ACR/LR3.3 and Nikon D7000 - magenta color mismatch?

I recently purchased the Nikon D7000. The NEF RAW files are not supported in current versions of LR and CS5.
Downloaded and installed LR 3.3RC. Also downloaded and installed ACR 6.3R1.
Both work with the D7000 NEF-files with ONE exception. If I shoot a "Multiple Exposure" (one feature of the D7000)  the resulting image in both LR and ACR displays in strong "pink"/magenta. All other images display correctly.
If I open the pink images in Nikon Capture NX2 2.2.6 they open correctly.
If I use the White Balance tool (pipette) in LR, I can bring the image back to "almost normal" but the WB values then are Temp: 2150, Tint: -138. Conclusion: the Multi Exposure Image from the D7000 is completely mismatched by LR/ACR. But they are correctly matched by Capture NX2.
This obviously needs to be corrected before final release.
Has anyone else expreienced the same? Is there a workaround?

Might be better to post this over here:  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

  • Shooting with Nikon D7000 the color is awful. Where do i begin?

The clips generated from the recently new Nikon D7000 are very hard to correct. I've been using the 3-way color corrector in FCP for years and nothing seems to work on the nikon movie files. The skin tones are flat and almost gray. the over all color is lifeless. And shadow detail is lost even though the image is largely over exposed. Anyone else having this trouble. Of course I am editing these clips alongside clips from the Canon 5D Mark ll.

I have to be more specific the original Nikon D7000 clips are too yellow and too blue which makes green I can't do anything to make these look good. ahhh!

  • Aperture 2 and Nikon D7000 RAW files. Do I need to upgrade to Aperture 3?

I currently have a Nikon D70 with a Nikon D7000 on its way. I want to know if Aperture 2 will process Nikon D7000 RAW files. I searched Apple support and these discussions. I only could find confirmation that Aperture 3 now handles it. But I have not found anything that confirms that Aperture 2 indeed did NOT get an update to handle the D7000 RAW files.
    Can someone confirm this?
    Thanks.

For future reference, all the cameras listed on the Aperture RAW Support web page that have the double asterisk "**" require Aperture 3.

  • Aperture 2 and Nikon D7000

Uploading NEF files from my new Nikon D7000 to Aperture 2 gives me an "Unsupported Image Format" error message. JPGs are fine. I do not see any software updates from Apple to resolve this problem. I'm hoping that I don't need to upgrade to Aperture 3 and am not sure that this would rectify the problem anyway. Any suggestions?

I've been shooting in RAW with my D7000 even before this update. After installing it though, it still showed a bunch of "Unsupported Image Format" errors for a bunch of my RAW files. Read this to fix the problem.

  • Can't Tether Between LR 4.2 64bit and Nikon D7000

    Hi all.
I was able to tether from the same camera, to the very same PC with the exact same cord when I had LR 3.
When version 4 came out and I updated I didn't had the need to tether. Now I've been hired to capture a promo for a fashion event, and wanted to bring my laptop along, so I could make sure everything goes great.
After 9 and a half hours of tinkering with 5 different cables, I haven't found why the hell LR 4 is not seeing my D7000.
I uninstalled the camera's driver from my PC and let the plug and play find it again, and it even tells me my D7000 is ready to use. It basically appears as another storage unit, but I can't tether it to LR 4.2. I even tried plugin the USB cord to 8 different USB ports. It's worth mentioning that since I installed LR 4, I've never had any problem with any other software. Hence, there hasn't been any O.S re installs or anything of the kind.
Before you ask me why I keep using v4.2 and haven't updated to 4.3 it's simply because I gave up on trying to install a 700+mb update that is broken. Tried the "Unblock" option from the ".exe" properties dialog, and nothing changes. Runned it as Admin, nothing. Cpy-pasted it to the root folder where 4.2 is currently installed (just in case), and still, no luck. I've grew tired of the installer telling me to free more space when there are 2.7 TB available for it to use.
So, leaving aside the update failure, I need LR 4.2 to let me tether with my Nikon D7000, just as LR 3 let me.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Max Kimmich

  • Nikon D7000 LR4 Camera Raw color issues

    I just upgraded my camera from a Nikon D70 to a D7000.
Problem: When I process the RAW /NEF files with Adobe Lightroom 4 the color is terrible. By that I mean, the images look dull, dark and have no pop. The coloring is not even close to what is displayed on the Nikon camera screen.
When I use Nikon View NX: The software which is pakaged with the camera produces an image which is, or almost identical to the image on the camera after the photo is taken.
I like the funcionality of lightroom better than ViewNX, so what I have been doing is processing with ViewNX and then exporting to a TIFF.  Opening up LR4 and then importing and cataloging.  This process is a pain and time consuming.
I also have found LR3 does a better job than LR4 at processing the images.
Is there a way I can tweak or download corrected ACR settings to match my Nikon D7000.

I have figured out myself the profile correction problem for my Nikon D7000 NEF Problem. It almost match to the one in NX2 or even on camera LCD.  the following is what I have adjusted in my LR4
    Brightness +1.00
    Contrasts +28~33
    Shadow +40~55
    Black -25
Don't Forget change the Profile setting on Camera Calibration under the Develop mode to match the what you set on your camera. I always shot on Standard mode, therefore I set the Profile to Camera Standard.
The following is the way I figure it out.
    1.  I imported the photo under "Zeroed" at Import page under Develop setting > Lightroom Genaral Present > Zeroed
    2.  Open one of the imported picture on Develop mode
    3.  Scroll down to Camera Calibration change the profile setting to match they one you set on your camera, in this case I choose Camera standard.
    4. Under the Camera Calibration>Process you will see 2012(Present), changed it to 2010, and change it back to 2012 (present again)
    5. You will notice that the develop setting automaticly change to the following (Brightness -1.00, contrasts -33 and black +25) Let say this is what lightroom did to your picture( from Nikon D7000 NEF)
    6. and then Change everything back to " 0 " will you find your picture nearly close to the one you saw on NX2.0 or Nikon LCD
If your found the step above is hard to follow, please just change the Brightness +1.00, Contrasts +33 and Black -25, and dont forget adjust a bit of shadow as well.
for the people who dont know what Nikon done to Nikon D7000, please dont be expert to say "you dont know RAW".  please read more reviews first before helping people who are new to RAW or even stuck on RAW.  This forum is helping people with our knowledge, is not to make people need help to get more confuse.
For Nikon D7000 user.... Remember turn D-Lightning off.... this is one of the problem will cause LR4 change your tone to more darker, especially on portrait photoshot. Hopefully Adobe will realease the new update soon to match the new system inside Nikon camera.
Please note that the step above only Apply for Nikon D7000 and Lightroom 4 only. And it is not 100% correct to what you seen on your camera, at least is 80~90% Match!!

  • Magenta Printing Issues in LR3 and CS5

    Hi,
I have seen this issues mentioned in various forms over the last year or so but I have yet to see a real solution to the problem I am now experiencing
    History:
I was running a Vista 64b OS and using LR 2.X along with Epson's r2880 printer.  I was able to print using LR 2.X without any issues both in B&W and color using the various paper iccs provided by the vendors (Moab for example)  I never had the Magenta printing issues.
    Fast Forward:
I recently installed LR3 and CS5 under the same OS (Vista 64b) and when I printed in color it is obviously Magenta heavy.   I am following the same practices as before of having LR3 manage the color (using one of the vendor iccs) and setting "No Color Managment" in the printer driver UI.  Doing this gives me terrible crazy Magenta prints.  I have un-installed and re-installed the Epson Printer drivers numerous times with no positive effect.  The causal effect was installing CS5 and LR3. These were the only changes made.
I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and had found a solution other than switching over to a Mac.
This is very frustrating and depressing.
    Thanks,
    David.
    [email protected]

Thanks for the great Feed back.  I was able to fix the printing problem by doing several things:
    1) Re-install the printer drivers
    2) Runnning the printer through nozzle checks and cleaning cycles. Had to peform the cleaning cycle 3 times.
    3) Replacing the yellow ink cartridge.  The ink level was showing about 15% remaining but in fact I was out of yellow ink. I had read that the ink levels were not always accurate.
So for me this issue has been solved.  Thanks for the help.

  • Which Raw plug-in using Nikon D7000 and Photoshop Elements 7 for importing NEF files?

Cannot import NEF files from Nikon D7000.
Which Raw plug-in is avalible for Adobe Photoshop Elements 7? According to Help sites version 6.3 is needed, But is it kompatible with Elements /??
    Please help!

It’s not possible to update PSE7 beyond ACR 5.5. You have two alternatives:
    1) Upgrade to PSE 10. 2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your NEF files to the Adobe Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original NEF’s as backups)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 6.5
Mac download click here DNG Converter 6.5

  • Nikon D7000 .MOV files in Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5

I recently upgraded from Production Premium CS5 to CS5.5. Initially Nikon D7000 .MOV files used in previous CS5 Premiere Pro project would not play well in CS5.5. Now .MOV files do work in both PP and AE CS5.5. Here are the steps I followed. Not recommending you follow my steps exactly, just providing info for those that are interested.
    1.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5 and open previous PP CS5 project, convert project to CS5.5 and rename project file as not to replace previous CS5 project file.
    a.       At this point .MOV files do not play in new project or in AE CS5.5
    b.      Close Premiere Pro and After Effect if still running.
    2.       Using Adobe Bridge CS5.5, batch rename;
    a.       Make copies of original files to new folder location while renaming file extension from .MOV to .mpg
    b.      Let Adobe Bridge finish creating all new thumbnail previews.
    c.       Leave Bridge running in background.
    3.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5, let Premiere finish recreating thumbnail previews if needed.
    a.       Attempt to preview existing .MOV file in project. It worked for me.
    b.      Attempt to play sequence containing .MOV files. It worked for me.
    c.       Attempt to play or modify sequence .MOV files in AE CS5.5 via Dynamic Link within Premiere. It worked for me.
    d.      Close Premiere Pro project and AE projects if open.
    4.       Create new Premiere Pro project and sequence
    a.       Import a different Nikon D7000 .MOV file not previously used or renamed.
    b.      Attempt to play this newly imported .MOV file. This worked for me as well.
    c.       The new, previously un-renamed .MOV file also worked in AE CS5.5 for me.
I will perform additional tests but at the moment Nikon D7000 .MOV files are working for me in CS5.5 after initially performing a batch rename in Bridge CS5.5 from .MOV to .mpg and letting Bridge create preview files. Even .MOV files not renamed now work.
An example of Nikon D7000 footage edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, After Effects CS5.5, and Sound Booth CS5 can be seen on my blog, http://stevelandonsmyth.typepad.com/steve-landon-smyths-blog/2011/07/my-first-hd -video-shoot-with-nikon-d7000.html

    Hello,
I see 2 post in this thread from Todd that say they are working on a fix and it should be out soon.  One is from July, the other from August.  It is now Sept 7th and I still see no patches or fixes for any bugs.  I spent 400 dollars on an upgrade, but is this upgrade going to be supported?
This is making me rethink upgrading to the .5's in the future.
It is a minor bug to most, but in that sense it should be an easy quick fix. Am I wrong? Is this really a complicated issue?
I apologize if this comes off like a rant, but thats kinda what it is.  It is not hard to batch rename files, but its a pain to have to relink all those files in PP.

  • I have just purchased a Nikon D7000 and iPhoto downloads jpgs but does not show them. It shows an empty frame. If you double click the frame it will show the image. I have tried importing images from the Nikon provided software and the same thing happens.

I just purchased a Nikon D7000. However, iPhoto does not display JPEG images. I seems to download ok, but displays only an empty box. Double clicking on the box opens the image in a single display window. It does the same thing when importing from Nikon's supplied software. Forget about handling RAW files. Now, I'm having difficulty importing JPGs from Photoshop files for slide shows or use in iMovie.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • ACR 4.3.1 and Olympus E-3: colors different

I am comparing the colors as output by ACR 4.3.1 (as used in LightRoom) and Olympus Studio 2 (the Olympus tool). The colors obtained by processing a RAW file in the two tools are noticeably different. Sometimes, LightRoom seems to produce more realistic colors; other times, the Olympus Studio colors are better. In particular, LightRoom colors are often too yellow-ish, while Olympus Studio colors have more intense (and occasionally exaggerated) reds.
Has Adobe performed calibration of ACR 4.3.1 for the Olympus E-3? With what target, maximum fidelity in color reproduction? Are there settings one can use in LR (and ACR 4.3.1) to obtain colors similar to the Olympus? I tried adjusting the settings in the Camera Calibration section, but with my limited technique I was not able to obtain a good match.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    All the best,
    Luca

That is to be expected. ACR uses a different methodology from other converters to produce its profiles.
This is the process if you are interested: http://inside-lightroom.com/profiling.php
For Calibration you might want to look at the Fors Script http://fors.net/chromoholics/index.php or the Rags Script http://www.rags-int-inc.com/PhotoTechStuff/AcrCalibration/ and also the original article by Bruce Fraser.
For colour profiles you might like to try Huelight as well http://www.huelight.com

  • Color mismatch between CS4 and Canon PIXMA PRO6500

Hi there! I am trying to research if anyone else is having a problem with color mismatch between CS4 and their printer. Last night I printed a .tiff image out of CS4 to my Canon PRO6500 printer and the sky came out purple / pink! It was supposed to be a stormy grey color. I have the color management turned off on the printer settings. I have CS4 manages color turned on and the correct ICC profile selected for the paper I am using. When I do a soft proof in CS4 the image looks fine, but when I print I get something completely different, mostly with the sky (purple / pink) color! Just for the heck of it I did a Print Preview under my Page Setup and guess what, the sky actually shows purple / pink! So I have no idea what's going on. I checked all my setting, ink cartridges, tried different paper with the appropriate ICC profile and no dice. Still have a goofy looking sky! I thought PROOFING the image is supposed to show you how the printed image is going to look? apparently it doesn't because it's not. The Print Preview has an accurate representation of the print but I have no idea where the pink / purple sky is coming from. They are supposed to be stormy clouds as I said. I appreciate any help anyone can provide .
    Sabciu

I have the color management turned off on the printer settings.
But do you have a measured color profile based on a sample print? Most likely not, so this is not doing anything in your favor. The current profile may present the defaults for a given printer, but not the actual density based on your other printer settings. So by all means, unless you can be sure to obey a full calibration throughout, turn on the printer CM. Also, since it is a Pro model, you may actualyl have to use the dedicated RIP software that was bundled with it to get correct results, not the default windows print engine.
