivers I experienced freezes and again shutdown problems. I followed an order to install drivers (Chipset first, than VGA etc), but in most of cases I had the aformentioned issues. I also tried disabling "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" to no avail.  But now comes the strange part... I finally decided to give a try to Windows 7 and, to my surprise, everything is working fine! I was able to install drivers properly and to shutdown or restart my notebook without problems. Now I'm using it with Windows 7, but, as it is in warranty, I would like to ask you what do you think about this issues.  I find quite strange that a notebook isn't working properly with its native OS but it's fine with an old OS!! Do you think I should send it to Acer assistance or ask to change it (although, I don't know if I'm still able to pursue this second option). Thanks for your attention! Mic

Bios was set to UEFI when I bought the notebook. System was very slow on its first configuration, probably due to all the third part softwares installed. Also the hdd was not partitioned, something I didn't like. So, after a reset with Acer eRecovery software that didn't solved the slowness of the system, I decided for a clean install with a Windows 8.1 bootable usb stick I had. And, in order to select the boot order desired, I had to change bios mode from UEFI to LEGACY. But, I think that this step was not the best option for a notebook that has a native UEFI bios, as my struggles showed. So, after some research, I decided to reset bios to UEFI, create a usb bootable stick that was compatible with UEFI (through RUFUS software) and run again installation process of Windows 8.1. And this time, all steps were done automatically and without problems. System is far more usable now. Yes, I lost the eRecovery partition, but I can alwasys use the one that the new installation has created.
