Acrobat 3D Toolkit missing in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

Dear all,
I updated from Acrobat 8 to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. Now I was looking for the Acrobat 3D Toolkit and couldn't find it.
Was it renamed into Adobe 3D Reviewer or is it just missing in the installation?
Best regards,
Sandra.

Actually, when you create an animation in 3D Reviewer you can only save it to PDF.<br /><br />The animation is saved as a JavaScript attached to the 3D annotation in PDF. It is not saved in U3D or PRC.<br /><br />To view your animation in PDF you need to use a PDF template. There is a default template that comes with the product locaded in the following folder:<br /><br />   C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\plug_ins3d\prc\ENU<br /><br />You should use one of the following templates depending if you rather use Acrobat to create a form template or LiveCycle Designer (also comes with Acrobat Pro Extended):<br /><br />   - a3drtemplate_03.pdf: template created with Acrobat<br />   - a3drtemplate_lc_03.pdf: template created with LC Designer<br /><br />To save to PDF, you need to use the File>Export menu option, then click on the Options button (left corner), then choose PDF from the list of formats, and click on Options again to set the template to use.<br /><br />On the PDF Export Options dialog box, check the box 'Use Template' and select one of the default templates indicated above. Then at the bottom of the dialog box, check the box 'Include Animations' and click OK (twice) and Save.<br /><br />The PDF created will have the JavaScript to play the animation. If you want to take a look at the JavaScript, it is saved in your temp folder at the following location:<br /><br />   C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Temp<br /><br />The JavaScript file will have the name of your model with a .jsX extension where X is a number.<br /><br />In 3D Reviewer, special views are created using the following tool: <br /><br />   View>Configurations>Create Configuration<br /><br />If you use the Export to PDF option with a template, all the conigurations will come thru in the PDF. You can also save configurations to a PDF without using a template. They will come in as custom views in PDF.<br /><br />You can download the file below to see an example of a PDF saved from 3D Reviewer with a simple animation:<br /><br />   https://share.acrobat.com/adc/document.do?docid=db6805a2-9cdd-4584-8388-e4d59123f012<br /><br />Hope this helps.

  • Install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 9 Standard

I attempted to do an upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended having purchased the software from a sales rep who said I could do this as did technical support.
My system is XP Pro/SP2 32-bit.
During the install I ran into this problem. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401731.html. Being stupid I continued on
instead of stopping. Once I got to the section that I am asked to input the Pro Extended serial number and then my STandard serial number I ran into further problems. The dropp down menu asked for which current version of Acrobat, which of course for me was 9 Standard.
The problem was the drop down menu has no option for Standar only Professional.
Since the sales rep had told me I could upgrade I hadn't read the label on the Extended Pro box, which says it's only an upgrade for Professional If I had called in at that time I would have resolved that issue, but not the missing DLL.
I then found out I couldn't uninstall the mess so I did another stupid thing and did a system restore, which just compounded the problem. To make a longer story shorter I downloaded MS Windows Cleanup Utility and removed  Acrobat.com and Acrobat 9 STandard. I then downloaded WinCS4Cleanupscript and unzipped and ran it. So far so good.
Then I was advised to install Pro Extended as a trial and customer support would take care of the license issue. Ok, again so far so good.
I then attemped to install Pro Extended as trial and ran into a printer problem similar to what I had
encountered before, but not exactly the same.
"Setup can not copy file PSCRPTFE.NTF" and issues about printers not being Windows logo compliant I believe it was.
(I have a new wireless Brother HL-2170W laser and Canon MP830 inkjet and just updated the driver and firmware...maybe that will load the missing driver)
A this point the installation was terminated and I was advised to follow Adobe TechNote KB403613. The only item that I could possiblity help with this printer problem is the Hotfix kb-930627, but this is for a 64-bit system not 32? Do I download or not?
I also just found out that I still have some vestige of Pro Extended on my system though the MS Cleanup Utility doesn't list anything. Do I run WinCS4Cleanupscript again?
    a) How do I fix the PSCRPTFE.NTF issue with my printer(s)
    b) Do I download a 64-bit hotfix kb-930627to my 32-bit system...and will that solve the printer problem?
    c) Do I just ignore what's left of Pro Extended on my system or run Winc cs4Cleanupscript again. I can't run it directly from all programs, but if I click
on Acrobat 9 Standard under start it opens up or at least that's how it's identified.
    d) Anything else?

I might as well update my own question:
I followed the instructions given in the Adobe TechNote kb403613 after running WINCS4Cleanupscript.
However, I did NOT download the hotfix as that's for a 64-bit system. The phrasing of the hotfix wasn't very
clear to me, but I don't think when it stated XP Home or Professional meant a 32-bit system rather only 64-bit.
If anyone knows better let me know. I checked out that specific hotfix and said was for 64-bit OS.
    1) Created a new user account with Admin rights
    2)  I did the "intermediate troubleshooting" listed in kb403613 and found a few files to delete and I also ran the disk defragmenter.
Might as well catch any problems up front instead of waiting.
    3) There were several directories on the DVD but only copied Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to my desktop in the new user account.
    4) Ran msconfig and disabled all programs under the start up tab. Once you click OK a small window pops up
and you press restart. Remember to write down any programs listed in startup that are not enabled so you
can deselect those when you enable the startup menu again.
    5) On restart and booting up press F8 to get the start up options and select VGA mode.
    7) Once you in Windows log back into the account you created to just install Acrobat
    8) Open Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on your desk top and run the installer
    Desktop>Acrobat 9 Pro Extended>Acrobat9>Acro3D
    9) Run the install. In my case I selected trial version.
    10) I still ran into a problem with Windows Logo compatiblity issues with  my printers.
I could either continue or stop the installation, which I did to attempt to determine just what's
    causing that problem.
    11) there was some auto backout of files, but I still had to run MS Cleanup Utility again and remove Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
Also ran WINCS4Cleanupscript though nothing there.
    12) I then did a restart and booted into normal Windows mode from VGA mode.
    13) Logged into my account and ran msconfig to enabled my startup menu and then deselected the ones I didn't want.
OK, I am back to square one. I checked the Windows Logo Product List and found my Brother HL-2170W is
XP, VISTA and W7 Windows Logo certified.
I checked my other printer a Canon Pixma MP830...well not so good. It's logo certified under Vista and W7, but not XP.
I had downloaded the lastest driver and firmware, but that didn't seem to help. I did email Canon. Now these printers had
no problems when I was running under Acrobat 9 Standard.
Right now my only option appears to be to just run the install and continue on when I get to the printer issue. Still don't know what
will happen when I get to the serial numbers. I am suppose to call support and they will fix activation. So I am told...

  • Acrobat 10 Pro vs Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

    Fellow Forum Members,
Has Adobe dropped the Typewriter tool that Acrobat 9 had?  Also Acrobat 9 Pro Extended had an app called Presenter. Has this also been dropped?  Can anyone out there post a list of what features have been dropped from Acrobat 10 Pro that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended use to have.
The biggest difference I see is in the file size between the two apps.  Acrobat 10 is close to 460 MB while Acrobat 9 as I remember was close to 1 GB. Does this difference in filesize mean that Acrobat 10 is missing a lot of the features version 9 had?  Evenmore, the GUI for Acrobat 10 looks very bare compared to version 9.  Has Acrobat 10 gone through some reverse evolution ?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Can anyone out there post a list of what features have been dropped from Acrobat 10 Pro that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended use to have.
The headline differences are as follows...
Items omitted from Acrobat X which where in one or more editions of Acrobat 9:
    1) Ability to import and transcode video/audio files other than MP3, Flash Video and H.264 (now handled by Adobe Media Encoder in Acrobat X Suite).
    2) Ability to import and transcode 3D model files other than U3D and PRC (now handled by the Tetra4D Converter application, sold separately).
    3) Ability to embed legacy rich media annotations (removed for security reasons - legacy media will play but cannot be created).
    4) Ability to import and register geospatial images and maps (now handled by export tools within native GIS software).
    5) Organizer and the History tree (users should use external fie management and browsing tools such as Adobe Bridge, etc).
    6) Support for Highlight File Format (functionality is no longer available).
    7) ADBC (users should convert to using XFA or SOAP).
    8) Headless import of InDesign files (now handled by the Export utility in InDesign itself).
There are lots of tweaks under the surface to make the installer footprint smaller. Losing some of the above features make a big difference (geospatial and 3D support took a lot of space), and despite being smaller than Acrobat 9, Acrobat X includes many new features too - such as support for Office 2010, export to spreadsheet, intelligent scan and OCR, etc. It's certainly true that it's not possible to replicate the entire functionality of Pro Extended, but as many users only needed a fraction of the tools, splitting off the specialist stuff makes commercial sense too - Acrobat X Pro is significantly cheaper than Pro Extended, even if you factor in the cost of a couple of commercial plugins. For example many users who were using Pro Extended for video work also had a copy of Creative Suite, Vegas, etc., so they already had the ability to generate the correct video files - duplicating chunks of the conversion code in Pro Extended didn't make sense, and with full H.264 support in Acrobat X we can import files from most prosumer sources (camcorders, cellphones, etc) without any conversion at all.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended issues

    7-29-08
    Hello,
I work in an engineering enviromment doing visualization and
animation. I have been an advocate for Acrobat 3D as a better way
to communicate with our customers. We have a large contingent of
Autodesk Mechanical Desktop and Inventor users. I want to add
advanced features to the presentations we make to our customers. So
far it looks like Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not play nice with
the Inventor 2009 series, neither the Desktop or Inventor. The main
issue is that the section tool creates nice outlines where the
solids are cut that describe the shape made by the cutting plane
but the solid surfaces the plane would make are missing. It looks
like the surface normal that should be there is flipped.
I have looked at the various presentation methods in this new
relase of Acrobat and they are a big step up but I want to be able
to open a PDF to a text document with animations embedded in it and
possibly narrations. I want a tavble of contents that has page
links to illustrations and paragraphs, and 3D files that my
customers can interact with. I see nothing in the training that
    addresses this. Can you help?
Autodesk has it's own design collaboration package that
produces rotatable 3D files. It is called DWF Writer and the output
is more realistic than what Acrobat produces. For my needs should I
abandon Acrobat 3D functions and instead attach 3D DWF's?
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat 9 Pro extended 64-bit add-on uninstall crashes

My windows 7 64 bit computer seems to reboot itself. I've located the problem to possibly be with Acrobat.
When I then tried to unistall "Accrobat 9 Pro extended 64-bit add-on" the computer crashes--straight to black screen and rebooting. I tried to uninstall it in safe mode but windows t pops up with a window telling me some uninstall file is missing.
Any suggestions outside of reinstalling the OS.?
    Thanks in advance

All I can tell you is it's title in the "Programs and Features" tool of Windows 7. To whit: "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended 64-bit Add-On."  It has an installation date of 8-30-2011 and is only 34KB in size, according to Windows. It is listed below the Main Acrobat 9 Pro program, which doesn't give it's size, but does give the current version of 9.5.2, which is the latest for Acrobat 9 Pro as far as I know.
The one thing I want to establish is whether this add-on is necessary for the current version of Acrobat 9 Pro to function or not. I can find no guidance on Acrobat's website; at least a search reveals nothing anyway. And it is not referenced in their update site at all. If worse comes to worse, I will call them for guidance because our security types are listing it as a problem, and I am wondering if they are confusing this add-on with the main program.
Hope this helps with your knowledge, and thanks for replying.

  • OT: Macintosh Users: Beware the misleading advertising for Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

An important message to Macintosh users who are considering purchasing Acrobat 9:
I am writing to let you Mac users know that the current marketing for Acrobat Pro is very confusing.
On the page for Acrobat Pro,
    here.
there is a very enticing sidebar that says "Consider Upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended"
It outlines all the cool things that Extended can do. I had seen some publicity for Extended and so I immediately clicked that button to find out more about this version. It is a very compelling product that has a presentation application, 3D capabilities, and the form creation product Live Cycle Designer.
I was very excited about this product, when I was lucky to have checked the System Requirements for this product. And was amazed to find that this product is Windows only!
It is one thing to shove the Mac market off to the side as Acrobat has in the past. For instance, in the past, Acrobat products have provided features for Windows that were missing on the Mac.
But the current advertising borders on misleading advertising. Rather than just hide the Windows -only features under the same name as the Macintosh product, Adobe has come out with a Windows-only product that doesn't clearly state it is Windows only!
To publicize a product on a page that is cross platform and then make it very hard to find out that the product is Windows only is terrible. And I guarantee that this will lead to many people ordering something they can not use. And will be very angry about!
I have written to several people I know at Adobe to complain about this.
I would suggest that others use the Adobe-feedback page:
    http://www.adobe.com/bin/webfeedback.cgi
to tell Adobe how this makes you feel.
Meanwhile, I'm glad that I won't have to shell out the extra money for this Windows-only product.

    Buko,
I appreciate your support, but it's even worse than you think.
Here are the features exclusive to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended:
Combine documents, drawings, e-mail, spreadsheets, and rich media including audio, video, 3D, and maps in a single, compressed PDF Portfolio.
b The Pro version does not support 3D.
Create interactive, on-demand presentations Use Adobe Presenter software now included with Adobe Acrobat® 9 Pro Extended software to liven up your slides with video, voice-over, demos, and interactive quizzes, and then output to PDF for reliable, cross-platform sharing.
b The Pro version does not contain Presenter.
This is the product I was most interested in.
Work with expanded 3D features Use new Adobe 3D Reviewer software to combine multiple CAD formats in one assembly; compare a revised design to an earlier version; measure and section on precise geometry; and create exploded views, animations, and balloons. Export your work to 2D vector or raster files or save as PDF.
b The Pro version does not support any 3D features.
View and interact with PDF maps Search, measure, and mark up geospatially enabled PDF maps. Discover the longitude and latitude by placing your cursor over a location. Measure PDF maps in kilometers or miles.
b The Pro version does not support the PDF maps features.
Create interactive forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
b The Pro version does not have the LiveCycle Designer application.
Finally, there is a feature mentioned in the Pro 9 Extended product that I cannot find in the Acrobat Pro 9 features:
Convert a variety of video formats to FLV for reliable, cross-platform sharing of video, animations, and applications in PDF documents. With native support for Adobe® Flash® technology, no additional media player is necessary for playback.
b But I can't definitely tell if this feature is in the Pro 9 version.
As you can see, there are quite a few compelling features in Pro Extended. And I guarantee it is
b only marketing, and not code,
that is keeping these features from the Mac market.

Acrobat 9 extended is just the new name for Acrobat 3D. Alas it has
always been Windows only. I agree that they could make it more obvious
that it is Windows only. I guess some in the Marketing department, may
not realize that anyone still uses a Mac ;-)

  • AutoCAD Revit Architekture 2010 in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

    Hallo,

  • Is LiveCycle only a part of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro EXTENDED, or does it come with the pro version too?

Sorry, I know this is dated but my company doesnt offer Acrobat X (yet. It is currently pending approval from IT). Anyway, I am wondering if the Livecycle designer program comes with the Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional version or just the Extended which I cannot get? This is very important as I will be using it to create a form (literally just one form lol).
    Thanks

Designer ES is distributed with both Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended for Windows.

  • Pdf form created in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not function properly when viewed by Reader

    Hello all-
I have created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have an issue because when others view the form in Adobe Reader some of the functions do not work- such as the attach a file button I created, or the save, print buttons (all are execute a menu item). These work on my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but not on Reader.
I have tried saving many different versions- with security (password) and made sure to allow printing and commenting, editing, digital signatures etc...
    Without any security...
Even tried extending features in Adobe Reader!
The response from others is that it all works, except the ATTACH A FILE button- when they click on it it compresses, but, nothing happens!
I don't know what else to do! (I guess people could just attach things to the e-mail that is generated from the submit button, but worried people might forget at that step once they are past that section on the form and they jump to email to submit).
    Help please!
    A.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.

  • Text spacing goes crazy after editing a pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

Recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from 7.  I have old pdf documents that need minor editing.  When I edit text with Text Touchup tool, I get an error that font substitution taking place, usually  TimesNewRoman Postscript to just TimesNewRoman.  Once I save the pdf, text throughout the entire document is spaced randomly, i.e. "Doc    ument is n    o     t     fo   m    atted  correctly".  I do not have the original source documents to re-scan or recreate the PDF.  If I create a new document using 9, I embed my fonts or I get the same problem.  I can't do this with the hundreds of old documents I have.  Is there a fix? I have tried Adobe Tech support via email with no response.
I am using Distiller to print to pdf.
I am using Vista Home Premium (ugh!) but tried it on an XP system with same results.
All my documents are text, and were OCR'd using Abbyy FineReader originally.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have the originals in either hardcopy or OCR'd files.  My workaround is to re-OCR the pdf, make the changes I need and then save to PDF.  This makes a lot more work.  I am really trying to figure out what changed in 9 from 7 that causes this to happen.  I believe it is an issue with the fonts, was just hoping for a fix.
The edits to these documents are minor, like removing some highlighting or taking away a few words of colored text, but they are necessary, just very unhappy that it now can take hours to do something it used to take minutes to do.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended crashes when trying to distribute form

    Hi.
I am experiencing an issue with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit.
I have created a pdf file derived from an html and css file.
The pdf file comes out perfectly with form fields automatically detected, etc.
However, when I try to distribute the form, by clicking on
    1. Forms > Distribute Form...
    2. Manually collect responses in my email inbox..
    3. Save a local copy and manually send it later.
Acrobat.exe crashes with faulting module acroform.api. when trying to create the response file.
Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.0.0.332, faulting module acroform.api, version 9.0.0.332, fault address 0x00025878.
    Any ideas?
I can successfully distribute a different form created from InDesign.
    Thank you.

Any ideas?   there was an update on adobe dated 2/25/13.   Perhaps if I uninstall it?   I need advice on how to uninstall. When I view updates and click on it, and then click uninstall, it goes back to the Program Screen, in Control, for all programs. Then do I click on Acrobat and Uninstall?  I am nervous about doing this. Thanks

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Signature Issue after upgrade

I have updated to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 7 Standard. I have several pdf files that I have signed and secured. These files have been set to not allow clients to remove or alter various pages. I did not save a copy without the signature or security settings. I have not been able to get back into 7 Standard to try and retrieve the signature. I do have a complete backup of the program files. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to retrieve the signature (or signature files) from Standard 7 and place it in 9 Pro Extended? I am using the same computer and as mentioned above I have a complete backup of 7 standard program files prior to the update. I would like to be able to remove the signature and alter the security settings in Pro 9 Extended.
