ACR 7 and Panorama Images

PV2012 has image adaptive sliders.  I assume this means if you apply the same settings to a group of images shot for a panorama that you don't get the same adjustments to each image since the sliders are image adaptive.  When I shoot images for panoramas, I set the camera in manual mode so all receive the same exposure and then apply the same adjustments to each image.  I have not tried this with CS6 yet.  Anyone have any comments on this potential problem?

I guess I didn't realize the implication of adaptive sliders. I use the "Match Total Exposures" in Lightroom, then I auto-sync my adjustments. I haven't noticed a lot of problems with my panoramas. Here is one that I did with Lightroom 4.1 RC and Photoshop CS 5. It isn't a great image, I know. Four vertical-oriented images done the way I have described. I thought it went together fairly well. I'm practicing for my trip to the Grand Tetons this summer.

  • I am creating an Apple book of photos using iPhoto and a panoramic image.

I am creating an Apple book of photos using iPhoto.  I have a panoramic image that I have split into two 9.5X2.583 in pieces in PhotoShop.  I want to paste them into facing pages.  When I try to move the images to the book I get images much larger which won't fit on the page.  I am using Mac OS X 10.7.4 and iPhoto 11 (9.3.2).
What do I need to do to make this work?
    Thanks for your help.

Why not just use the full panoramic photo in one of the "spread" layouts which span two pages.
It's look something like this depending on the image size and theme and layout used:

  • Color shift between image viewed in ACR and open in PS

Today I updated Photoshop CC and now I have a slight color shift problem between the same image open in ACR and then opened in Photoshop. It appears to be slightly more saturated in ACR.
I have tried the same thing on another computer and it does NOT have the same problem so it must have been something that happened in the update (ACR was one of the items updated). I have also compared the preferences between the two computers and they are identical.
I guess the next thing to do is to deinstall PS and reinstall????
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Any difference between ACR and Photoshop is most likely due to a monitor profile problem. They both use the same monitor profile, but there are differences in the actual conversion so a problem can show up differently between them.
Is your monitor calibrated/profiled, and if so how, using what calibrator? Or are you using the Windows default (sRGB), or perhaps you got a bad manufacturer profile through Windows Update? (yes, that happens frequently).
To find out if the monitor profile is indeed the problem, go to Control Panel > Color Management > Devices. Set sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as default profile (if it isn't already), then relaunch Photoshop/Bridge and see if the difference is still there. If your monitor is wide gamut, use Adobe RGB instead.
Note that this doesn't fix the problem as such, but if you don't have a calibrator sRGB will usually be close enough until you decide to get one.
If you do have and use a calibrator, make sure it is set to make v2 profiles, not v4, and matrix rather than LUT profiles.

  • UPRIGHT: why does ACR and Lightroom process images differently using Upright

Current version of ACR and LR
    MBP 2011
    OSX Mavericks
Hello - I process hundreds of architectural images daily in ACR. I started using LR but found that the Upright function in ACR is much more accurate. Am I missing something here? Are these not the same functions between software?
    Cheers

I am seeing identical Upright corrections in both ACR 8.6 and LR 5.6 if I start with the same raw file.  It might work differently if you're doing Upright in ACR of a smaller file or a JPG vs raw or something else that makes the image different for the detection algorithms.
Can you provide a sample image you’re seeing processed differently?  Upload to somewhere like http://www.dropbox.com/ and post a public download link, here.
Also what precise versions of LR and ACR are you using?

  • Pattern recognition and stitching images to reconstruct a panorama

    H,
I am taking around two hundreds snapshots of an object of 1m long and I would like to recreate a full panoramic image.
I can basically do it manually (it works fine) by imposing a identical offset in between all pictures but sometimes a small delay in the image acquisition is perturbing the assembly.
Therefore, I would prefer to use an algorithm to do it automatically and find the best offset for each snapshot.
I have seen that a development already exists although this is far to powerfull for my application (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6497). However, it is developped for Labview 2010 and I have only LV2009. I do have Vision 2010.
Could anyone comment on this and let me know if it would be adapted to my needs?
If so, could anyone convert that vi's in 2009 format or provide something equivalent?
    Thanking you in advance.
    Cris.

I don't have LV 2009, but I've saved it back so hopefully it works for you.  Looks like a nice solution - whether it will work will probably depend on the content of your images, and whether there are distinct objects to match up.  I've had a similar problem in the past, but rather than finding particles, I've computed a cross-correlation as the measure of where to overlap images.  You could probably adapt this code to use a different alignment technique.

  • I have an iphone 5 and i upgrade it to ios7.0.2 but my panorama image is not moving when i move my cell? is there any special setting?

i am not getting any panorama image is moving when i move my phone. Is there any special setting??

Are you talking about using the camera application?
I assume you are not ... instead I assume you are talking about a panoramic wallpaper that at one point during iOS 7 development was supposed to move when you move your iPhone.  That feature did not make it to iOS 7.

  • Output sharpening in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and Photoshop CS5

Output sharpening in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and Photoshop CS5
I want to do two-pass sharpening - capture and output - with output capture done just before I print. I do the initial (capture) sharpening in the ACR Detail/Sharpening panel, with Amount slider set to, for example, 100.  Then, I open the image to PS CS5 as a Smart Object, and use layers and masks for further editting.
My question is, can I go back to ACR for the final (output) sharpening pass?  When I re-open the file in ACR, the Sharpening Amount slider is back to zero, but the other three sliders are still at the settings I used at the start of the process, i.e., the capture sharpening.  If I again set the Amount slider to a positive value, then again open the image in PS for printing, will my second pass through the ACR Sharpening panel take effect - will it accumulate on top of the initial sharpening?
By the way, the reason I want do output sharpening in ACR rather than, say, PS Unsharp Mask, is so I can use the Masking slider in ACR, which is much easier than the comparable techniques available in PS.  I am aware that some say you should not do any masking for the output sharpening. I'd like to though.
    Thanks for ideas.

This is pretty much the way I do it, and I also always found ACR sharpening superior to anything in Photoshop. There is the "sharpen for output" in ACR, but you have little control over it.
The tricky part is feeding the file through ACR a second time. I don't think re-opening the Smart Object will do anything more than you could have done the first time. I do it with a rendered TIFF, and have an intricate set of actions that I run in the Image Processor Pro. It's a mess, and you don't want to know.
The frustrating part is how to action ACR. I just can't figure it out. It'll work, and then I have to change some setting and the action stops working. I suspect you need a script, but so far I haven't found any.
So I've come to a compromise: I first process to TIFF in a temp folder, then I bulk open them in ACR to sharpen, then a second process to finish up.
For less critical files I have a sharpening action that comes close, involving edge masks and blend ifs, using smart sharpen which tends to preserve edges better than unsharp mask, and with less accumulation of noise.
Bottom line: I'm also very interested in further comments to this. BTW, I recently bought Lightroom 4, so maybe there is a posibility using that in a mixed workflow.

  • ACR and Smart Objects

    ACR and Smart Objects...
Ok, I'm trying to take the plunge into Smart Objects. I want to control localized luminance as well as localized contrast adjustments (using masks in PS CS3) in a non destructive and flexible way. Instead of the usual: bringing into PS multiple exposures of a single Raw image, or bringing into PS multiple bracketed images (landscape) I am exploring the idea of bringing these images into PS as Smart Objects.
I have figured out how to work with multiple copies of a single Raw image as Smart Objects, but can not figure out how to get different bracketed Raw files layered into PS as Smart Objects...
Would someone offer some assistance, if it is possible?
    Thank you!

    >Would someone offer some assistance, if it is possible?
If you have multiple images (as opposed to multi versions of the same image) you'll need to open each of the images as separate SO's and separate documents, then drag them into one document.

  • PSE 8 Exposure and Panoramic Merge Blur

When I am doing Exposure and Panoramic Merges in PSE 8, or a combination of both for exposure reasons, I often get background features that are double images.  In the above merge, the leaves and some of the smaller branches in the background (look above the falls) are not sharp and some appear as double images.  The rocks and solid ground objects retain much of their sharpness.  When I use the same equipment to take single exposures, the sharpness is usually good.  Is there a solution.  Here is the process I used and a list of equipment.
    Camera: Canon 40D
    Lens: EF-S 10-22mm
    Tripod: Man. 055xwnb
    Head: 410 geared
    ISO 100
    FL: 17mm
    f: 22
    ss: 1.3 sec.
    Mode: Raw
With the 3 adjustment on the geared head set at 0, the tripod was leveled.  The pan for the second of the two exposures taken as achieved with the use of the geared movement with no change in the leveled tripod position.
Each of the two exposures was bracketed to achieve 3 exposures at +2/3, 0, and - 2/3.
In PSE 8 the two sets of 3 exposures each were corrected except for sharpening, and then put through the Photo Exposure Merge process.  This produced the two exposures used for the Panoramic Merge. The Panoramic Merge was then done. Final sharpening was done using the final Panoramic Exposure.
I have always thought that one of the reason for the blur in the trees and leaves may be due to the long exposure time required to get the flowing water look in the falls and rapids.  A shorter exposure time would be better for stopping any movement in the trees cause by any breeze that is present but the water would then have a much different look.
Does anyone have a possible solution?
    Thanks, Bernie

    Bernie,
There are two plausible hypotheses, both of which could be in play here:
    1. The motion of the trees caused by the wind is causing misalignment of the images during Photomerge Exposure.
    2. A bug in PSE's Photomerge Exposure causes its auto-alignment to silently fail on images 10 MP or larger (1 MP = 1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 pixels):
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2320219#2320219
I'm assuming your original images are at the maximum 3888 x 2592 resolution of the 40D (10.1 MP).
(Since misalignment is occurring in the upper-left of your example, it can't be due to Photomerge Panorama, since the left and right frames only overlap in the center.)
Closely examining the image suggests that misalignment occurs on some but not all of the branches and leaves, but not on the bigger trunks and branches, indicating that wind is likely causing at least some of it. I think that reducing the shutterspeed would help, but you'll still get some unavoidable motion due to the wind, since doing the bracketed raw exposures will take more than half a second.
To troubleshoot whether the bug is affecting these images, try resizing the original images to be significantly less than 10 MP, e.g. 3504 x 2336, and then do Photomerge Exposure (but no Panorama).  Is the alignment any better?

  • Using Lightroom and then ACR and Photoshop on a another Computer

    Hi all,
I am wondering how I go when it comes to using photoshop lightroom on my home computer, with photoshop only for additional work yet at the same time being able to edit photos at school (they do not have lightroom) on ACR and Photoshop. Is their away where the changes I make at school will sync? Surely I must be able to do it and won't have to give up lightroom.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated or links to tutorials etc.
    Thanks in advance

Convert propitiatory RAW files to DNG and select save metadata to file, or save the metatdata to file as xmp data. This data will then be recognised by Bridge/ PS on other machines and any processing and labelling will be recognised by Bridge/PS. However these applications are not non destructive, so any changes made to the image subsequently on your schools computer using PS rather than LR will require the production of a new file. A better way, IMO, would be to export images following processing them in LR as 16 bit TIFF files for use at school (and to encourage them to get Lightroom).
As you can use LR on two computers under your license there is nothing preventing you installing a copy on a school machine (as long as the school will let you) and using your license. This can only be for use by yourself, but you could show your teachers how useful it is and you would be able to take your catalog on an external disk with you and use it there.

  • ACR and Nikon D800e Raw files

This discussion is actually a follow on to an earlier one where I thought the issue was resolved. I am using CS5 extended 64 bit with WIN 7 64bit and ACR version 6.7. I verified the ACR version checking for updates and was informed I am up to date. According to the ADOBE help site ACR v 6.7 is available to open Nikon D800e raw files. However when I try and open these raw files there is a message that the camera model is not supported. Any help on why the raw files cannot be opened with ACR 6.7 is appreciated.

Thanks Noel - after several hours of experimenting,  I found the issue. I use a stand a lone software, Nikon Transfer, to download images to the computer. The software allows me to preview/select,  rename, and make simultaneous copies for backup. This software has worked without issue, however when downloading images from the Nikon D800e, it does something to the raw files making them incompatible with ADOBE's ACR and even Nikon's ViewNX 2 software. Now here is the real curosity. When Nikon Transfer is initiated from within Nikon View2 software and not as a stand a lone, it works, and ADOBE ACR 6.7 can read the raw files. Again thanks for the help.

  • ACR and Stitching From RAW Files

I see something peculiar happening on recent stitches.
I have say, three frames to stitch from RAW. One frames a little overexposed, so I open in ACR, drop the exposure to compensate and save. Then I open all three frames in Photoshop>Merge as RAW files. When the adjusted frame shows up, the adjustment is ignored.
I can fix this by opening the other two and do a very slight change to them, save, then all three show up as expected, the bright one matching the other two close enough to get a uniform stitch.
Now I am doing this as a quick test of the stitch, to see if I really am interested, and if so, I go back and open all three in ACR and make the corrections. After doing all three, I can uncouple the bright one and tweak its exposure, then save and stitch, no problem.
    Is this normal?

I am selecting the images after making the raw adjustments in Bridge and selecting Photomerge under the Tools.
I haven't experienced this either until now. The difference is that Iwould always select the images and open in ACR first, and run the corrections synchronized. Occasionally, one would be off enough to require special tweaking so after the synch corrections, I would select it, correct it then click Done. Getting a bit lazy, especially with many panos waiting, I do a quick test and in this case, only one of the three needed tweaking. Running Merge as above ignored the tweak.
Try it yourself. Pick some images to merge that have not been through RAW, and tweak one only in ACR. Click Done then Photomerge from Bridge under Tools.
I've done this twice now, after exiting Bridge and Photoshop first.
    Make that three times

  • How to remove glitters in Papervision3d Panoramic image?

    Hi All,
We are working panoramic images using Papervision3D. We have some shaking or glitters in panoramic image.
    Please check this link: http://www.saadhvi.com/papervision_final/Panoroma.html
How to remove that shaking and glitters?
    With Regards,
    Viswanath
    Have a nice day

When loading images from a server during runtime you can never be sure that there will be no delay.
What you could do is write a function, that checks with a progress Event how much of the next picture is loaded and base the percentage of the current pictures alpha channel on this figure.
Say the progressEvent from your Loader returns a number like 0.1....1.0 (10%...100% of the next picture are loaded)
    Then in an eneterframe you could use that number to modify the current Pictures alpha (like img.alpha = 1.0- progress);
A clear disadvantage is, that the tweens will always be different (depending on picture size/network traffic)

  • Acr and canon 70d

    Hi,
i have just purchased a canon 70D camera and use lightroom 4 and elements 11 and neither of these support the camera for my raw files.
I much prefer to use ACR for my post editing and wondered if there will be an update in the very near future.I am not currently planning on upgrading to
    lightroom 5 at this time.
    Regards  Adrian

Adobe needs to profile each camera’s raw sensor to convert raw to an image with the proper colors, and Adobe only updates their current version of software for new cameras.
If your camera-model is newer than your software version, then you’ll need to upgrade or update your software to a version that was released after the camera became available and Adobe added support, which includes the possibility of updating to the latest DNG Converter 8.2 once it is released (at the same time that ACR 8.2 and probably PSE12 are released), and converting your native-format raw files to DNG-format raw files that can be processed with older ACR and LR versions.
The issue, at the moment, is that the pre-released versions of ACR 8.2 RC and DNGC 8.2 RC from Adobe Labs pretend that the 70D raw files have camera profiles from the 6D so only the final versions of DNGC 8.2 and ACR 8.2 will have the new 70D camera profiles and the look of the images might change, slightly.
I prefer not to use DNG format for anything so I always update my LR and ACR to the latest version.
