ACR version mismatch - two versions show as installed
Photoshop CS - installed 2.4 then attempted to install version supporting Nikon D70s. When 4.4.1 reported as not compatible, moved it out of File Formats and moved 2.4 back in. "System Info" now shows both installed (only one is in place) and displays mismatch error message.
It appears Photoshop saw 4.4.1 and set a flag that was not unset.
Suggestions???
ACR 4.4.1 is only compatible with Photoshop CS3. You must still have it somewhere on your computer. It has to be deleted from your computer. The only version of Camera Raw that is available for Photoshop CS is version 2.4. There will be no more updates. However, if you download the 4.4.1 version of the DNG converter and convert your files to Digital negative (DNG), you will be able to open those files with Photoshop CS and Camera Raw (ACR) 2.4.

Did a clean Mountain Lion install on Mac Pro. Two apps show as installed (Twitter and Wunderlist) after the install, and they are most defintiely not installed, though I would like them to be ...The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. The Mac App Store (MAS) can see its apps installed on mounted partitions and ext/int HDDs. Is there a backup of your previous installation mounted on your Mac with these two apps? If so, that is why the MAS sees them as installed.
Two ways to get the apps on your reinstall of Mt Lion;
1. Locate the apps on the mounted drive and drag & drop the apps to the Apps folder on your Mt Lion boot drive
2. Dismount the mounted drive with the apps, so the MAS doesn't see them and download them again from your list on the Purchased pane -
Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago, which I modified on 11/4/13, and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers. When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed and there doesn't seem to be a way to reinstall it. When I checked "About Numbers" on my MacBook it shows "Numbers '09 version 2.3". Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version installed?
Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?
While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
- Can I uninstall the older version?
- Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
- If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.

I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks -
I show 3 versions of PS installed: PS CC, PS CC (64 bit) and PS CC (2014). Can I just delete the 1st 2 and only keep the latest?

When Creative Cloud updated a few days ago (Win7) it reported I had no installed apps.
In Lightroom I keep getting messages that a new version is available. Installed it from CC and it installed without error, CC shows I installed it, but it simply fails to run.
How do I get CC to find apps installed under the previous version?
And how do I get Lightroom CC to run?
PeterI still don't know how to get CC to find that I have Photoshop CC installed, but running Creative Cloud, going to Preferences and signing out, then signing in again got Lightroom CC to work.
Since Photoshop CC is still working despite apparently not being installed things are now OK, at least for the moment. But I'm not feeling at all happy with Adobe. -
I think everytime firefox update itself, it doesn't clean the old version's register key so there're both two version showing up in the control panel's program list.
When you uninstall the old version, the new one disappears too.Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
(1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
(2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.

Lightroom 5.7 not opening Photoshop CC2014 - says it needs newer ACR version

Well, a new problem has come up. I've got a CC membership, and all current versions of Lightroom, PS CC 2014, PS CC, and PS CS6. ACR version currently installed on the system is 8.7.1. System is Windows 7.
All was working a-okay until today. Now, when I try to open a RAW file from Lightroom into Photoshop, I get the following error message:
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.7 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of the Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0"
And then it prompts me to cancel or open anyway. Opening either fails or prompts me to create a new PSD file within Photoshop and does not open ACR in Photoshop. When I select multiple files to photomerge (which I do a lot for panos), opening in Photoshop fails completely.
Well, as stated above I have all current versions of the software installed. In attempts to rectify the problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom, separately downloaded and reinstalled ACR v8.7.1. Photoshop CC pop up menu indicates all software is up to date.
I have no idea what is going on or how to rectify this issue. Regarding the other question about ACR 8.7.1, Adobe offers this as a separate download that I found on their site. Assuming the Adobe CC automated installation of newer software versions went awry for some reason, I downloaded this and installed it separately.
I am now going through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling LR and PS softwares to see if a full reinstall resolves the issue. -
I have the iphone 5S and it doesn't seem to even connect to my macbook because when i connect it to my phone, a message on my laptop shows that I have to install he new version of itunes on my phone. How on earth do I do that??? I Already have the latest version of itunes installed on my laptop already.
It should be telling you to download the latest iTunes on your computer... you can't install iTunes on your iPhone.

does latest version of bootcamp installed on late 2013 rMBP put thunderbolt drivers for lacie external thunderbolt/USB 3.0 drive?
I am wiping my current windows bootcamp partition and reinstalling windows using disk utility /bootcamp wizard to clean up and reinstall.
just curious if the Thunderbolt drivers get installed from bootcamp/windows sofytware update as I can't remember iif i had to do it manually before. I do see it shows up on windows side in device manager and if it is pluggged in during boot screen (to windows 7 pro 64 bit) shows ASMedia drivers being loaded for it.
Thanksthank you so much I was pretty sure it did but wanted to be 100% sure as purpose of clean install was to clean up some mishaps I did with office 2007 (custom install), etc.

Trying to install an application "A newer version is already installed"
Hi, I'm trying to install some Canon utilities. Specifically I'm trying to install DPP (Digital Photo Professional) and the EOS Utilities and I get an error that says the same version is already installed or that a newer version is already installed. Now, that's all fine and dandy if it were not for the fact that these applications are NOT installed. I GREPped the System Folder, and Library folder as well as user folders looking for instances of "Digital Photo Professional", "EOS Utility", etc but nothing really shows up.
I've run the periodic scripts. I've cleared the caches in the Library, and System folders as well as individual user caches. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

I've 2 versions of Java installed! How can I uninstall Apple's Java 6?

* Updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion
* Installed Oracle Java 7 update 7 dmg
* Misread an out of date OS X Daily blog where I got this Terminal command java -version. It lead me to think Java 7 wasn't installed
* Installed Apple Java 6 via the Java Prefs app. Thought this would somehow lead to a Java 7 upgrade along the way.
* Realised that Oracle Java 7 was installed fine the first time, but java -version doesn't work with it !!
* Now I have 2 versions of Java installed!
* I reinstalled Java 7 (this time using 7 update 10) hoping it would remove Apple's Java 6 but it didn't remove it.
*For some reason too the old Java Prefs app has been automatically deleted too, so I can't switch Apple Java 6 off.
Confirmation that I have 2 Java versions installed
If I type the terminal command java -version it says I have Apple Java 6 installed.
If I open LibreOffice/Preferences/Java it says I have Apple Java 6 installed.
If I open Play Station 3 Media Server it says it's using Apple Java 6.
If I open some other Java .jar apps like JOSM it says it's using Oracle Java 7
Oracle has a FAQ that recomnds deleteing old versions of Java, but very helpfully only gives instructions for Windows.
How can I uninstall Apple's Java 6?

In the past week and a half I have had a belly-full of Java name permutations. What kind of sick, twisted mind came up with Java naming scheme: Just take the word Java and append two or three letters to it using every permutation possible, throw in a few numbers for good measure, and then when discussing it just use the generic term Java… that'll really catch 'em out.

I have just purchased an iPhone 4, but it wasn't connecting to my iTunes, so I took advice and uninstalled iTunes. That's usually caused by damaged QuickTime installation configuration information on the PC.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
