You should have been asked for the SN of the qualifying product as part of the upgrade. You do not have to install the older product. However, for Acrobat XI you have to be upgrading from AA 9 or later.

Installing CS3 Upgrade On New Laptop That's Not Had Full Install

Frustrated!
Got a new laptop for Christmas. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
My original full is Version 5, which has been upgraded to 5.5 - 6 - 7 - CS2 & CS3.
CS3 upgrade is currently installed on my desktop machine running Window XP SP2.
I'm trying to install on my new laptop as my 2nd install, but the installation keeps failing!
With each attemt I expect to be asked to stick the original install disc (version 5) to verify but that does not happen, it never asks for it!
I have tried both Run as administatror and also in XP compatibility mode with zero results.
Am I going to need to install the full version 5 and then go through installing upgrades until I get to CS3? I'm trying to avoid all that time if possible!

Near as I can tell you haven't named one specific error message in all your posts above.

You've leapt to the conclusion that it's a problem with the software being an upgrade; I'd like to confirm that, that's all.
By the way, there were problems with even Photoshop CS5 working on some AMD processors up until an update was released (well after the initial release of PS CS5)... Not sure if this has anything to do with what you're doing, but if even more modern versions of Photoshop didn't get along with AMD processors there could be a compatibility issue... Did Photoshop CS3 specifically claim compatibility with the type of AMD processor you have, or is there too much of a time difference between them?

I installed Acrobat Pro on one laptop on 3/16/12. The laptop crashed, I've purchased a new one and would like to download the existing copy onto my new laptop. How do I do that without purchasing another copy of Acrobat?

If you bought as a download from Adobe directly, you can simply re-download it from your user account. If you have a disk, simply install it with that. For fixing your activations, call support by phone.

Installing CS2Premium upgrade onto new laptop with Windows 8

I am trying to install a Creative Suite 2 Premium upgrade onto a new laptop with Windows 8. The upgrade is from Photoshop 5.0, which I also have the original discs for, but is not installed on this new laptop. Therefore, the upgrade is not being recognized. I tried putting the 5.0 disc in and having the installation search for it as verification, but that wasn't working. I realize both of these programs are ancient, but they are what I have. So be it. :-) Can someone help me figure out how to get my CS2 upgrade to install?

In any case, you will need the installation files. I hope you have the CD or backup up your download and well as writing down the serial number. If you registered, Adobe can help you on the latter.
The procedure would be the following:
1. Deactivate the current version.
2. Uninstall the current version.
3. Install Acrobat on the new laptop.
4. Start Acrobat and activate it.
5. Do the updates and reboot.
Since you have AA X, there may be some issues if you got Win8, not sure.
