Acrobat 10 unable to install patches to base

Log shows: Unable to create a temp copy of patch 'AcrobatUpd1001+Tier1.msp'
base package installs no problem, but unable to patch, always gives error, tried several different PC's, followed tips closely in Enterprise Administration Guide, but apparently missing something.  Is anyone else able to install the 1001 or 1002 MSP for Acrobat 10?  thanks Dennis

XP PC's SP3, what I was doing was  (my apologies for the level of detail, but wanted to make sure you understand I'm really trying to follow your guidelines). (Since you are both Adobe employees I've attached our PO and vendor document called adobe acrobat license verification information attachment just to get past any ? of payment). Also including Mr Smith of Adobe who also posed an additional ? as to verify where I got the download (see adobe update download attachment).
Step 1:  Test out the new 10 to make sure I understand how it works and its ability to uninstall previous products.  That part seems to work well in silent mode.  10 successfully installs and per my testing and client feedback it works nicely.  This round we are by default not installing reader 10 on acrobat 10 PC's (previously with version 9 there were many  academic web sites that for whatever reason, they specifically had to have the reader installed in order for clients to download PDF's. (see acrobat base 10  works fine attachment)
Step 2:  After getting past initial install testing, I noticed that you have both a 10.0.1 version tier 1 update that I downloaded called "AcrobatUpd1001_Tier1.msp" and a version 10.0.2 called "AcrobatSecUpd1002.msp".  So given that 90% of my clients don't have admin rights (so the adobe updater doesn't really work for me in general since I'm not aware you have a silent switch on the adobe_updater.exe (see adobe updater posted question attachment) I tried following the instructions on page 38 of your Enterprise Admin Guide to both install the 10.0.0 and then patch it with the 10.0.1.  Anytime I try to add the PATCH= command in my batch job (that I will run via SMS) (see batch job 10.0.0 silent works, and batch job 10.0.1 gets error msg) I get an error.  So I have tried both, a job that installs 10.0.0 and then a separate job to apply the patch and also a job to try and do both steps in one job.  Anytime I try to do either patch I get an error msg (see patch apply job & error message & verbose adobe install log attachments).
Step 2.5:  I have tried this on several different workstations to verify it just wasn't a problem with my test VM workstations.
Step 2.6:  I also tried replacing my acropro.msi with a clean copy that I had not utilized your configuration tool against.
Step 3:  I have tested installing 10.0.0 on a desktop with admin rights and then letting it utilize the adobe updater method and that works just fine.
If you could be so kind as to point me in the right direction, I would truly appreciate it and I thank you for your time.
Thanks Dennis

  • Unable to install patch 137137-09 on sunBlade 150

    Hi
I was trying to add the patch 137137-09 in my solaris 10 OS which is installed on SunBlade 150.
No problem till the part of extracting the patch.
On trying to install the same, it throws error regarding the conflict in the architecture of the patch and the machine.
Waiting for your help to solve this issue

A simple search at Sun's corporate home page for "137137"
found Public Sun Alert 246207 as the first search result:
    Does that describe your issue?
If so, review the Workaround section in that document.
It took me all of 15 seconds to search and find that info.

  • Acrobat 9 could not install correctly

I just bought CS5 and I had no problems installing the CS programs, but I can't install Acrobat 9 Pro.  I can copy the files to my applications folder, but whenever I click on Acrobat Pro it prompts me to enter my password to make changes.  After I do this it automatically gives me the error message, "Acrobat could not install correctly.  Acrobat was unable to install and must quit."  I don't know what the problem is and I've been unable to find the answer online.  I would appreciate any help on this.

    Okay..
I finally have a few minutes to add some further information to this incredibly time consuming a frustrating chapter in the life of updating AdobeAcrobatPro9.0 to 9.2.
    Short Re-cap:
What originally started this whole process was trying to update my very stable version of AdobeAcrobatPro9.1.3 to 9.2.  After hours and hours of trying to make this update including re-installing the application several times from the original DVD, calling in to Adobe Tech Support multiple times and getting on with Apple support, I finally requested a new DVD from Adobe which I got.
Using that original DVD I reinstalled the application from scratch which put AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0 on my hard drive in the applications folder.  I made sure to fix the permissions on my system first (I'm running OSX 10.5.8).  I also followed virtually every suggestion from every source both on the Internet, Adobe Tech Support, Adobe Forums, as well as suggestions from some other of my engineers who work for me since I own my own software company.
Where I am at now is that while I have AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0 installed, I cannot even update to 9.1.  I am now stuck with the original version.
I am thinking that this may have to do with the languages implementation.  The new install that I received from Adobe is ENGLISH ONLY.  I am attaching a screenshot.  All of the plugins are installed and active.
I am surmising that there is some offensive code in the updater that doesn't like single language versions of AdobeAcrobatPro 9.0.  In one of the posts a Norweigan gentleman said he got his version to finally update but he had 3 language versions in Norweigan....
If I was Adobe I would investigate the possibility that there are language dependencies that are causing this very troublesome and persistent problems for many many users.  This is a very known issue now and due to the serious nature of the security deficiencies in the Adobe Acrobat Pro product versions previous to 9.2, I would think Adobe would want to address this quickly to avoid any class action litigation for negligence in keeping their software properly patched and patchable.
Since it's apparent that the normal tiers of support at Adobe aren't able to assist the multitude of angry and frustrated users of this product that someone in a higher position at Adobe gets involved to actually try and find a real solution and not hide behind the excuse of not being able to duplicate it.
This is a cop out and pretty lame excuse for a company as big as Adobe.
I'd really like to hear from someone at Adobe who not only has a sense of pride and responsiblity about Adobe products there but who also has the technical expertise and willingness to launch a serious effort to fix this preposterous situation.

  • Unable to install Acrobat Pro 6 Upgrade on Mac Mini single CPU, OS 10.4.5

I have a Mac Mini (1.5 GHz, Intel Core Solo) with 512 mb RAM running OS X (10.4.5)
Unable to install Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 upgrade because I am unable to install earlier version full version (I own Acrobat 4 and 5 full versions). Finalizing install of 6 asks me to "Manually identify prior install", "Search hard drive for prior install", or "Manually locate on orig. CD". None of these options are possible (Version 5 CD is not a drag-and-drop app). How do I work around this?

I tried "Manually select..." but when I insert original CD of Acrobat 5, I'm not able to select it. Version 5 is not a drag and drop install,...i must click on the installer to install 5.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard and Acrobat X Pro unable to install

    Hello,
I have purchased Acrobat 8 Standard and Acrobat X Pro, and have both serial numbers.
I am unable to install either in my new computer.
I do not have a disc for Acorbat 8, but do have one for Acrobat X Pro.
I have tried downloading from Download and Installation Help.  I received the following error message:  "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed.  Setup will now terminate."
    I have uninstalled and re-installed 8.
I have used the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner.
    Nothing has worked so far.
I received an email from Adobe Help & Support. I replied in order to set up an appointment, but never received a response.
It was suggested in one of the last communications in another forum, that I post a new discussion in the Acrobat Installation & Update Issues forum.
    Please help.

    Hi Elizabeth ,
It is not recommended to download and run two Acrobat versions on the same machine as it can lead to some conflicts between the two and as well as with the activation server .
Try and use single software on one machine .
Please use the Adobe Cleaner tool to uninstall the software .Here is the link for the same .
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Once uninstalled ,try downloading the software once again and see if that works for you .Make sure you disable all the third party software while the installation is in progress to avoid any interruption.
Or you could refer the following to download Acrobat X Pro .Acrobat 8 standard ,as it is an older version would not be available now .
You could try and download Acrobat X referring the following KB document and serialize by typing the serial number mentioned on the disk .

  • Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?

Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?
Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.

  • Unable to install Acrobat 7.0

After multiple install/uninstalls, I am unable to install Acrobat 7.0.  I have cs2 and windows xp. The other programs (GoLive, Illustrator, etc) appear as install options but the Acrobat 7.0 does not. (It is greyed out).
Can anyone assist me on this?
    thanks much.

There is a process for the Acrobat installation with CS that is a bit different than the stand-alone Acrobat as I understand it. It might be worth asking in the CS forum. I think you have to open one of the CS products, like PhotoShop and activate that, and then install Acrobat and activate it -- but that is an attempt at pulling the solution out of my lame memory.
