Acrobat 10 Compatible with FrameMaker7.2?

We have lost our CD of Acrobat Pro V8 that we're using with FrameMaker 7.2
I want to buy Acrobat 10, but only if it compatible with FrameMaker 7.2 p158.
I've searched for the answer to this question, but can't find the info on the Adobe site.
Appreciate it if someone can clue me in.

Disclaimer: I have no direct experience with your configuration.
Acrobat X Std & Pro are supported by Adobe on XP.
I would have high confidence that these two paths would work:
Print to PS and Distill
Print to PDF using pseudo-driver in Acro X
The question would be "Save-As", which I never use*.
Save-As PDF, of course, is no such thing from Framemaker. Other Adobe apps, like Photoshop and and Illustrator, can round-trip to/from PDF, which is now close to a peer format along side .PSD and .AI. Frame can't even open a Saved-As PDF. This trap is in addition to the other Save-As-PDF hazards pointed out in various threads here.

  • Re: Adobe Acrobat compatible with Lion

I just want to be sure Adobe Acrobat 9 is compatible with Lion, as I spoke to an Adobe rep who said it was not.
I ordered Acrobat 9 without checking to see that it was compatible.

This article from Adobe http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html (scroll down to "Acrobat Family") says the plug-in doesn't work with Safari 5.1, but the app itself works with OS 10.7 and 10.6. I don't use Acrobat but this implies that the latest version should work with Lion. Maybe an email to them will get an answer for sure.

  • Java, Adobe Acrobat, HP Web Printing, Adobe Contribute, all of which people use world round no longer compatible with Firefox? Maybe it's time to go back to IE.

Firefox used to be the best, now its working against every piece of software i use in the publishing industry. Java is important, so is Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe contribute.
Maybe it is time to kick Firefox to the curb. Firefox is not getting better, it's getting worse. It freezes, it crashes, it's no longer compatible with major programs in the publishing industry.
AND, you guys never answer any of your users. I'm tired of Firefox freezing up. read your freaking forums. Your not making the internet better, I used to have such faith you.

  • Adobe Acrobat 5 not compatible with Windows 8

When I try to open up files saved in Adobe Acrobat 5 my new computer with Windows 8 gives me a message that they are not compatible with Windows 8. What do I need to do to be able to open these files on my new computerwth Windows 8?

Did you install reader or such on Win8? AA5 is not even compatible with Win7, though it can be made to work with work arounds for the 32-bit version. I suspect you also have a 64-bit system, which I think is totally incompatibile with AA5. Download the Reader XI and try to open the PDFs with that. I suspect they will open fine.
If you want to create PDFs, you will need to purchase AA XI.

  • Is acrobat 9 pro extended compatible with windows 8.1

When switched to Windows 8.1. I loosed my PDF printer and a few more issues came in.
I wonder if Acrobat 9 Pro Extended is not compatible with W 8.1. ????

Only AA XI is certified for use with Win 8.1. That being said, you may still be able to run AA 9 on the new system. However, the updates are likely critical to proper operation, particularly with a 64-bit processor. If you have OFFICE 2010 or newer, you will only be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer. The only full way to find out is to try it, but the updates may be the answer to your printer problem. I thought that AcroTray and the print driver worked in AA 8.1, but have not tried it myself.

  • PDF Documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0

Which version (Standard, Pro or Ext Pro) of Adobe Acrobat 9.0  family should I buy to create PDF documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0 ????
Is it possible to create PDF files from HTML and navigate through the links ????
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your answer.
Related to my first question (compatibility with Acrobat Reader 5.0), how should I save the PDF created ????  Saving the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9.0 with standard save option makes the document not readable by Acrobat Reader 5.0.
Should I save the document as PDF/A, PDF/X or any other subset ?????  If so, I'm not sure if they are included in the Standard.
    Thank you in advance.

  • FM 9 compatible with Acrobat 8?

    I'm evaluating a trial version of FM9.
I already had Acrobat Standard 8 installed, so I skipped the PDF option of the FM9 install based on past experience with FrameMaker's built-in partial Acrobat distribution trashing Acrobat Proper.
FM9 (as noted in some previous topics here) would not save as PDF. I repaired Acrobat 8, no change. So as to continue with the evaluation, I installed a trial of Acrobat 9, but I don't want to buy it as it has no new features I need.
So is there a way to get FM9's Save as PDF feature to recognize and use Acrobat 8?
By the way, any Adobe types who are following this, your proprietary download manager is horribly buggy and slow, you should dump it. Also, the Acrobat 9 installer is preposterously slow (took overnight), you should switch to whatever you're using for FrameMaker 9, which worked OK.

Some correlation between FrameMaker and Distiller may be useful.
    Some snippets from Adobe TechNotes.
"You can create PDF files in Adobe FrameMaker by saving a FrameMaker document as a PDF file or by printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Both methods use Adobe Acrobat Distiller..."
    and
"Make sure that you use a version of Acrobat Distiller that is compatible with FrameMaker."
    FrameMaker 8.0.4 (p277) is compatible with Acrobat 9 .
FrameMaker 8.0 is compatible with Acrobat Distiller 8.0.x.
FrameMaker 7.2 is compatible with Acrobat Distiller 7.0.
FrameMaker 7.1p116 is compatible with either Acrobat Distiller 6.0 or 7.0.
FrameMaker 7.1b023 and 7.1p114 are compatible with Acrobat Distiller 6.0.
FrameMaker 7 shipped with Distiller 5.05
FrameMaker 6 shipped with Distiller 4.05
And, for FM 9.x we got/have Distiller 9.x

  • Will Acrobat Pro 9 be compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion?

Will Acrobat Pro 9 be be compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion?

Roaring Apps is indeed the source
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/p/1
The claim on the site is that it was tested on Lion and "does not work properly," which is to say there are major, not minor problems.
I spoke with someone at Adobe today who tells me that version 10.1, or at least a modified version of 10.1 that is Lion compatible will be available when Lion is released.
That leads me to believe neither version 9 nor the current version 10 will run properly under Lion. I do not know the extent of the issues. Since I use Acrobat Pro often, I'm not thrilled with having to upgrade, so I'd love to find out that the Roaring Apps post is incorrect. But there was no indication from my discussion today that the old software would work on the new OS. Quite the opposite.
I did mention that I thought $199 was a steep upgrade cost for making the program work with a Mac OS update that Adobe has had access to for a fair amount of time. Particularly since Apple has made it clear for years that they would be dropping support for coding based on the old Power PC architecture.

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 not compatible with windows 7

    Hello,
Some years ago I bought Adobe Acrobat 6.0 which I placed on my old computer. Now I have a new computer with windows 7 and the acrobat 6.0 version apears not compatible with this windows version. Does anyone know a solution?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best wishes,
    Arjen

If you have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate, you can download Windows XP Mode and attempt to install Adobe Acrobat 6 in the virtual environment. Windows XP Mode uses Windows Virtual PC to run a full Windows XP Professional 32 bit environment virtually, and it is a free download. A limitation you may encounter is that the PDF printer will not be accessible from your Windows 7 programs, only from programs which are installed in the Windows XP Mode environment.
This subject has been discussed on several forums, and while Acrobat version 6 does install and work for some users, the PDF printer does not install on Windows 7. Version 9 was the first version which was compatible with Windows 7, so if this is critical to you, you should consider upgrading to the latest version of Acrobat.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 is not compatible with Windows 7

Acrobat Pro 9 is not compatible with Windows 7.  How do I upgrade my version?
    Thanks,
    John

Where did you get that information (other than Win 7 is not listed in the compatibility list)? I have been using AA9 on Windows 7 for several years (it is a 32-bit system). Did you try to install it or some other issue crop up? You may need to be sure you install the updates, but otherwise it should work. Even folks with AA8 have been successful on Win 7 (at least that is what they have reported), though they are likely to have some minor problems at times.
My Win7 came with Acrobat 9 when Win 7 first came out and has worked fine. If you have upgraded OFFICE to 2010 or later, then you would only be able to print, not use PDF Maker.
That being said, it is still a good idea to go ahead and upgrade. AA9 is the oldest version qualifying for the upgrade to AAXI.

I have been told that it is no compatile with windows 7

    Hi ,
That is absolutely correct .Acrobat 9 pro is not compatible with Windows 7 .It might lead to certain conflicts while the downloading is in process .
You could refer the following link to get more details about the technical specifications about Acrobat 9 .
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-acrobat-family-prod ucts.html
If you are on windows 7 I would recommend you to switch to the latest Acrobat DC as it has a new and interesting UI along with enhanced features that will make your work a lot simpler .

  • Can acrobat 8 be made compatible with windows 8?

can acrobat 8 be made compatible with windows8?

An upgrade is probably needed. Have you tried to run it. Of course, after installation you would need to install any updates, particularly with a 64-bit system. It may still not work, or it may be that parts do not work. To check the parts you would have to go through various stages of testing. You will likely find some things that work and others that don't. If something does not work, then it would the time to try to find a workaround. You might get lucky, but don't expect miracles.

  • Is FrameMaker 9 compatible with Acrobat XI?

We have the Tech Comms Suite 2 that comes with FrameMaker 9. We are slowly getting away from FrameMaker but still have some documents that we maintain with Frame. However, we would like to upgrade Acrobat to XI. Does anyone know if Acrobat XI is compatible with FrameMaker 9? We are on Windows 7...if that helps.

Too bad about moving away from Frame, since it's steadily improving.
But yes, the two apsa are compatible. Acrobat is basically a "printer" that
    processes whatever you send it.
The integration features built into the TCS components may not work well
because they expect whatever version of Acrobat shipped with it, but
producing PDFs with all the bells and whistles shouldn't be a problem.
