ACPI Interrupts occupy one core totally

Hello.
I have a Samsung NT700Z5C-S78 laptop bought about one and a half years ago.
(btw, I replaced the laptop's HDD with an SSD (Samsung SSD 840 EVO).)
Recently, I have noticed that the System process uses 100% of one core, so I did some research through Google, and have tried:
- cleaning-up dust inside the laptop
- editing "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters\Attributes" key to 100 or 70 (HEX)
- upgrading the bios
- installing Windows 8 cleanly
- upgrading to Windows 8.1
- re-installing Windows 7
- disabling the device "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"
but still the same.
Process Explorer says that "Hardware Interrupts and DPCs" occupies the core,
and LatencyMon shows ACPI.sys is the problem.
Can anyone help me to resolve this?
Here is the etl file from my laptop:
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=2CCEBED319172246!328&authkey=!AGKgHDq9w8BqkF4&ithint=file%2c.zip
Thanks.

Hi,
The file, ACPI.sys, is a system driver that is used to facilitate the advanced power management features of the motherboard. There appears to be a conflict on your system between the BIOS and the driver layer of your system. Please ensure the BIOS and motherboard
chipset are up-to-date and they support Windows 7.
If the issue persists, you may try to disable ACPI for a try: when you start your computer. Then, open the Power Management Setup menu. And find ACPI, select "NO" to "ACPI Aware Operating System". After that, just
type Exit and begin the installation process again.
According to your etl file, I found this process got High disk usage:

  • How to use only one core for Macbook Pro?

I know that Macbook Pro is a dual-core CPU Macbook. I know I can do this by using battery only. But are there any ways that I can turn off one core in the system while keep the power adapter plugged in? Thank you!

Navigate to /Library/Application Support/HWPrefs and launch the CPUPalette program.
(If you don’t find it there, insert your Leopard install disc, click on Optional Installs, select Packages, and double-click on CHUD.pkg; that will install CPUPalette.)
It will display two graphs showing how busy your CPU’s cores are, and let you disable one or more of them. Click on the oblong button in the upper right corner to reveal a settings panel where you can adjust transparency, sample interval and history, and chart format.

I recently bought a dual core G5. The G5 isn't recognizing one of the cores. Any ideas how to fix it?

I don't usually have this problem, but I'm having it now with a project I'm doing while working off of Access Music's virus logic template. I wonder if there's a setting or something. One core is maxxing out and crashing the system, and the other is completely unused. I'd like an answer .

It is often slower running processes across CPUs (e.g. 5 processes on 5 CPUs with 15% CPU utilisation per CPU), than running these processes on the same CPU (e.g. 5 processes on 1 CPU for a 75% CPU utilisation). See Non Uniformed Memory Access (NUMA) for some details on why this is the case.
The kernel deals with CPU scheduling. It decides which process/thread to execute on which CPU. From a s/w perspective, one can code "processor affinity" into your s/w to bind a process or thread to a specific CPU. Oracle only does this with Oracle XE - as this is one of limitation of the free version of Oracle's database s/w. Oracle uses default kernel scheduling for Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition versions.
Oracle uses the number of CPUs/cores to determine the processor load it can create. It does not force its processes to run on a single specific CPU (with XE being the exception).
So "blaming" Oracle for what you are seeing? You are blaming the wrong layer in the s/w stack. You are also very likely misinterpreting what you are seeing.
The #1 reason for poor Oracle performance is shoddy code. Code that you and your cohorts write and run in Oracle. And that is a far likelier candidate to blame for shoddy performance, than blaming Oracle and the kernel's process scheduling across CPUs.
And you have provided not a single shred of evidence that points to a SMP scheduling issue across multiple CPUs/cores.

  • Second mac in cluster uses only one core

Hello all. For some reason the second computer in my render farm is using only one core out of eight.
I'm using 2 Mac Pros linked together directly via giga ethernet wire. Mac one is a Quad Core 3ghz. Mac two is a Octo Core 2009 model. Both computers have the same version of FCS3 with different serial numbers.
In the Qmaster preferance pane: Mac one is set to "Quickcluster with services" with the check boxes for Share and Managed next to "Distributed processing for Compressor" checked. 4 instances selected and "Include unmanaged services from other computers" checked. Mac two is set to "Services only" with check box for Share next to "Distributed processing for Compressor" checked. 8 instances selected and "Include unmanaged services from other computers" checked.
I hit submit in Compressor, select the name of the cluster from Mac one, then in the Batch Monitor I see the video divied into 10 sections with Mac one handling 4 and Mac two handling one. On Mac two I see that the cores aren't fired up 100%, more like 30% on average.
I did a test earlier with a dual core mbp, and again only one core. How do I get my Octo core to use all 8 cores?

Solved the problem. The solution was simple, but somehow went under my radar. On Mac two in the Qmaster preferance pane next to the "Options for selected service" button, the selected service was set to off.

  • T440s - i7-4600U CPU - ONLY ONE core operating :((

    Hi,
I am an owner of Thinkpad T440s ultrabook, which has Intel i7 4600U CPU installed (exact model is 20AQ006BMC - the one with GeForce 730M graphic card).
Regarding to the documentation on Intel website, this CPU should have 2 cores and 4 threads (Hyperthreading). But when I start CPU-Z utility, it shows me, that I have only one core and two threads available. Same thing displays my process manager in Windows 8.1 - 1 core and 2 logical processors.
Any ideas, what could cause this problem?
    Thank you.

I have found review of exact same model (as I know, they differ in few other details like 3G modem etc.): http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T440s-20AQ006BGE-Ultrabook-Review-Update.120211.0.html
And there is also screenshot from CPU-Z utility and there it shows correctly 2 cores and 4 threads:
So any idea, what could be an issue? Should I use warranty service? because it looks to me like a broken CPU

It appears this model came with XP. Did you install Vista or upgrade to Vista?
Perhaps you need to install or update the Intel Chipset Driver, or install the Value Added Package.

  • Quicktime X only uses one core on a C2D

On my mac mini C2D activity monitor shows that quicktime X refuses to use more then one core which makes hd movies look very laggy and bad. What can I do to make it use both cores?

QuickTime itself limits to a single processor/core in most cases.
Worst is that quicktime is slow to render movies.
I hope Apple will rewrite quicktime so it supports Open CL and Grand Central Dispatch.

  • Mathematica 5.2.2 uses only one core

Using Activity Monitor, I have seen that Mathematica 5.2.2 uses only the second core, even if Wolfram says that it supports multi-core calculations.
So, firstly, I use only half of the power of my MBP C2D and secondly this could be dangerous for the processor because I use Mathematica all the day for work and this asymmetric use of the processor could damage it.
Do somebody know how to use both the cores?

This is a Mathematica problem. Contact their technical support. The Apple Discussions are limited to assistance with Apple products. We can't fix a problem with Mathematica software.
Furthermore, there's no reason why the use of one core will damage your processor.

  • Motion 5 using only one core

Why is motion 5 using only one core during heavy renders, even when all other apps are closed?
    Version 5.0.3

coz it uses the GPU to do all the graphics stuff. The cores are only used to process project data.

  • Itunes 8 using 100% CPU on one core.

    Hi Guys,
Since today Itunes seems to be using up 100% CPU on one of the two cores. This happens shortly after i started it - for example when i play a song.
After a few minutes it will be reactive again and then i can choose another song - after which it will hang again. It also hangs when changing for example from Films to Music. I have the idea that it happens when i click the Music library - but am not sure. I disabled AV for the itunes library folder - but that didnt change anything. This has been working fine until today. I even uninstalled and re-installed version 8. The only thing that might be related is that when i upgraded to ver. 8 i used the update function in itunes - which didnt work as well - left me with some unusable shortcuts etc. But the app itself was working.
    OS is vista.
Just saw that this is for the store only - Moderators please move if possible.

I had this problem with mount. In fact asking the system for shutdown would set a live lock on a mount process taking one core.

  • AME CC 2014 Rendering with only One Core

This seems to have just begun recently (within the past month) where AME CC 2014 is only using 1 core (out of 12) to render video. No, this is not the CPU Parking issue - I have made the regedit tweaks and also changed my Power option to Performance, all with no difference in AME. Premiere Pro CC 2014 renders the same video just fine using all 12 cores, so it seems this problem lies not with Windows software, nor Premiere Pro, but just AME CC 2014. Was there a recent AME update that might have included this bug?
Adobe, please look into this and resolve it ASAP. Not being able to queue up video renders is killing my productivity.

I just installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 this week and had the same problem, my media encoding time tripled (3 times longer).
The same sequence in Premiere Pro CC (Old Media Encoder ) still encoded at its normal fast speed.
Only one of my eight cores was running during encoding in Premiere Pro CC 2014.
After making the registry changes (below) all eight cores were running and Premiere Pro CC 2014 Encoder was back to normal speed.
    Read Below:
I did a search and found this link below.
Go to this link below and read.
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1506298
After you have read the Adobe Forum link above, go to this link below.
This registry change is for Windows 7, I'm not sure about Windows 8
The registry link may be different but you can still look.
Than call Adobe and have their tech go to this link below.
Than have them suggest what to do.
I did call Adobe back and told them it fixed my problem and they were appreciative and said they would pass it on to all their techs.
    http://ultimatecomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3644
    Just a note,
I was in touch with Adobe earlier this week with this same problem.
I gave them control of my computer (from India) and after an hour the tech concluded it must be my video card causing the problem.
I am using a Nvidia GTX 560Ti, which is not a certified card. I preformed the card hack.
After getting off the phone with them I did some additional test and found that my old AME rendered my sequences with all eight cores.
The new AME CC 2014 was only using one core.
This registry change above keeps all the cores running.
After I made the change all the cores were running during encoding and the speed was back to normal.
    Hope this helps,
    The Video Guy

  • Is possible to connect to more than one core WAE from edge?

    Hi,
I am trying to find in the documentation, but it is being hard to solve, if it is possible to connect simultaneously to more than one Core-WAE from a Edge-WAE

With the release of 4.1, the concept of core and edge becomes less of a concern. All devices are edge and acceleration is between any edge device.
The WAE is looking for the present of TCP option 21. If found, the WAE knows there is a peer WAE it can accelerate with.
