ACR 4.6 Download

Background: I have not upgrated my ACR for a while. I use CS3 and LR2 under XP. Unzipping this download gives me the DNG converter, no issues here -- and Camera Raw file Type=8BI. The unzip proceeded to give me an option to unzip a lot of profiles I already have so I skipped this.
I am looking for the normal install button or step? I executed Camera Raw 8BI file and it invoked my old CS2 version.
Question: So I am confused on how to upgrade to ACR 4.6? Sorry I can not be more specific and I normally do file with the downloads..

The instructions are very detailed and specific.
There's no installer, no Java script to invoke.
Read the instructions again. You need to do the installation yourself, manually.
Take the unzipped file, go the appropriate directory and replace the currently installed ACR plug-in with said newly downloaded and unzipped file.

  • Incorrect ACR 5.6 download link in ACR TechNote

If you follow the TechNote route:-
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407110.html
and follow the Knowledge Base to:-
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407344.html
and then instructions to install ACR 5.6 on Elements 6 "Install Camera Raw 5.6 for Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows". The link:-
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4582
takes you to ACR 5.5 download.
The correct ACR 5.6 link is:-
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4626
    Can someone please correct this?

I see.  I have had similar problems in the past with PSE reporting BOTH versions in its filter
list, but that was because I had not renamed the old file and moved it.  I just moved it and Adobe tracked it down some
how and showed both versions as active at the same time.
I did learn that Lightroom's ACR is built in so there is no need to get the plug in unless we do have PSE (for our listeners here).
I did note that my new update to LR 2.6 that the flash screen that first comes up does not say anything about the ACR version like it used to.
You can only see which ACR is in LR 2.6 when you go into Help/About (for our listeners here).
I have not tried the ACR 5.6 plug in for my PSE 6 yet but I will have to for compatibility with LR.  I do intend to get PSE8 soon and maybe Premiere Elements so I can make slide shows to play on TV DVD players.  My wife got a free upgrade to Windows 7 and I understand that Windows Media Player can make a slideshow for the TV, but I don't know if it is the low quality (the unsatisfactory images) or whether it can make really good slideshows for my analog Sony TV as well as HDTV which two of my sons have.  If anyone does know about this, I sure would like to know which tools I must have or can get away with.  Per Barbara, I do have to check the software included with my PC to see if the DVD burner came with something.

  • Camera Raw.8bi in ACR 5.4 download

    From this link:-
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407344.html#PSE6Win:-
"..Extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the ZIP file you downloaded. (Extract only the Camera Raw.8bi file that is at the top level of the ZIP file. Do not extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the Win64 folder that is inside the ZIP file. This folder contains the 64-bit edition of the Camera Raw plug-in, which is compatible only with the 64-bit edition of Photoshop CS4.)"
    I therefore downloaded:-
    cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip
    from this link:-
    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php?title=Camera_Raw_5.4
However when I examine "cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip" it does not seem to contain "Camera Raw.8bi" unlike the last ACR update I used i.e. Camera_Raw_5_2.zip which does contain "Camera Raw.8bi"
How can I extract "Camera Raw.8bi" from "cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip"?
    Any advice please?

    Wrong!
It's one and the same Camera Raw plug-in for Elements as it is for the full version of Photoshop.
Remember it's a Release Candidate (beta) version, so don't look for it on the regular Adobe.com downloads page.  It's at Adobe Labs (labs.adobe.com)

  • Will ACR 6.7 download work with CS5 Student and Teacher Edition?

I still have the student and teacher's edition of CS5 and LR3.  (Waiting for CS6 to take off the training wheels and get the grown up version.)  I've downloaded the trial of LR4.1 and ACR 6.7 in hopes that I can convert and import RAW files from a 5D Mark III, but so far I've met with nothing but frustration.  I think I'm doing everything else right so I suspect this is the issue, but if not I'll need to continue my troubleshooting to see where else in the process I'm fouling up.  Thanks.

Yes, there is such a thing.  Apparently it's even priced lower than the "Academic or educational Discount".
I learned about it a few moths ago and never pursued it further.

  • ACR 5.6 Download Compatibility Confusing

I went in to get the update of ACR to 5.6 and the instructions s

The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6.0.
    Then it said:
The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Windows) is Camera Raw 5.5.
So.  Am I supposed to update my PSE 6 to ACR 5.6 or not?
I do intend to upgrade to PSE 8 pretty soon and I did read that ACR 5.6 does update PSE 8's original ACR.
    Thanks.

  • ACR 8.4 Download link?

Where the heck is the download link - I want to open a Fuji XT-1 raw file

Well, the better question is for what program actually? If you use anything but CC or CS6 this simply won't work and inevitably this would also be the reason why checking for updates from within the program may not bring up anything...

  • PsE 8 Mac, ACR 5.7, no "Open Image" button in ACR?

A forum search was unproductive, so I apologize if this question has an obvious answer.
I've been a user of the full version of Photoshop for many years.  Now I find myself temporarily using PsElements 8 and ACR 5.7 on someone else's iMac.
After editing an image in ACR from Bridge CS4 (the one that comes with PsElements), I don't see an "Open Image" button in ACR.  How do I open the image in PsElements 8?
Puzzled.  Is this a sign that ACR is not installed properly?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply, Barbara.
I am fully familiar with the full version of ACR that comes with the real Photoshop.  That's what I use at home on my desktop machine.
It's the PsElements version that I know nothing about.
The last paragraph of your post may hold a clue, but there's more to the issue I'm seeing here.  As you well know, the Mac version does not come with the Organizer, but with Bridge CS4.  I followed the PsElements-specific instructions for the ACR 5.7 download, as follows:
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8:
NOTE:  You must follow all of the new instructions in order to
successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements
    1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
    2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
    3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
    4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
    Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/
    5. Copy the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new
folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need
    to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4, and overwrite the exiting file.
    7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.
That works fine for PsE 8 but does not let Bridge see, preview or open RAW files.  I had to go ouside the instructions and put another, additional copy of the ACR plug-in either in ./ Library/ Application Support/ Adobe/ Plug-ins/ CS4/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin or, alternatively, in ./ Applications/ Adobe Bridge CS4/ Plug-Ins/ , otherwise Bridge shows me only generic icons for the raw files.
    The
    Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/
location does work as advertised for PsE, regardless.
My guess is I should uninstall PsE and Bridge, re-install both and then update to ACR 5.7.
If that still doesn't work, I'll see if there is a PsE version 9 for the Mac.  The computer owner barely uses PsE as it is and does not want to mess with the full version of the real Photoshop.
Personally, I'll be happy to go back home on Monday and forget this ordeal with PsE.   :-/
With the above instructions—taken from the Download page—there is no way to see thumbnails and/or previews of raw file in the Bridge provided with PsE.  Adobe has definitely gone down the tubes—and I know you're not Adobe.
    Barbara B. wrote:
…Basically in bridge acr, you use the save button to save in the format of your choice and then open that file into PSE if you wish.
Wow! That is certainly NOT the case with ACR hosted by Bridge in the full version of the real Photoshop!
Thanks for the help.  Much obliged.

  • How do I update ACR from 7.1 to 7.4 ?

    Hi
I updated PSE from version 9 to version 11 just to get ACR 7.4 for my Nikon D7100 camera
Installation went smoothly. But I discovered Adobe does not include the latest ACR version. SO I have ACR 7.1 installed. Well, it does not support the D7100
Went to Help menu. Updates option is not highlighted. ???? Cant use it!!!  Why ? My product is installed and registered ???
Anyway, I went to the ACR download page. No ACR 7.4 alone but ACR with DNG. What the hell I took the last one. Version 8.1
Downloaded DNG 8.1 and installed it. Fine.  Well, I can start DNG alone but no ACR visible. Back to PSE 11: It still only sees ACR 7.1
Have I downloaded ACR when I downloaded DNG ?
Should I download it separately ? Where from ?
If I did download it, how do I make PSE 11 recognize ACR 7.4 is available?
Extremely frustrating evening: I hesitated upgrading to PSE 11 for months because of this type of problems. When I finally take the jump, it hits me in the face.

Here are the steps to install camera raw 8.1 manually.
    1. Download the 8.1 zip file
        http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/PhotoshopCameraRaw7-7.0/8.1.79/setup.zip
    2. Extract the setup.zip by right clicking and choosing Extract All
    3. Double click on payloads then double click on AdobeCameraRaw7.0All-290513174249
    4. Extract the folder Assets1_1.zip
    5. in the folder Assets1_1 rename (right click) the 1003 to Camera Raw.8bi
    6. right click on the Camera Raw.8bi and choose copy
    7. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 11\File Formats and drag the old camera raw plugin to the trash, then
right click in the folder and choose paste
With any luck next time you go to open your Nikon D7100 files in pse 11 you'll have camera raw 8.1

  • CS4 downloaded raw 5.7 still cant open cr2 files on windows 8 HELP!!!

Does CS4 work ok on windows 8 I have purchased a new windows 8 laptop and installed CS4 and I could not open my CR2 files so I downloaded raw 5.7  convertor and still nothong can you please help.

Your camera, the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i EOS 500D EOS Kiss X3 Digital.  Has been supported ever since ACR version 5.4, so ACR 5.7 is the correct one to install.
Note that we're NOT talking about the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.7, which needs to be launched and run separately from Photoshop or Bridge every time you have a new batch of raw Canon files in order first to convert them to raw DNG files.
No, we're talking about ACR 5.7, the Camera Raw plug-in 5.7 that you need to download and install in the precise location strictly according to the precise instructions on the download, and only then re-launch Photoshop and/or Bridge CS.
If you downloaded the DNG Converter 5.7 by mistake, that's not going to magically or automatically open your raw files.  You need to look for, download and install ACR 5.7 in the correct location.  Here's the link to the Windows ACR 5.7 download:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4683
    Installation Instructions
After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.
Need help with downloading? See our Downloading Help documents.
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Photoshop CS4.
To install with Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Photoshop CS4:
    Manual installation on Windows®:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open the download file, double-click Setup.exe, and follow the onscreen instructions.
    3. Launch Photoshop CS4 or Adobe Bridge.

  • ACR 5.7 fails to install

Hi,  ACR 5.7 downloads but does not install. Starts to install then a pop up window states "failed to install" and "installation incomplete. Have Design Premium Cs4.

You can install the plug-in manually.
    Go here for Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4681
go here for Mac OS: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4680
    to download the plug-in.
Follow the directions at the bottom of each page on how to install. IMPORTANT: the install location is precise. Please follow the instructions carefully!
There can only be one Camera Raw plug-in in the appropriate folder. So remove the one that's already there, or say yes when you're asked to replace the one that's there (if there is one).

  • Photoshop CC will not open EOS 40D RAW files

I recently updated to Photoshop CC 2014 but cannot open Canon EOS 40D .CR2 RAW files.
I can open and edit them in Lightroom but if I attempt to 'Edit in...' Photoshop from Lightroom, I get a message suggesting that I update to Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.6 using the update tool in the Photoshop help menu.
However, the Updates... menu item is greyed out, unavailable.
How can I resolve this issue?

    Thank you again, JJMack.
As soon as you start CC 2014 press and hold Ctrl+Alt+shift or CMD+Optiom+Shift Photoshop should prompt it you want your preferences deleted.
I have tried to reset preferences, a couple of times, both by deleting the file 'Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Prefs.psp' and by using the keyboard shortcut you suggest (also to both older versions of Photoshop on my drive) but the 'Update...' option under Help remains greyed out (on all versions).
All PS version install by default on the Boot disk and happy coexist. Problem arise when you install newer version of PS then use Adobe uninstllers to un-install previous versions. Often this process messes up file associations of the newer install. I just delete the install tree.
I don't recall ever having used an uninstaller. I have twice cloned my entire boot disk however, complete with all applications including Photoshop, most recently about a year or so ago when switching to a SSD. I don't know if that might have messed things up along the way. I have no idea what deleting the install tree entails?
The superscription versions of Photoshop CS6 13.1, CC 14.2.1 and CC 15.0 as well as the perpetual version of CS6 13.0  should have just been updated with ACR 8.6 you should not need  to convert to DNG for there version of PS. If your Cannon is very new you may need to convert to DNG for CS5.
Re: Photoshop CC will not open EOS 40D RAW files
My Canon EOS 70D is listed as supported by ACR 8.6 and in fact, having now hunted down the ACR 8.6 download link (why is it so hidden? why isn't incorporated into the Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 installer?) and installed it, Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 does now open my .CR2 files directly in ACR 8.6 in Photoshop.
    So problem solved, I guess.
All except the greyed out 'Updates...', which still lingers on.
Thanks again for all your help.

  • Camera RAW 5.6 Update - OK for PSE 7.0?

    Is the
Camera RAW 5.6 update suitable for Elements, specifically say PSE 7.0 onwards?

Indeed it is different. But it appears to work fine in PSE 8.
The method I used below is for a manual install of ACR 5.6 for PSE 8 running on 64-bit system.
If you are running on a 32-bit system and/or are using PSE 7, it will probably be  a bit different.
1 After unzipping the ACR 5.6 download file, navigate to the
\Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder (ie, the top folder, not the x64 folder)
    2. Copy the 1003 file to a new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    3. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats” folder. Move the Camera Raw.8bi file to another folder for safe keeping.
    4. Move the file you created in step 2 into the folder listed in step 3.
    5. Return to the ACR 5.6 folder and navigate to the \Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-x64-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder.
    6. Copy the 1003 file to another new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    7. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats” folder. If there exists a Camera Raw.8bi file, save/move it as in step 3 above.
    8. Move the file you created in step 6 into the folder listed in step 7.
When you open a .cr2 file in PSE 8, you will be greeted with a notice stating that you are using a beta version of ACR.
Nothing like a straight forward install  :-)

  • Presets

I just upgraded from PSE 5.0 to CS3. I noticed that there is a d/l for a newer version of ACR, do I need to do that? Also, I purchased some presets and for the life of me, I can't find where to download them to. I have read to go to users/my name/appication data/adobe/camera raw/presets or something like that and I can't find it anywhere. Could my download of the program be bad? I am desperate, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I use MS Vista.
    Denise

Before you can install Photoshop for installation files must be extracted so that they are in a usable form. The desktop is a good choice for the extraction because it will put the installation files in a folder on your desktop. I might be wrong, but I think the name of the folder will be Adobe. Then you will open that folder and locate the Setup.exe and run it to install Photoshop. That installation process will install the Photoshop files in the Program Files folder. After you've finished the installation, I would burn that folder to a CD or DVD. Be sure to file away your installation code. You can find instructions for updating ACR on the download page for ACR.

  • Raw 5.3 problems with CS4

When will Adobe debug Camera Raw 5.3?
In its present form it will not even run on my two MacIntosh computers, an Intel and a G5!
My systems are 10.4 and 10.5, and I have 3.5 gigs of ram, I have several external Hard drives
Plus the fact there are no useful instructions to guide me out of this mess!
After installing Raw 5.3 in Photoshop CS4, on an Intel Mac, my raw processing is DISABLED!!!
JPEG is recognized, but any raw format images are not recognized!
If I then de-install 5.3, and go back to 5.2, everything is fine!
I am very disappointed with this condition!
