ACL-Default-Entries don't work
hi.
i'm not sure, it's the right topic but i didn't find an appropriate one, so i just choose one, where someone posted something about ACL.
I'm working on a SunOS 5.10 at my university and try to set a default user to a directory. with:
setfacl -s user::rwx,group::---,mask:rwx,other:---,default:user::rwx,default:user:<username>:rwx,default:group ::---,default:mask:rwx,default:other:--- <file1>
with getfacl <file1> i got:
# file: <file1>
# owner: <owner>
# group: <group>
user::rwx
group::--- #effective:---
mask:rwx
other:---
default:user::rwx
default:user:<newuser>:rwx
default:group::---
default:mask:rwx
default:other:---
after that i do "cd <file1>", than "mkdir <file2>" and than getfacl <file2>. Saddly i got this output:
# file: <file2>
# owner: <owner>
# group: <group>
user::rw-
group::rw- #effective:rw-
mask:rwx
other:rw-
I thought, when i set the default-entries every file in it would get the same ACL-File so <username> can access everything in <file1>
I'm i wrong?

I redacted the UUID more because it was long and cumbersome to type than for security reasons, haha. It points to /dev/sda1, which is an ext4 partition and the only partition on the drive. When I edit the command and substitute the UUID for "/dev/sda1," the exact same thing happens (the menu "refreshes").
It's good to know that poweroff isn't expected to work.
I'll also add that since this is on a flash drive, I can access the entire drive from within another arch install I've got in VirtualBox, if that helps. I've done that and checked the /boot folder and all of the files it is referencing in the errors seem to be in place, although I noticed that /boot/vmlinuz-linux has a size of 0 bytes – is that to be expected or is there an issue here?
This was also working about 2 hours ago so I think it has something to do with updating the kernel

ThanksOkay, problem was using IE9. Changing to another browser (FF5) allowed access. Strange... Anyone know by IE9 wont work? It has worked in the past.

Problem with cp and ACL default entry for mask
I am having a problem with the cp command, copying to a directory with default ACL entries.
I don't think it is creating the ACL's of the resultant files correctly.
I have two users (let's call them mark and john).
As john I create a directory and give it ACL privledges to mark, as well as setting defaults to give john writes to anything mark creates.
john> mkdir for-mark
john> setfacl -rm 'user:mark:rwx,default:user::rwx,default:user:john:rwx,default:group::r-x,default:mask
:rwx,default:other:r-x' for-mark
john> getfacl for-mark
# file: for-mark
# owner: john
# group: john
user::rwx
user:mark:rwx #effective:rwx
group::r-x #effective:r-x
mask:rwx
other:r-x
default:user::rwx
default:user:john:rwx
default:group::r-x
default:mask:rwx
default:other:r-x
As mark I copy files to that directory:
mark> cp myfile /home/john/for-mark
mark> getfacl /home/john/for-mark/myfile
# file: /home/john/for-mark/myfile
# owner: mark
# group: staff
user::rw-
user:john:rwx #effective:r--
group::r-- #effective:r--
mask:r--
other:r--
The mask is incorrectly set to r-- instead of rwx.
This leaves john unable to write to myfile (although, strangely he can delete it).
I am NOT using the -p option on cp. I would expect this behavior if I did.
Mark can create a file with touch or vi and the mask is incorrectly set to rw-, which is a little better. Compiles are definitely created correctly with rwx.
Is this a bug? Or am I doing something wrong.You are having issues in client 000 rite ?
I dont think login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0 will help you , This parameter will help you to login newly created client ( other than 000/001) with sap* and passowrd PASS.
login/failed_user_auto_unlock = 1 , will enable automatic unlock off locked user at <b>midnight</b>
Did you use the correct Maxdb sql command ?
Thanks

Installing Framework 3.5 fails with error code 0x800F081F - default solutions don't work
The installation of .NET framework 3.5 fails on Windows 10 Tech preview. I tried it using:
1. = Programs and features - using Windows Update - results in error 0x800F081F
2. = using the local media with DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:\sources\sxs - it reports in de dism log that the feature NetFx3 is an unknown feature (with an elevated account)
3. = changing the group policy (it is an AD connected system) using the steps as described in the following technet: dn482065
4. = using the installer dotnetfx35.exe - it also brings up the 'programs and features' window with the same results as 1.
Any ideas? Regards,
MikeHi mv4neck,
Error code 0x800F081F means that we can’t find a source for the files we need to install the feature you’re requesting.
In you first way, you use Windows update to download related component files, so I suggest you run dism command to restore system health:
Windows Update error 0x800F081F
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/windows-update-error-0x800f081f
Make sure you have good network condition.
Here is my situation:
For your second way, based on my observation, there is no such component files in 9841 DVD\source\sxs folder.
So this command wouldn’t work:
DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:\sources\sxs
In the meantime, by default, the install.wim doesn’t include NetFx3:

[SOLVED] Menu Entries Don't Work In Syslinux
I installed and set up arch on a flash drive yesterday and it was working great.
Today, I tried to install gnome but I was getting two invalid signature errors from dependencies so I followed philm's advice to remove the pacman caches and ran:
sudo pacman -Syu
This seemed to update several things, including the kernel. pacman completed without any errors and I rebooted the machine, but now I'm stuck in syslinux, and can't get past the menu.
Selecting "Arch Linux" very quickly brings up a loading message and then the syslinux menu refreshes.
"Arch Linux Fallback" does nothing apparent.
I can access the hardware detection tool, but that's no help.
Even "Poweroff" gives an "APM not present" error.
The only option that does what it's supposed to is "Reboot."
Pressing tab reveals the command being run is:
> .linux ../vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=[redacted] rw initrd=../initramfs-linux.img
Pressing esc and typing arch at the "boot:" prompt gives:
Loading ../vmlinuz-linux... failed: No such file or directory
As I said I installed arch yesterday so I'm a complete n00b… any ideas of what I could try to fix this?

Hyperlinks from Outlook 2010 don't work anymore (Firefox is my default browser)
Since I installed IE 9 I can't use Hyperlinks in Outlook anylonger (Firefox remains my default browser!). I tried already
a) set IE 9 default (Hyperlinks works) and switch back to Firefox (Error message and Hyperlinks don't work)
b) "Start" + R with any link doesn't work either c) delete in the registry HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\FirefoxURL\ & HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\FirefoxHTML\
c) Updated Firefox to Version 4 and things are even worse (Firefox crashes now)
But nothing works, can someone help me?Is it using yahoo as its search engine, or switching to yahoo's browser. If it is using yahoo as its search engine, you can change that in settings>options>search and at the top it will show you a button that you can click to choose your default search engine.
Have a great day!!

It seems like I'm not the only person having these problems, but I thought it was worthwhile to share my experience to see how many others are having the same issues.
I have several customized quick keys set up in InDesignCC, along with the default keyset. Some appear to work more or less correctly, some--a good example is "Links/Edit Original", which I attempt to use fairly regularly--don't work at all. Even a default quick key like Save As (cmd + shift + S) doesn't work. All that happens when I try to save as, is the word InDesign in the menu bar flashes every time I hit the key combination. Weirder still, if I put my cursor in the menu, and show the file drop down, and THEN try the quick key, it works just fine. I haven't made any system changes or updates, and this is something that's only a problem with InDesignCC (though I have had some similar issues with IllustratorCC), all my CS6 applications work fine. I've even looked through my keyset to make sure that there weren't any conflicts that I was missing, and there weren't. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or is anyone else dealing with it themselves?This is a symptom of InDesign believing that the keyboard shortcut is allocated to a menuitem within the InDesign menu, most likely within the Services menu.
Similar behavior is seen for Cmd-Shift-L, which is InDesign's shortcut for left alignment, but by default recent versions of Mac OS X assign it to Search With Google, though it should only work when text is selected. Sometimes the OS beats out InDesign and sometimes it doesn't. It's clearly a bug in how InDesign handles its keyboard shortcut interface with the OS as a result of Cocoaization, and I understand InDesign Engineering spent some time trying to make it work and did not succeed.
Perhaps you can look in the Services menu for a clue, though its contents sometimes changes dynamically, so that may not work so well.
(hrmm; I see others have covered the above while I was doing other things. oops.)
With respect to Edit Original, are you aware that you can invoke that by option-doubleclicking? Not the same, but I find it more convenient. -
Default Access Code don't work.
Well, my cellphone is a nokia 2730, and the default code isn't working. And I haven't changed it yet, any help?
Thanks =DYou're having trouble with the security code?
And of course the default code you refer to is 12345? -
Not really a question. I've gone back to an earlier version of T-Bird because the address block format and addressing function in V31 is a total mess. When calling addresses from the address book, they are incorrectly entered. Lists simply don't work at all. V24 was pretty good so I've turned off auto updates.
Thanks Bob for that very fast reply!
But neither "Modifying hal configuration" nor "Using the Desktop Environment settings" (xfce) worked. So I tried the "I don't want this crap, how do I turn it off?" solution and well it works
Maybe I turn it back on in a month or so.. but for now i'm fine with no hot plugging but a working keyboard...
Thanks and Bye!

Adobe Flash & Javascript don't work even though Enabled
Ever since what I think was either a Firefox upgrade (I don't know which one) or installation of Quicktime, my Adobe Flash Plugin is perpetually crashed and I cannot play any Flash content on any website. All that displays in place of the video is a gray screen with the sad-face Lego icon and the message: “The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed. Please reload the page to try again.” (See attached image.) But it will not resolve when reloaded.
No Flash videos on any sites work. HTML5 videos work on YouTube when tested, but non-HTML5 videos won't work.
Also, my Javascript does not seem to be working since at least some displays requiring javascript don't work. Sometimes the display just doesn't work, and sometimes I get a message that javascript is disabled and must be enabled, but it is already enabled (set to “true” in about:config).
I have spent days scouring every help forum entry I can find on troubleshooting Flash Player and Javascript. Everything on my end seems to be in order and I cannot find or fix either problem. I think it is possible the issue could have its roots in the fact that Javascript seems to not be working which may be preventing Flash Player content from working...??
Also, Flash content does work in I.E. but not in Firefox (I do not have Chrome installed so did not test in Chrome). I have too many window tabs open in Firefox and can't switch to I.E. (nor do I like to use I.E.).
PLEASE HELP as this is crippling for very important work deadlines I have.
This is what else I know and have tried:
I have a Toshiba Satellite C75D-A Laptop;
Processor: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon HD Graphics; x64; 2.00 Ghz;
RAM: 8 MB;
OS: 64-bit system; Windows 8.1 (but some auto-check utilities detect it as 8.0 because it was upgraded.);
Graphics Card: “Desktop Graphics” System – AMD Radeon HD 8400 (0x9830);
Installed Graphics Driver Version: AMD 13.352.1004.1007 (Driver Date: 4/22/2014)
My Device Manager graphics driver updater states: “driver software is up to date.”
From the AMD website: the graphics driver auto-detect utility recommended the AMD Catalyst Driver (amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-without-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit.exe) I tried installing this driver, but it won't install. After trying to install, I got a message stating: “We are unable to find a driver for your system.” But Device Manager states I have a current driver, and my graphics card & driver seem to be working fine, so I do not believe this is part of the issue.
I am using Latest Firefox version 35.0.1; and
Using Latest Flash Player: 32-bit NPAPI Plug-in Version: 16.0.0.296; designated: “always activate” (Downloaded new update several times, including fresh install after uninstall; system & web address icons indicate Flash is enabled).
I turned off hardware acceleration in FF Tools>Options>Advanced>General
I disabled WebGL as explained here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
I am using Ad-Block Plus which has never affected things in the past. I have not tried starting FF in Safe Mode because I believe I will lose all open tabs and not be able to recover them (I may have over 200 open). But disabling add-ons has no effect (I disabled all except for Sessions Manager in case of a crash). (My No-Script has been disabled for at least six months.)
I have Windows Media Player and Quicktime installed.
Quicktime is most recent upgrade (7.7.6) so should not be a problem according to:
“QuickTime plugin takes over Flash” at:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3
(note underscores in place of spaces in string; underscores not insertable here)
Disabling Quicktime had no effect in the prior version of FF (ver. 35.0), but in latest FF ver. 35.0.1, Flash videos only display a plain (blank) gray screen instead of the sad-faced icon and crash message.
(I tried to uninstall Quicktime altogether, but was not able to due to Error codes 2502 & 2503. I tried troubleshooting that as well with no luck using methods successful for other programs, including here:
http://www.fixkb.com/2014/01/error-2503-and-2502-when-uninstalling-on-windows-8.html;
& here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-winapps/re-internal-error-codes-2502-and-2503-for/ba5f2145-aa6e-4cc0-81a7-e4346f43b698.)
Disabling my FF theme and using the default brought back the sad-faced icon and crash message in the place of videos on some YouTube pages, but not other YouTube pages (where video was still blank gray screen). It also enabled a still Flash image (an ad) to display on a different website page that previously had a Flash Plugin crash message. I have been using this same theme for a couple of years without previous issue. While turning it off did generate an effect on some still imagery, it didn't fix the video problem.
I tried Disabling Protected Mode in Flash 11.3 as explained here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3
(note underscores in place of spaces in string; underscores not insertable here).
It did not solve the issue.
I also deleted all storage & data in Flash Player as advised. This had no effect either.
I've tried all solutions I've been able to find and am at a loss for what to try next. Please help and advise ASAP. Thank you!!''guigs2 [[#answer-684038|said]]''

I truely admire the efforts that have been made to make this work.
"“We are unable to find a driver for your system.” "
For it not installing, you need to follow these instructions to install them: see the comments: [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/windows-10-atiamd-display-drivers/50944d10-dde3-4e08-8244-d54eb2b1e7de] --> take warning though it looks like it has caused issues for others as well.
Since it was working for some youtube videos and not others, there might be an issue with a particular video codec. DO you have OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. plugin?
Is it possible to try Safe Mode after saving your session with [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/ Session Manager Addon]? IT would test hardware acceleration in Firefox.
</blockquote>
Thank you, guigs2! Sorry for my delayed reply...I didn't realize I hadn't gotten back to you. Update is that I did try a whole slew of other troubleshooting steps including starting FF in safe mode, to no avail. However, I was FINALLY (after months) able to solve this problem just today by pure chance!
The problem was that hardware acceleration was enabled in the Flash settings. I had not been able to turn it off because I didn't have access to the Flash Player settings as long as the crash error message was visible, which was all the time! Today, by a sheer fluke, I saw a static picture in place of the crash message on a Flash video. I snagged the opportunity to call up the settings and turn off hardware acceleration, and it fixed the problem for my whole browser! This has been a frustrating issue because I did not have access to the settings utility as long as I had the crash message, which was always, so my Flash was crippled without the ability for me to fix it until pure luck gave me this window of opportunity.
Does anyone know another way to access the settings utility if this ever happens again in the future? I could not find a way. (Incidentally, I had tried disabling hardware acceleration via my graphics driver settings, but it didn't fix the problem.) We need Adobe to allow some other way to access the Flash Player settings utility when this problem arises since they aren't accessible when there is a static crash message.
Thanks again! -
Hi
I think i have the same problem that most the Mac users have had after upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite (10.10.3) and are connected to internet by wifi.
This new version don´t work fine, or in any way, with any internet browser (Safari, Mozilla, Crome...) when the connection it´s by WiFi. In fact i´m writing this with a ethernet cat 5e connection.
I read in other thread that version 10.10.3 solved this problem but at least in my case it's not true.
And like other users as i read, in some normal actions, like open "System Preferences", appears the wheel round and round during two o three seconds, when with Maverick don´t happens. Probably this last problem it´s a question of RAM memory, but nothing in the upgrade said that you need more that 8 GB to work with normality like before.
Below this you have the Etrecheck report.
Thanks in advance and greetings from Madrid
Problem description:
Yosemite (10.10.3). Wifi don´t work with any browser

XORG: Keyboard don't work right
Hi,
after the last System update my keyboard (under xorg) is totally messed up! The arrow keys,the del key the Pos1 key, the End key..... all don't work. All characters numbers and special characters like(!"§$%&/....) work though. Even the German "Umlauts" are working!
Here my xorg.conf:

sorry for this huge post - but i think that's all needed.... so does anybody have a clue?
thanks and bye
smaxThanks Bob for that very fast reply!

My iMessages don't work since updating. It says the Messages database is being upgraded, please wait while it finishes or Quit Messages and relaunch it later. How do I get them working again?
Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it and test after each of the following steps. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
Step 1
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked
Keep login keychain unlocked
is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select My Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it. Also delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name, whether valid or not.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to CRL.
Log out and log back in.
Step 2
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
Caches/com.apple.Messages

Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in.
Step 3
Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place.
Step 4
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.iChat
com.apple.ids
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imessage
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post your results.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of Steps 3 and 4, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup. -
Chromium doesn't start and suspend, shutdown don't work occassionally
Hello,
I have this problem on my laptop but since chromium doesn't start on my desktop either, I don't think it's specific to laptops.
When I try to start chromium in a terminal, I get a blank window (I can tell because I use spectrwm):
ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment.
[25148:25148:0215/130205:ERROR:background_mode_manager_aura.cc(14)] Not implemented reached in virtual void BackgroundModeManager::EnableLaunchOnStartup(bool)
I temporarily resorted to using Firefox instead, but at times it just freezes up while opening some pages. After that point, even killing firefox doesn't help: the system load level keeps on rising. I used pidof to check if firefox is still running, but I had no output from pidof. After having firefox to freeze, shutdown, suspend, etc don't work. The laptop goes to a black screen state, but the power LED remains on indefinitely.
These might be two separate issues, but they started together on my laptop.
Thanks in advance!

It started happening after upgrade:
[2015-02-15 09:43] [ALPM] upgraded chromium (40.0.2214.94-1 -> 40.0.2214.111-1)
I was wondering if it has anything to do with some X-related upgrades:
[2015-02-15 09:42] [ALPM] upgraded xorg-server-common (1.16.3-2 -> 1.16.4-1)
[2015-02-15 09:43] [ALPM] upgraded xorg-server (1.16.3-2 -> 1.16.4-1)
[2015-02-15 09:48] [ALPM] upgraded xorg-server-devel (1.16.3-2 -> 1.16.4-1)
[2015-02-15 09:45] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia (346.35-5 -> 346.35-6)
I tried to downgrade chromimu to 40.0.2214.94-1 and it didn't help. I tried to downgrade nvidia, xorg-server and xorg-server-devel to previous versions, when everything worked and X chouldn't start.
Other observations are that if I start chromium, the ps command hangs and I have to reboot the system to be able to use ps command again.
Linux lisa 3.18.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Feb 7 08:44:05 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
It's worth mentioning that I also run spectrwm, like SgrA, however i don't have other issues with freezing on shutdown etc. -
Some logins don't work in Firefox but do work in other browsers
I have a couple of sites that the logins don't work when I use Firefox but work perfectly if I use another browser such as Chrome or IE. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox including reinstalling back levels but nothing works. Any suggestions?
In what way are those sites not working?

Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
