Never done anything to it before. Currently Not looking at the option of buying changing it to another new rig . Still loving this G . So consider the idea of upgrading just the gpu for it . I would like members can give me advice on which graphics card is the most fit , best possible recommended upgrade for this 4 yr old G5910.Currently looking at 700 and 900 GTX series of nvivia GE force gpu cards . But not sure any of those above will fit into the case and work with the system ?  Anyone ever done gpu upgrade before on this G5910 model ?  Please kindly advise thanks . Regards

Thanks bro north bridge !  Currently I'm considering the Asus Turbo OC 4gb GTX 970 . But at the moment  As I'm quite concerned about whether or not my motherboard can actually support gpu upgrades , Cos I seen on the net there are many g3620 owners out there doesn't been able to upgrade GPU because of the problematic mother board of Acer !Therefore before I invest on the Asus Turbo GTX 970 , I got to make sure it get to work with the motherboard of my G5910 ..Is there anyone had a G5910 which already with a successfully GTX upgrade ? Anyone thanks .  Anyway I just got the email from Acer ,  this is what I got the reply from ACER !Ha , what a  lame reply !!! Give these kind of reply ? Bought a Acer and they can't even give you a simple answer whether or not the motherboard can be upgraded to a different gpu !!! WTF ? Now I know why many advice me not to get a Acer ! • Acer Predator running win 8.1 which I wish to upgrade to win 10. What will happen to recovery discs?

I have a two year old Acer Predator with Win 8.1 installed. I wish to upgrade to Win 10 but I'm concerned about what will happen if I get a hard drive failure at some point. Will I need to pay for another set of recovery discs? Or will I have to install Win 8 from the discs I already have, then upgrade to 8.1, then to Win 10?

if your HDD will die, you can use your windows 8 recovery disk and then upgrade to 10 without passing by 8.1but.....i can suggest an easy way. You can create a system image just after upgrading to windows 10, having your drivers updated to windows 10 version too and check that your system is stable. after that, with windows tool you can create that system image on DVD or external HDD and use it to re-install your windows 10 copy as you just upgraded. http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-10/ to use a windows system image, you need a bootable windows 10 installation media but this is easy to have it from microsoft:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10download the .iso file and burn it on a DVD. so....at the end, you will boot from the DVD and choose to repair your PC and selecting to load the system image.

  • H530 GPU upgrade

    Hello everyone
I wan wondering if I could upgrade my GPU to a gtx 750 TI and the questions are :
Does it fit the current case ?
Do I have to change the PSU ?
Do I have to change the MB ?
    thanks .

    Hi Haze3131,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are looking for a GPU upgrade to GTX 750 TI in your Lenovo H530 desktop.
As per the specification of the GPU shared by you the minimum requirements is :
    Thermal and Power Specs:
    Maximum GPU Temperature (in C): 95 C
    Graphics Card Power (W)   : 60 W
    Minimum System Power Requirement (W): 300 W
As the system PSU is very low hence the PSU and also the Motherboard needs to be upgraded. I would also suggest you to visit the nearest service center for further details.

I've been wondering if upgrading stock MacPro 2008 would help. I'm also wondering if the new 10.5.3 update has a driver that delivers better performance for the mac upgrade gpu from nvidia(i believe it's the 8800gt)...
I've noticed stuttered playback on various 3rd party filter. Would also like to start using motion for green screen and color cc...

  • Photoshop Crashes after GPU Upgrade

I just recently upgraded my GPU from an nVidia GTX 460 to an AMD Radeon R9 290, and since then I've been experiencing problems with Photoshop.
Just after I upgraded my GPU, I did a clean uninstall of my old drivers, installed my new drivers (which I also updated to the latest version [13.12] just today), and tried using Photoshop.
At first, I was prompted with an error dialog saying that Photoshop could not detect my graphics card, so it has disabled OpenGL support.
I ignored the error, and proceeded to editing an image, but after a few actions Photoshop crashed, prompting me with the 'Photoshop has stopped working' windows dialog.
After restarting Photoshop, I went to Edit -> Preferences -> Performance and checked the GPU Settings box, which was now grayed out.
When hovering over it, Photoshop displayed a notification saying that there is a problem with my Display Driver, and that I should re-install it.
I re-installed my graphics driver, tried several different versions too, re-installed Photoshop, did a clean uninstall (with the help of the Adobe Clean tool) and re-install, but none of these actions helped.
While I was in safe mode (for cleaning up my GPU drivers), I launched Photoshop and realized that even though it told me that there was an error with my drivers, it would work just fine, without crashing after executing a few actions.
I also checked the Help -> System Info dialog for possibly obtaining additional information about the error, but the only relevant thing I can see is 'The GPU Sniffer crashed on XX/XX/XXXX at XX:XX:XX'.
I find this weird, because when I manually run the sniffer, it simply exits after printing 'snifferStart="XXXX-XX-XX_XX:XX:XX"'.
The last thing I tried doing was renaming sniffer.exe to something different.
This resulted in Photoshop re-enabling the GPU Settings box (but obviously saying that there is no GPU detected), and getting rid of the weird crashes.
However, it also resulted in various other glitches, like the main view not updating, the layer previews not properly working, etc.
Finally, I should note that I tried using both Photoshop CS6 (which I initially had installed), and a trial version of Photoshop CC.
My system specs are the following:
    OS: Windows 8.1 (64 bit)
    RAM: 16GB DDR3
    CPU: Intel i5 3570K
    GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290
Secondary GPU (Onboard): Intel HD 4000 Series
Currently Installed Photoshop Version: Photoshop CC 14.1.2 (x64)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I noticed the same problem if I had my two R9 290s in Crossfire mode. If I turn off Crossfire, I get no error.
HOWEVER, as I have just upgraded from 2 GTX580s, and I do a lot of professional digital painting, I noticed using my Wacom Intuos5 (I usew the Cintiq 24HD with GTX580 at work), there was heaps of lag in painting with a standard brush. If I just did a slow stroke, the 'paint' would be lagging behind the brush 5-10mm onscreen. I tried setting the 'Use Graphics Processor' down to Normal and Basic, and it got worse. I turned 'Use Graphics Processor' off completely and there is no real discernible lag, feels very natural as with the Nvidia cards. However, because this is turned off, I loose any GPU 'accelerated' advantages like animated zoom etc.
    My setup:
    Catalyst Software Suite: 13.12
    Display Driver ver. 13.11
    OpenGL(tm) Driver ver. 6.14.10.12618
    Catalyst Control Center ver. 2013.1206.1603.28764

  • How much will GPU upgrade for Dual 1.25 G4 FW800 help HD rendering times

--"Oh great, not another 'I have an ancient Mac' thread, time to join the 21st century!"
Please hear me out. I don't have a lot of money. Any money I have needs to go to video/photography needs since that is my job. If I bought a proper editing station I couldn't afford to shoot. Currently I shoot HDV but will be shooting Canon 5D mark ii (h.264) soon. I use FCS2, but since I have a Dual 1.25 G4 FW800 I can't use Color or Motion. I would "like" to explore those programs.
Why don't I face reality and buy a new Mac? Because after reading threads like this I am afraid of missing the alleged 32nm Arrandale MBP coming out in a year. The past 7 years with the desktop I've needed to go portable at times so I'd like to get the MBP. I understand it will probably only last ~half as long as would a MacPro. Maybe I'll get rich and can buy a MacPro in a few years...
This Arrandale possibility has me shaken up. I've put off buying a new Mac for so long. I really haven't "needed" to edit intensively. A TV show I'm on is ending and I want to be doing more of my own stuff in the near future. How much, I don't know.
Would buying a new GPU such as the ATI 9800 Pro help me get back into the game? Could I use Color or Motion effectively and will render times in FCP6 be better? I've tried searching here and elsewhere and am certain this had to come up but can't find anything specific to my question. I run Leopard but could go back to Tiger if need be. I've read all the system requirements but want to know first hand knowledge, from those who've tried (FCS2 with a PPC G4). Is it worth an upgrade to hold out another year for a MBP?
    Anything else I should say?

I wouldn't wait another day. There will always be some incredible new upgrade around the corner. Using G5s with HD makes me go insane. I can't imagine a G4. A new graphics card will not help you. Shooting with the Canon 5D will require you to render your h.264 video to an editable format. That only uses the CPU. The GPU will only expend its energy drawing the slowly-updating progress bar on screen. Last week I was on location with a year-old MBP and the conversion times for Canon 5D footage were a bit too long for my tastes. Doing it with an 8-core Mac Pro is significantly better.

  • Mac Pro 12 core 5,1 GPU upgrade

    Hi,
I do most of my work in AE CS6 and CC, video edit in PP and use C4D. I want to upgrade my GPU and cannot seem to find the right info. Should I use a GTX 680 or a AMD Sapphire HD 7950? I don't use Ray-Tracing in AE. I'm looking for fluid workflow with better preview and hoping for better rendering time. Would I benefit from the CUDA or invest in a AMD? So many info out there... Thanks a lot for your help.

Head over to the MacRumors forum and look for a user called "MacVidCards".  Or hunt for some of this stuff on EBay.  The reason I say this is: Dave will flash just about any PC-based nVidia card so that it runs properly in a Mac Pro.  So you don't need to buy "old tech" such as the GTX680 (which is 2 generations old at this point).  As long as the GPU can be powered by the available plugs in the Mac Pro, Dave can make it work properly in the OS.
If you're dead set on commercial cards that are supported on the Mac without going through a 3rd party, I'd recommend the GTX680.  OpenCL (which runs with the AMD cards) is still in "catch-up" phase with nVidia's CUDA.  Both from an Adobe perspective as well as generically.

  • MSI GT70 0ND-444US CPU and GPU upgrade

So I have had the GT70 0ND-444US for almost 2 years now, It's an amazing laptop - the only issue is, the GPU is getting outdated and slow for today's games and I was wondering what are my options for upgrading to a new GPU like the GTX 770M? or the GTX 970M? Would cooling be a problem? Also what are my options of upgrading the i7-3630QM to something better?

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-official-msi-gt60-70-970m-980m-upgrade-thread.765058/
    Get the 970m.
I would upgrade to either a 3740qm or 3840qm.  They have a few unlocked turbo bins and you'll get phenomenal performance from those chips.
You can upgrade an extreme mobile CPU (3920xm or 3940xm) but they are more expensive usually and also run hotter than the previous mentioned quads.

  • Does GPU upgrade makes Flash Pro Cs6 faster?

    Hi,
I have been using Flash Pro cs6 for character animation and when i zoom in zoom out the response is slow and also when i am scrolling to may timeline.
I have lots of symbols and tweening.
I notice that when I use the pc in the office its much smoother so i am planning to upgrade my own pc at home.
    I have:
    Amd Phenom II X4 840
    8 gb ram
    ATI Firepro v4800
I have a limited budget so i am thinking if i upgrade my GPU with Asus GTX strix 960 2gb, will it solve the issue?

No. GPU acceleration is only used on playback of published files and for video decoding. Your main processor is the bottleneck here.

  • S20, need upgraded PSU to support GPU upgrade, recomendations?

    Hello All,
I'm trying to track down a suitible PSU upgrade from the 625w AcBel, that was stock on my S20, to something in the 850w rangs (800 - 900). The 10-pin EPS (CPU power supply) on the MoBo is making finding anything aftermarket difficult. I see that the C20 has an 800w PSU. I'm trying to find out if it is compatible and if so the part #. The IBM Phone system has been a little les that productive so far.
Any product recomendation would be greatly appreciated (aftermarket or manufacturer spec).
Thanks for your time - NHC
BTW - The new GPU I'm trying to power is just a AMD 6970, it's crashing after about 45 min. of strenuous use. All drivers are updated, temps are good, and system checks all come up positive. Hence my hypothesis of being slihtly underpwered. The PSU calc. I ran came up with an estimated requirement of 560w so running the old 625 is cutting things a bit close.
    Thanks again
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can just about guarantee you that power is not your problem.  From what I can find, the 6790 requires 2 x 6pin power connectors.  These connectors supply ~75W each.  With 75W from the board (by spec), this card theoretically maxes out at 225W.  Based on the specs of the card, I would say the max power is actually well below that.
S20 can easily support a 225W card, along with another standard 75W card as well.  So power on this rail is plentiful, and is unlikely to be the cause of your problem....especially since I don't think your card is anywhere near 225W.
As Erik stated, drivers is where you want to focus.  Desktop/gaming cards aren't workstation class cards, are are well known to be more buggy/crash-prone (though ideally not as bad as what you're experiencing).

  • GT70 GPU Upgrade from GTX675mx to GTX780m

    Hello,
on my GT70 0ND, is it possible to upgrade my GPU from a GTX675mx to a GTX780m? (I know they do mechanically fit)
Are there any issues I should know?
My BIOS version is E1762IMS.50U if that matters...
Oh, and the GTX780m I can get my hands on is an MSI card.
    Thanks for reply.

There should be many many other threads on here, several very recent as well, about upgrading cards. You're going an easier route than most as both cards in question are relatively new, and going msi to msi card as well.
Making sure the vbios is correct for the new card is I believe the only thing other than the swapping out. Im not sure how your cooling is compared to the newer gt70's but id try and find a tear down picture of youtube of the inside of the newer and compare to yours. The 675m is a lower power gpu, and cooling would also need ot be less, while the 780m is almost the top end power using card. So make sure cooling is the same, if not pick up new heatsinks as well.
The only thing is, msi doesn't cover swapping graphics, they don't say you cant, but they wash their hands of it and don't offer anything other than drivers. Its really a 50/50 if it will work, and you could end up with a brick and 2 bad gpu's.
That said, ive repasted my cpu/gpu several times now, its fairly simple if you know a few thigns about it. If I was in your shoes right now, I would try. But I am in no way telling you to, nor saying it will work. I cannot do that, nor will I really be able to help if it doesn't work.
But my advice, would be get the vbios drivers for a 780m, and double/triple check your cooling vs newer cooling.

  • Envy 17t-j000 GPU Upgrade

So I have a recently purchased HP Envy 17t-j000. I have the NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M. What I want to know is if I can upgrade this dedicated GPU through my own efforts. Otherwise, is it possible to give HP Support a call (or whomever I would call for this purpose) and return the laptop to replace my GPU with the very recently added option of the NVIDIA GT 750M. It would only be a $20 difference so I don't see there being a problem in doing so. Please advise.

It is a big deal because it would require a new motherboard. There is no other way to upgrade the GPU and if the GT 750M was just introduced I doubt it will be easy to get one of those motherboards for a while.
