Acess BW queries using WAD Web Items

Hello Experts,
I have developed a Dashboard in WAD, but now the client wants to use the Analysis and Chart Web items of WAD to jump to another BW queries.
My idea was to associate hyperlinks to the Web Items, but i'm not being able to do that.
Is this interface possible?
Best Regards

Hi
You can write a Java script or XML to jump into the BEx query designer . If you wish not to use RRI functinoality and want a link or any item to jump to the BEx output result

  • How to fix column / row as "header" in WAD (Web item Analysis) ?

    Hi,
    is there a possibility to fix a column or row as "header" in web item analysis? (like freeze panes in excel)
    When scrolling down, the header should always be displayed.
    Thank you very much in advance, best regards
    Frank

    We did a custom proof of concept on this back in 3.5 using CSS and/or javascript. At that time there was no BW solution for this.
    Don't know if 2004s has this ability or not. Here's a link to an example that shows how it can be done using CSS:

  • WAD Web Item : Custom Extension

    Hi,,
    I have created a class for basically exporting data to excel sheet. i have created a web item custom extension and mapped the class to it through the parameters DP:included data provider details, variable details, navigation access and result set access.
    and ultimately mapped to Button.
    now when i am executing the Button doesnt work, so i have created a break point in the methods initialize and execute inside the class, but it doesnt seem to work. please suggest, if  i have missed something while creating class/webitem/button.
    I am basicaly trying to Export data to excel through class.

    Any suggestions?..

  • WAD - Export to Excel: Information from Web Item "FILTER_PANE_ITEM"

    Hi all
    In a report header I would like to display all the restrictions (filters) that have been placed on a query. I do this by adding a FILTER_PANE_ITEM in the web application. I works fine in the IE: In the top of the report all restrictions are displayed and below the query result from ANALYSIS_ITEM part.
    I have created a Buttom called "Export to Excel". The Command is EXPORT and in the web items for Data Binding I list both the FILTER_PANE_ITEM and the ANALYSIS_ITEM.
    When I run the report in the IE and push the "Export to Excel" buttom the data is exported to Excel...but only the ANALYSIS_ITEM part. All information from the FILTER_PANE_ITEM are missing... And I don't understand why!
    Can anyone give me a hint to what I am doing wrong?
    Regards
    Peter

    Peter
    FILTER_PANEis not an exportable item and hence the web item binding is ignored.
    Please see note 1178857 - Additional information: Export to Excel functions
    Alternatively, you can use INFO_FIELD Web Item to display the list of static, dynamic filters and variable values used.
    Thanks

  • Long Texts in BI: displaying in Web report using WAD

    Hi, Gurus!
    Assumtion is that:
    *) user uses EP portal to access BI reports;
    *) these reports are pre-formatted, preferably-static, and with print option (maybe via xls or pdf format);
    *) Win Gui is NOT an option to use in EP;
    Here is the Question:
    Is there any ready-made recipe how to get BI reports containing Long Texts on web (most possibly by using WAD - Web Application Designer)?
    There are two great blogs by Eugene Khusainov:
    *) <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3766">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3766</a>
    *) <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3768">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3768</a>
    These ones deal with this question in Bex WorkBook.
    I'm looking for similar solution as in above mentioned blogs, but only for the web (EP). Thus would like to get your opinion before reinventing the wheel.
    Thanks a lot in advance for all ideas!
    --- Kaspars
    P.S. Have gone through several SAP docs, but had not find an exact solution...
    P.S.S. in case you have some ready-made-docs, please use the following e-mail: [email protected]

    Hi, Prakash!
    Thank you for the suggestions! The document you mentioned is a very good as such. However in my case it doesn't seem to be a solution.
    Could you please elaborate on your comment regarding "rendering with XSL" ...?
    Thanks,
    --- Kaspars
    NOTE to clarify 'static': I am not looking for a precalculated report/document. It should be like a normal query. But from a users point-of-view it is just a report he/she can ONLY print out. That's it; no drill-downs, no filtering, no nothing.
    Wouldn't there be these long texts (texts in several columns, that should be displayed as one column) + header & footer formatting;... Then I could use regular EP iView template (and pure query made in BEx Query Designer as data source within it).
    NOTE 2: user just have to click on a hyperlink in EP to access this report. No parameters should be submitted by user.

  • Dashboard using WAD

    Hi Experts,
    What are the steps to be followed in the creation of Dashboard using WAD.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Namrata

    Hi  Sanchana,
    The steps to be followed in the creation of Dashboard using WAD:
    1) Open a New Web template in WAD.
    2) Define the tabular layout as per the requirements so as to embed the necessary web items.
    3) Place the appropriate web items in the appropriate tabular grids
    4) Assign queries to the web items (A Query assigned to a web item is called as a data provider)
    5) Care should be taken to ensure that the navigation blocku2019s selection parameters are common across all the BEx queries of the affected data providers.
    6) Properties of the individual web items are to be set as per the requirements. They can be modified in Properties window or in the HTML code.
    7) The URL when this web template is executed should be used in the portal/intranet.
    Cheers,
    Tanish.

  • Web Items cause poor performance?

    Hi Experts!
    I have a web report that takes approximately 60 seconds to run. it has 2 queries but they are set to run only on navigation, and in RSRT, only 1 query runs on query execution.
    In RSRT, the report information says that the query takes about 7 seconds.
    Therefore, I am assuming that the other [approx] 50 seconds are being lost at the presentation layer.
    Within my report, I have a number of Web Items. stripping out the web itmes (tabs, containers, etc) to just the bare minimum (Analysis table). I have removed the other query entuirely. the report now returns in approximately 14 seconds.
    Therefore, I am wondering:-
    Does anyone know if the number of Web Items has a detrimental affect on report preformance?
    Does anyone know of a way to speed up this part?
    Is it something to do with the processing of the hardware that could slow this down?
    Has anyone experienced this before? And if so, are there any pointers on how this can be resolved.
    Many thanks!
    Dave

    Thanks - but I know what Web Items are, I am interested if they have an impact of report preformance (ie, does using 12 web items with 1 query reduce report preformance?) My theory is that is does, but if it does, I would like to know why and if there is anyway to improve performance - even if this means upgrading the hardware.
    I am trying to find out if anyone has come across similar issues on their projects and if they have, how they overcame this.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Ticker Web Item

    Hi,
    I am using ticker web item in one of my web reports. Is there anyway to increase the font of the text in the ticker web item.
    I checked the properties of the ticker but it does not show any option to increase the Font of the Text in the ticker.
    It has an option to increase height of the ticker but that does not help as it only increase the height and not the font size of text inside it.
    - Parin Gandhi.

    Hi, Parin,
    Although I have not tried it out I am quite confident that this is steered by the cascading stylesheet which you are using in your web template.
    In your CSS file look for "SAPBexTicker". This should be the identification where you have to define typeface, size and so on.
    I hope these hints help to solve your problem.
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Jay
    Web items and HTML elements (for example, tables, texts, and images) that you insert into a Web template, as well as the Web template itself, have a context menu. This context menu has context-sensitive menu entries that you can use to call various Web Application Designer functions. You can, for example, use the context menu to save a Web item (for which you have specified properties by using the parameters) as a reusable Web item, call the properties dialog box for this Web item, copy the Web item and paste it into another Web template, or delete the Web item from the Web template.

  • WAD binding using "Web Item with ManualInput"

    I am using a formula variable in a fox to get an user entered number. I have Input Field web item in the web template and I am trying to pass the input value from this item to the formula variable using "Web Item with ManualInput" binding type . But, the user entered value is not getting transferred to the fox.
    While other variable types work fine, seems to be having issues with this binding type for formula variable. Any help in resolving this issue is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi all,
    please try following procedure to pass the entered value from WAD to FOX:
    Within the command "exec_planning_sequence" (or planning function) do the following data binding:
    variable: {technical name of your formula variable}
    variable type: "item-input"
    web-item: {technical name of your input item}
    Should look like this in XHTML (assume the formula variable is called Z_IM_TEST_MMEVE_001):
    <bi:command type="EXEC_PLANNING_SEQUENCE_SIMPLE">
    <bi:param name="VARIABLE_VALUES" type="ORDEREDLIST">
      <bi:param name="VARIABLE_VALUE" type="COMPOSITE" index="1">
       <bi:param name="VARIABLE" value="Z_IM_TEST_MMEVE_001" text="Z_IM_TEST_MMEVE_001">
      </bi:param>
       <bi:param name="VARIABLE_TYPE" type="CHOICE" value="ITEM_INPUT">
        <bi:param name="ITEM_INPUT" type="COMPOSITE">
        <bi:param name="ITEM_REF" value="INPUT_FIELD_TEST">
       </bi:param>
      </bi:param>
    </bi:param>
    </bi:param>
    I implemented the same thing successfully and received the entered values in FOX correctly. If it does not work just post a description of the problem appearing.

  • Toggle between Web Items using an Image link in WAD 7.0

    Hello,
    i want to toggle between Web items using an image link: e.g. on my template I have a visible table and a hidden chart, now when I click on a small chart image I want the table to get hidden and the chart to get visible. I know that this is possible using a button group, but I need to make this possible using an image.
    My approach is the following:
    1. Using a script item with 2 commands of type SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS from the command wizard, from which one command hides the table and one command makes the chart visible.
    2. Writing a hyperlink which calls up the script using the image as source.
    Now my problem:
    This works only if I'm using ONE command of type SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS in the script function. So I can either make the chart visible or hide the table. When I insert a second command in the java script nothing works anymore. However, I need to use both commands at once in order to make it useful. I don't know how to program in javascript, can you help me out?!
    Thanks,
    Norbert
    PS: I could show you the javascript code which was created automatically by the web application designer including both commands, but as I've just seen it in the preview it looks totally messed up since it doesn't get formatted corrected.

    Hi Norbert,
    There is an easier approach. In the button group item, you can insert an image and a description. Just open the parameters of your button there you will find the parameter 'icon'. Insert an image there and leave the 'caption' empty.
    Best regards,
    Janine

  • Problem exporting to excel when using embedded web templates through WAD

    Using web templates designed with WAD, we are experiencing an issue when trying to export excel when using embedded web templates.
    We have set up tabstrips within our templates that load other templates (embedded into the global template).
    Upon right clicking on any query and choosing "Export to Excel", any query that is in one of the tabs using the embedded web template item does not show up.  Any queries in natively in the global web template will export and show up fine.
    Any thoughts on how to enable something like this, or workarounds to make this work?  We decided to split up these templates for performance reasons and can't go back from that decision.  Also let me know if you need a better explanation of what we're trying to do.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jonathan

    Hi SDBI,
    Is this in place of loading a new template per tab?  We are using container layouts in all of our templates so we can link things into tabstrips as well, we have just split up some templates to be embedded into tabs for performance reasons and data locking.
    Also when exporting, we are looking for all of the items displayed at that time to be exported, however only the items from the global template show up, not all of the displayed queries.  For example, anything outside of the tabstrip will export perfectly, but since the query embedded into the template the tabstrip is loading is not part of the native web template, it does not show up.
    Seems like a tool limitation to me when embedding templates?
    Thanks,
    Jon

  • How to change the size of the web item text in WAD 7.0

    Dear All
    I am quite new to WAD and I am having a problem with changing the font size of a web text item
    I have searched already and someone suggested changing the Design property to  HEADER1 or HEADER2 etc and then I should be able to change the font / size.
    I have done this but to no avail
    I want to have large heading across the top of the web template
    am I using the wrong web item ?
    I know I can key the text directly into the web template and change the font from the menu bar  but I need it in an item as I want to export them through to PDF later
    Would be grateful of any help
    thanks
    Sandra

    Thank you all for your quick responses (I will award points once this is sorted)
    On the information you have supplied this has opened up yet another new part of WAD that I have not experienced ...TAGs
    Shubhranshu - I have done what you said but as I have never used tags I have just had a look around and found that I can insert Any Tag but not sure if I should be doing that.  If it is inert any tag , I chose FONT from the drop down and cbmAttributes defaulted into the custom tab for the class name but not sure what it wants in the Attributes and CSS Style tab, it won't accept what I am putting which is leading me to believe that I shouldn't be doing it that way.
    Venkat - thanks for the links they will prove very useful.  I've had a look and although they talk alot about the XHTML code for tags they don't actually say how you do it in the editor - I would like to produce one that way first and then see the code it generates for it.  I'm a bit apprehensive with changing the code direct as I don't want to mess anything up.
    Thanks again for your help

  • How to use a Web Template with queries from multiple BW Systems?

    Hi all,
    can anybody help me how to use a Web Template with queries (DATA PROVIDER)in it from multiple BW Systems?
    Thanks in advance, best regards
    Frank

    Great! Thanks for the quick response.
    Have you tried this for XMLA datasources created within the EP system also?
    i.e use Web Analyzer to create a view from the XMLA source and use that view within WAD?
    Thanks.
