I tried to turn it off by pressing the power button for 20 seconds, but the computer would not turn off. What should I do now?

  • Satellite E105-S1402 Running Hotter After ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.40

    Hello,
First time poster. I bought a E105-S1402 yesterday from Best Buy. The computer was running at a comfortable tempture up until I updated the bios per the download and drivers page, http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=214052....  Now, the laptop runs much hotter. Does anyone else have the same issue? Is this something the bios update was supposed to do? Any advice/suggestions. Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You might try to update your bios to v 1.5. It is the very latest bios update (late April 2009) for the E105-S1402.
My E105 does run a little hotter than my previous HP laptop, however, I have gotten used to it. I'm guessing the fact that the body is made of aluminum, rather than plastic, is the reason why it feels hotter. However, what we get with warmth as a negative, we gain in build quality and ruggedness as a positive.
As long as your laptop has not shutdown on its own, which would be an indication that the computer tried to save itself from damage due to excessive heat, then you are probably fine, albeit uncomfortable.

  • Flash plugin version, which level for variable text?

I've built a cd-rate banner for a bank client and designed it
so that the client can make changes to rate, dislaimer and the like
via referenced text file. it works fine for some, but on some
machines (both at the bank and at home-machines of bank staff) only
the non-variable elements show up. I've added a flash detector that
looks for version 6 or better and if not spits to a non-flash
    version of the page.
My worry is that I don't really know at what point I'll be
    safe. Any comments? Thanks.

could it be that the dynamic text has no font outlines ?
Perhaps including outlines will assure it appears on every
    computer
or using device font _name and let computer choose for
    itself.

  • Looking for bios version 1.7 for K8N Neo4 FI - plz help, it's urgent

i bought myself a new K8N Neo4 FI yesterday together with a msi nx6600gt and an A64 3200+ Venice e6 and when i booted up the bios said i had 1gb of ram @ ddr266 in single channel mode. i tried to set it to 200mhz ddr but it wouldn't go so i installed win xp anyway and when i tried to run 3dmark i got artifacts all over. someone suggested that i downgrade to 1.8 so i did and my artifact probs went away so now i still have to deal with my memory and for that someone else suggested to me that i downgrade to 1.7 until the next bios comes out so i tried looking for version 1.7 and after about 4 hours of searching i still have nothing to show for it. can someone plz plz plz tell me where i can find it???

Not to mention if you're gonna buy a 2nd power supply, why not buy one good enough to feed all of that hardware.  Good reliable brand name PSUs aren't as costly as some might think, it's actually a rather cheap price to pay for peace of mind.
As for knowing if it will solve your problem or not, we can't garantee, you might have more than one problem in your system.  The PSU is definitely a problem, but there is no garantee everything will suddenly fall into place after you change it.

    Hello
Probably is known to you that companies as Toshiba do from time to time planned maintenance with servers and all saved data. I am pretty sure it will work again very soon.
As alternative you can visit follow page http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/?page=bios

  • Qosmio X770 107 PSBY5E Bios2.10 2nd SATA3 is where? +sudden shut-downs

    The history of fails:
After 2 years the second HDD (non hybrid) made noises and died a week later. System on C: (Master HDD) was running good (still was the original pre installed one from factory).
I decided to upgrade to an Samsung Evo 840 500gig SSD by cloning the Hybrid HDD on the Prime/Master channel. It cloned the original perfectly and I swapped the discs like this : The SSD stayed in the Notebook on the master channel and the still good working HDD in the box with spare parts to have a emergency disc for future....
like this it worked nearly 8 months perfectly. Then frequently an alert window opened with the message that the RAM will be full soon giving the advise to close some application. With the MS tool "Resscoursenmonitor" I had to kill the processes of svchost.exe and sometimes spoolsv.exe to get the load down by 50% and I could work on till next day the alert window was returning. I did run MS updates more frequent now because skype started crashing now every time somebody called me. At this stage sudden shutdowns (without blue screen) occurred with a followed reboot. There was no intervals for these deaths obvious - sometimes 5 times a day, sometimes not at all.
The system protocols showed at the timestamp of the crashes a mistake named " Kernel-Power ID41" which is not helpful. Hardware or Software problem ? To find this out, I took the original HDD and replaced it for the SSD. The first day nothing happened, maybe because it was mostly idle, so on the next day, I started to make the pc work with all the updates from the last 10 months including Skype, Java etc..... On the 3rd day it started crashing with Blackscreen as well and rebooted nicely.
A last final test should bring up confidence that it is a software caused failure: HDD out - and SSD back in, BUT on the 2nd SATA channel. A miracle - nothing happened for a week - it was just fine. Happy End ?????
With Samsung Magician quickly testing the behaviour of the SSD on this channel, I saw that the channel can do only SATA2 and bottlenecked the SSD.
According to the Intel specification page, the chipset provides up to 6 SATA ports at 3 Gb/s with up to 2 ports supporting 6 Gb/s transfer rates. Also the CPU should support the SATA III but where is the second SATA3 channel ?
Could it be the blue-ray-optical drive ?
Who knows where the second SATA3 channel is hiding??????
Does someone have the same Problems with this sudden shut-downs ?
Does anyone have the same Problem with Memory getting to full?
The manual doesn't give information about it - >> on the Master Channel the SSD gives, according to the Magician Tool, 6 Gb/s BUT after a few hours running Sandra2015 burn-in-test it hard crashed again.

  • Satellite L875D Missing BIOS version?

    Foreword:
The current OS I'm running is Gentoo but I have the original Hard drive and OS that came with the laptop (mostly) untouched.
    System Information
        Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
        Product Name: Satellite L875D-S7332B
        Version: PSKFQU-008003B
        Original OS: Windows 8
        Original BIOS version: 6.30
        Current OS: 3.16.3-Gentoo
        Current BIOS version: 6.10 (modded)
I got this laptop refurbished from the manufacturer around August of last year. The BIOS version as I when I got it was 6.30, a version not listed on the official download page, here). Around August of this year, I decided to make full use of my laptop and install Gentoo, a linux distribution. Granted, I had a couple of problems especially video and the keyboard controller but I got those issues eventually resolved. One issue that alluded me was a firmware bug caused by putting the computer in S3. To resolve this, I decide to flash the bios to a previous version: 6.10. What I did not anticipate was virtualization support being removed by this downgrade. I know for a fact this computer can support VT as I was doing Windows based schoolwork in a VM using KVM (a linux based usage of virtualization extensions made available by the processors) for about 3 months prior to this downgrade. The CPU also shows the svm and svm-lock flags (flags belonging to AMD which indicate the CPU does indeed support virtualization.) The original and modded versions of the 6.10 bios for models C870D/C875D/L870D/L875D both acted the same.
In my research in trying to fix this problem, I've made note of a few things:
During the downgrade, the my flashing program warned me that the bios version I was going to flash to (6.10) was bigger than the original contained on the BIOS chip (I can't remember what it exactly said but I remember that it gave a hex value of both versions saying that the new one was something like twice as big.)
Model L875D machines with BIOS version 6.30 truly exist as evidenced by the following links (As far as I can tell, most if not all these tools take their information from the DMI table aka SMBIOS.):
[SEMI-SOLVED]RTL8188CE Wireless card is not working right       Related information is the third post. (taken from the output of inxi, a system information viewer in linux.)
[Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7111] Monitor does not come back after suspend. Related information is in the first post.
(Alternately here as in the bugreport listed as file "BootDmesg".)
Sims 3 Won't Start, Graphics Issues, Windows 8 related? Related information is at the top of the page(DXDIAG)
WoW Freezing Related information is in third post (DXDIAG)
Toshiba forums: "cant update my BIOS 6.70" Interesting dialog between people on this forum and user..
A different model (C870D/C875D, models which are also on the BIOS download page of the L875D and presumably from the same "family") has the VT extensions enabled by default:
ACPI Flash BIOS version 6.30 for Satellite C870D/C875D (PSCA2*/PSCBE*)
(I've modded the 6.10 version's tabs to show and allow changing of the VT setting: changing the value does absolutely nothing and my system still reports the bios as having it disabled.)
As a summary, here is what I've collected about this "missing" bios:
    Has a version of 6.30
Built on or released 12/06/2012 (Presumably MM/DD/YY as I believe this laptop is a US version)
Does not exist seem to exist on any public Toshiba support page
Working Support of virtualization is possible.
Possibly a half the size of the 6.10 bios version.
Still has firmware bug present in 6.10 (an example of this firmware bug can be given upon request.
Access to any of my logs is available on request (Windows or Linux).
    Final thoughts:
I'm assuming the missing bios is either something installed by a refurbishing department or it is official and was just never posted to the main support page. In any case, I'd like to get my VM back up and running as I'm somewhat dependent on it to do my course work as most of my notes and books are on the gentoo drive.

I have been finding the fan annoying too on this model.(a500-1gl psar9e)
When i am gaming it will kick in after a little to a speed of 90% according to the health monitor. It will shh again after a period of time but will start up again. This behavior seems to happen more frequently now. When i first got the notebook (feb 2010) the fan hardly ever kicked in fast even with prolonged playing.
Oddly enough if the fan kicks in and i bring my browser window over the gaming window the fan seems to slow down again. Could be a strange coincidence?
Anyway i contacted toshiba and they have told me to upgrade my bios and my display drivers. Been also suffering the driver failure problems that is know for this notebook. I plan to do this on monday and hope it fixes the issues. so will try and update you to that outcome.
Its frustrating to have this one annoying issue ruin a good notebook.

THeres what i downloaded, shortly after i tried to restart my comp but it was all frozen. I used the button to turn it off and when i turn it back on its all black. Nothing happens, it just sits there. What the ****? This is the biggest bull that has ever happened.
How can u download an update and now ur computer is useless? Any ideas? Thx.

    I have a P105-S6024
    I downloaded the Flash Bios
    03-04-2009 BIOS
ACPI FLASH BIOS 4.70 for Satellite blah blah blah.
While it was working the install got frozen and my comp froze. So i turned it off with the button and it never came back on. Well the screen is black, the fan works, the icon that looks like a cake blinks and then turns off.
I dont understand. Toshiba said i might have to replace motherboard? WTF! Are you serious my computer was fine before this. I was just playing Killing Floor everything was going great and i decided to update some stuff. I really wish i didnt do this man, this is bull. I dont have the money to fix this right now if it is a motherboard problem.
