Acquiring images from an Analog Camera using Arduino and LabVIEW

Hi All,
I posted this on the LabVIEW Arduino community but I am not sure it went through.
Check out this project I have been working on for the last two weeks.
It allows you to capture lowres/low bit depth images with arduino with LabVIEW (needs NI vision).
Here is the link
Feel free to use the code (it is all downloadable).

Hello cagell
I just wanted to exprees my thanks for sharing your awesome project with our community.  I am a huge analog video enthusiast myself.  All the best!
Sincerely,
Greg S.

I have an older imac with OSX 10.4.11. Will it transfer images  from newer digital cameras on to my computer via my iphoto program when the camera box states that the required mac OS is 10.5 or above or is that only if you wish to load the camera manufacturers own image processing program?

Which camera are you speaking about?
Why are you on such an old version on OS X?
With the information provided, I am inclined to say, no.

  • Max6675 for k-type thermocouple temperature reading using arduino and labview

Hi; I am trying to measure temperature using arduino mega +labview 2013 +k-type thermocouple+max6675.
    I am using LIFA interface.
The circuit digram  and labview file is attatched
I am stuck on spi read/write palet. How to read 12 bit max reading and convert it to temperature in degree celcious?
Max6675 produce output in 12 bit, and measure 0-1023 centegrade. According to this the
Temperature (C0)= max6675 output (12bit)* 0.25. how to set this formula in labview?

  • How to acquire image from S-video camera

    Hi,
I have a camera with S-video interface. I use a S-video to USB adaptor to acquire the images from my camera. Popular video editor/maker softwares, for example Windows Movie Maker, ULead VideoStudio, etc.. are able to display the video capture from my camera (using the same S-video to USB adaptor). Thus, I think the adaptor transferred the camera to an USB Directshow camera already? However I cannot grab images/video using Labview. I have installed IMAQdx, and I can use the same LabView VI to grab images/video from my USB camera.
Is there any suggestion for my case?
    Thanks.

Make sure you are using the right color channel, in most cases YYUV will not display.  Use RGB.  Also try changing the resolution settings.

  • How can I erase images from the clipboard while using ink and slide or sketches and lines apps?

I've been having trouble with my clipboard while using my adobe ink. Is there any way I can erase the images saved on the clipboard, because have been trying and I can't find a way to do it, it seems like the only option is by turning the selection into favorites and then a trashcan icon appears, but even if I choose delete it will only be erased from the clipboard favorites while remaining on the clipboard.
I've thought erasing the sketches App, or deleting the project but I don't want to risk losing my work.
    Thanks!

I posed a similar question in the Draw forum and got this reply:
Re: How to clear the clipboard and empty drawings ?
In short: you can't erase those clippings, at least not currently.

  • Grab images from a IP camera

    ---BACKGROUND---
We have very little experience with programming for the LabView, but good experience with programming in general.
    ---SETUP---
In one end we have the newest LabView (8?) that is connected to several OPC driven PLSes.
In the other end we have a piece of custom hardware that grabs images from several analog cameras (surveillance machine)
We need to send the image from the surveillance machine to the labview
software as easily as possible. We have access to the sourcecode for
the surveillance machine to writing a custom protocol to send images is
no problem, the problem is the labview end.
My question is if there is a way to make labview connect to a machine
and download images from it, the exact protocol is no problem since we
can customize the hardware completly, a llI need is a connection where
    images come streaming to it.
    If not then maybe there is a way to program the labview to do the following;
Connect to a machine on the internet
Send commands to the connected machine
Receives images in a loop until connection is broken
Hope anyone got any clues as to what I am trying to accomplish here.
    Thanks in advance

    nyc thanks for your time,
Here is my code, along with the C# example code from the vendor.
FYI the sample code from the vendor did not work on the customers machine either, just showed a black screen. I installed VS2010 Express C#.NET on the machine to test if I could grab images from the vendors example and no joy....didnt work.

  • Acquire image from USB webcam

Hey everyone.  I have a Logitech USB webcam that I would like to use to acquire still images.  I am using LV 8.2.  All the posts I have read suggest using NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras.  I have tried to install it, but it says "You must have Vision 7.1 or higher with LabVIEW 7.0 or higher, or you must have Vision Assistant 7.1 or higher installed to use this add-on."  I don't have Vision or Vision Assistant.  Am I doing something wrong?  None of the other posts seemed to mention that you needed Vision in order to use the add-on.  Does anyone know how I can acquire images from my USB webcam through LV 8.2 without having to buy additional software?  Thanks!

This question comes up often. That driver is something that NI provides as a convenience, and yes it requires additional software, as stated on the description for it. As for alternatives, did you get any software with the camera that looks like it could be used with LabVIEW, like an ActiveX library? That can certainly be used. As mentioned in this thread, supposedly RoboLab for LabVIEW has some tools, but I've never used it myself. You can also try the LabVIEW Webcam Library. Kind of old, though.

This seems a very popular question coming up about once every week at
least. And there are many good answers in the developer Zone on www.ni.com
    Check out:

    or
    Pete Parentes WebCam library:

The first is a rather impressive Video Manipulation library with a
nice video capture interface to VfW too, and the second is a simple
video capture library to access any VfW compliant device.

  • Raspberry Pi B+ capture a image from a video cam

    Hello,
is there any way to capture a image from the video camera. I didn't find any media class for video. Nor did I find any Runtime.exec to use a native linux command.
    Did I overseen something?

    Hi Klaus,
There a few ideas in design stage, but nothing solid enough to talk about. And actually it should not have been possible with older ME as it's specifically prohibited by the spec. I mean native methods in Java applications. Of course there may be other means to communicate with native applications, like files, sockets etc. But no direct calls
The date for ME 8.1 GA (General Availability) release is not confirmed yet. But it should happen quite soon, stay tuned
    Regards.

  • Receive image from two web-cameras

    Hallo all.
    I have LV 7.1.1
    I have two web-cameras which are connected to USB1 & USB2.
How can I see two images  from two web-cameras or more in LV  at the same time?
    With respect

    Aleksandr,
The IMAQ for USB driver communicates to the 3rd party camera driver using Directshow.  There is an IMAQ USB Property Page VI available in LabVIEW that gives you the ability to open the camera configuration page of the 3rd party camera provided that there is one available.  Depending on the vendor, you may or may not have access to change the resolution of your camera through this property page.   I would contact the manufacturer of the camera to find out if there is a way to do this.
In case you are curious to know where to find the IMAQ USB Property Page VI, right-click on the block diagram and go to Search in the upper right corner of the palette.  Search for "IMAQ USB Property Page" and the corresponding VI will show up in the list below it.

  • Cant find the pictures I imported from my digital camera using iphoto

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro and imported part of some photos from my digital camera using Iphoto. When it prompted me whether the photos should be deleted from the camera, I chose 'yes'. It deleted the pictures from the camera, but I cant find them anywhere on iphotos. I have tried searching for the pics on my mac using the 'finder', but had no luck.
I repeated the same thing.. took some more pictures and tried to import part of them and then delete the same pics from the camera. Iphotos did the same thing..
I usually import all (and not part) of the pictures from my camera and then use the same option to delete the pictures from the camera after importing them to iphotos. This has always worked.
    Please help. Thanks,
    Kanchan

In the Event mode make sure the sort order is By Date ➙ Descending.  That will put the newer Events at the top of the window.  Check there to see if they are there or not.
The safest method to get photos from a camera to the library is to upload them to a folder on the Desktop first.  That makes sure they are safely on the hard drive.  From there you can import the folder into the library and when you've confirmed they are in the library you can delete the folder from the Desktop and have the camera reformat the memory card.
