ACR, where did deleted files go?

I have a MAC and am using ACR. When I click 'delete' on a file and then 'Done' to close ACR, the deleted file does not go to my trashcan. I read in the ACR help/tutorials that the deleted files should go to your trashcan but I can't find them anywhere. Does this program delete the RAW file permanently? If not, how can I recover these deleted files?

Hi Erin,
It is expected for the deleted files to go into the Trash.  I just tested this with ACR 8.3 by deleting an image from the film strip, clicking Done, and observing that the deleted file indeed wound up in the Trash can.
Which version of Camera Raw are you using, and which version of Mac OS X do you have?
Thanks,
Eric

Where did my files go when I downloaded Creative Cloud.

again, the cc app doesn't move/remove/delete/uninstall any files on your desktop, or elsewhere.
in addition, your desktop folder may have been a shortcut to a folder, or the files in your desktop folder may have been shortcuts to your files.  so, search your computer (using your file search) for your missing files.  also, check your trash for your missing files.

  • Where did deleted iPod files go?

Hi there! Any and all help with this issue I recently stumbled upon would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I purchased my first iPod in February thinking that it would hold all of the music from my CDs. After uploading them, it did not. So, I deleted some music and decided to keep those files in a separate personal file folder so that one day, when iPod comes out with an even higher memory iPod, I could upload the songs that I deleted. Now, when I just looked in that file folder, all of my files are GONE! Where did they go?
I just want to be able to keep track of the files I delete so that I can one day upload them.
    Thanks again!
    Sincerely,
    Dan

Anyone able to help? I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

  • I would like to know that my deleted Notes, photos, messages, etc., are really gone when I delete them on my iphone. Where do deleted files go and when do they actually get erased?

I read somewhere that deleted files go into your device's database, and then get replaced by "new content." Does "new content" simply mean more deleted files? So, deleted files are deleted, but really they stay in your device's database and could be recovered by an iOS recovery tool via one's computer, but after more files are deleted, the original deleted files will be erased forever (due to lack of space in your device's database)? This is all assuming I didn't back anything up through itunes or icloud or any other program/app/storage utility.

Same way it works with any computer...when you delete something, the data isn't actually deleted, just the pointers to the data. As you use your device, the data gets overwritten, since the iOS views it as "free" space..
If you want the data truly gone, you need to erase your phone. Same way it works on any computer.

  • Where Did my File Go?

Why is it that every time I sit down for a session with my Adobe products, it seems that I am searching my computer many many times for where Adobe stores my files.
For example, if in Photoshop and I Save for Web and Devices, the default directory is some god awful place on the other side of the world. If I am somewhere else in Bridge or Indesign and I, god forbid, click one of the up-arrows, it DOES NOT TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL UP IN THE DIRECTORY TREE, as any sane user interface would, it takes me to Africa or Bangladesh. Or did I die and go to the bad place? That's how this idiotic interface makes you feel.
You would think that Adobe, with all of its quality and bank, would get rid of the old geezer who must be in control of this part of the application, that old guy from the 70's who has been staring at computers too long, drinking too much coffee, you know the brain dead guy who is causing this nightmare for the ENTIRE WORLD!
Please fix the way your applications store files! I am sick of having to search my hard drives for the graphic files I work so hard on.
    Please.
I Suppose this wont get posted in the forum. Instead it will appear in TimBuck2

    >You would think that Adobe, with all of its quality and bank, would get rid of the old geezer who must be in control of this part of the application, that old guy from the 70's who has been staring at computers too long, drinking too much coffee, ...
I think the "old geezer" is in Microsoft or Apple, and maybe he should be continue drinking coffee.
    >you know the brain dead guy who is causing this nightmare for the ENTIRE WORLD!
This "ENTIRE WORLD", that you refer to, has very few inhabitants judging by their lack of posting in these forums. (although I think that the 70's brain dead guy would correct that to fora).
On a serious note, have you used the operating system's browser and noted that its behaviour is exactly what you get in the Photoshop browser window?

  • Where did exported file go? Why does it time out?

Right now, I'm a little more than frustrated with this "tool" and have two issues with it.
First issue:  Followed the steps to convert a PDF to Excel. First time, it timed out and I received an error message "Adobe ExportPDF could not successfully export your PDF file (file name).pdf. The conversion of your uploaded PDF timed out." Second time I tried it by turning off the OCR feature...same error message.
I will admit that the PDF file I am trying to convert to Excel is almost 3,000 pages long, but each page does not contain a whole lot of data. What I do with the converted Excel file is run a VBA macro that I developed to pull out the information we need. However, I also tried to convert a smaller PDF file to Excel with the same results...error...timed out.
Second issue: When I finally did get a PDF to convert to Excel and I tried to download it to open it...nothing appeared. Nothing opened in Excel. Export to PDF indicated that the file could not  be previewed and I should download it to view it. (Huh???) Then I tried to save it instead of opening it. I can't find where it went!
I volunteered to test this tool for my department of 45 others who would definitely benefit from the use of such a tool...if I can get it to work. So far, things are not looking so good. If I can't get this to work for me as the tester, then I will have to cancel the subscription I just signed on for and look for other conversion software that does work.

I’m on the Adobe site and trying to reply to you. It’s not working.
I had my subscription cancelled on Wednesday. We can’t use this.

  • Where did my file directory go?  I thought my mail was backed up in my .me account and now that my computer was stolen and I need to restore my emails all I can find are the ones in my inbox

I thought my mail was backed up in my .me account but when my computer was stolen and I went to restore my email in my new one, all I had were emails in the inbox.  Is there any way I can retrieve the saved file directory?  I did not back up the mail because that was being done by the .me account (I thought)

If her data was not backed up or synced to something, it's gone. Sorry.

  • HT4413 once windows migration is done to MAC, where did the files go and how do I transfer them or combine them (i.e. email, documents, etc.)

    Hello,
I performed the Windows Migration from a Dell PC to my new MacBook Pro successfully.  It created a new user on my new notebook.  How do I transfer or combine my old files (that were migrated from my old PC) onto my notebook?  I have loaded Office for MAC 2011 on the new notebook and had Office 2007 on the old PC, so I would like to transfer email (outlook) and documents (word & excel).  As well as pictures, internet favorites and i-tunes.
    Thank you.

    Hi Niel,
Sorry, I am not a techie and I am not very familiar with MAC (this is my first one).  Where exactly are the files I migrated my old PC?  How can you drag them from one home folder to another?  Not sure how to authenticate myself.
Sorry for all the questions, but I am completely lost.
    Thank you.

  • Where did my files tab go?

I was moving the tabs on the right around trying to make the things I need to use easier to find, and I inadvertently lost my "files" and "manage site" window. Where'd it go?

  • Where did "reduce file size" go?

My co-worker has acrobat reader version 7 and has a "reduce file size" option under the "file" menu.  I am on verion 9 and cannot find this option.  Can anyoen point me to where I can find it.  Thank you.

If he has "reduce file size" then he has Acrobat, not Reader. There is no "Acrobat Reader".

  • I logged into my Acrobat account after months away -- where did my files go?

I use Acrobat for storage but haven't logged in for quite some time. Tonight I logged in, accepted the new terms and then gasped as all of my files but one are gone. What happened?

There are two storage spaces: Workspaces (old), and Files (new).  Which one did you use?

  • Time Machine Restore- where did my files go?

    Hello,
I just had a new internal hard drive installed by Apple since my previous drive had failed.  I am currently using 10.7.2 and I tried to restore everything on my computer with my last time machine backup which was with Snow Leopard.  I selected the "Macintosh HD" folder in Time Machine from my external drive, and was under the impression that everything would be restored.  It took about an hour or so to "restore", but none of my applications, documents, or any of my files can be found, even though when I look under "About This Mac," there is 141 GB of space being taken up in the "Other" category (which is about the same size of my time machine backup).  Does anyone know how I can access my time machine backup since it appears it is taking up space somewhere on my computer?  When searching for my files (or looking in the Applications/Documents folders), nothing comes up.
    Thanks!

    Hi Pondini,
Thank you for the link, it is extremely helpful!  I'm assuming if I recover from my Snow Leopard disk, my system will revert back to 10.6, is that correct?
EDIT:  Sorry, I missed the fact that all you had was a Snow Leopard backup.  Please disregard the previous version of this post.
Yes, as Softwater says, in that case delete the "false volume" in /Volumes (it will take quite a while to empty the trash)
Then, to avoid permissions problems, use the 4th option in Problems after using Migration Assistant to transfer your data from the backups.

What exactly are the files you installed?  Applications?  Games?  Microsoft Office files?
