ACR Version?

How can I tell exactly what version of ACR I'm using? I thought I upgraded to 4.2, but the metadata in Bridge appears to be saying I'm still using 3.7.

It should. I have attached a screen shot of Camera Raw 4.1 in XP where it shows the Camera Raw version and the camera used.
If that isn't working, you can go into Photoshop, click on the Help menu, select About Plug-in and select Camera Raw. There it will list the version number at the lower right side of the image in the dialog box.

  • Lightroom 5.7 not opening Photoshop CC2014 - says it needs newer ACR version

    Hello -
Well, a new problem has come up.  I've got a CC membership, and all current versions of Lightroom, PS CC 2014, PS CC, and PS CS6.  ACR version currently installed on the system is 8.7.1.  System is Windows 7.
All was working a-okay until today.  Now, when I try to open a RAW file from Lightroom into Photoshop, I get the following error message:
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.7 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of the Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0"
And then it prompts me to cancel or open anyway.  Opening either fails or prompts me to create a new PSD file within Photoshop and does not open ACR in Photoshop.  When I select multiple files to photomerge (which I do a lot for panos), opening in Photoshop fails completely.
Well, as stated above I have all current versions of the software installed.  In attempts to rectify the problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom, separately downloaded and reinstalled ACR v8.7.1.  Photoshop CC pop up menu indicates all software is up to date.
I have no idea what is going on or how to rectify this issue.  Any and all help is appreciated.

Hello - I have tried opening the image either the pull down menu function, or right-clicking and selecting "edit in" on the menu that appears.  I do not use ctrl-e to open. Here are screen shots that show the edit selection menu and the resulting "wrong version of ACR"
message.  As you'll see, I am attempting to open the image in PS CC2014.
Regarding the other question about ACR 8.7.1, Adobe offers this as a separate download that I found on their site.  Assuming the Adobe CC automated installation of newer software versions went awry for some reason, I downloaded this and installed it separately.
I am now going through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling LR and PS softwares to see if a full reinstall resolves the issue.

  • Latest ACR version for CS3?

I have CS3 and ACRv4.6 which does not recognize Panasonic Lumix LX3 raw files.
What is the latest ACR version for CS3 and where can I download it from?
    Thanks.

Version 4.6 is the last update for Photoshop CS3. You will need to either download the free DNG Converter version 5.4 (or the beta 5.5) and convert the raw file to DNG or update to Photoshop CS4. If you go the DNG route, even versions of Camera Raw as far back as 2.4 in Photoshop CS will be able to read the converted files.

  • PSE 11 and ACR version

I run PSE 11 and ACR Ver. 7.4.
Also, have LR 4 and have yet upgraded to LR 5.
My question is this:  Adobe indicates Camera Raw 8.1 is available for PSE 11. I have been checking Help>Updates and am informed that this Camera Raw update (8.1) is not available. I keep getting the message that PSE 11 is up-to-date as checked (with Camera Raw 7.4).   Can somebody clarify this - is this update available for PSE 11 or is Adobe's statement incorrect?
Next question - what version of ACR includes the adjustment tools?  Is that part of 8.1?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Yes, I know that Adobe has put some statement on at least one of their web pages that ACR 8.1 is available for PSE, but I don't think that's correct. I don't think ACR 8.1 will work in PSE until PSE12 is released ... but ... I don't really know for sure.
Next question - what version of ACR includes the adjustment tools?
What adjustment tools do you mean?
Some adjustment tools in ACR will NEVER work in PSE (for example, the adjustment brush and gradient filter, and probably the new Upright features as well)

  • ACR Version display under Camera Calibration in ACR 4.2

I have downloaded and installed the ACR 4.2. When I open my RAW images of Canon 30D and go to the "camera Calibration" menu, I see ACR 3.4 in the Camera Profile drop down list. Is this expected or am I doing something wrong. If it's expected, why does it show as 3.4 ? For my Canon 10D images it shows as ACR 2.4.
    Specs:
    - Running CS3 on Windows XP SP2
    - RAW image from Canon 30D
    - Using HP Pavilion t530i desktop
Let me know if any other info is needed.
    Thanks,
    Sudhir

That is normal behavior, it only reflects the first time the camera was added to ACR and until there are changes made to the original profile the new version will show

  • ACR version for Photoshop Elements 2.0

I run PhotoShop Elements 2.0 on PC with Windows XP. What is the correct version of ACR to install? I shoot with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon.

There is no version of ACR for Photoshop Elements 2.0. The Camera Raw technology was not introduced until version 3. Your best alternative would probably be to purchase the most recent version of Photoshop Elements. Then you would be able to take advantage of all the new technology in both ACR and Photoshop Elements.
Be aware, however, that ACR is somewhat limited in its capabilities when running under Photoshop Elements. Even so, the latest version adds some very nice features.

  • Elements 7 ACR Version and crop guides

    Two questions:
First, what is the latest version of ACR that I can use with Elements 7?
Second, Elements 7 has no crop guides such as rule of thirds, golden section etc. Is there a way of creating these a different way?

I am not sure you are looking for technical crop guides like those:
    https://www.google.fr/search?q=photoshop+elements+crop+guides&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=o rg.mozilla:fr:official&client=firefox-a
I imagine you rather want guides to compose and choose your final cropping.
    - For cropping, you could use the 'aspect ratio' in the crop tool or rectangular marquee tool and specify heigth and width.
    - To get visual guides on a separate layer, you could draw your own templates, or probably use third party add-ons. I'll get back if I find some of them.

  • ACR version mismatch - two versions show as installed

Photoshop CS - installed 2.4 then attempted to install version supporting Nikon D70s. When 4.4.1 reported as not compatible, moved it out of File Formats and moved 2.4 back in. "System Info" now shows both installed (only one is in place) and displays mismatch error message.
It appears Photoshop saw 4.4.1 and set a flag that was not unset.
    Suggestions???

ACR 4.4.1 is only compatible with Photoshop CS3. You must still have it somewhere on your computer. It has to be deleted from your computer. The only version of Camera Raw that is available for Photoshop CS is version 2.4. There will be no more updates. However, if you download the 4.4.1 version of the DNG converter and convert your files to Digital negative (DNG), you will be able to open those files with Photoshop CS and Camera Raw (ACR) 2.4.

  • How to determine ACR version in Lightroom 5?

I have Lightroom version 5.  How do I determine what version of Adobe Camera Raw is installed with it?  I want to get a new lens so I'm interested in checking compatibility.  Thanks.

In LR, do Help / About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom x.x.x to see what x.x.x version of LR you’re running.
The LR 5.7.1 update, which is the latest one, was rushed out to fix a problem with NX processing, as well as adding Sony Alpha 7 II support.  I believe the LR-has-an-update detection does not see LR 5.7.1 as a new update if you have LR 5.7, at least with the serial-number-activated version.  You can always download the update from the Adobe Updates page:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
I myself have the CC-licensed version of LR 5 and I did get an Install button next to Lightroom in my CC Apps list, indicating there was an update, although normally there would be an Update button not an Install button so the CC deployment was slightly off, as well.

  • Photoshop Elements 9.0 ACR version upgrade

I haven't been able to upgrade my camera raw plug-in in Photoshop Elements 9.0 above a 6.5 version. Unfortunately I need a 7 version to process my camera raw files (powershot G15). I hope there is an easy way?? Any advice is very much appreciated

you can't update pse 9 beyond cr 6.5.
you can upgrade pse or you can use dng converter:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows or http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=Macintosh&product=106

  • (Minor?) Bug:  ACR Preferences file does not match ACR version number

This may be of no major consequence (I don't know one way or the other) but the preferences file for ACR 4.2 on my Mac shows up as "Adobe Camera Raw 4.1 Prefs", even after trashing it and letting ACR rebuild it.

The question mark should have been after "Bug", I reckon. (As in "Bug?")
The reason I brought it up was that it has caused confusion to at least one user over at the Bridge Macintosh forum.
The Adobe Bridge team has been suggesting to purge the ACR cache as a means to alleviate a very significant bug in Bridge (it's showing the wrong thumbnail and preview in some instances, speciously calling up thumbnails and previews of totally unrelated images in very different folders).
Therefore, that user (and I suspect others) tried nuking the ACR preferences file as well.

  • A DNG File Processed by an Earlier Version of ACR--How to Re-Process in ACR 8.4

I have thousands of DNG files processed by the ACR versions that came with CS4 and CS5. I was hoping to re-process some of them with the later ACR versions that came with CS6. But when I open a previously edited DNG file in ACR 8.4, it seems to revert to the earlier version in which the file was originally edited/processed. I made a duplicate of a file and reverted it to Default--sort of like restoring its virginity--but ACR 8.4 was not fooled; it still opened the earlier version. What to do???????

The earlier version of ACR was using a previous Process Version.
If you want the newer adjustment sliders, set your Process Version to 2012 on the Camera Calibration tab.

  • Current version of CS6/ACR with the perpetual license

First of all, where can I find the list of forum discussions? All I have been able to see is a list of questions. I'd like to know where this post ends up so I can monitor the answers if any.
Regarding my current version of CS6/ACR (version 7?), how long will it be supported for new camera and lens profiles. Not likely I will ever be able to afford the ultimate $600/year for apps I will never use, but I may very likely buy a new camera. Am I stuck with Lightroom for RAW conversions?

  • Updating ACR to a later version

I currently have Version 7.1 of ACR installed and am using it with PSE11 on my iMac.  I have tried several times to update it to a later version, but to no avail.  The Help/Update tool tells me I have the current version and I have Photoshop Elements 11 ticked for automatic updates.  I have tried downloading Version 7.4 from the web but when I go back to look at what version I am using it always shows as 7.1.354.
On my iMac I am also having no luck viewing JPG and Tiff files in ACR in PSE11 even though I have Camera Raw enabled when I open a file.  They open in PSE but not Camera Raw.
I have PSE11 installed on an HP laptop with ACR Version 7.4 and have no such difficulties, but I am tlrying to wean myself off the laptap to use the iMac 100% of the time.
Any assistance  as to how I can solve these problems would be greatly appreciated.

    Why doesn't it update?
    Any errors?

You'll need to update to at least ACR 8.2 for the 70D to be recognized.  The normal way to update PSE12 to the latest CR is to use Help / Updates in the Editor which should update to ACR 8.5.
According to Adobe's website PSE12 shipped with ACR 8.1 and you say it says yours is reported as ACR 8.0.
Are you using PSE 11 and not 12?  PSE 11's maximum ACR version is 8.0.
