ACR bug = wrong .dcp profiles displayed when Camera Matching profiles deleted

ACR bug = wrong .dcp profiles displayed when (some) Camera Matching profiles deleted.
Olympus E-M1
I deleted some CM profiles from "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Olympus E-M1" (I replaced those w/ modified versions in a proper user folder and I do not want the original profiles to be displayed - too many profiles otherwise in a drop down list) and then all of a sudden some some Nikon CM profiles appeared instead in the drop down list... (no mods to .ORF file, so that can't be the reason)

  • Camera Matching Profiles for the Olympus E-3

Lightroom provides 24 camera matching profiles for Canon, 21 for Nikon, 3 for Pentax and a single one for Leica but not one for any fourthirds camera. Olympus in particular is conspicuous by its abcence.  Might I encourage Adobe to give this serious consideration.  I believe in principle Lightroom to be a superior product to that offered by Olympus but until Adobe shows a willingness to support Olympus many dedicated Olympus users, and dedicated we are, will opt for alternative products.  To dispel and doubts about the level of interest and dedication in fourthirds, you have only to look at the activity on the fourthirds forum http://forum.fourthirdsphoto.com/ .
As an aside, I know many cameras have gone into space but check this out http://www.olympus.com.au/images/stories/pr0902002.pdf . The Olympus E-3 is going to do a tour of duty at the International Space Station later this year. This must count for something.  I would have thought it desirable to be associated with such a camera.
Perhaps I'm wrong and action is already underway to correct the situation.  If so, is there any indication when these profiles might be available?

Point taken guys.  There seems to be little interest in LR camera matching profiles in the Oly camp plus a tad of frustration.  They seem to favour a broad mix of products.  I might have to take another look at Olympus Studio 2 myself.  Thanks anyway.

  • Question about future Camera Matching Profiles

Hi all, I am a Nikon D300, Windows Vista user.
Recently I've been comparing Camera Matching Profiles on ACR and Nikon's own proprietary Profiles on Nikon Capture NX with the same NEF files. What I've found is that Camera Matching Profiles don't match when Saturation is adjusted. If I increase saturation in Capture NX's Picture Control panel, not only saturation is increased but also local hue is shifted. For example, a yellow flower looks slightly reddish when saturation is increased. On the other hand, ACR increases only saturation. I'm not sure I said this appropriately, but you'll know what I'm saying if you compare them side by side. Set the Picture Control sliders all to zero, they match. But once Saturation is adjusted, don't.
In addition, moving recovery slider, and HSL sliders shifts color in the way that I couldn't expect.
I'm just curious how the future Camera Matching Profiles will deal with them.

Thanks Eric. Even though those Camera Matching Profiles match only at default settings, they're really useful to me. I found that beta2 fixed highlight transition problem. I wish I could get that fat lazy Capture NX out of my computer soon.

  • ACR 3.7 not available in the Camera Calibration Profile

On a Mac G5 in the Develop module>Camera Calibration panel the only Profile that shows up is ACR 3.6. I have Camera Raw 3.7 installed in Library>Application Support>Adobe> Plug-Ins>CS2>File Formats>Camera Raw.plugin.
I have a new camera that is supported only by 3.7. Any ideas why this isn't available in the menu?

Yes. Because that only tells you WHEN your camera were profiled.
I think mine say 2.4 or something like that.
If your camera has been reprofiled you may have the option to use a older version in that menu.
For the record, LR doesn't care if you upgrade Camera Raw or not. LR is somewhat based on Camera Raw but is a completely separate app.

  • LR2 and Camera Matching Profiles

I downloaded and installed the beta camera profiles but they don't appear in LR2. The profile pull down in Camera calibration only has ACR 4.4, ACR 3.3, Adobe Standard beta 1, D2x and several camera landscape, neutral, portrait. None of the camera profiles I downloaded appear. I had an image selected and it is LR2. I must be missing something.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Thanks Kevin. I guess I don't understand how to use the profiles. The download had a whole bunch of camera profiles. I use a Nikon D200 and it was one of the included profiles. The camera isn't referenced in the pull down. Maybe it doesn't reference the make in the selections but I thought I read that you could select different cameras. Then again why would you want to do that?
    Irregardless I like the effect.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Wrong ipod color displayed when I sync with iTunes

Anyone know a way around this? I own a white iPod video classic 30G. I had the battery changed a few months ago, and since then, when I sync with iTunes, it shows up as a black ipod. I'd appreciate any information anyone has! Thanks.

Is the serial number the same as you sent in? Did it look better when you got it back than it did when you sent it (no scratches, etc.) Apple often times just exchanges them for refurbished units and I wonder if you got a refurb that accidentally got the wrong color face plate installed.

  • Camera matching profiles for Olympus in PS CS4

From where will I get the camera profile for my manufacturer (Olympus). I do have ACR 5.7 with Photoshop CS4.   I checked with Olympus, and they said that Adobe creates the camera profiles, not the manufacturers. Please provide some informaiton on it.

Firstly, you might find more answers in the Camera Raw forum:  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw
You don't say what specific Olympus model you have, but Adobe is releasing a new version of Camera Raw very shortly.  Hopefully your model will be supported by that new version.

  • Lens Correction Profiles: Unable to locate matching profiles automatically

In LR3, I can't seem to load the auto lens correction profiles for my Canon lenses, many of which should be readily available. I used the 24-70L 2.8 USM lens and the 50mm 1.4 lenses on a recent shoot and the profiles can't be found. Is there a place to download the stock LR3 profiles to enable this option? I'm not that interested in making custom profiles at this time.
    Here's what I'm seeing:
    Thanks for any help.

The lens profiles coming from Adobe should be installed automatically when installing LR, no need to install them seperately. You can check for files named
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM) - RAW.lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM).lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM) - RAW.lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM).lcp
    in the folder
    WinXP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon
    WinVista or 7:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon
    Mac:
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Canon
These are the profiles provided by Adobe for the lenses you mention. If they are there, something seems to be wrong in LR recognizing your lens. If they're not, try reinstalling LR3.

  • Not All Camera Raw Profiles Showing In Lightroom 2.3?

Just downloaded the update for Lightroom 2.3 and am viewing a camera raw image (CRW file) shot on a Canon Powershot S50. According to what I've been able to ferret out on the Camera Raw / DNG pages, when I have that image selected and look at the Camera Calibration Settings profile options I should be see the original ACR 2.2 and 2.4 profiles plus 2 new profiles, an Adobe Standard profile plus one that mimics the manufacturer's own converter profile that starts with the word "Camera..." and goes on to mention the manufacturer and specific camera. I see only three - ACR 2.2, ACR 2.4, and Adobe Standard. The 4th one the Adobe Labs DNG materials seem to say I should be seeing is missing. Have I misread the documentation or is something wrong with the install? (I have not yet upgraded from Photoshop CS3 to CS4 so the Camera Raw converter over in Photoshop is still version 4.6 if that's relevant.)

There are no camera matching profiles for the S50. From the Powershot series there are only matching profiles for the G9 and G10, so you should indeed only see ACR and Adobe standard profiles.

  • Lightroom 4.3 doesn't show my Camera Calibration Profile.

I have Lightroom 4.3 and a Canon 6D. I cannot get Lightroom to display my Camera Calibration Profile when I am developing a raw file.
I have dug through the MAC Library and Application Support folder and found CameraRaw. That folder contains my listed cameras. But when I am in Lightroom, I do not see that profile in the Camera Calibration section.
Is there a way to force Lightroom to display my camera profile? Lightroom 2 used to display it.

If the screen shot you posted is what you see in the Lightroom Camera Calibration panel, then they are the profiles that are specific to your camera model.
Thats just the way they are named. You will not see profiles that are specific to other cameras.

  • Camera Raw Profile made with Camera Profile Editor are 54 Ko

And the "natives" one are 110 Ko.
Am I doing something wrong ?

The size of the profile depends on which color tables are included. When you use 'Both Color Tables' option, both illuminant A and D65 color tables are the same, so the profile size is optimized by only including 1 copy of the table. That's why the profile size falls to roughly half.
The Camera Matching profiles are a little bigger because of a bigger table used to get a closer approximation to the camera-provided color rendition.

  • Where/how to obtain camera profiles for Adobe Camera Raw 7.3?

Where can you get camera profiles for ACR?  And how do you load them into ACR?  Is the Sony A77 on that list?  Need help on this one.  Thanks.

Adobe Standard is the only camera profile available for your camera, then, if that’s all you see.
Adobe only makes the so-called “camera-match” profiles, with names like Camera Standard, Camera Portrait, Camera Faithful, etc, for Canon and Nikon and a select few others.  I suspect there is a lot of work involved in these and they don’t do it for cameras they see as less popular or less used.
They wouldn’t be the same as the Camera-Match profiles from Adobe but you can create your own proilfes with an X-Rite 24-patch ColorChecker Classic and the Adobe DNG Profile Editor or using the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport package:

  • IPhoto Changes sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Into Camera RGB Profile

    Hi,
Has anyone else noticed this? iPhoto '08 seems to automatically alter the ColorSync Profile of any photos you import into it.
I have a Canon compact camera. Normally the ColorSync Profile in photos it takes shows up as sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in Preview 4.1 However, as soon as they've been imported into iPhoto, their ColorSync Profiles change to Camera RGB Profile.
Is this normal? How is Camera RGB Profile different to sRGB IEC61966-2.1? I'm worried that iPhoto is/has destroyed useful data in all of my photo files.

If you compare the camera RGB profile with the sRGB or sRGB IEC61966-2.1 with ColorSync you'll find that they are very similar and that the three could be interchanged without issue. if you're concerned about the camera RGB profile, search for it and remove it from the HD (or just zip it and delete the unzipped version). Then it would not be available to be used by iPhoto.
There is an Applescript script to assign the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 to any file or folder of files dropped on it. It's not the most preferable way to change profiles. That would be to convert to the profile. That can be done with ColorSync but will have to be done one file at a time. You could try a photo with both ways to see if either is preferable over the other. You can get the script at Toad's Cellar.
Have you found that the camera RGB profile prints unsatisfactorily when compared to the sRGB profile?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lightroom 5.7.1 Lens Corrections chooses wrong lens info from EXIF when I 'Enable Profile Corrections'. Windows 7

When I enable lens corrections on a jpg image it brings up the wrong lens info. If I try to change it there are only 2 lenses listed—neither one is correct. It lists a 50mm lens even though in the Histogram just above it says 18mm. I then tried the original DNG image & it chooses the correct lens automatically. Both the jpg & DNG image EXIF info show an 18mm lens, which is correct, but Lr doesn't read the jpg info correctly. The problem is the same on all the images I've tried so far.

Most Adobe-supplied lens profiles are for raw files only.  Since there are very few JPG lens profiles LR is probably just choosing the closest one it has which isn’t anywhere close to the right lens.
The reason raw and jpgs have separate lens profiles is because cameras apply lens corrections when they produce JPGs and it would be inappropriate for LR to apply a lens profile when the camera already has, so LR refrains.  If you are sure that your camera has not applied any corrections then you can hack a raw lens profile into a jpg lens profile by text-editing a copy of the .lcp file that comes with LR, and changing the raw designation from true to false inside the file for each profile segment, then move this edited copy to the users profile area.  You might also find the JPG version of the profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader available via a search at adobe.com.
