ACR for PSE 8 for MAC

I am running PSE 8.0 with installed plug-in ACR 5.5.0.97
Folllowing some of the links seems to suggest that I should be able to install ACR 6.1 but all the links lead to a Windows version that I cannot install. Is this the version that is also supposed to install on a MAC?

Here is a link for 6.1 that can be used in the pse8 editor.

Bridge can't use 6.1, since it's bridge cs4.
If you want to update bridge, the latest camera raw plugin is 5.7.
In bridge, the check for updates works, but not in the pse8 editor.

  • Camera Raw 5.4 RC and PSE 6 Mac

    Hello,
Does anybody know when CR5.4 for PSE 6 Mac will be available?
    Thanks

Do follow the instructions. I followed my previous habit of setting the old Camera Raw plugin aside, prior to installing the new, in case I wanted to revert. Apparently the installer refers to the existing plugin to decide what language settings to use - I ended up with all ACR buttons and menus displaying in an Asian character set.
Then after manually restoring the 5.3 version to its rightful place, I had to jump through some hoops before PS or Bridge could see it. Deleting prefs did nothing, nor did rebooting. I finally got it back to sanity by running cameraprofiles.mpkg from the 5.3 download. However, now I couldn't rerun the 5.4 installer, as it insisted 5.4 was already installed. I was finally able to get the 5.4 installer to work, only by rerunning the PS CS4 installer to reinstall CS4 (no need to uninstall.)

  • ACR 6.1 for PSE 8 for Mac

I use PSE 8 for the Mac to edit RAW photos from my Canon 40D.  I just bought a Canon T2i and PSE/ACR does not recognize the RAW file type from the new camera.  When I tried to install ACR 6.1 to see whether that would solve my problem, I got a message that I need to install a new copy of Adobe Application Manager.  Unfortunately the link that is provided in the pop-up message box is broken (I informed Adobe about that).
Two questions:  Will installing ACR 6.1 solve my problem in reading the T2i RAW files?  If so, is there a workaround on the Adobe Application Manager problem?
    TIA

    Barbara,
Thanks for the quick response and helpful link.  I downloaded ACR
5.7 and followed the installation instructions.  When I opened
Bridge, only generic thumbnails were shown with the EXIF data blank
(the photos open in PSE).  I followed the instructions to purge the
central cache, but that didn't help.  Any suggestions?

  • PSE 8 Mac---thumbnail for actions I install doesn't show up

    Hello,
I am hoping to get some advice here.
I recently upgraded to PSE 8 for Mac.  I have a number of actions (.atn files) that I purchased in the past and use with PSE.  I installed just one of them to make sure I could get it to work in the new program before I installed the rest of them.
The action is installed, it works, but there is no thumbnail image to show which action it is.  If I mouse-over the black box where the action is, I get text that shows the name of the action.  That, of course, will work, but is impractical, and it seems unneccessary, to run the program that way!
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what I need to do?
Thank you so much for your help.
    DeLynn

Thank you, Barbara.  I can see that is the problem.  There are actually files there that show up when I look in the photo effects file (a thumbnail that is the appropriate size), but I just tried to open them in PSE and got an error message.  I will go back to the original file and start from there.
    Thank you for the help.
BTW, I looked for your book for PSE 8 yesterday but didn't see it.  I will order it! I love your Missing Manuals!

  • Can I sign in/out of PSE PC and Mac? At the moment I only have PSE for PC.

If I have two PCs loaded with PSE I can use either one by signing Out/in between them.
Can I do this with two machines loaded with PES for PC on one and PSE for Mac loaded on the other?
    Many thanks

You are allowed to have two activated (signed in) copies of PSE. If you bought PSE in a box one can be a windows machine and one a mac. If you bought a download, about 95% of the time you're limited to one platform.

  • ACR 6.6 update for PSE 9

    To quote the Adobe readme:
    "Adobe® Photoshop® Camera Raw 6.6 Read Me
    Installation
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop CS5, Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9."
I have PSE 9.0.3 with ACR 6.5.0.216 but I am looking to buy one of the cameras newly supported by ACR 6.6. From the Adobe readme, the ACR 6.6 is also for PSE 9.
I tried the update in PSE and it informed me there were no updates available. However, from the Adobe site, ACR 6.6 was also for PSE 9. I followed the instructions for manual installation and downloaded the zip file (for Windows - have Win 7 Pro fully updated).
The installer told me that "update not applicable".
    Simple question:
Is the new version of ACR (6.6) available for PSE 9 or not?
    Thanks.

Adobe certainly aren't making themselves trying to force people to move to PSE 10. OK if they want to play that with PSE 12 but not with PSE 9!
I'm not sure I understand your version 12 vs. 9 comment.
Regardless, in order to stay in business of COURSE they want to develop business practices to encourage people to purchase their newer versions of software!
You want to pay money to buy new camera technology but somehow you think you should not have to pay money to buy new software technology?  Why not?

As you appear to have found out, Adobe does provide everyone a (less convenient/integrated) free solution to allow you to continue to use your older software with newer cameras, via the DNG Converter application, the latest version of which you can freely download.
For what it's worth, I always buy the upgrades to the latest versions of Photoshop, but I once thought as you do - before I discovered Adobe's free DNG solution.
    Happy raw converting!

  • Actions for PSE 10 for Mac?

Help for installing actions for PSE 10 on Mac?

The path says finder, library, application support, adobe, PSE 10, Photo creations but this is where my mac differs.  My only option after PSE 10 is presets.  Under presets I tried pasting the actions in the actions folder and then opening my PSE 10 but this didn't work.  Any ideas?

  • Has the licensing for PSE 8 for Mac stopped working?  Is it fixable?  How?

Has the licensing for PSE 8 for Mac stopped working?  Is it fixable?  How?

Are you sure you're in the right library? You have three library folders on your mac: system>library (Never touch that), your username>library and a library at the top level of your hard drive. You want the last one. In recent versions of OS X it's not hidden, but it's hard to get to it. The easiest way is to into the finder preferences>Sidebar and turn on Show Hard disks. Then the name of your hard drive will appear in the list on the left side of any finder window. Click it and the library you want will be in the top level of results.

  • Migrating from PSE for Windows 6 to PSE for Mac 6 including metadata

Can't find anything in the knowledge base on this.
I am giving up on Windows. Its just too messy and ugly. One of the final changes will be migrating from MS Windows Vista and PSE 6 to a brand new Mac, using LEopard 10.5.2 and PSE for Mac 6.
I want to migrate my images from the Windows machine, as well as the metadata organizing information. Surely I am not the only one with this need. I know I can save the mages in a mutually readable file format, export, and have them on the Mac, but I have a great deal of metatdata and image organization in the Windows version of PSE 6.
Please tell me how to migrate the entirety of PSE for Windows to my new Mac.
    Thanks.....

Some related questions-- can Bridge CS3 search sub-folders? Could I filter for a Keyword at the top of a tree, and locate all files with that keyword in sub-folders?
While exporting files from PSA2 on a PC I am using Share / Email to attach my existing keywords. Can they be drag-and-drop added to a Hierarchy in the Keywords panel? (Either from the Filter panel where they are automatically listed and counted, or from the "Other" location in the Keywords panel where they appear italicized?)
I had deluded myself into believing that PSE6 for the Mac included Organizer. Would Lightroom be a logical option for organizing? Particularly if I want to catalog many images on CD without storing them on disk? Can it be purchased separately? What other options would you recommend?

  • Can i download PSE for my mac

I bought PSE for my PC but my wife bought me a Macbook Pro. Do I have to buy it again or can i download the mac version

Most of the Photoshop Elements serial numbers are multi-platform, you may download and try installing the product using your serial number
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 12, 11, 10'
If wish you may contact Adobe Customer care and confirm if the serial number can be used on MAC.

  • Pse for mac

I have just downloaded the trial version of pse for mac. I have previously used - very successfully - both photoshop elements and premiere elements on my sony vaio. My question is - will I be able to make slideshows in the same way as I did on the Vaio on my mac and will I be able to burn them onto disc? The trial version doesn't appear to allow me to burn to disc only to produce a pdf file. Will this look the same or not? My previous slideshows done on the vaio were great and I just want to know if I will be able to do exactly the same thing on the mac before I go ahead and buy the latest version when it comes out in a few days time. Can someone please help?

Well, “Final Cut Express” can do “individual” slide-shows pretty well...
(FCE’s Motion control lets you keyframe any parameter...)

  • How can I buy a Dutch version of PSE for Mac?

At the website of Adobe all pushes are towards cloud memberships and the English version of PSE 12.
The salesman told me he can't sell a Dutch version for MAC anymore (only the English PSE 12).
If I press the Buy button of my Dutch trial of PSE 10, I come in the same circuit without any possibility to buy a Dutch version.
Since I have given courses (in Dutch) for more than 10 years in Photoshop Elements en Photoshop Lightroom, it seems te become impossible for PSE.
Who has a solution for this problem?

It looks like it’s available within the Netherlands; so perhaps the problem is related to your location, or an upgrade is unavailable. This could be because PSE12 is approaching the date when a new release is due; normally in September/October. It may be worth waiting for PSE13 and then contacting sales again as support for PSE12 will soon be dropped after the new release.

  • PSE 8 MAC save for web not working

I upgrade from PSE6, and I used to use save for web all the time.  Since I upgraded to 8, when I click on save for web it does nothing, no error, just nothing.  I saw in the form were a user had the same issue with 6 and I tried deleting the files and fixing permissions etc.  Anyone else having this problem, or any suggestions?
    thanks,
    charles

I had the same issue. Running in a non-admin account I was unable to do a Save for Web. I switched to my admin account and it worked there. When I switched back to my non-admin account it now works ok. As an aside, same situation with changing the program icon for PSE 8.

  • PsE 8 Mac, ACR 5.7, no "Open Image" button in ACR?

A forum search was unproductive, so I apologize if this question has an obvious answer.
I've been a user of the full version of Photoshop for many years.  Now I find myself temporarily using PsElements 8 and ACR 5.7 on someone else's iMac.
After editing an image in ACR from Bridge CS4 (the one that comes with PsElements), I don't see an "Open Image" button in ACR.  How do I open the image in PsElements 8?
Puzzled.  Is this a sign that ACR is not installed properly?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply, Barbara.
I am fully familiar with the full version of ACR that comes with the real Photoshop.  That's what I use at home on my desktop machine.
It's the PsElements version that I know nothing about.
The last paragraph of your post may hold a clue, but there's more to the issue I'm seeing here.  As you well know, the Mac version does not come with the Organizer, but with Bridge CS4.  I followed the PsElements-specific instructions for the ACR 5.7 download, as follows:
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8:
NOTE:  You must follow all of the new instructions in order to
successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements
    1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
    2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
    3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
    4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
    Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/
    5. Copy the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new
folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need
    to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4, and overwrite the exiting file.
    7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.
That works fine for PsE 8 but does not let Bridge see, preview or open RAW files.  I had to go ouside the instructions and put another, additional copy of the ACR plug-in either in ./ Library/ Application Support/ Adobe/ Plug-ins/ CS4/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin or, alternatively, in ./ Applications/ Adobe Bridge CS4/ Plug-Ins/ , otherwise Bridge shows me only generic icons for the raw files.
    The
    Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/
location does work as advertised for PsE, regardless.
My guess is I should uninstall PsE and Bridge, re-install both and then update to ACR 5.7.
If that still doesn't work, I'll see if there is a PsE version 9 for the Mac.  The computer owner barely uses PsE as it is and does not want to mess with the full version of the real Photoshop.
Personally, I'll be happy to go back home on Monday and forget this ordeal with PsE.   :-/
With the above instructions—taken from the Download page—there is no way to see thumbnails and/or previews of raw file in the Bridge provided with PsE.  Adobe has definitely gone down the tubes—and I know you're not Adobe.
    Barbara B. wrote:
…Basically in bridge acr, you use the save button to save in the format of your choice and then open that file into PSE if you wish.
Wow! That is certainly NOT the case with ACR hosted by Bridge in the full version of the real Photoshop!
Thanks for the help.  Much obliged.

  • Camera RAW 5.6 Update - OK for PSE 7.0?

    Is the
Camera RAW 5.6 update suitable for Elements, specifically say PSE 7.0 onwards?

Indeed it is different. But it appears to work fine in PSE 8.
The method I used below is for a manual install of ACR 5.6 for PSE 8 running on 64-bit system.
If you are running on a 32-bit system and/or are using PSE 7, it will probably be  a bit different.
1 After unzipping the ACR 5.6 download file, navigate to the
\Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder (ie, the top folder, not the x64 folder)
    2. Copy the 1003 file to a new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    3. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats” folder. Move the Camera Raw.8bi file to another folder for safe keeping.
    4. Move the file you created in step 2 into the folder listed in step 3.
    5. Return to the ACR 5.6 folder and navigate to the \Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-x64-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder.
    6. Copy the 1003 file to another new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    7. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats” folder. If there exists a Camera Raw.8bi file, save/move it as in step 3 above.
    8. Move the file you created in step 6 into the folder listed in step 7.
When you open a .cr2 file in PSE 8, you will be greeted with a notice stating that you are using a beta version of ACR.
Nothing like a straight forward install  :-)
