ACR for LR & PS??

So when you download adobe camera raw, all you get in the zip file is an
.8bi file. How do I install this and use ACR? Does it go independently or
does it run inside Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge?
Thanks much for the input!

The Adobe web site where the file is downloaded from has full details on how to install the ACR file in the different versions of Photoshop.(Its different for each version or OS mac )
ACR does not have to be installed in Bridge.
ACR does not have to be installed in Lightroom since it forms part of the Lightroom.

  • How do I find and download ACR for Elements 9

Having trouble finding and downloading ACR for Elements 9

ACR is only updated for a particular version of Elements until the new version of Elements comes out.  A new version of Elements comes out in the Aug-Oct timeframe of each year.  PSE 11 came out in the fall of 2012 so PSE 10 came out in the fall of 2011.  Look for the last version of ACR that came out before PSE 10 came out.  You can find the various versions of ACR for your computer’s OS by going to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and choosing Camera Raw – your-computer-platorm at the top.  On the camera-raw versions page that comes up click on the links for a late-summer/early-fall 2011 version of ACR.  In my estimation this could be either 6.5 or 6.4 depending on whether PSE 9 was replaced by PSE 10 before or after 9/28/2011 when ACR 6.5 came out.  The way to check is that once you’ve clicked over to the download page for a particular version of ACR, there are two more links on that page, one for PSE and one for PRE and click the PSE one to see what version of Elements that version of ACR is for.  Check this until the version of PSE is higher than the one you have and then one back one version.

  • Most recent ACR for Photoshop CS?

What is the most recent Adobe Camera Raw plug-in that is compatible with Photoshop CS?
My CS does not recognize CR2 files from a Rebel XT. My loaded version of ACR is 2.0. Is there a ACR update that is workable with CS? If so, where is it? I can't find it on the Adobe support site.
    Thanks for any help!!
    Richard

This is one reason I don't use ACR for RAW development. You're forced to upgrade Photoshop to keep up with ACR. Photoshop CS is still my favorite version in terms of its feature set, relatively small footprint, and integrated file browser (rather than the bloated Bridge). I've spent about $100 on plugins and actions that give me the features from CS2 and CS3 that I'm interested in, and about $130 on Bibble (and some Bibble plugins) for RAW development, so I'm several hundred dollars ahead of the game compared to 2 Photoshop upgrades, and I have a good workflow.
In fact, with Bibble and its plugins, I don't need to use Photoshop as often. Since I plan to migrate away from Windows and into Linux in the foreseeable future (I'm finding that PCLinuxOS is very transition-friendly), this is increasingly important.
It would be cool if Adobe made a "legacy" version of Photoshop (like CS, because of its full 16-bit capability) available for Linux, for a small fee. But I don't see it happening. On the Linux side of the world, Krita looks promising in the absence of Photoshop.

Which version of ACR for CS4 on Intel Mac, OSX 10.6.8?

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Camera RAW forum.  You may want to review the updates available at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh.

  • ACR for TIFF & JPEG's

When I open a RAW file in Photoshop CS5, ACR automatically comes up.  Can I "force" or get ACR once JPEG's and TIFF's, are open on the screen?

I had these settings selected already.  I can get RAW, JPEG, and TIFF's to open up in CS5.  My question centers around being able to use ACR for all file formats.
As mentioned, when I open a RAW file in CS5, the photo automatically comes up in ACR (that's good).  When I open up a JPEG, it does open up, but not in ACR.  I'd like to know how I (if that's possible) to open up the JPEG and TIFF's with ACR ?

  • How to find ACR for PS6 for Nikon Df camera

I need to download Adobe Camera Raw for PS6 for my new Nikon Df camera.  The info I have found thus far is not helpful and the normal downloading process does not lead me to an updated ACR for the Df?  What do you recommend?
Is PS/CC the only way to get an updated ACR now?

What operating system are you using?
You should be able to use Help>Updates in photoshop cs6 to get the latest camera raw plugin, which is 8.5
(camera raw 8.3 if your using windows xp or vista or mac os x 10.6.8)
manual downloads if Help>Updates doesn't work:

  • ACR for PSE 8 for MAC

I am running PSE 8.0 with installed plug-in ACR 5.5.0.97
Folllowing some of the links seems to suggest that I should be able to install ACR 6.1 but all the links lead to a Windows version that I cannot install. Is this the version that is also supposed to install on a MAC?

Here is a link for 6.1 that can be used in the pse8 editor.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4729
    Bridge can't use 6.1, since it's bridge cs4.
If you want to update bridge, the latest camera raw plugin is 5.7.
In bridge, the check for updates works, but not in the pse8 editor.

  • Imported DNGs generated in ACR for Windows only show thumbnails

    Hi,
Today I imported DNGs from pictures I've created with my 350D through the last year or so. Some of these work completely fine, but others won't show the full-resolution image; they only show a small 256 x 171 thumbnail version.
There is a pattern to whether it's working correctly or not: the DNGs that display correctly were converted on my old iBook - in other words using Adobe Camera Raw for Mac - and the ones that don't work were the pictures I processed on my Windows PC, thus using the Windows version of ACR.
Another thing I've noticed is that apparently the changes made to the pictures in ACR are not recognized by Aperture - is this to be expected?
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to make my pictures work as they should? Thanks in advance.

    UPDATE
My solution works but I would suggest a few things to avoid a problem I encountered (see THE PROBLEM below):
    - Copy your Aperture Library File to the desktop (after backing it up to your vault), then reload Aperture. Your Library should now be empty.
    - Then import your DNGs in batches to this new library
    - As each import batch is successful, export the project to a file on the Desktop.
    - When they have all been successful, copy your original Aperture Library file back to its original location (after deleting the new one you created)
    - Then import the projects you saved to the Desktop one by one
The above steps mean that you don't have to go through the process of restoring your library (and all the thumbnails) should Aperture spit the dummy and crash during a DNG import. If it does, you won't be able to fix it without restoring the library... A pain in the A
    THE PROBLEM
I was having a problem with a handful of DNGs which seemed to cause Aperture to crash and exit. I couldn't work out what was going on but now I think I have an answer.
The problem seemed to be with DNGs created with the newer versions of the Windows DNG Converter. Converting them with the latest Mac DNG Converter (v3.4) did not resolve the issue.
So, I downloaded the Mac DNG converter v3.1 and converted the existing troublesome DNGs v3.1.... and it works. I can now import even the troublesome DNGs into Aperture now without a hitch.
There seems to be no way of telling which DNG converter version was used to create an individual DNG although I found that it was related to all DNGs after a certain date (ie. the date I started using the newer DNG converter!)
I hope this of help to everyone and that it has answered the question.
    Cheers,
    Paul Martin

  • More ACR for elements questions

After having played around with ACR 4.1 I have a few questions and observations:
Not all the the features described as being in 4.1 in this article
    http://photoshopnews.com/2007/05/31/about-camera-raw-41/
seem to be accessible, e.g. holding down the alt key while looking at radius and sharpening values to see the masks applied. Are these features available from CS but not in elements (It's the same plugin) or were they never implemented in 4.1 but only in some beta copy of the SW?
As noted in different msgs, there is scarcely any documentation for ACR 4.1 except what I can glean from articles like the one above and from trial and error - am I correct in this assessment?
If I bring the raw file into elements, some of the functions can work on 16 bit files but for most I must permanently convert down to 8 bits. How much print quality am I losing for 11x14 blowups during this process? I guess I'm losing none in resolution (PPI) but a little in gradations of color and luminosity.
How does this raw pre-processing in ACR compare with the new Nikon Capture 4 ( I have a D40x) ? Is it worth having both sets of SW? I couldn't find a price for Capture4 in the website - only a 30 day download trial. Anybody have any idea how much it costs?
Now if I would only go out and shoot some more photos instead of nerding out on the tech stuff!! Thanks.
    Chris

    Thanks Barbara - you wrote:
Your printer will almost certainly downsample your image to 8 bits when you print, so you're not losing there. The loss, such as it is, is in the available gradations of color for editing.
Is this the case If I get it printed at a photo printing/editing store (we have Mtophoto here in CO which I really like because a couple of the guys there really know their stuff)?

  • Need ACR for Canon 6D

I have Elements 10 and just purchased a Canon 6D.  What Camera Raw do I need to update to/download?  It looks like 7.3, but looks like it's only for Photoshop not Elements?

You need Photoshop Elements 11 to use ACR 7.3.
Alternatively you can use the free DNG Converter to convert all your CR2s into DNGs and edit those is the older ACR version with PSE 10.
Or use get Lightroom and use it to Edit in Photoshop Elements with LR Adjustments.

  • Returning to ACR for noise reduction, while in Photoshop

Is there a shortcut  back to noise reduction in ACR ~  while working on an image in Photoshop?
Of course if it's opened as a smart object you can return to raw but there are heaps of things you can't do to a smart object...
The onlty way I can think of is to save and close the file and then open it (again) in RAW. And that's a bit of a round about way to do it.

That's the only way and also note that going noise reduction on a rendered image vs a raw image is suboptimal...you really want to be doing the noise reduction BEFORE you render the file. A raw Smart Object would be useful in this situation.

  • ACR for Elements 2?

Do I presume correctly that ACR didn't exist back in Elements version 2 days? I plan to upgrade to version 7 soon but I was curious.

    Yes.

  • ACR for CS5

I have a new camera who's raw files can not be opened in Bridge, ACR or Photoshop.  Is there a workaround that does not include a new purchase of PS?

Please try the free DNG Converter, it converts RAW files to DNG which your version of ACR should be able to handle.
Check this list to see if your new camera is being supported at all:
