Acrobat 10.1.4 Scan to PDF Issues
Hello,
I installed 10.1.4 last night and when I got to work this morning I found that ll users who had Fujitsu scanners (TWAIN) were unable to scan. The latest TWAIN drivers are installed. When a users selectes Create PDF From Scanner (any type B&W / Grayscale / ETC) the document is scanned but then the app just hangs. Sometime you are prompted to add more pages othertimes not. When you are and slect no mor pages the app goes into never land. The only way out is to end the process in task manager. Completely uninstall and moving back to 10.1.3 fixes the issue. This is on Windows 7 (x64) SP1, Acrobat 10.1.4 Professional.
What could be the problem?

Acrobat 8.1.2:scanning to pdf produce problem of appearance of black strip on right side of pdf doc
I am using licensed Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional at notebook with XP Pro. I have trouble creating a PDF from scaner by using Acrobat 8.1.2, because of appearance of black strip on the right side on each page of pdf doc.

OlegI hope this isn't a dumb question, but is it coming from the scanner? We have to watch two things when scanning on our Canon 5020s.
#1 Make sure the sidebars are as tight as possible, including making sure the stack of paper is very clean and straight and tight.
#2 There is a setting in our scanner called Margin. It corrects for things like manufacture defect. If we leave that setting alone, we get a small black edge. We have it set to -2 to decrease the scanning area. This fixes that problem. -
C5280 All in One scan to pdf issues
Running Windows 7 Pro, 64 Bit. Two days ago out of the blue, my C5280 printer is having problems scanning multi page documents into files. It will scan between 2 and 3 pages of the document and then freeze in the middle of the scan. The only way to clear it is to unplug it. It won't turn off or cancel.
I thought it might have needed a driver update but I dont' see one readily available. There was a Windows update on the day this first occurred but the error did not occur with the first scan after the update so I don't think the update was the problem.
Would appreciate any assistance.

I would also make sure that the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

Help! Recently my Acrobat 10 has stopped saving ANY PDFs, old or new, scanned or downloaded. When I try to save a PDF a popup occurs telling me "The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (8)." What can be done to fix this issue?

This is a generic error message, while saving a file which has some corrupt data.
Can you please open the file, click on 'File - Properties', and under description, please check who is the PDF producer for a sample file.
Also, please share the exact version of Adobe Acrobat 10 (Help menu - About Adobe Acrobat 10). The latest version of Adobe Acrobat is 10.1.12. You can also try updating your Acrobat to the latest version (Help - Check for updates) to see if that works for you.

Acrobat 10 freezes when optimizing a PDF in custom scan
Hello,
Running into an issue where we use the Custom scan feature in Acrobat. In the window, I even uncheck Optimize Scanned PDF, but Acrobat still optimizes regardless. Going to Options for Optimize and turning everything off does nothing either. Current version is 10.1.5.
Our scanner is Fujitsu 4860C2 using Kofax VRS TWAIN driver. From what I can tell it is the latest driver and software. The kofax has a feature called Enable Advanced Clarity which is necessary for quality scan. If we turn this feature off, the optimize freezing does not occur.
Any idea what causes this?Update - I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe and the drivers. Now, even if we turn off advanced clarity it freezes. So evidence is pointing to a bug in adobe custom scan. Acrobat ignores the optimize scanned PDF checkbox, it will attempt to optimize regardless.

Acrobat XI Pro, Surface Pro 128, Scan to PDF not working
I just installed the trial version of Acrobat XI onto my Surface Pro and everything works except the Scan to PDF, when I hit any of the presets I get an error message that says: Box Title: Twain Data Source Text In box: " Program was unable to load necessary component and its going to terminate. Please re-install your software." with an "OK" button.
When I hit "OK" button get error box title: "Adobe Acrobat", Text in Box: "An unrecoverable error has occurred. Operation stopped.", with an "OK" button
Hit "Ok" Button and goes back to adobe startup screen.
This happens with Auto detect Color Mode, Black & White Document, Grayscale Document, Color Document, Color Image.
When I hit custom Scan, I get:
Box Title: Twain Data Source Text In box: " Program was unable to load necessary component and its going to terminate. Please re-install your software." with an "OK" button.

Then the Native Scanner interface pops up and it scans the document and brings it up in Acrobat XI.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix, I would like to buy the license, but will not until I make sure it will work properly. The Scanner works fine with other applications. I have two different scanners installed and it does this with both.I have the same problem only with Acrobat 9.5.5 (Windows 8 Pro 64 bit)
This error message appeared after I had a re-install. Twain is installed with "Neat" scanner and software. (Neat works.)

Acrobat Standard (9.4.6) - Issue: "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form"
I have Adobe Acrobat Standard (version 9.4.6). I am trying to create a form but when I start the form wizard, locate the document to convert and click next, I get an error message "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form." What's wrong? (I've used this feature before in Adobe Pro so I am familiar with the process but I am using Standard now). It's not letting me upload my document (an MS Word 2003 document). Please, someone, anyone, help! I think I got a bad batch of software here. Any suggestions? If it's hopeless, who do I call for a replacement if that's the case? Is this software under warranty?

Thank you for your email. The file I am trying to convert to PDF and create a form with is a MS Office Word 2003 file. It isn't any specific file; the issue happens every time. I type my text in the Word doc and then proceed to open Adobe Acrobat Standard and use the wizard to create a form from an existing file. I tried to repairing the software but it does not help. Any other suggestions? Is this version of software defective? I really need this feature. I look forward to your reply. Thanks.

Adobe Acrobat Pro X Crashes when Trying to Scan to PDF - Epson Perfection v30 on Windows 7
I am running Windows 7 with Acrobat Pro 10.0.0
I have a Epson Perfection v30 Scanner installed. I open Acrobat, and when I select Scan to PDF, pick the v30 Scanner, and start the scan, it does actually start and complete the scanning process. We have 8 machines with Acrobat and this Printer, and I am able to repeat this with each system.
Does anybody have any ideas? Is anybody using the Epson Perfection v30 scanner?Any ideas? there was an update on adobe dated 2/25/13. Perhaps if I uninstall it? I need advice on how to uninstall. When I view updates and click on it, and then click uninstall, it goes back to the Program Screen, in Control, for all programs. Then do I click on Acrobat and Uninstall? I am nervous about doing this. Thanks

Scan to pdf not available in Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard

I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard installed on a PC with Windows XP Pro. The scan to PDF feature is not available anywhere in the program but should be as far as I am informed. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks.Do you have a scanner attached? Does it work in standard graphics packages? Is it set up with a Twain interface? Acrobat 7.0 Standard Random Hangs on scan-to-pdf
Scan to pdf will randomly hang about 3/4 of the way through a multi-page document scan with no error or warning messages.
Acrobat totally hangs (can't even move the window) and I have to kill the process in the task manager at which time a message appears saying "the process is waiting for input from you". There are no dialogs for input displayed.
System: WinXP, scanner is Dell 964 all in one, Acrobat 7.1.0.
I routinely scan multiple pages in the dell utility without problems.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this or provide a method for debugging?
Thanks.If you can use AA7 on Win 7, you may be successful. However, you will have to print to the Adobe PDF print. If you were using an earlier version of WORD (2003), then PDF Maker may work. In any case, AcroTray will likely not work. That means you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer with print-to-file selected. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the process. A bit combersome, but may work. I have done it with AA5 and Win 7 starter -- a bit of a pain and an upgrade is really appropriate. If you have a 64 bit system, you may be totally out of luck.
So, you may be successful in getting AA7 to work in some sense. Do not expect perfection of no errors. Good luck. -
Scanning to PDF problem on Acrobat Prof 8

I have a problem when I try to scan to PDF at the point when I try to set a location on the network drive or if the location is already set, it says:
'An error occured while reconnecting....'
Microsoft Windows Network:The local device name is already in use
The connection has not been restored.
You can press OK a few times to these messages and eventually it scans and I have no problems when I access those folders through Windows Explorer.
Any ideas?

Adobe Acrobat XI Ribbon PDF issue

We have Acrobat XI and Word 2010, and having issue using the Adobe Ribbon to create the PDF Files from Word.
The Issue is
When The Word Document with Watermark is converted to PDF using the Adobe Ribbon. The Watermark is getting removed somehow but all the contents are the on the PDF.
If i use the Print Option to create the PDF. Everything is getting printed to PDF.
Please someone can help on this issue.Thank you for the Prompt response.
Print to paper is fine as it prints the water mark.
I also tried from several PC to convert the Doc to PDF using the Adobe Ribbon but with same result "no watermark" -

Scanning a document to a PDF file of reasonable size has been addressed many times - it is always an issue! My wife is a realtor and frequently needs to scan multiple page documents. I found an actual solution last night:
27 page letter-size B&W document - Scan to PDF on my HP-8630 AIO using HP software at 300dpi, small file size, BW: 27MB! Too big to email.
Solution (in Windows 7 at least), if you have Adobe Acrobat:
Open Adobe Acrobat, go to File Menu - Create - PDF from Scanner - Configure Presets. Select and configure "Black and White Document":
Select TWAIN device (NOT WIA) as the scanner; black and white, 300dpi, file size one notch to left (smaller) from center, check "optimize after scan". Select paper size and one- or two-sided scanning. Uncheck "make searchable". Save the preset. (The TWAIN driver was apparently installed with the HP installer, since I did not have to look for it.)
After placing pages in the Doc Feeder, go to File Menu, Create - PDF from Scanner - Black and White Document. Watch the magic!
File size 768k! Quality indistinguishable from the 27MB version, sharp and clear, all 27 pages! Really!
Using the HP software, using a lower resolution or sliding the file size slider to smaller makes a muddy scan, and the file is still huge compared to the Acrobat technique. MUCH worse quality than the Acrobat 768k version.
Interestingly, using Acrobat to open the 27MB scan and "PRINT" it to the PDF Printer reduced the size to 10MB, with no change in appearance. "Save as smaller PDF" did not reduce the size further.
What gives, HP?? What can Acrobat do to scan from your AIO that you can't do?
I tried on my Mac as well - we use both. No go. On Mac OSX 10.10.1 with latest HP drivers, Acrobat does not see any TWAIN or other driver from within the dialog box described above. Scanning from HP software again yields about 1MB per page.

I see by your post that you are having issues with the PDF scanning size being too big. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
The drivers for 10.10 are installed by the Apple Updates. Did you install the 10.9 drivers or are did up run the Apple Updates to install the printer?
Uninstall the 10.9 printer software and run the Apple Updates to install the proper drivers. Then you can scan with the Apple Software.
Connect the printer to the Mac by a USB cable and run the Apple Updates to install the printer drivers.
Go to the Apple, About this Mac, click on the Overview tab and select Software Updates.
Go to the Apple, Printers and Scanners, delete the USB drivers and disconnect the USB cable.
Then add the wireless printer as a Bonjour printer if the printer is networked.
Click on the + sign, highlight the printer, below beside Use: make sure just the printer name is listed. (you might have to click on the drop down to select your printer from the list)

Adobe 9 Black on White Document Scans to PDF Invert Black to White and vice versa! Not Good!
I have the same problem as TexasLawyer (Jul 30 2009) whose question was not answered nor was there any answer to a commenter who said he has the same problem ("I have an old HP LaserJet 3330 multifunction printer, and prefer scanning documents out of Adobe Acrobat rather than the software that came with the scanner. However, after upgrading to Acrobat 9 Professional, the scans result in negative images. I tried using the option in Acrobat to create negative images, hoping that that would result in a positive, but it didn't work. I'm using Windows XP, also.")
Me too. Except I am running XP as a virtual machine in a MAC (Snow Leopard). I "upgraded" to Acrobat 9 from a functioning Acrobat 6 (worked fine with my setup to make correct B&W pdf's from scanned B&W documents on the HP 3330 before I installed Adobe 9--I got updates immediately and am at version 9.1.3) butthe Acrobat 9.1.3 scans on the HP 3300 invert white to black and black to white. The printer option box to invert black and white images was unchecked. I checked it and ran the scan again but same result--white of paper document is black in pdf and black is white in pdf. I can scan the B on W document using grayscale and get B on W but the file is too large and unacceptable due to smudges picked up with gray scale.
Can't understand how so basic a use of Adobe is this messed up.This has to be a common problem since many many users scan black on white documents to pdf. Does anyone have a solution to this? It is critical in my profession.

Oct 8, 2009I have an HP6010 scanner (sheet feed) that is used to scan multiple page documents. If I use the WIA scanner option I cannot select page size and the scanner defaults to legal size. On the other hand if I use the Twain driver I get negative images on my scans. I just installed Acrobat X Pro and the same thing is happening. I was using Acrobat 9. In fact in duplex mode the scanner outputs a negative image every other page, and a standard image on the alternate pages. Either way I am frustrated. I can't remember when the problem began, but I believe I was running XP SP2 and Acrobat 7 or 8.
Ironically, if I push the scan to PDF button on the scanner, which uses an HP utility, it comes out fine. All pages are in positive mode.
I did try scanning in color even though the document is black and white. I believe that the scan was fine. No negative images, but scanning in color is like watching the sun go down.
I thought it was Vista and System 7, then I was told that it had to be a scanner issue and that I needed to talk to HP. However, if the scanner functions properly on its own, with the HP utilities, then it has to be Acrobat. -
Acrobat Distiller 9 Error - Cannot Print PDF
When I try to print PDFs from any browser or piece of software, try to open Distiller directly, or even scan to PDFs, I receive the following error:
Unable to create the temporary folder.
Error: 5 - Access is denied.
I have had no problems until Monday with this. I did not install any new software. I have done the following:
Scanned the computer for Malware (Malwarebytes) - 0 threats found
Scanned the computer for regular virus/registry issues (AVG 2013) - 0 threats found
Repaired Acrobat 9 PRO installation - no change
Rebooted multiple times - no change

By holding the Windows key and R down, I typed %TEMP% into the Run field and hit Enter.
I found a temp folder name Acrobat Distiller 9. I deleted the folder. I then created a new folder with the same name, and I was immediately able to print PDFs again. The issue was resolved.
