Acrobat 10 Pro scanning issues

I just upgraded to Acrobat 10 Pro running snow leopard and Using HP officejet Pro 8500 for scanner. When I try to create a PDF from scanner through Acrobat I get three Choices. SANE, HP Scan, and Vuescan TWAIN.  If I select HP Scan or Vuescan it opens up those respective programs. If SANE is selected the following appears after a few moments.
After you click ok the following appears.
I previously installed(before the upgrade to Acrobat 10 from 8.0) the SANE driver but am wondering if I did something wrong. Not sure what I need to do to get Acrobat talking directly to the scanner. I have the latest drivers for the printer.
My goal is to be able to scan a document (create a PDF ) directly with Acrobat instead of sending the the scan through the other programs and then ulimately to acrobat where the document will be managed.
I had this set up this way when I had Acrobat 8.0 and before I upgraded to Snow Leopard which I am regretting right now as this is very frustrating after years of it working fine now I find myself dead in the water after an "upgrade" to the OS.  Can someone please help me get this thing working smoothly again.
From What I have read it might have something to do with TWAIN drivers but frankly I need step by step help to get me back up and running.

Hi
You wrote "When I try to create a PDF from scanner through Acrobat I get three Choices. SANE, HP Scan, and Vuescan TWAIN.  If I select HP Scan or Vuescan it opens up those respective programs"  but did not disclose what happens after that. So, please tell if you are able to complete your scanning without any issues after HP Scanning software launches its dialog.
You also mentioned that you want Acrobat to directly scan from scanner without going through any other software. In this regard, I would like to tell you that, on Mac, Acrobat cannot handle scanning in Headless mode i.e without showing the scanner dialog. Although this works on Windows. Still, I would say it should be better than going through SANE. So, please let me know if you are able to scan directly with HP's genuine software.

  • Xerox 7830 fails to obey "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro -- Adobe issue or Xerox issue? Workaround?

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....

Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier.

  • InstallShield 7 with Acrobat Pro 7 Issue

I am trying to setup a custom installation for Acrobat 7 Pro with InstallShield Tuner 7. Although I have created an MST file with changes from the standard installation, not all changes are sticking. For example, the package I have created successfully contains the serial number I have entered when I run it. However, I also unchecked the option to cache the files on the local computer, but when I run the install the box remains checked. This is just one example of many.
Any ideas what might be causing the issue?

I am currently using 'msiexec /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst /qb' in a batch file to run the Acrobat 7.0 Pro setup.
I'd like to add the 7.0.5 update to this installation (and make it so there is no user interaction) so that it runs after Acrobat Pro has been installed. Is there a way that I can add it to this command line? If so, how would the command look?
Or, are there other ways of doing this? I'm having trouble getting the update to run with the Acrobat Pro installation.

  • Thanks to Mandeep5062 Acrobat Pro download issue with Safari

Before your response arrived I shut down Safari, loaded Firefox, went directly to the Adobe download page and attempted a download. The download started correctly and then switched over to the Creative Cloud downloader and I thought, "Here we go again". However, the process completed and installed the Acrobat Pro software as advertised. This might be a work around others can use that are having issues with Safari.

Win 7 either comes with a virtural XP machine installed, or it's freelly availible.  I forget which, but this may be a simple solution to your issue.

  • Reinstall Acrobat Pro X issues

My Macbook Pro died. I just purchased new Macbook Air and wanted to install Acrobat Pro X again. I finally found the download again after searching and proceeded to install the software.  It accepted my serial number and advanced me to the next set up screen asking for a privious serial number of acrobat professional version 7 - 9 to continue. I don't have this info any longer since I'm dealing with an new machine. I contacted Adobe via live chat which was a super waste of time to find out they have no idea how to help. I need help from Adobe to get by this point.  The live chat suggestion was to buy a full version? Can someone from Adobe help?

I did not say chat, but Adobe Support. There is contact info on the Adobe web site. Unfortunately I have not had to use that contact for a long time and can't tell you much more. The chat might be able to help you, but I would check out the recent post on the sub-forum about activation issues and dealing with chat. The activation was for AA8 in that case.

  • New to Acrobat Pro 9 - Issues with Portfolio Management

    All
With apologies, I am completely new to Acrobat Pro 9 - and this may have been answered before.
I am using Acrobat Pro 9 as, hopefully, a file management system (in a Mac environment).  I want to be able to take all of my files - native format - and combine them into one portflio and arrange them in a certain order.
No problem in creating the portfolio and dropping in the files, but I can't get them to arrange in the order I want.  When someone opens the file, I want them to be able to see the file layered as if it were a paper file.  So, for example, the most recent email would be on top, with the attachments going with that email directly behind it, then the previous correspondence behind that, a presentation given behind that, etc.
The problem I have is that when I deposit the documents in the file, they are randomly assembled.  I don't want to use the sort chronologically button as the date created does not always reflect the actual date of the correspondence.
Also, I am hoping that I can later add documents to the file not only on top (the most recent) but in the middle if I find a missing document, for example.
I have tried creating a new tab to order the documents, but as soon as I start numbering them in order, the numbering of the others gets revised.  Very frustrating (plus with this method you would constantly have to renumber all the files everytime you added a new one).
Please tell me this is possible and, if so, what I need to do.  I am assuming it is a simple thing, so thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Thank you for your response.  I got an error message as follows:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: MSPUB_setclippath_7 ]%%
    Stack:
    [0.0 -1.0 1.0 0.0 -10200.0 6600.5]
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    Any ideas?

  • Acrobat Pro Subscription issues

I have an new Acrobat Pro Subscription purchased 48hrs ago. If I try to right click any pdf's from the Mac folders and 'open with' Adobe Acrobat Pro it sends me straight back to subscribe and tells me my trial is finished (never had a trial). It takes me to the page that requires the serial number and as I understand it, you don't get a serial number with subscriptions? So if I exit out of that it takes to the area to purchase the subscription again. What am I doing wrong. This seems ridiculously complicated for something that should be simple. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi shar8888,
The purchased subscription is linked to you Adobe ID.
Please license the software using your Adobe ID and the trial will be converted to full version/

  • Adobe Acrobat X Scanning Issue?

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X, Mac, and Scanning with HP Deskjet Issue!

I am running Adobe Acrobat X Pro on Lion and when I go to scan from PDF, my HP Deskjet 3052 A scanner isn't showing up in the drop down menu.  I also have Acrobat Pro X for Windows on my machine (VMWare) and it works fine, but it won't work with the Mac version.  I have called Adobe and HP and neither have been able to help me.  I bought this program with this feature in mind, and I am sick of having to toggle back to Windows to scan, as it eats up a lot of my processing power.  I have downloaded the SANE and TWAIN drivers (or so I thought I did) with no luck.  I have also un-installed and re-installed the printer and Adobe multiple times, with no luck!  Please help me!

How do I scan with the driver from Apple Software Update?
Depending on your printer and the type of driver update, you might need to scan in a different way than you did before you installed Mountain Lion.
NOTE:Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is not available when you scan with Preview, Image Capture, or Printer browser methods. You must use HP Scan software to scan from the printer.

  • Acrobat 7 Pro Windows Scanning Issues for Non-Admins

    Hello,
We have several users that are having scanning issues. WE recently removed administrator rights from our end users and now for some reason Acrobat 7 Professional doesn't show any scanners in the list when they try to create a PDF from the scanner. Windows shows the scanner in the scanners and cameras section of the control panel. Any help would be appreciated.
    -Jared

I was able to install it on Win 7, even the 64-bit version. But neither AcroTray or the Adobe PDF print driver for AA 7 works on Win 7. That means you have to use workarounds to get things done if you succeed in installing. it is time for you to probably buy a new copy.

  • Windows DEP error when scanning in Acrobat Pro 9.2

    Hi--
I scan in Acrobat Pro using create docuemnt>from scanner, via a TWAIN driver.  I upgraded from 9.1.3 to 9.2 recently, last week sometime, and this is the first time I've tried to scan.  If I try to scan, I get an error that Windows DEP is closing the program (note: I don't know why the image below says 9.1, as the version is 9.2).  I triec the DEP settings from the defualt for essential windows programs and services to specifically excluding Acrobat 9.  I also repaired my Arcrobat 9 installation.  I have Windows XP SP3, no new Windows updates are available.  None of those things fixed the problem.  Help!

I started having this issue about a month ago and have done some systematic testing regarding this.  First some particulars:
OS = Windows XP SP3, all updates installed and current.
Scanner = RICOH IS330DC with TWAIN driver
Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.x and 9.2 (see S.O.E below for explanation)
Scanning operations were typicaly done through AA using the scanners "Native" interface.  MSOffice Document Scanning was also used.
    Sequence of Events:
Installed WXP aprox. June of 2008, have been installing all updates automaticaly
Installed AA 8.x at the same time, installing all updates as they are released.
Performed scanning operations on a daily basis of over a year with NO DEP errors (thousands of scan operations on a daily basis)
Scanning operations slowed beginning of October of 2009 but still had not received any DEP errors.
Scanning resumed November 5, 2009.  Started scanning process from within AA (Create new PDF from...Scanner).  AA scan dialogue window opened, selected scan button.  Waited for Adobe to open "Native" scanner interface.  Received the following message instead:  "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program".
Attempted to scan with AA 9.2 NOT using native scanner interface, received identical result.
Upgraded to AA 9.2, on November 10, 2009
Scanned a document both with and without using "Native" scanner interface.  No change in DEP message.
Attempted to add AA 9.2 to "exclusion" list in DEP settings (OptIn setting).  I did not receive the message regarding DEP "must be enabled for Adobe Acrobat" that some have reported (possibly specific to Vista/W7 installations?).  Although windows allowed adding AA to DEP exclusion list, results were the same.
Scanned a document using MS Office Document Scanning feature and using scanner "Native" interface.  NO DEP MESSAGES RECEIVED.
Scanned a document using MS Office Document Scanning feature WITHOUT using scanner "Native" interface.  NO DEP MESSAGES RECEIVED.
Disabling DEP (AlwaysOff) does resolve the problem but is NOT recommended as DEP is a critical security feature.  As such this work-around is NOT acceptable.
The results of the testing were:
Windows and specificaly DEP are allowing the Microsoft supplpied MS Office Document Scanning utility to use the same RICOH supplied drivers and "Native" scanner interface that DEP is NOT allowing Adobe Acrobat to use.  Simply put, even though in WXP I can add Acrobat 9.2 to the exclusion list, Windows DEP still will not allow Acrobat 9.2 to exectue programs or drivers on it's own.  Which is why I believe this is not a RICOH driver issue but either a Microsoft issue or Adobe issue or most likely Microsoft having an issue with Adobe Acrobat.
Yes, a workaround would be to use MS Document Scanning and right now that is what I am having to do.  However I find it terribly inconvenient that I have to go an extra step to convert thousands of pages of text from tiff to pdf. when I have paid hundreds of dollars for Acrobat to do it directly to .pdf .  Besides, the custom programming and batch job features I use and rely on were developed specificaly for Acrobat and REQUIRE me to use it and not some other utility.  It is simply NOT cost effective for me to use MS Document Scanning and still be able to provide the services I provide.
    My questions are these:
Is Adobe actively addressing this issue?
Why is MS Office Document Scanning able to use the scanner drivers and dialogue window when Adobe Acrobat can not?  Why is MS Windows specificaly identifying secondary code execution by Adobe Acrobat as a problem while secondary code execution by MS office is considered acceptable?
What happened over the last three months that suddenly made DEP aware of Adobe Acrobat being untrustworthy in regards to code execution where as before it WAS trustworthy, at least in regards to Windows XP installations.
Prior to this issue I had NEVER even heard of DEP (again Windows XP user).  Did Microsoft release a DEP upgrade to Windows XP users that we were not aware of?  Did Microsoft include DEP as a new feature in a recent WXP SP3 security update (over the last three months) and this is why we are seeing this now?
Regardless of When DEP was released and for who (WXP, Vista, W7), my questions #1 and #2 are still valid.  Can someone at Adobe please address this?
    ****** UPDATE #1 - 11/23/2009 ******
When adding items to the DEP exclusion list, it will only allow the addition of ".exe" (executables).  I have not been able to find a way of adding .dll files or any other extension types.

  • Scan multi-page less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8

Scanning a multi-page document is less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8.
In prior versions when a page had been scanned a dialog box was presented in which the user could simply press Return or Enter to scan another page, or Escape if there were no more pages to scan.
However, in ver. 8, the new dialog box defaults to "no more pages to scan" and if you nee to scan additional pages you have to reach for the mouse and click an alternate radio button, then click another button to scan the additional page(s). Quite a bit more movement required than before.
I realize this is a relatively minor issue, but it's annoying when scanning multi-page documents.

    bye

  • Overlapping issues in Acrobat Pro 8

One of my users is using Acrobat Pro 8. He has been converting webages to .pdf without issue for a week or so. No changes were done to the PC, do changes were done to defaults. He's using the same webpage and the same procedure he has been using but now when he does it? The information on the page overlaps and becomes difficult to read.
I checked for updates and installed them this morning to see if that would assist with this issue and it did not.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to rectify this issue would be greatly appreciate. This is a website that he utilizes on a frequent basis daily and converts to .pdf often.
    Thank you!

Probably Acrobat and/or the scanning software is running out of resouces. It could be RAM. It could be hard disk space. Doing it in two steps seems like the way to go even if you were to prefer it to be one step.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro memory issues

I work for a company that scans micro film cards into the computer. Each micro film card usually has about 4 to 5 pages on each card. The scanner we use scans those 5 pages into one pdf page. We just bought adobe acrobat x pro to help us split these images into separate pages. First we highlight the first part of the image, copy to clipboard, then under more insert options we insert from clipboard. This works as intended, but we run into a snag, 1st adobe starts eating up a lot of memory, and it gets slower and slower when you cut and insert pages. Usually after you have closed about 6 separate documents adobe bogs down to the point where it stops responding and has to shut down. I have searched on the web for the past 3 days trying to find out how to resolve this. I have done everything from removing add-ons, setting adobe as admin, running it in xp mode, setting affinity, setting priority, downgrading to a fresh install with no patch. I am at my wits end, any help would be appreciative.

Great... so there is no update to get over this pixelated text/art issue for Acrobat Pro X (10.1.13) due to the retina display???
I am a graphic designer so I know what I am viewing is hires. All my art & copy is pixelated and when I open in the newest reader the art is fine. Is there a more efficient workaround besides open in reader but use pro for any edits?

  • I get prompted to select a scanner and a scan profile/preset each time I try to scan a document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

    Hello,
I have a fujitsu scanner (fi-6140) connected to my computer and have the "Scan" button on the scanner associated with Adobe Acrobat.  And so when I press the "Scan" button on the scanner to scan a document, it launches Adobe Acrobat Pro automatically.   Then I get prompted to select a scanner/device and a scan profile.  It seems to remember the last-used scanner/device, however; it still prompts me each time to confirm the scanner/device selected and select a scan profile to use.  Is there a way to save both the scanner & scan profile information and so when I click the "Scan" button, it doesn't prompt me to select but starts scanning using the last-used settings automatically?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Are you facing the issue with any pdf file?
Please try updating Acrobat to 11.0.7 and check.
