ACL Use in SAP ECC

Hi Experts,
We are planning to use ACL in ECC (not in Easy DMS). I have activate the ACL and relevant authorization tab also appears for the DIRs.
But one issue, we are facing in all DIRs. ACL is not getting activated by defaukt for DIRs. We need to click on Authorization tab to activate ACL.
Am I missing any configuation? Can ACL be activated automatically without click on Authorizaton tab?
Please guide.
Thanks
Amit

Hi Amit,
no, the behavior is correct. In the standard there should not be an initial ACL entry from the beginning because several customers complained about it. The problem is that such an iniital ACL Admin entry would be created for the creating userID and so all other users were no longer able to handle this document info record.
So we decided that ACL entries have to be created only if the user navigates to the authorization tab and creates the initial Admin authorization.
Best regards,
Christoph

  • Using the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM

    Hello ASUG Community.
I'm working on an SAP-MDM project where we will configure the OCI interface between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM.  The business requirement will be to punch out to SAP-MDM's catalog from SAP-ECC for expensed items (e.g., no material master record exists in SAP-ECC).
The data that will be returned to SAP-ECC will be purchase price info, material group, short text, & our global SAP-MDM item number.
The question I've been trying to design around is "where to store the SAP-MDM item number"?
I've looked into creating a custom filed on EKPO but now feel that a configured text field will be the best solution from an SAP-ECC point of view (less effort on the SAP-ECC side from a development perspective, no need to regenerate the EKPO table, etc.).
The question I'd like to pose to ASUG is.... Does anyone have experience or an opinion to offer using this functionality?  It seems that I will have to code in a user exit or BAdi to insure that the SAP-MDM item numbers are returned to the appropriate text field on my POu2019s.  Or can this be done using the standard OCI functionality?
I found OSS note 1347656 which references BADI "ME_CATALOG_INTERFACE" but I'm not sure if this right path to go down or if this would be the correct place to code non-conforming OCI mapping requiremetns.
Any insight would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.  Sincerely,
    Rich Wortmann

I would suggest you create a new field for this as you may require thois going forward for reporting as well. Text fields are difficult to report.
Sorry not sure about the BADI to use.

  • SAP ECC 6.0 - Using BAPIs for C# to extract data out

I have had a client recommend a strategy of extracting data usin C# (Visual Studio 2005) to extract data from SAP ECC using BAPIs.
We do have an existing methodology in place using flat files to extract data to non SAP systems
We have purchase XI which we intend to implement next year.
I basically wanted to keep things tidy and continue with the flat file interface strategy just to keep things simple going forward to XI.
THen there is also the security piece, the developer has had to slowly build a profile / roles that alows him to come in thru visual studio to access these BAPIs
I am looking for anyone who has had experience with this and what your experiences are.  As well, what are the SAP best practicies concerning this strategy
Thank YOU ALL who will reply

I think that SAP's strategy toward exposing BAPI is leaning toward leveraging their AS-JAVA stack.  With the AS-JAVA Enterprise Services and standard delivered web content, SAP is already exposing many existing BAPI/Business Functionality outside of the ABAP world.   However, that's not saying that traditional flat files have no place in the future.  Matter of fact, I don't see flat/delimited files going away any time soon.
It all really comes down to what you are doing, you may even end up with a landscape that's a mix of files/RFCs.  Here inhouse, we leverage file based transfers for large data sets such as SAP BI OHS extracts, and daily R/3 FI extracts.  Why file?  because it's simple, easy to control, and you can see the data being transferred.  A file can be "hold in my hands" if you will, at best there's just a few characters in-flight.
As for RFCs, any type of RFCs in fact (Anything from sap .net connector to AS-JAVA ESOA Based ES), are basically designed for transactional data.  Here, you are looking at things that are high in transactional count but small in individual size.  Your client's call using C#, it all really depends on how you are doing it.  MOST IMPORTANTLY:  Make sure you are using a proven, standarized, and SAP supported way, PERIOD.  NEVER EVER go into production with a "hack".
For the high-transactional-count-small-individual transactions, we leverage BizTalk Server (BTS) here.  I'll be frank, we are not using BTS because we wrote it.  We are using BTS because it just works better for us, in our environment.  BTS now support SAP 2.0 connector (registered program ID) and SAP 3.0 (WCF based, direct SAP RFC call, supported by Microsoft AND SAP).  We are leveraging these adapters and BTS (as distribution and transformation) in our environment more and more.
So, long story short:  Determine the transaction type, multiple solutions is ok, make sure the solution is supported!

  • XSD and XML to integrate sap ecc system using PI 7.3

    Hi ,
    Please tell me
1.how to integrate using PI 7.3 XML and XSD to sap ecc to post cost centre idocs .
2.how to post standard cost centre idocs using PI 7.3 to third party system ,please througn some light on these scenarios

    >.how to post standard cost centre idocs using PI 7.3 to third party system ,please througn some light on these scenarios
You first need to talk to third party system about their tecnologies handling.  If the sender system ecc sends idoc to PI then PI can convert the idoc to xml file or idoc to webservice or so.
Example idoc to file is one possible option.

  • Using Data Integrator with SAP ECC 6.0

    Hi,
We're currently using Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3.  Our primary data source is SAP R3 version 4.7   We're planning to upgrade to ECC 6.0.
I'm trying to determine if it will be necessary to upgrade Data Integrator also.  Can anyone tell me if Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3 is compatible with SAP ECC 6.0?
I'm sure there is a document somewhere but I have been unable to find it.
    Thanks,
    Mark Duff

Data Integrator 11.7.2.x is compatible with ECC6. Depending on which platform you're using, here are the documents that give this information:
    [Linux|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a00aad14-ac3e-2b10-3b85-8208305073b1&overridelayout=true]

You should keep in mind, however, that Data Integration 11.7.x mainstream maintenence end date is June 2010. Because of that, you may want to consider upgrading to Data Services XI 3.0 or 3.1.

  • Using SAP ECC as a MDM Hub

I would like to know the pros and cons of using SAP ECC as a MDM hub instead of using standard MDM tool like SAP MDM.  Many folks in my company thinks that it is  possible by adding some  governance functionality & quality tools to standard SAP ECC.
Please  let me know if this is a good idea , if not what are the reasons.
    Thanks

    Hi,
To answer in general terms, It is like going to a physician for surgery instead of going to a surgeon.
There is no restriction of exploring ECC for master data & governance. But SAP's EIM solution products like SAP NW MDM are result of growing market requirements for speciality tools. Read more about customer success stories of using SAP NW MDM solutions at - http://www.sap.com/platform/netweaver/components/mdm/index.epx
    Few highlights -
SAP MDM is designed to be a central hub of master data. MDM will maintain global attributes that can be sent to different target systems including your ECC. Then each of your target systems can maintain their local attributes in additon to the global attributes sent by MDM. MDM will maintain the global unique ID's thus providing a single version of truth for your master data across the organization. SAP NW MDM can be integrated with SAP BOBJ DS and a continuous cleansing/validating/removing duplicates can be achieved. Master data Address cleansing/D&B enrichment can be achieved with real time services present in BOBJ DS & MDM. Enterprise Portal/BPM has standard MDM API's providing data governance capability at its best.
SAP ECC on other hand is a transactional system/operational system. The load on ECC of maintaining global master data will unncessarily affect the performance. Maintaining master data, removing duplicates, running data vaidations/assignments for cleansing data, then adding central data maintenance with data governance is like adding load on your transactional system. The outmost priority of ECC system is its performance and availability.

  • Is there any Data Mapping document Between S&OP ( model that uses supply planning operator ) and SAP ECC that I will help the client in Data Mapping activity.

    Hello All,
Is there any Data Mapping document Between S&OP ( model that uses supply planning operator ) and SAP ECC that I will help in Data Mapping activity.
    Thanks,
    Mownesh

There are standard templates in HCI data sources.
e.g. 1) Customer Master data template is SOP_MD_CustomerMaster for extracting master data from SAP ECC and load it to S&OP
KNVP is the table for customer in ECC from that you can select the fields as required
    KUNNR for customer Number
    ADRNR for Address
List of a few commonly used table names of ECC:
    Product Related:
    MARA – Material Master (MATNR)
MARC – Material Master with Plant Data (MATNR, WERKS)
MARD – Material Master with Storage Location Data (MATNR, LGORT, WERKS)

EKKO – PO Data (Header) (EBELN, BSTYP, BSART)
EKPO – PO Data (Item) (EBELN, EBELP, MATNR)
Pur. Req., RFQ and PO are differentiated by Doc Type (BSTYP) in EKKO table.

  • SAP Personas using SSO to connect SAP ECC

    Hi,
We configured SAP Screen Personas test landscape.
When I launch the mainapp page, the system is prompting for user credentials.
Then I get "System Selection" screen where the system I have configured  (SAP ECC).
When I click on system backend, an new popup ask for user and password (SAP ECC credentials).
We are trying to understand if it is possible configure SSO to access ECC backend.
So, the ECC backend credentials will not be required anymore.
I am not sure if it is possible this configuration.
According SAP note 1684886 - License conditions of SNC Client Encryption, I think this scenario requires additional license.
Any help to resolve this is highly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Leonardo.

The project requirement is avoid the user can log in with SAPGUI and run the standard transaction.
So, the user can log in only with SAP personas user/password and run the transaction on backend with a modified screen with the restrictions of authorization roles.
